Since I've been a bit cynical in my last few posts about the Bitbay IPO, in the name of even handedness I thought I'd better post this observation I just made.

For those who are not market analysts fanatics, what this means fundamentally is that the IPO hasn't been sold - contrary to what the price might indicate. Tiny parts of the Bitbay money supply are being traded while the bulk is being held. It's possible that a tiny chunk of the Bitbay money supply is being frantically traded between nervous initial investors and/or clever traders and/or late investors. But as far as I can see the current price does not reflect the sentiment of the large body of holders of the Bitbay money supply based on the miniscule volume that has driven the price down.

I was quite surprised to see this metric because the price and the sentiment on the thread reflected a general dissatisfaction with the way the IPO had been conducted. In my own opinion, the IPO was overvalued on Marketcap by about 50%. But based on the volume analysis of the price decline it doesn't appear that a large part of the coin supply has changed hands.

Either this is because only a tiny amount of the coin supply is in 3rd party hands in the first place (i.e. most of it is still in the hands of the original issuers) or simply that most holders are still holding.

As a previous poster pointed out, we cannot possibly know which is the case because we do not know how much of the coin supply is still in the hands of the issuers and we probably never will.

Wow, a rational and intelligent post. Glad to see this. I really think the IPO sold out myself, though. I don't think it is unreasonable to think that anywhere between a few hundred to a thousand or so investors participated in the IPO. I myself have put a little over 4 BTC or so into BitBay and I'm holding my ~2 million with no plans on selling. I know many more out there have more than 2 million, so it doesn't take very many people with my same thought process to mean that the actual supply being traded is quite low.

The IPO sold out for sure. The thing is that a lot of chinese invested into this one, and they are keeping their coins on bter, heck I have around 8 million coins on BTER too for daytrade and ~10 million for med-term staking.
The coin is still in its infancy, daytraders are pushing the marketcap down, creating volatility and good spread.

I bought during the ICO and held/am holding. And the Blocknet/XC Fud clones can operate all they want.

I sold some Maid for this.  I didn't do that because I read one post either.

Thanks for the graphic, toknormal.  It is an interesting metric for sure and one that I am inclined to interpret as confirmation of my own impressions regarding thread activity...since it mirrors my activity (though I am far from a whale I have behaved with purpose).

Its seems as if a few people had questions about configuring the wallet. Just take a look at your receive tab. You can use bitmessage or encrypted email. Every page has a question mark that describes whats going on the page. If your bitmessage address isnt showing then PM me. Otherwise, you can use one or the other. If you send to a bitmessage address for contracts, the program automatically uses the address loaded in your receive tab. If you send to an email address, the program will use whatever email address you have loaded.

The list of approved email providers is listed if you hit the question mark. I usually just make a new gmail since its only used for communicating contract data. Let me know if you have any more questions thanks.

Thanks for the hard work David. Quick question, though. In my client, the [?] buttons don't actually do anything when I click on them. I thought maybe they just weren't implemented yet but it sounds like they should be. Is this a known bug?

I think we might be able to attribute the sequence of those statements to a Western sense of social conduct.  It is most evident in stark contrast to the ASL community who are very frank and don't give a damn if the statement is offensive because the whole point of providing a negative statement is to improve upon the conduct/expression of whom is being communicated to...which makes it non offensive in the ASL community.

Western style of communication pairs constructive criticism with a positive as a balance and is usually balanced with more specifics.

So in this case, I think the explicit thanking by amytheplanarshift was intended as a cursory and offhand balance to the real point of the post...which is a real inquiry into why the question mark boxes do not work.

It's not cannon fodder, in my opinion, as it is more of an ingrained style of cultural communication.  I think amytheplanarshift really would like an answer and didn't want to come across as Fudding...is kind of the real takeaway here.

That said, I think that some of the fields need to be populated with connections (send addresses, smart contract signees, et cetera) in order to function?  I could be wrong...my work weekend just ended so I just downloaded the wallet and am going through it right now...

I need to work on understanding multi-sig backups first and foremost...

Well, I have lived in Japan for over a third of my life now and we tend to be overly polite here, so you are correct in that it is probably a cultural thing. But I mean, I am genuinely thankful that someone is out there working on the kinds of projects that I wish I had the know-how to accomplish. Decentralized markets are a pretty subversive technology in my opinion, so I am happy to see someone trying to make that become a reality and right now David is doing a really good job at making something that could potentially be something great. It remains to be seen if that is the case in the end, but for right now I'm happy with the progress in such a short time.
