Friedcat's response to the Mongolian threat.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afnJbdT4t5g

friedcat shouldn't be afraid of the low electricity prices in Mongolia, but rather use the chance to build large mining operations there! I wonder which limitations do exist that prevent mining companies to set up shop in those attractive (electricity cost wise) areas.

imho there is no real restrictions. Mongolia is building up. they want to attract businesses and develop their economy. it seems numerous partnerships have already emerged between them and china, or even russia, with pluri-cultural/national cities, innovation centers etc etc...

Yeah I guess we don't know that, but I believe they may still be located in China. The prices friedcat has stated aren't that low, actually and I believe he may have gotten those prices even in China. I hope he is aware of the prices in Mongolia!

I read in Wikipedia that electricity is free is Turkmenistan. So, that should be the preferred choice to set up a mining firm.

You also have to factor in how easy or hard it is to actually start and maintain a mining operation in those countries. It could also prove difficult to gain access to the large quantities of energy needed to power a large mining operation.

And the stability of the country.  If some government sees that this factory is 'creating money' at the rate of several million per month, they could easily seize the factory / mining equipment for themselves.

Ohnoes, ur too late!

"Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov said his government is planning to end the unlimited supply of free natural gas to citizens."

Seriously tho, "free to households" != "free to foreigners setting up mega mining farms to exploit unmetered electricity."
You'd probably be shot, or, since we're talking about a *stan, more likely hanged--bullets cost money.

i have an idea, it not ethical but its an idea nonetheless. it takes the onus off where the power is and focus more on where cheap labor is Smiley

Lets hire cheap labor, right not the cheapest labor in the world is $0.01/hr(source:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_minimum_wages_by_country)

When setting up a mine build a large room next door, and instal lots and lots of excercise bikes with these: http://www.econvergence.net/The-Pedal-A-Watt-Bicycle-Generator-Stand-s/1820.htm

I reckon even with all in costs the kwh will be cheaper than lowest kwh currently. Green power ftw Smiley

As a penance we should make notlambchop do the most shifts

As part of a move to expand into supercomputing and deal with the excess heat that is a byproduct of bitcoin mining, BitFury Group, a bitcoin infrastructure provider and transaction processing company, has purchased Allied Control, which makes cooling systems for supercomputing and data centers.

http://www.gizmag.com/bitcoin-mining-cooling-system/35789/

Well, I guess that concludes the partnership between AM and AC...

They could have ongoing contracts. And if BitFury played their cards safe and wanted to hedge a bit, they'd sell AM some capacity to run their own chips. Very much like Apple still buys a ton of components for their iPhone from Samsung, its "arch nemesis".

I was looking at my AM spreadsheet tonight.
There are 2 shares of AM I bought for 4 BTC each.
And, 1 share for 4.2 BTC.

I died a little inside.

I didnt do quiet so bad as you but I certainly "bought high, sold low"
I felt a little better after I was able to recoup my position due to dive-bombing prices, still... now its "bought low, sell even lower?"
man, I sure hope not! I've been beaten black and blue in this securities game. Labcoin, ActiveMining... ugh! I'm really pulling for AM to save my bacon, at least partially, but things do not look great here.

I do not expect to see 4BTC/share again. That is simply unrealistic, you know, but if fuckin FriedCat would do us all a little tiny solid and fuckin turn on some self mining for the benefit of AM holders...just a bit of divs... I am convinced share value could approach 0.5, even 1 BTC if the divs are ok and regular.
Instead any hope of this is gone due to AMhash getting all the hashes. I really would like to see the financial breakdown of that deal, because I know AM needs to reinvest, BUT, I don't especially trust their business acumen, even if mine sucks.

EDIT-yeah! either that^^^^, or what xhomerx10 says, below \/\/\/\/

Well if you pretend Bitcoin was only worth between $70 and $100 when you made the purchase it might be a little easier to take.  Also if you buy another 12.2 Bitcoin worth today at 0.1BTC per share, you can lower your average buy price to 0.1952 BTC and when the share value goes to 0.1952 BTC with a successful BE300 miner announcement you can sell and get all your bitcoins back. His profile says he was last on line at January 26, 2015, 11:46:31 AM. If he made just a post and instantly deleted it that last online date would show today's date.
