People whining about continuous, non-zero block rewards look like fools to anyone with common sense.  There's this thing that exists called strong encryption where people that own the coins are eventually going to die or misplace them somehow, and the outside world will never have a chance to get to many of those coins.  It's the equivalent of having everyone on the planet bury their life savings on the ocean floor instead of using a bank.

It doesn't matter. Coins are fractional. Instead of using 10 coins to do a transaction, you'll simply use 5 if half the coins are lost - because the value of the remaining coins will double due to scarcity.

Given that you can go up to less than 1 coin (with 0.5, 0.2, 0.0003 etc) it's not a problem in any way.

Yes but then you create a deflationary currency which can be argued isn't economically viable. Look at the places that have deflationary currencies and see if you think its a great idea.

Will the funds be Escrow'd?

Seems Betmoose may be able to host it. If not then Im sure someone will escrow it for the normal fee.

People saying Messi completely didn't deserve the golden ball clearly havent looked at the stats. His completed dribbles and through balls as well as being the third top goalscorer attest to that. Not forgetting 4 man of the match appearances. Dont get me wrong Im not saying he was THE standout player but far from the addidas conspiracy I hear circling.

Addidas conspiracy interesting post link if u find this.

Yea Messi definitely didnt deserve this reward but we cant do anything about it.

I dont have a link to anything in particular. This is just the talk thats been going around.

I wasn't saying that he didnt deserve it, I was saying that he wasnt the only person who could have won it is all.

lol every exchange has minimal trading if you just decide to take out all the big trades lmao  Roll Eyes

New rules for discussing volumes;

Take out all trades above 500BTC as they are not real they are just manipulation buy and sells. No one could ever want to buy or sell that many coins  Roll Eyes

Last few years bitcoin was closed for summer and this year some want us to think it will be different. I think this year will be like it was before low volume and low price until october and than we will see it rise again it's just my opinion I have nothing to back it up.
Just wanted to tap myself on the back.  Grin

There's a long time left of summer for self congratulation to be on the cards. Remind me again how long did it take from Silk Road crash to real bubble mania ? Wink

[snip]

Monero is actually a Very interesting innovation, but the BTC/USD thread is just not the place to discuss it.

I agree, I wasnt looking to discuss it. We're all speculators here so it was worth a small post, not like BTC/USD observing is all that goes on in here Smiley

1009  Economy / Services / Re: XBTec - campaign terminated on: July 16, 2014, 11:23:15 AM
Still waiting for my payment. Neg feedback is being left I would ask for the assitance of somebody on default trust to help clear up this matter.

I don't think that would be an option. Roll Eyes

Kindly,
        MZ

Im not sure you know what your saying. Someone on default trusts feeback shows up as red unlike a normal member. Anway your not on default trust so nothing to worry about on your end.

Drop should start on 19h or 20th. And when Bitfinex starts executing its new rules on 21th we will have a perfect storm.

 Cool

Bitfinex on the 21st doesnt mean anything. People dont have to close their open positions, its just new ones that are affected.
There are plenty of other better exchanges than bitfinex anyway so who cares.

Well, if it was actually going to happen (all positions closed) it would be a fairly substantial sell off, just look at the longs on fenix, so we shoudl care. The point is it doesn't matter because it doesn't effect current positions.
Someone already have stated it only aplies to new positions.

yeah me in the post you replied to...  Roll Eyes
1012  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: July 16, 2014, 10:15:16 AM

Yeah, as I suspected the money is starting to flow into XMR again.

BBR, not so much. Unless there is simply a significant lag in BBR following XMR it looks like I might have overestimated the XMR/BBR correlation this time.

For sure, there's not enough different for it to co-exist on any significant level. I think even 10% of XMR price is too much. I don't doubt another cryptonote coin will achieve some success but it needs to offer something significant, BBR isn't even a hedge really.
1013  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 16, 2014, 10:08:14 AM
For anyone who doesn't follow alts, although two days ago was better, XMR is a solid buy at the moment. Some serious money going into it.

Monero looks like great new P&D coin and you are doing here just that Smiley

Thats exactly what its not due to the emmision curve etc. Im not pumpin Im saying its a solid buy due to the general trend being reversed, someone in this thread mentioned it to me months ago and thats what got me started in it so I was grateful for that. There are lots of people in XMR who don't normally buy any alts and its one of the first coins thats not based on Bitcoin. You don't have to be interested Smiley

In regards to portfolio allocation as an early investor in XMR with the rise in price from 0.000X XMR has become a much higher percentage of my portfolio than I either expected or would aim for. Its not 50-50 but its far from 99-1. At this point with what I still feel are cheap XMR I'm finding it very difficult not to make that percentage bigger let alone trying to diversify more and make it smaller!

As has been said 99/1 is easy with thousands of coins but if someone owned 10 BTC for example I would see it as a waste to only invest 1 if your well thought out analysis came to the conclusion of more upside in XMR, lets not forget were not talking about btc/fiat here we're talking about XMR/BTC which is another highly volatile asset in itself.
1018  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 15, 2014, 04:16:13 PM

I guess a popular quote with 4 words would be in order for this.

Its okay, you can say it !

If this breaks and is ready then... bullish as fuck.
1019  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: July 15, 2014, 04:15:01 PM
Is it inevitable that on the 21st when everyone needs to decrease their leverage position BTC is going to drop when thousands of BTC hit the market or am I missing something?

I dont think it applies to open positions. Just new ones. Therefore no reason to sell anything to reduce your leverage.
1020  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: July 15, 2014, 04:05:48 PM
The volume on BBR is increasing and XMR is starting to up again. This is reminding me of the last XMR run up.

Anyone expecting(or not) XMR to have another run up soon? Or are we going to be waiting a while for a news hit or some other catalyst?

I think a slightly slower run up will ensue absent some serious news. Its just finding its fair value which is always a volatile excercise. The volume boost as well as the buying back thats occuring are text book after a new coins run up, though I will admit they normally flatten out for longer. Im back in with what I sold between 0.009 and 0.01 (just my trading stash not my main) and will be increasing my investment as the technicals get confirmed.
