1021  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My Little Advice For Gamblers on: October 31, 2023, 01:14:43 PM
Death is one thing very few of us want to talk about or prepare for because it's a terrifying topic, but truth of the matter is everyone of us will walk down this road.
And honestly the better we confront this reality the better and if we know that that we can help family in one way or another should our assets pass onto someone more else then we need someone trust worthy to have this access...

But unfortunately with crypto where we have total control of such assets, am afraid to say these will remain forever locked unless he has some backups somewhere.

And in all his family, friends, no body knew the password to unlock his phone or computer, not even his girl friend.
They have tried all the password ideas they had but non was correct, at the end, they had to reset the phones back to their factory settings , right now as I am typing this post, the family have no idea how they can access the casinos where the guy left tens of thousands of dollars, and neither do they have any idea how to access the money.
With casinos, am pretty sure his ID can be used to grant them access to his account(s) or a court can be used aswell .

But resetting his mobile device won't help them and need to find other ways to gain access...

The guy is also an investor in crypto currencies, and I personally believe he also have investments in crypto coins which the family may also never be able to access.
These might never be recovered unless they are on some third party platform, but let them try to start with an email address to see what he has been up to...
1022  Economy / Speculation / Re: Has anybody expected this? on: October 31, 2023, 09:24:40 AM
Not that I'm a charting expert or a good technical or fundamental analyst let alone a bear, but I'm really surprised at the spike that's happened, and which is probably continuously happening as of this writing. So far, the price has already hit above $34,000. That's already more than 12% in growth in just 24 hours.
For someone like me that trades currencies, I will tell you that such moves are usually seen whenever there is news and I must make mention that this is the most volatile time to trade these assets as liquidity is more...
For crypto, this isn't any different as his usually happens when we have news, and this being a bullish spike means the news was in favour of the bulls and everyone is buying and you wouldn't want to catch a falling knife, trade with the trend which is currently bullish.

Has anybody somehow expected this kind of thing? Has anybody had at least a tiny clue that something like this would happen?
I think for the last couple of months, we all have been bullish in anticipation of the Bitcoin spot ETF and the halving, so I guess the move was very much expected despite it originating from a fake news approval.

Those who didn't buy when the price was around $26k since they were expecting a further drop must be regretting their decision now when there are no signs of it going back to that area anytime soon, but still, since the market is highly unpredictable, anything can happen, and the price might drop again.
Price hasn't travelled far enough for us to feel safe that it cannot come back to this price of 26K , besides for a higher high to be created a higher low needs to be posted which is the pullback before a new high is made..

Otherwise you are right about markets being unpredictable, though we still remain bullish even if price pulls back briefly..
1023  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the most weird thing you bought with crypto? on: October 31, 2023, 06:35:05 AM
Not sure if I can call it weird but I bought some ICO tokens  of a gaming project that I thought and looked promising on paper at the time ,and only realised I was given 90% of the total supply when I only bought a small fraction which was weird , but unlucky me this project went under the bus and still hold these shitcoins till this day  Tongue

Back when Netflix used to offer free trials there was a guy on Reddit who would create an account for you and I used to pay him a few bucks in BTC each month for a new account. It was better than paying full price. Sadly, Netflix stopped offering these trials because too many people were abusing it to get free or discounted subscriptions.
Bitcoins well spent, to save a few bucks love it Smiley

But if not mistaken, Netflix still offers these trials for some countries though this service of selling such accounts has gone down as sharing accounts isn't as easy as it was.

1024  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dangerous chasing losses on: October 31, 2023, 05:22:57 AM
Let's be honest here, casino games aren't anywhere near sport's betting, for sports betting you can manage to make a 3odds bet and stake your full bank roll and win but with casino games you can't always win in one hit and you should be ready to play a good number of hands before the game turns in favour of you, so a few losses are very much normal still you wait for your winning run to come and not necessarily that you are chasing your losses, but waiting for the winning train.

Conclusion: I will never gamble again when I’m bored or chase loss small amount. With this exhilarating experience. I think I will stop gambling for a long time and reflec on what dumb thing I do today.

Lol can relate, anything that offsets your mood can affect you potential to win and am pretty sure most gamblers have experienced this..
1025  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Between Profit And Conscience on: October 30, 2023, 07:11:11 PM
He thinks that with the lotto outlet, he will encourage people to gamble which is against his morals so it is a battle between his conscience and the profit.
It's good to know his a morally upright person, but like you said, his business isn't doing well and very few businesses can compete with the other big stores around...I think a business different from what's available is the best option and in this case the lotto outlet wouldn't be bad as his not the person running it and secondly some good money will be coming his way Smiley

To your friend, let him not feel guilty about this deal as his not the owner of the business and treat this as a business relationship and will not affect his moral compass.

So what's the best decision to take he is afraid if he lets go of this opportunity the lotto agent will eventually find a location in their place and eventually lose the opportunity to make a profit.
That's the risk that's there if he doesn't allow the Lotto outlet to setup shop, besides very few will commit to always pay him for whatever it is rentals, lease agreement benefits etc as few can compete with the big stores, otherwise let him transfer that competition to someone else and have a peace of mind!
1026  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: mempool on: October 30, 2023, 06:22:18 PM
Hey welcome to the Bitcointalk forum  Cool

Coming back to the topic, besides what mempool says which is a confirmed transaction by now( confirmations above 3 are a standard for most third party services that avoid double spending or a Reversal in simpler terms)...

From cryptospends side, has this transaction being acknowledged as a receipt of the said Bitcoins on their side? If yes, then your coins are ready for use ànd no need to wait for more confirmations , good luck.

1027  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: October 30, 2023, 04:47:58 PM
Francis Ngannou just left a real dent on the sport of Boxing after the weekends match, and Tyson Fury's ego and winning record should be dented by now because the people's choice says Tyson lost .
Had it not been for that 96-93 scorecard that saw the decider go to the wire by a split decision, Francis would have been the winner...and the organisers should be feeling guilty by now because they know it too.

Btw talk about the knockdown, bruised face, black eye and all other highlights of this match..all point in the direction of a Francis Ngannou win, and hope they find a way to correct this blunder.
1028  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin is magic internet money on: October 30, 2023, 04:29:49 PM
As a Blockchain Wizard, I'm convinced: Bitcoin is magic internet money.

Bitcoin might be not really money – but it's internet money. And it's not just internet money, it's magic internet money.
You make this sound like Bitcoin can not be used anywhere else besides the internet which is the wrong picture!!
The same way we use fiat IRL and online is pretty much the same way we can use Bitcoin without restrictions, and to ensure anybody doesn't run into problems a Bitcoin card can be used to facilitate these transactions.

We can attribute a lot of characteristics to Bitcoin but we really need to realize at some point, how magical Bitcoin is as an internet money.
By definition, it is internet money!

Bitcoin has a magical history, where it’s even unknown, who developed it. It's already very magical because probably, we will never know, who Satoshi Nakamoto really is. But for sure, he was a really good coder, who inventecd Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is Pseudonymous by nature which makes perfect sense to have the creator unknown and guarantee his security too..

And Bitcoin doesn't really exist, it's just code and we can "see" it in our wallet, we can't touch it like real cash, because it's only 0 or 1 (or hashs).
Would you say PayPal doesn't exist because its physical form is in bits of 1s and 0s ?? I doubt it, Bitcoin and PayPal aren't any different afaik and if people recognise PayPal to be real then Bitcoin deserves the same recognition!!!
1029  Other / Meta / Re: Services board is very hard to browse on: October 30, 2023, 01:38:39 PM
Not a bad idea, but then again if we are to consider which services serve the forum the most it will all point back to signature campaigns that also branch out to other services like signature designs, signature & avatar contests, and shows that they are an integral part of the forum and should be kept where they are...

Like what has been suggested already, what if a child board of "other digital services" were created to allow for easier listing of services to avoid the Sig cluster, I think this could work especially that the services benefit an individual that takes services away from the forum, unlike sigs that serve the forum .
1030  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What according to you should be the age to retire from gambling ? on: October 30, 2023, 01:24:18 PM
First we must understand that it's not about age as people gamble for different reasons like:
  • people gamble for fun
  • people gamble to make money(profit)
  • others gamble for the purpose of socializing
  • others gamble to try get distracted from something, etc

But if we try to put an age when people need to retire from gambling, it might be considered as some kind of discrimination but perfect time to stop is when you have other responsibilities that need your time and can't make time to gamble anymore then this should tell you that you are done... otherwise age shouldn't be something to tell you that you are done!
1031  Economy / Economics / Re: You can't meet all your needs/desires at once, even if you spend all your salary on: October 30, 2023, 11:27:58 AM
They say a bird in hand is better than two birds in the bush and like you said "human needs are insatiable " and if we marry these two days it gives a hint that our lifestyles will always be like this , nomatter how much help you give it will never be enough, nomatter how much one tries to sort out problems today they to will not be enough as other responsibilities will pop out..which tells me let's be prudent and work with  available resources nomatter how small they go a long way, if it's saving some money for small Bitcoin investments let it be..in the future this will make financial sense and is advisable to work with whatever resources are available!!
1032  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is doubling your investment more probable than we think? on: October 30, 2023, 06:09:36 AM

I know that these are all pure assumptions, but instead of speculating massive ATH and 3x or 4x returns, which are way too common in the forum, why not expect something that is more probable to happen in the near future?
The reason for the high assumptions is because It's easier to achieve higher returns when a coin just gets listed onto the markets than a coin that has been in the markets for a long time, and in this case Bitcoin has been around for a while and seems to have slowed down greatly because the majority of crypto users aren't buying a whole Bitcoin because of the high price and will need investor money to push it higher.

And to be honest, doubling your investment is a great yield that cannot easily be found in other forms of investment.
Any investment strategies that allow for easy doubling of capital can not be found in the open,if it were this easy people would have been super rich by now.

In the case of Bitcoin, it was easy to make 5x or 10x your capital because this was undervalued at the time and it grew with demand, and unfortunately today it seems to have slowed down because price has gone up alot and will need deep pockets for the doubling to be possible once again.
1033  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have we seen the lowest low of this bear market? on: October 29, 2023, 10:50:53 PM
Since the FTX crash I listened a lot to Gareth Soloway and Nicholas Merten from Datadash. Both expected lower lows. Soloway even expected BTC to get under 10k at some point. With the recent price rise I'm a bit worried that the ship has sailed. In his most recent video he no longer mentioned these lows. He even mentioned a 50k possibility for this year.
For all I know, is that these guys have swallowed their words one too many times and will keep making their wild guess as these predictions are there just to try and help them remain relevant, otherwise at the end of the day these are predictions that can or cannot happen as it's always a probable chance!

What are your thoughts? How big of a price rise do you expect if an ETF gets approved?
If there is something I like about Bitcoin when it comes to highly anticipated events, they never disappoint when it comes to price soaring and an ETF approval could potentially go for the sky, a new all time high (ATH)

And is a scenario of World War III (Israel + USA + NATO vs an alliance of Islamic countries) bullish or bearish?
This war does threaten doing business in person and for people that don't want the hassle of carrying valuables or cash...Bitcoin is definitely the way to go especially with the current events of war easily make crypto bullish.
1034  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Looking back at the past, one of those statements gained respect over time. on: October 29, 2023, 07:28:18 PM
I don't know if you still know or know this man, but for me it was one of the memories when I first searched for information related to bitcoin and accidentally saw his analysis. I also used to think that what he said was ridiculous because, at that time, maybe my understanding of the banking system or the economy was too silly. The things he said at that time made me just think that maybe bitcoin is a ponzi project and hires some people to spread it.
Let us just say I watched 100s of crypto videos on YouTube at the time, and unfortunately too many crypto influencers I followed at the time were associated with scam projects which made me stop following these guys as they proved to be in the game for financial gain only, the last guy I followed was actually a bitcointalk member Ian Bala...something because he stood as an adviser for a good project I followed and was quite influential Roll Eyes

I remember seeing several of this kind of videos but don't recall seeing such a face unfortunately...
1035  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [banned mixer] 🦁 Fantasy Premier League Pool ⚽ Discussion Thread on: October 29, 2023, 07:02:32 PM
Yeah, now that he's even on penalty duty, Haaland is a must pick. I will reshuffle in order to get him, I'm in too good position so far without him but I feel I've pushed my luck a bit too far.
Thanks for the insight and didn't expect him to perform as good as he did thinking this was going to be one of those fixtures that Haaland blanks like he did last week... and had to reassign captain duties to another player which sacks because the Norwegian is among the highest scoring in this gameweek  and missed out on these extra valuable points Tongue

I tried to be cute and captain Watkins as I like playing around with whoever is facing Luton, that's 13pts down the drain from Haaland  Embarrassed
Same boat with my Son..12 points off Haalands score Ouch
1036  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are you any of pump groups or Channel ? on: October 29, 2023, 05:09:17 PM
Im on with notourious powerpump team yesterday they pumped yfi i made nice profit with them.
Tell me your experince about pump ?
Never tried them but read all kinds of stories coming from such investments which has always painted a picture of a pyramid scheme that works for the first investors who get their profits early  but anybody investing last usually is caught in the middle and holds onto losses.

My experinces are good to be honest most of money i Made with pump.
I remember when ETC pumped i Made from 10$ to 500$ in few hours i don't Understood why people don't like pumps it's really great i have made real money from pumps.
Looks like this works for you, and btw is this leveraged trading or something because these numbers look good, if someone invested $100 thy could have got 5k and if its $1000 you talking of $50000, care to share your strategy...

Today poweroump team will pump LTC let's see how high they send it
You seem convinced with these groups, if it works for you don't change the winning formula Smiley
1037  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin may not hit $24,750 again in 2023 - I'm bullish till 2024 on: October 29, 2023, 01:13:23 PM
I think we aren't in the clear just yet because the distance between 33k and 24k isn't much for us to say never for 2023, and the fact that we have seen price drop over 5K in a blink of an eye several times in Bitcoins life span shouldn't give us the confidence to be cocky. Btw if price can go up by 5K then it can pretty much go down 5K too, but hoping it stays in the green as we come to the end of the year.

This chart is on the monthly and the anticipated move can actually take years to go back up should it start consolidating or anything in those lines, but with the halving, ETF approval in the pipeline we could see some huge green candles to record a new all time high.
1038  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anti-Gambling Tools on: October 29, 2023, 08:38:59 AM
Things like daily limits should be put on the player and not the gambling house, am pretty sure we all want them to have certain tools to help control gambling habits but there is  a limit to how far they can help and the rest is up to us to fix our problem's. Besides if gambling is negatively affecting a user, I think self exclusion should be the option to take which I believe most casinos and sportsbooks have.

I'm curious if any of you have faced a similar situation and if there are tools or methods you've found effective in controlling crypto gambling. It feels like most platforms lack daily limits or deposit controls, making it a bit challenging to stay on track.

AFAIK very few have such tools because they try to maximize on how much profits they want to milk from us and will deliberately not want to have them...and will always be a personal effort.
1039  Economy / Economics / Re: why super rich pay no tax but suggest giving all their wealth away (eventually) on: October 29, 2023, 06:19:05 AM
I know liabilities like these are good for a business to give the impression of a healthy financial standing, but doesn't servicing a loan mean it's cutting through the companies profits ??
Btw not only can the super rich avoid paying taxes, Businesses have always found legal ways of avoiding paying taxes and this is done by most companies as far as am concerned , but  what's interesting about this is that does this mean these guys don't plan on paying back the loan after such a transaction? And isn't it easy for Capital gains to be applied here with or without the losses as they can  be deducted in case losses are recorded..
1040  Economy / Economics / Re: Almost All Countries Affected by Inflation, Opportunity for Bitcoin! on: October 28, 2023, 07:49:47 PM
Am looking at these figures and spotted Zimbabwe who have a fairly good inflation rate than most**surprisingly*... yet we all know these guys are in deep trouble to the point of their local currency being declared redundant and sanctions aren't  doing them any favours at the moment which makes them the perfect candidate to adopt crypto.

And in as much as inflation negatively affects economies, not all counties have been brought to their knees for the same reason, some its war, others natural disasters etc And for those  affected financially I believe Bitcoin can fill that void to allow the continuity in running the affairs of country.
