1101  Economy / Speculation / Re: Smart Money has left the building… Have you? on: January 25, 2012, 07:05:53 PM
So is that few month old video some sort of secret message telling CBS and FOX insiders to invest in bitcoin? Or am I missing something? It seems you are making unsubstantiated statements in regards to the last two months of trading and it being caused by CBS and FOX.

But yes we are going down, down, down where we stop nobody knows.

I think he just counts on the readers to invent interpretations.
1102  Economy / Speculation / Re: How long this correction will take? on: January 25, 2012, 05:28:04 PM
OK - I think now is a good time to revive my question.  So far it does look like a prolonged correction.
1103  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin about to TAKE OFF!!! on: January 25, 2012, 03:44:05 PM
Posts that try to be funny but fail miserably are a bearish sign.
1104  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis & other financial markets (bitcoinbullbear.com) on: January 25, 2012, 07:04:06 AM
brief update: http://bit.ly/xBq5et

Hmm - that triangle there (it is in http://www.bitcoinbullbear.com/ - for those that don't like clicking too much) had bottom at 6.25 yesterday at 2pm - now it would be about 6.3 - so it is broken down already.
1105  Economy / Speculation / Re: A little more on technical analysis.. on: January 24, 2012, 09:01:16 PM
no one thinks the price is going up?

i'm beginning to think that market is dominated at the moment by one large entity on both sides, 1/3 of bids and 1/2 of asks, probably holds bitcoinica starfished as well. other participants are too rational and refuse attempt to move market in any direction.  over 90% of actual market speculation is gone. we won't move anywhere significantly without new news and new players/money joining in. what we see on the market right now is approximate bitcoin economy volume trading. this is pure speculation and i could be wrong.

You know this has been the case for months now right?

I think we are being held here. Every time the price moves down, a wall pops up to stop it. Likewise, when the price rises, even pushing through a moderate wall, another one pops up a little higher.
...
When I sell I do that in this manner - don't you all do that?  I am sure bitcoinica does that and all the bigger players that use bots.  Only when I feel a crash coming I sell in big bunches and only when I sleep I sometimes leave walls that betray my intentions.  If I start earning enough to justify the effort I'll write a bot for this - but for now I do that manually.

no one thinks the price is going up?
It'll go up until it bounces back again from 6.6 or 6.55.
1107  Economy / Speculation / Re: Remember why you are here on: January 20, 2012, 06:16:59 PM
This thread is a bearish sign.
1108  Economy / Speculation / Re: zero hour for the downtrend on: January 20, 2012, 03:23:22 PM
Whoever just cleared the last of my old sells at $6.50 has my gratitude.  Of course, if it hits $7 before it hits $6 from here, I'll wish I hadn't said anything publicly.

Kudos for patience. I sold another batch too low, frankly I didn't believe they would rally this high, especially not right away.

@Thread:
Are trends some kind of new religion? Why should the trading price over time be aligned to straight lines, and even if they are at times, why should it have some special meaning?

Much of it is self-fulfilling - but I think there is a grain of objective phenomena in them - if you want to buy and you see the price climbing you try to adjust your offer and people do that adjustment as if the price was moving linearly.
1109  Economy / Speculation / Re: Has anyone received funds from bitcoinica recently? on: January 19, 2012, 11:37:38 PM
OK - exchanging to BTC and doing a BTC transfer worked.  Maybe not in minutes - but in about an hour it was on my MtGox account.
1110  Economy / Speculation / Re: Has anyone received funds from bitcoinica recently? on: January 19, 2012, 10:06:12 PM
OK.  I have some BTC bought on leverage - plus the pending withdrawal.  Assuming that my marging should cover the BTC at the current price without leverage - how could I withdraw the BTC instead of USD?

Liquidate->Exchange Profits->Withdrawal

As for doing it without losing  a few percent, I don't think it's possible.
Hmm - but I would not be able to do that while there is a * at the buy button?
1111  Economy / Speculation / Re: Has anyone received funds from bitcoinica recently? on: January 19, 2012, 09:51:27 PM
(you could also reveal al transactions like MtGox - but this is just a side note)
My impression was that this would greatly increase the danger of squeezes, since anyone could calculate how much money a squeeze would cost them.

Trades data is not enough to calculate the zhoutong price (and it also does not need to be associated with any account id - just the price and amount).

look at it from Z's perspective

folks are screaming to be allowed to go long on margin

and screaming for instant access to their fiat

whats he supposed to poop USD out his ass??

I do not use his service, though the show is amusing, but there is no real indication I have seen that he is a bad actor or is ripping anyone off.

You play in the bucket shop and they get low on funds?  Cross your fingers and hope they do not fold up altogether.

I remember him claiming many times, in this forum, that bitcoinica is not a bucket shop, but yeah - why should I believe that?

If Bitcoinica is a bucket shop then you'll not see the asterisk and instead we let you buy whatever you want and then dump coins in the market to force liquidate you and pocket all your money.

This is not what it happened. So we are not a bucket shop.

There's no better way to prove it either. We have already disclosed the daily hedging volume.

That's nice (you could also reveal al transactions like MtGox - but this is just a side note).   The more important question is - what is the problem with withdrawals!?  Why you don't approve them?   Is that related to MtGox limits?  Or you have mixed client funds with company reserves?
1114  Economy / Speculation / Re: RALLY! on: January 19, 2012, 06:16:34 PM
$6-7 is very stable and solid range for bitcoin to be at imo.
with  mature and responsible market we could float in this range for a long time

but with confidence and pressure building up at support we will be testing resistance at higher ground, especially with the new money coming in
All statements like this one had a very short life time in the past.

By the way - there is no * at buy button in bitcoinica - someone has sold all he wanted?

yes, many expect/ed to drop to $5 possibly to $4
we're back on track with the bull race, $7 is within our reach, support is strong and confining

Yes, but based on recent events, I realize we can get the Mighty Smack Down at a moments notice.

I will monitor and access to my trades on Gox at all times, use Jessi's Alert Tool, and trade back into USD
every night before going to bed.  If I have to leave my trades unattended for any length of time, then back
to USD they go!

You can also get a mighty push up.  Converting back to USD on every night is only filling MtGox coffers.  But whatever - I know people are risk averse - it is established that they weight their loses 2 times more then the gains, this probably was a good strategy when the loses meant that you could not eat and die.  If you are so risk-averse - then why do you keep any funds at MtGox at all?  It can go puff in any second like MF Global.
1117  Economy / Speculation / Re: Has anyone received funds from bitcoinica recently? on: January 19, 2012, 05:43:22 PM
as long as the * is up, no one gets USD's  Grin

Shocked !!! That's not how it's supposed to work, is it?

that IS how it works.  the * on the ask price (BUY button) means all USD reserves have been depleted and used to buy Bitcoins on mtgox.

Reserve does not mean client money - but yeah - on this wild west this should not be a big surprise.

Yeah - that would mean mixing client funds with company funds (MF Global anyone).  Not that this would be especially shocking after mybitcoin.
1119  Economy / Speculation / Re: Starfished for over 3 hours? on: January 19, 2012, 03:46:59 PM
Don't feel bad it likely is all play money anyways.

I can't cash out for over 4 days now.

Quote from: Bitconica casino & hotel
PENDING APPROVAL Mt. Gox limit reached temporarily

So I am not alone in this situation - this smells fishy.  There was so much drama about the liquidations - wouldn't it be ironic if it turned the mycoin way in the end?
1120  Economy / Speculation / Re: Has anyone received funds from bitcoinica recently? on: January 19, 2012, 01:29:33 PM
I've pulled BTC out.

I had to use bitcoin-based withdrawl rather than MTGOX code though.

Did it go through the 'approval' stage as well?
