1161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 12, 2016, 04:17:31 AM
You know I'm becoming convinced that these markets are manipulated. Why would a loser project like "pot coin" rise so hard and crash so fast like that? Nobody should have ever even heard of it. People were talking about FOMO on "pot coin". FOMO ON "POT COIN". What!?

I know this is probably not news to anyone but im naturally extremely skeptical of everything. So I wasnt convinced till now. But closely watching the rise and fall of "pot" has convinced me. I just cant comprehend an organic growth driven process for what that "pot coin" chart looks like. So I really think some group of people pushes these things up in large conspiratorial calculated moves.

If this is the case they probably did it to our baby monero too. They used and abused her. Most of the buyers almost certainly had no understanding of the potential like we do. And I mean the market leaders not just the whale chasing FOMO zombies. That's not at all why they were buying.

But hey they say no press is bad press. So we will probably settle at a higher level than we started thanks to this "pump" and we still have the organic adoption to look forward to.

Fluffypony and I both got married on the exact same day (of the exact same year) Shocked. What are the chances?

Are you his wife, that would make it 100%. Cheesy
Sure, that was easy  Grin

No. It wasn't a riddle. I'm not his wife. It's just a crazy weird coincidence.

Careful giving out so much personal info you'll have to change your Moniker to Known136! Tongue

I actually did an interview with my face in it before. So ever since then I have considered my corporeal identity sufficiently compromised as to not care any more. If someone wants to figure it out they can. Don't know why they would though.

It shows that we have good taste in dates, and in dates!

Whats your favorite brand of dates? Cheesy

My wife picked that day because she knows I'm a big doofus who can't keep up with anything. Wondering if yours had a similar motivation. Grin

Hes asking for 34 dollars an hour right? I don't know how experienced and effective of a software developer he is, but if he is experienced and effective that sounds around about a market wage for that line of work.

I'm betting this could be contracted out for about half that.

Yea maybe. Some people are worth more than others though. My wife works in food service and shes just so competent her employer pays her twice as much as her peers. Idk whether he is or isn't worth twice as much as some random chinese contractor but he might be.

The pain was getting too painful. I had to step away for a while. Wasn't expecting to see this when I came back. Dare I cautious optimism? Smiley

Optimism about what?

A price floor or a trend reversal. Duh.

I feel like you are setting up to make some sort of "point" and I'm walking into your trap

Nah you are reading too much. I was trying to gauge more along the lines of fundamentals that have changed suddenly for anyone to be cautiously optimistic. At the moment (and even short to mid term) it is a caustic asset in my analysis.

Interesting. I dont think the fundamentals ever changed really. Before the great rise the price was way too low and I feel like it corrected way too much after. I'm optimistic about what looks like, might be, a shifting of sentiment.

Yes, as sad as it is, Monero will definitely be used for future ransomware payments.
I expect the same for any coin that gets decent traction and has strong privacy features.
There have been ransomware operations earning upwards of a million dollars a month in payments.
That is a lot of new customers buying coins if they shift to Monero.
As much as I hate it, we will probably profit because of the innocent people being forced to buy Monero to unlock their files.  Tongue

Is ransomware really that bad? I mean its better to have to pay some dude a few thousand dollars than to have your major competitor silently monitoring your network activity for years, or silently scooping up confidential customer information, or nickel and dimeing for years office space style. The extortionist is discovering your vulnerabilities for you so that you can patch them (if that be through social engineering it makes no difference). Firms hire pen testers and pay them up front. How different is this really except you pay the pen tester on the back end?

I actually sold bitcoin to an institution that had its database encrypted with ransom ware. The hacker only wanted like 600 bucks. For a big institution. It was really a pretty reasonable fee for uncovering a vulnerability.

I know, I know. It's basically the business model of governments. Provide service without asking if anyone even wants the service then unilaterally decide the price afterwards. Im not justifying it. Its not a good thing. It's still wrong. I just wanted to point out that they are actually providing a useful service.
1178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 08, 2016, 12:50:37 AM
I ran the first exchange for XMR, I've coded a fully functional portal for both accepting and sending XMR payments. I protected merchants from hackers and saved one from losing 2380 XMR. I've donated ~3000 XMR to development of XMR. I'm market making with tens of thousands of dollars on bitsquare to help grow the decentralization and privacy. And now I'm warning about consistently bad traders. What the hell have you done? FUDing about dark markets getting shut down? Thanks for confirming your sock puppet.

Damn. That's quite the resume. Predictions moving forward? Are we building a floor here around 0.01?

Looks like i am done investing in XMR now, i refuse to buy above 0.011, i will save my last bitcoins(0.67), losing money(currently 60$) for not buying really sucks. Currently my profit is only 250$, that sucks. The people that sold below 0.011 must have horrible anxiety right now, it took some balls to hold and buy even more(i chickened out and didn't go all in).

I have a feeling the price might drop below 0.011 again, will keep a few bids there in the case that happens.

Aww. How seriously you take such tiny numbers is adorable! I don't mean that to be mean. I'm serious. Made me smile. Cheesy
