121  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do casinos do with inactive accounts? on: April 16, 2024, 04:41:18 PM
What do casinos do with inactive accounts? And what does inactivity mean - not logging in to your casino account or logging in say every two months without playing any game?

I also learned that there is something called a dormancy fee or maintenance charges on those inactive accounts which covers for administrative cost incurred by those accounts. I learned that the deduction is from the remaining balance in the account. What about inactive accounts without any balance? On the other hand, what type of fee is charged on an active account?

I think it depends on the gambling website on their stipulated ToS on what will happen when your account becomes inactive.

There are casinos that do not have any restrictions when a certain account becomes inactive; whereas there are certain casinos that may suspend/terminate your account when it reaches an inactivity level beyond the threshold on what is stipulated.

Though this may be the case, I do think that inactive accounts are put into stand-by to the point that it is not fully terminated even without any movement for a couple of months.
The reason is because once you have submitted your KYC documents, such is already binding to that account.

Also, a person who quits gambling may decide to play again after a long hiatus- submitting the same KYC documents is not only tiresome/hassle but it may also pose future problems (e.g. proving that the KYC documents are yours, etc.).
122  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can you be bold enough To introduce your gambling Mate To your spouse on: April 16, 2024, 03:05:45 PM
Yesterday something happened I Was shocked And speechless, because I know quite Alright that I cannot even try it with My Wife . I Was standing patiently AT the Bus Station waiting for Bus with so many other Persons there Too with same reason , a man walked To bus Station with his Wife And he saw one of his friends sitting down with us and he shouted his name ‘charles’ you are here ,And immediately he Turned To his Wife ‘darling ‘ meet My Friend Charles we both play gamble AT same place And the Wife responded positively.

At that point I Was a bit confused If the man is actually proud To announce To us that he is a gambler or If he does not have any other way of introducing his Friend to his Wife , though I kept every of My thought in My mind because speaking it out will not make any difference.however, the question here is ‘can you be bold enough to introduce your gambling mate to your wife’.

I think it depends on the setup with your spouse if you are confident enough to let her know about your gambling habits.

If your gambling habits does not interfere in fullfilling your responsibility as a husband to your family, then I do not see any reason on why NOT to tell your wife about the friends you met along the way. Additionally, having to introduce a friend to your wife should be a no brainer considering that you should keep no secrets or anything whatsoever with your partner.

At the end of the day, you must be fully transparent with your spouse about everything. If you want to have a happy marriage that consist of no secrets, then be ready to tell everything even if it may prejudice you.
123  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Celebrity Poker Games: Publicity Stunt or Genuine Passion? on: April 13, 2024, 05:48:53 PM
Do you think their participation helps to popularize the game and bring it to a wider audience, or is it just another platform for their publicity?

Any your thoughts and any stories or cases of celebrity gambling that caught your attention. Have you come across any celebrities who are serious about their gambling pursuits? Or do you feel like these appearances are more for show than for the love of the game?

Some celebrities really do gamble just because of the anxiety high that they feel whenever they bet. Given that they have the money, they can do high risks bets and that would not be an issue if they lost.

There are celebrities, however, that gamble because they are somehow associate with the gambling website.

Best example here would be Drake- he is quite popular in the gambling world given that he had multiple hundreds to millions of dollars in bets that both won and lost at the same time. Given that he has a part in Stake, it is no surprise that he gambles BOTH for the advertisement and to feed his gambling urges.

Another example would be Bruno Mars as he was recently on the news with some alleged rumors that he has a debt (which was disproven) with MGM. But in reality, they are really partners in which Bruno would perform in MGM and the latter would compensate him in the form of cash + gambling credits.
124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DO NOT BRAG ABOUT YOUR BITCOIN on: April 13, 2024, 04:33:53 PM
Talking about Bitcoin in public, I don't think this is a problem as long as they don't know how much we have collected. Moreover, if our delivery is good, of course there will be those who are interested in learning about it and this will make Bitcoin continue to grow and for those who have Understanding Bitcoin well will of course keep your wallet keys well and don't give them to other people so that the assets we own are not used by irresponsible people.

What you appear is quite reasonable and true, meaning don't attract the attention of many people even though the value of our asset ownership is only a few, if you want to educate BTC even for our close friends, you don't have to look very detailed with just a small example that is easy to understand.

In general we all have mobile phones and our average assets may also be stored there in trading applications provided by exchanges. And often we unconsciously carry out trading activities in public places that are very easily monitored by others. I think this should also be taken care of as well for security as well.

I agree with the points you raised but just to add to what OP has provided, there is a big distinction between bragging and educating.

When you brag your BTCs, you are blindly telling to everyone that you have "x" amount of BTCs in your wallet. It is like you are saying that you have $1 million on your bank without providing any details as to how you acquired the said amount. Additionally, you are putting yourself in a security risk that may definitely compromise your safety as a whole.

When you educate a person about cryptocurrencies, you explain on what processes are involved in order to acquire BTCs in the process. You educate people by giving them insights and sharing your experiences that can be helpful when a person decides to start their cryptocurrency journey.

In other words, don't give a man a fish; teach a man how to fish and they wll be satisfied until the end.
125  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you feel when you experience violence while gambling on: April 13, 2024, 03:39:23 PM
This idea gave me the impression that some people can be very dangerous as a result of lossing money while gambling And i aslo learnt My lessons today . However, i Dont know If you have actually experienced such things At the betting shops And If yes How do you feel or react At the situation? .

Remember that gambling involves money; and money has been the root of all evil since time immemorial. When it comes to conflicts where people would lose money in the process, there happens to be a height of emotions that can be felt that is responsible on why people become violent when they lose a bet.

Fortunately, I have not experienced any violence when I entered into dozens of physical casinos and participated in home-casinos arranged by my friends and peers. I guess we just thought that resorting to violence would be a waste of time given that it will NOT change what they have lost in the process.

Stick with online or heavily regulated and secured brick and mortar casinos.  With this much money involved and unfortunately people's livelihoods at stake I don't like being around a volatile situation.  For me gambling is used for entertainment.  Anytime i feel like the situation is risky or unsecured I split.  No fun in looking over your shoulder the whole time.

I do agree with what you stated.

Generally, big and established casinos have securities around the area to control the environment just in case violence starts.

Though this may be the case, there was a famous case that happened last 2017 in the Philippines where one of the big casinos have been attacked by a single gunner. He set fire on the casino tables and it created smoke that killed 36 people in the process.1

126  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to be more visible in the forum as a beginner on: April 13, 2024, 02:56:40 PM
While there may be some boards that have more traction and discussion among the others, I do believe that it is all about creating a discussion and on how you communicate your thoughts are.

A well-explained and concise replies are the elements to a good writing that can gain you the visibility that you are hoping for. At the end of the day, it is not all about visibility but everything revolves around contribution. In the grand scheme of things, once you contribute and help others, it also indirectly affects your "visibility" as a beginner.

I hope that most newbies understand that it is not about creating topics that can gain you merits but it is about contribution; the latter being the heart that derives everything from what newbies attain- just like BITCOIN!

While I do appreciate the extensive discussion that you provided, the same can be achieve in a shorter yet concise statements with the right explanation and words to choose. Good luck, OP.
127  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Listahan ng mga Crypto Platform, Trading Platform Blocked by SEC on: April 13, 2024, 02:11:12 PM
Just a quick question, if blocked ang isang crypto/trading platform dito sa bansa natin pero we can still access their application, ano ang magiging implications nito if patuloy natin ginamit? Malalaman ba ng SEC kung may mga transactions tayo na ginawa if patuloy natin ginagamit ito despite its blocked status?

Curious ako kasi I am really looking for an alternative sa coins.ph. I was thinking Binance sana pero considering na blocked na siya by SEC, I fear na baka may legal implications that may prejudice my credit standing or anything sa ating government.

Lastly, since I am also looking for alternatives sa coins.ph, ano ma-issuggest niyo? I am currently trying GCash Crypto pero the prices ng pag buy/trade ay relatively mas mataas compared sa ibang exchanges.
128  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler lost what he couldn't afford to lost and broke his TV after game Lost on: April 13, 2024, 10:03:25 AM
I still cannot settle with the fact that some people are still very much one way minded when making decisions. Action and reaction are equal and opposite, this still applies to almost everything we do in life. His was only thinking about his action converting for him and never thought of the effect it could have on him upon losing. Now the reaction was more than his lost funds, he destroyed his television set in the process which led to a double loss.

I don't pity such people, he deserved what he got because it wasn't an accident, but an intentional act. I only hope he  learned his lessons

I agree with what you have mentioned.

Even if someone tries to argue that the person did such thing in spite of his rage, still, that does not justify his actions of destroying stuff that costs lots of money in the process. If a person is indeed on the height of their emotions, there is the tendency where they make questionable decisions that would affect them in the long run.

Gambling should always be about fun with the element of profit and not the other way around. If you have this tunnel vision of profiting from gambling while ignoring all the signs, then expect a bumpy and dangerous road ahead.
129  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is gambling to you, a fanfare or potential financial havoc? on: April 13, 2024, 07:33:23 AM
How can one draw a line between having fun and getting addicted since they occurr in the same process?

It really depends on the perspective and the reason on why you want to gamble in the first place.

Generally, people who gamble have this expectation that they may win the jackpot or at least big on their first run. Unfortunately, these expectations are far from reality as it creates this endless cycle of chasing your losses by through gambling again.

In order to resolve this problem, a person must set realistic expectations when they want to gamble. Additionally, having a designated/allocated budget every time they gamble may help mitigate any excess expenditures as they are compelled to stop when that budget runs out.

Would education on gambling side effect help some people nor to get too engaged in it despite the thrilling experience it can offer?

Yes definitely- education has a direct impact in order to mitigate any problems about addiction.

When a person is educated, they understand the risks that are involved in a given scenario. For example, if a person knows the risks associated with gambling, then they can be extra careful when it comes to their expenses as they want to avoid falling into the trap of addiction.

Though this may be the case, there are still people who are educated but still suffer from addiction. This is where necessary steps must be taken in order to remedy this situation as this can be more challenging to solve.

130  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The dangers of AI to us as they can be use for crypto stealing malwares on: April 12, 2024, 05:56:32 PM
It is not an exploitation of artificial intelligence, but this is the trend at the moment. They are exploiting any opportunity that enables them to make money or convince users to download random applications.  adhere to the simple rule that says to avoid downloading any application that you do not trust and to research carefully before downloading.

Just to add on what OP provided, the creation of AI and its application to the modern age can be both a boon and a bane.

With recent technological advancements being developed and created, it is obvious that its integration into our world is inevitable. Unfortunately, this tool is also used in order to perpetuate fraud and deceive the general public with its various applications, such as creating fake advertisements with seemingly real photos (computer-generated), a lengthy whitepaper (most likely AI-generated), and fake credentials that had been grabbed from legit and genuine projects.

The only way in order to combat against these scammers is for the public to be cautious and doubtful for every transaction or project they enter into. Like what I always mention, it is 100% better to prevent a disease rather than to cure it- better avoid projects and their red flags than to be lured into their seemingly good offers.
131  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do some people hide to gamble on: April 12, 2024, 04:58:26 PM
My curiosity led me closer to them I was interacting with one of them and at same time observing what they are doing , one thing I observed was that they stake with huge amount and they don’t give you change even when your money requires change instead you will use it and bet for another round.

So at this point I decided to bring it here to know or see different views from different intellects here on why do some people hide just to gamble or if it is the best way to gamble ?.

It depends on a variety of reasons, such as:

  • Tax implications of gambling;
  • Lack of necessary permits that makes it illegal;
  • Embarrassment/bias from the general public;
  • Avoiding any form of attraction and crowd from the people; or
  • Religion implications.

Again, there are a few reasons on why people hide their gambling activities from the public. Obviously, if they gamble on the streets and the police discovers this, they may be questioned about their activities given that there are countries that contain strict gambling laws/regulations. Additionally, there are also countries which prohibit gambling on their practice and this may have implications on their safety and security.
132  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Gambling: Modern entertainment or highly addictive game? on: April 12, 2024, 04:12:04 PM
Besides, online gambling games do not require one person to observe the other, so they become very simple. Players seem to be absorbed in the virtual world and forget about the people around them, the games continue one after another, so they are more likely to become addicted to games on the screen. What is online gambling in your personal opinion? Are your feelings different from when you play traditional gambling? Does it affect your gambling habits when you play online? Please share your experiences here.

With the emergence of the popularity of online gambling, it seems that everyone is curious about it which creates a chain reaction among new users.

I think there has to be some sort of control over the advertisements of online gambling. Almost all social media platforms have hired influencers and YouTubers to advertise different online gambling platforms. In addition, these advertisements tend to influence the public about its perception being safe with all the free spins, rewards, etc. that it offers. Again, this creates a very dangerous precedent to the young as it also breaks their curiosity by trying it.

Online gambling is very different from physical gambling as there are different purposes. When a person tries gambling on an online platform, they mainly do it for the profit. There is no socialization involved and the only thing that is present is the player and the gambling game. In a physical casino, there happens to be socialization among the people and it creates this environment where people would get to meet and talk among each other.
133  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How many times in a year should a professional boxer or UFC fighter fight? on: April 12, 2024, 03:23:42 PM

It takes about 3-4 months to rest your body from getting knocked out. In combat sports like boxing, as far as I know, fighters have to be given time to prepare for the next fight in 3-4 months and this duration is their training and achieving weight for the next fight.

The boxing organizations during the time of Mike in 1985 I think weren't very sort out yet, a few more accidents have to be considered before some rules are ironed.

I actually agree to the points you have raised.

Some may argue that boxers/fighters of the past are more strong and firm given that they can have multiple fights in the course of a year but things are really different compared today.

What differs the fight from today compared to the past are the organizers, promoters, and advertisements. Remember that nowadays, there are multiple promoters/organizers that want to take the opportunity of advertising each boxer in order to gain more viewers; and of course more viewers equate to more money. Also, people want to watch fighters who have drama; they will create this artificial trashtalk between the said fighters to gain hype and attraction to everyone.

At the end of the day, the fights revolve around money and cash. The more time you have between each fight, the more advertisements and promoters would be involved that equates to more cash in the process.
134  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would a gamblers statistics in graph and chart form, be of any help? on: April 12, 2024, 01:53:45 PM
Would a data showing the users statistics in graph and chart form, comparing ones gambling habit over a duration, help to curb gambling addiction or enforce strict control?

If graphs, charts and diagrams could help a company or startup to project and know the progress the company or business has made annually or periodically, with concise economic details and investment as well as returns, then don't you think gambling and betting sites should have such user statistics presented in chart form and readily available upon just a click, to the user, so that it helps them know if they have become addicted knowingly or unknowingly and as such, gain control over their gambling or betting habits?

What do you think?

I think it can be helpful but the graphs and data must be presented in a way that it can clearly see the distinction between a gambler suffering from addiction and from a normal person.

If the graphs are well explained to the point that even a five year old can understand, then it can be helpful to a certain extent. The problem here is actually getting the attention of these gamblers and on their personal decision to commit in resolving their problems. Even with the best guide, support, and methods, if the gambler does not want to commit and to start helping himself/herself, then all efforts would be nugatory.

Would a data showing the user statistics in graph and chart form, comparing ones gambling habit over a duration, help to curb gambling addiction or enforce strict control?

No, this may only help a gambler to see the image of himself from how he has been involved with gambling and how addicted or often he gambles, this may have nothing to do by influencing his decision on gambling addiction, some may even see such and express joy that they have been having nice and steady performance in gambling over time and not seeing such as a pattern telling them on how addicted they were in gambling, this may determine on how the gambler interpret such result, if he thinks there should be a need for an improvement or not.

Any kind of support/improvement on the quality of life of an addict is always welcomed. Even if it may be difficult for them to stop, if they see actual data that explains clearly the statistics of people suffering from addiction and their corresponding rates linked to suicide/depression, then it can help them snap back to reality and commit in helping themselves.
135  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Gambling : Next Generation Challenges on: April 11, 2024, 04:49:10 PM
In the world full of Ai and machine learning like this all industry can be the next generation od everything, including gambling because ai can know our behavior from the data that we give from our play.

Maybe the ai can decide when we win and how much we will spend on daily basis etc etc. in my opinion like the other industry gambling is Also evolving

I think more social interactions will be developed in gambling websites. It is prominent in most online gambling platform that it lacks that social aspect that physical casinos have. I mean obviously, it may be difficult and challenging to recreate such scenario where you get to experience both the socialization and interaction in an online setting. But most likely, this challenge has been the primary goal and motivation of these people to create the next generation of online gambling platforms.

With the pandemic, it had a huge impact on the growth of online services. It also proved that shifting to an online setting can be more convenient and accessible compared to some traditional services that were done physically.

Personally, I am very excited as to the innovations that would be created in the near future. Though gambling will still be gambling at its core, but having that social aspect can make things more bearable and exciting from both ends.
136  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stopping the curse of losing streak? on: April 11, 2024, 07:59:14 AM
In your case, how do you approach when you are on losing streak so badly on specific game. Does changing game works for you?

This is a good question as this also talks about the remedy of a person on how he/she handles a losing streak.

This is actually one of the things that people should talk about- what do you really do if you start experiencing a losing streak? Do you keep on continuing in order to recover your losses by betting again; or do you just accept the fact that you will never able to recover these losses?

Personally, once I experience a losing streak, I really tell myself to STOP and re-evaluate the situation. This is really difficult given that the initial reaction of a person is to gamble again in order to recover these losses. But this method does not really work as it may snowball into a bigger debt that you already have.

For my recommendation, I do think that having a designated gambling budget per week may suffice. For example, if you allot $100 per week as your gambling budget, then try your best to NOT go beyond it. Set a threshold of your profit in order to at least have a reasonable expectation on your games.
137  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Double your money and quite on: April 11, 2024, 05:48:43 AM
What is interesting here is that even if I win, I stop and do not deviate from the scope of the plan. In such situations, especially when winning, the gambler may become greedy, and this may change the course of the game   .

What do you think of this method?
Is there anyone among you who does it?
Give us one of your winning strategies, of course if that is possible.

I find your strategy worth noting given that you have the means of controlling your urge when your money runs out.

The problem with most gamblers is that they seem to have unrealistic goals whenever they try to gamble. They always think that they will win the jackpot, which is far from reality, given the odds are always against the players. If you have an allocated budget for the day in gambling, then stick within the budget.

It is recommended also that you set a threshold from both your winnings and losses. If you know when to stop after winning or losing, then you can prevent any excess expenditure and greed from your part.

Whoah eToro? Tagal ko hindi narinig itong platform na to- last time na narinig ko to was back in 2017-2018 nun rampant pa yung advertisements nila on different social media platforms (e.g. YouTube).

In the year 2010,my best friend introduce me to cryptocurrency and he advice me to invest in bitcoin. I felt bitcoin was another ponzi scheme created by scammers to scam innocent people. Today my friend is a multi Millionaire. If only I had listened to his advice,I would have become a millionaire by now.

Well we've all been there- we once doubted the wonders of BTC as we relied completely on news and hearsay from people.

I know what you are feeling; that realization when you could have been a millionaire by now if you just had listen to yourself in the past. But do not worry, it is definitely okay to ponder about the past but let it be a lesson that would inspire you to make rational decisions from now on.

I do think that majority of the people in this forum has heard BTC in the past and only a few were able to maximize on the opportunity of investing and HODLing at the same time. It sucks but at least you know what you are dealing right now since you have the information.

Make it as your inspiration OP so that 10-15 years from now, you could sell and at least take advantage of the forks that will happen.
140  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lottery Fever. What are your range of thoughts in response to Lucky Winners? on: April 10, 2024, 01:38:44 PM
If you are planning on doing the lottery, then expect nothing at all. The chances of you hitting the jackpot are astronomically low that you are better than experiencing all sorts of things than to win the lottery.

If you have spare cash specifically allocated for the lottery, then feel free to do so since the price of tickets are relatively low. But expect nothing when you try the lottery- just do it for the sake of that hope of winning and nothing more than that.

My father has been consistently buying lottery tickets and there was a time that he won 5/6 numbers. He was able to bag at least $5,000 from that but he was never able to repeat this experience.
