I´m betting 100$ bucks that you will never see a winkli COIN ETF listed on nasdaq. Barrys pink sheets penny stocks, with not a single trade so far, was the maximum BTC can reach in the world of real money. Have fun on BTC-E and China in the meanwhile.  Smiley

That's a bad bet. Since you said "never", if someone takes the bet the only possible outcome is no one wins or you losing. You should put a deadline, like you will not see the winki ETF in the next 2 years or whatever that way you actually give yourself a possibility of winning.

NLC is ultra trolling with porno pics. She is exploding like a boss at the end of game. She has nothing left and is admitting defeat. It was a long battle, but we won. BTC FTW!

Sigh.  Is it so hard to believe that someone may be just telling the plain boring truth, for a change?
[snip]
If you have seen enough of my posts, you should know that I *do* try to do serious data analysis, and to understand bitcoin deeper than Antonopoulos-level.  I think I have learned a few things about bitcoin that bitcoiners do not seem to be aware of, or try hard to ignore, or deny because they desperately need them to be false.  I think that this sort of thing is quite appropriate for a computer scientist to "waste" his time on.
[snip]

<image>
And so on.  I don't know whether those pokings will yield something that many people will care to know, but, as some famous scientist said, "research is what I am doing when I don't know what I am doing"...
I have seen many of your posts and they are on topic and not gibberish troll speak however they are usually biased towards a negative view of bitcoin. Then you claim to not own any and that you don't trade, yet you spend most of your time in the speculative thread, not the development or tech sections making me seriously doubt the technical knowledge you claim to have. Being completely honest, you appear to have a more research approach like a columnist or reporter would have.

At the end of it I still don't get it. I'm looking for the why. Are you writing book? I can't figure out why you would put so much effort into something but then not take any part in it.

Nobody believes you have a class.
The important thing is not to have a class, but to have class.  Wink

Stolfi, have you bought any bitcoin yet?
I always find your signature very hard to believe with how much time you spend on here and /r/bitcoin.
It's okay to admit you are one of us  Wink

This is probably the only way to invest there clients 401k and IRA retirement money in bitcoin.  I cant just withdraw money out ok my IRA and buy bitcoin.  But i can choose where my money is invested without penalty.  And that way is pre tax.

Yup, exactly this. Using retirement funds to buy bitcoin, you're only option right now is the BIT.

A sign of things to come. That's what those giant green candles on btc-e yesterday were, a sign. Load up on BTC while you still can before we start pricing everything in satoshis!  Grin

Is tarmi a 14 year old kid??
Or does he have Tourettes?
Or does he just have no vocabulary?
His constant swearing makes him look like a complete idiot.

The fall after today's bizarre btc-e pump seems too obvious. Does that mean we'll be going back up?

Just curios what the heck are you going to use a crypto coin for at work?  I'm racking my brain and cant really think of a big use for them.  I would guess they would rather have a reward in fiat then a coin only used in office.

We are using it for work incentives.   Lunch / coffee ect..  trade your coins in for something extra.   Just a bonus.  Alot of people at the office have been talking about bitcoin lately and i told them we could setup our own coin.

That could be a fun project, but you could do the same thing with an excel spreadsheet or printed out coupons.
Anyways, what part of generating the genesis block are you having trouble with? What have you done so far? Where do you get stuck?

Stop over thinking it, just because it wasn't smart doesn't mean some sinister purpose. It could just have been that... not smart.

So you're saying occam's razor?
1255  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 28, 2015, 02:32:11 AM

I'm guessing here but isn't BTC-e the last place you can buy mostly anonymously?

Certainly the only proper exchange. Kraken doesn't ask for much KYC but that's only for very low volumes.

That sure was an expensive way to get coins, who has such a great need to remain anonymous that they would pay a premium like that?

Let's say anonymity was the reason for the purchase through BTC-e, why purchase so much at market rate? Why such the rush? They could have remained anon and bought slower and placing multiple bids without jacking the price up over $260.

The whole thing is bizarre.

I know this ETF isn't perfect and it's quite remarkable things have moved this far, but if these delays persist, it's a really less-than-perfect way to trade BTC.

But it's not an ETF...   Huh

Didn't you just post this same thing over in Dev & Tech as well? You should delete or lock one. Mods don't take too kindly to repeat threads over multiple boards. Also you should post more specifics about what issues with the genesis block you are having.
1258  Other / Off-topic / Re: How do you measure traffic on your website? on: April 28, 2015, 02:20:41 AM
What host do you use? Do you have AWstats in your cpanel? I prefer to count unique visitors over page views.
1259  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTCe action today on: April 28, 2015, 01:23:26 AM
If it were a whale or small group I still can't believe that someone had that much fiat on btc-e. I saw the price go up over $260 and thought there was some news that I missed, just turned out to be btc-e craziness. Was it the magical bullwhale that buys are large amount at market price to pump the price? Seems really odd though, if it were insider knowledge they would have been more stealthy to get more BTC at a lower price.

it looked more like people trying to get their fiat out of btce. lets hope btce doesnt end as http://www.libertyreserve.com/index.html

Yea it does, why else pay so much over spot price?
Hope that's not the case, I've always been a fan of BTC-e Sad
