Oil price rising again in the wake of this disgusting news from this lunatic imbecile aimed at another lunatic imbecile.
"Everyone else can pay" is their motto it seems to me.

Biden to ban US imports of Russian oil in bid to punish Putin
https://www.ft.com/content/2e0b1d84-e595-4c5a-be4e-928417b9c7cc

This will not make a dent of difference to Russia or Putin btw, in fact they will just get even more money as the oil price rises.
They have China. A far bigger growing market than Europe and the US combined whilst we will struggle to get fuel elsewhere at greater cost.

Utter lunacy.

I just gave my last merits to the dude for his best friend post otherwise I'd have given you one for this - IOU.
These sanctions are only going result in suffering for the innocent masses who can't do shit about any war, anywhere.

Don't they have connections to China/Kazakhstan, as long as blocks can get through China/Kazakhstan BTC should be fine. It only takes one synced node to share the blocks with the rest.

Dipsh!t..You forgot Mongolia, Finland, North Korea, Georgia, Letonia, Estonia, Azerbaijan, Norway and Ukraine.

Where exactly is Letonia on the map?

 OPsec alert:
Letonia occupies the same spacetime as Latvia but in Romania or Spanish... maybe Turkish.

BREAKING: Visa and MasterCard are reportedly shutting down their services in Russia.

Damn.

Wonder what Amex is up to.

Same as Visa and Mastercard but with higher merchant fees.
On a more serious note, they are also complying with sanctions.

From France24.com:

While American Express said its business in Russia was "small," it stressed that "since the beginning of this crisis, we have been complying with US and international sanctions."

Amex CEO Stephen Squeri said that "has resulted in us halting relationships with impacted bank partners in Russia, and we will continue to comply with all relevant laws as the situation evolves."

Do not follow, DYOR

Thx for tweets like this …
Great example of why not to follow people with only buying mentality.

In fairness to all the followers, if you pan out on the bitcoin chart, following has always worked out in Bitcoinlandia.  Wait for it.

I imagine the use of TOR can create some of this number.  But still cool.

It's not like only Russia has oligarchs.

I commented on a hillary clinton medium article on democracy once that "it looks like this country is run by oligarchs to the rest of us" and John Mcain's brother liked it which made my day.

Ummh... as if the McCains weren't oligarchs themselves? But nice anyway I guess.

Not in my mind, John Mcain served and was a prisoner of war.

Oligarchs don't serve, they are all chickenhawks.

Yeah, his father and his father's father served in the US military but John McCain's second wife was worth ~$200 million - "fuck you" money for sure but not oligarch money.

Heyyyy.... Guys..... How is everyone doing tonight? Good? Good.

Ima just leave this here...

The Russian army is firing from all sides upon Zaporizhzhia NPP, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. Fire has already broke out. If it blows up, it will be 10 times larger than Chernobyl.

Do you guys think the extermination of life on earth will affect the Bitcoin price? Proudhon?

Anyway, if Im going out, Im going out on 100 tabs of acid. Gotta arrive at the pearly gates tripping my balls off.

Calm down everyone.  Chernobyl blew up from within because nearly  e v e r y   s i n g l e  safety system was defeated manually by human hands in order to perform a poorly designed test and the fuel was encased in carbon (as a moderator).  It blew up due to a runaway fission process and and the extreme energy and heat created.  It continued to burn because... that's what carbon does.

The reactors at Zaporizhzhia are pressurized light water reactors (meaning they use water as a moderator).  Also, each of the 6 reactors is encased in structure built from over 2 meters of steel reinforced concrete which can withstand a direct hit from a 747.  The safety systems are much more robust than those of Chernobyl.

It would be good if some stray bullets don't kill the guys trained to operate the reactor though.  Personally, I'm more worried about the safety of the good people of Ukraine from Putin's onslaught.

Yes, and they are probably targeting the generators in order to shut down the grid.

Hopefully they don't shut down the grid.  Those stations still need power to maintain cooling on the fuel for quite a few days - remember Fukushima; they lost the grid and all but one unit's back up diesel generators.  That turned ugly really fast.

what do we think about 50k by end of week. Seems likely to me.

Firstly, we've gotta make it to the end of the week then we'll see about bitcoin price.

Excellent point.

US bases in Romania and Poland must remove rocket launchers installed last year or will be bombed by Russia!

It's so strange how controlled fission could save humanity from an early extinction but uncontrolled fission could be the cause of its even earlier demise.  I don't possess the influence or the power to have any nuclear weapons removed from anywhere.  The best I can do is to pray we choose wisely.

Bottom line any discussion about surviving first attack is retarded, has been since the 60s, and that's by design for MAD

To be clear, we're absolutely fucked if this thing goes nuclear.

I was just trying to be technically correct, as to my understanding of countermeasures.

 I think you qualify - http://www.theoppidum.com/

Who would want to live never going out under the night sky again?
Give me the quick flash of light thank you.

 TL;DR
It's an old clip of Trump (2018) slamming NATO at a summit - more specifically Germany wrt NATO contributions and their cozy relationship/dependence on Russia for energy.

This friendly Englishman chap makes excellent travel vids, and he speaks fluent Russian.
Here's his latest, traveling across Ukraine, as he chats with the locals, the day before invasion.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2rBUvWKSZw&t

Good video!  At about 15 minutes he talks to an elderly woman who says

As we say in Ukraine:
When the owners fight, the slaves suffer

Sad but true.

Well, time to start activating the nuclear war plan. Oi. Between "Rat packs in the Capitol", Autarky government, and of course global pandemic I'm running low on new scenarios.

Alien invasion anyone?

For all of us to consider none of us are getting out of this world 🌍 alive. We all exit via death.

So rather then fight and hurt why not party 🎉 and love.

An idea to consider.

We haven't been able to party for over two years.  Clubs have just reopened @25% of cap but you can't be in a group of more than 10 (unless from the same household) and you still have to war wear a mask when eating or drinking also, you cannot stand with a drink.  There is no dancing, no karaoke, no pool allowed and you must remain seated except for certain specific activities ie getting to your table, using the restroom or paying.  End of the world is nigh and we aren't allowed to party like it's 1999.

edit: Freudian slip

https://thehill.com/policy/international/595728-ukrainian-ambassador-says-russian-platoon-surrendered-to-ukrainian

Ukrainian Ambassador to the U.S. Oksana Markarova said Thursday that a platoon of Russian soldiers surrendered to the Ukrainian military, saying they "didn't know that they were brought to Ukraine to kill Ukrainians."

They thought they'd be handing out ice creams?

No, no!! The ice cream is reserved for those taking the covid vaccines (not only in Russia but many other places).  Turns out Putin might not only lie to us but also to his own people.  Surprise, surprise.

excerpt

•Meanwhile frantic Russian mothers are complaining in their droves that their sons were duped into the war
•The Committee of Soldiers' Mothers says young men were told they were going to the border for drills
•Once they arrived, their contracts were changed to say they were there to fight and now none can be reached

Ukrainian Ambassador to the U.S. Oksana Markarova said Thursday that a platoon of Russian soldiers surrendered to the Ukrainian military, saying they "didn't know that they were brought to Ukraine to kill Ukrainians."

At a press briefing, Markarova said, "Just before I came here, we got information from our chief commander that one of the platoons of the 74th motorized brigade from Kemerovo Oblast surrendered."

"They didn't know that they were brought to Ukraine to kill Ukrainians. They thought they were doing something else there," she added.

Message from my energy supplier:

My combined gas and electricity bill will rise 45% from April 1st.

 Shocked

Thinking about this some more, my energy supplier could have just msged me and said
"Sorry but your pounds are now worth 45% less."

 Roll Eyes

Or they could have said, "Thank you for your monetary support of the sanctions against Russia."
