1381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Silkcoin is going to steal people's money. on: June 28, 2014, 08:15:59 AM

first: I am not owning any Silkcoin and I am not part of it.
but i can understand why trolls are threatened and they maybe should also open their eyes.

imagine you put a lot of effort and money in creating a coin. Even if this is only a pump and dump coin, it would be also not a scam but legal and its still a lot of effort.
But imagine this coin is really your life. You hired a designer, that already made a few good logos, also if the coins themselves were not the burner, but you liked the design.

So you created that coin and try to make it shine and want to protect it.
Now comes a troll and tries to drag it down. What would you do?
1382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bytecoin [BCN] vs MONERO [XMR] who will be the winner in the Cryptonote War on: June 27, 2014, 03:53:34 PM
My researches show, that BCN didn't have even a website before late 2013.
http://web.archive.org/web/20131113093900/http://bytecoin.org/

Also the Git repository was not there before:
https://github.com/amjuarez/bytecoin/commits/master?page=2

So this is very suspicious and should not be supported AT ALL.
Even IF they started 2012 they didn't let ANYONE participate, because they didn't go public.

But I doubt, that the coin existed so early. I think (as I already said https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=622738.msg7425175#msg7425175), that they probably even faked the blockchain timing easily like this:
- they rented a bunch of computers
- set the time to 2012
- created a time changing script or something similar on all of their computers, so that the time passes faster
- started the coin in november 2013 secretly and mined it secretly for a few months
- then they announced the coin in february(?)

People are screaming about 1% premine which I can't really understand, because the programmers should have their coin, because otherwise they maybe won't support it enought. I am even fine with 5%. NEM takes 25%. It is still OK.
But 80% is just an impudence. And I can cry about the people supporting it to a market-cap of 10 million...

I was mining bytecoin and monero both in march. I just didn't know of the premine and didn't pay attention about "2012" at that time and was unsure, what to do.
I had a small computer and a big computer. The big one had about 4 times the hashrate of the small one.
As monero was said to be the second one I was mining bytecoin with the big one and monero with the small one.
I was mining 200000 BCN and about 65 XMR (I think it was about 2 weeks or something).
200000 * 0.00000010 = 0.02 BTC
65 * 0.004 = 0.26 BTC
(Prices at time of writing)

keep in mind, that:
- monero has about half of the market cap now (after the crash, before it was also about double)
- i used the 4 times faster cpu for BCN!

If BCN would have been "fair" with their launch, there would have been no monero, and I would have mined BCN alone and the marketcap would even be higher due to no FUD and so on.
So I probably lost AT LEAST 1 BTC (4*0.26 BTC - 0.02BTC) in that short time because of not being able to participate and mine the right shit. Thank you BCN.
1383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Free coins - IPOs on: June 27, 2014, 02:03:12 PM

As the title says - free coins and IPOs , IPOs are not free. Also fundraiser might be a hint

I would really like to know, what they make better than bitshares.

Im not quite sure but they seem to be setting up a company much like kickstarter but will issue new coins (assets) for new projects

as bitshares :-)

... (I have one that is my favourite but... Wink) ...

whats the sence to keep favorites secret? They can only rise in price, if others also participate.
Or are you still saving to buy more? ;-)

1389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What coin do you recommend? on: June 26, 2014, 09:49:49 PM
Nem obviously.

Open alpha coming on the 25th and as a closed alpha tester I can sefely say it's working like a charm.
It's still possible to buy a NEM stake on the NXT AE pretty cheap.

Check https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=654845.0 Smiley

Pretty cheap???!!!!  $1800 doesn't sound like a deal to me.

we are talking of a 4000th of ALL coins...

The blockchain is proof.

as explained its not...
its like a screenhot that can be photoshoped

Really, make a coin yourself, come back to me, I'll check the code. Then you try and fake the blockchain. You're just making up lies now my friend..

Please do the above, make a coin yourself, and try to fake the blockchain, lordoliver. I know you're not going to bother, since it's impossible....But it'd be funny to see you try.

I don't want to do that. Because it costs a lot of effort. so why should i do it?
But you still didn't explain, why it is not possible.

just take maybe 2 or 3 Months and rent a bunch of Computers. You set the times of all computers 1 1/2 years earlier and start a changing algorithm that smoothy fakes longer time frames. voilą...

Why can't you change the system time while the demon is running? Isn't the demon using it? And even if not a good programmer can surely change that in his version...

Stop trying to make up bullshit excuses. The blockchain doesn't lie and according to the blockchain, Bytecoin was started in 2012 and over 80% of all Bytecoins were mined by a few individuals. Bytecoin's code was also severely messed up aka Crappy, see github for reference. There's no argueing with that. The end.

cmon. you can easily fake a blockchain if you can start it yourself.

1395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero or Bytecoin? on: June 20, 2014, 09:30:48 PM
This thread isnt even worth being made.

Bytecoin was mined 80% before it was made public, it's code was also a HUGE mess. According to Bytecoin's blockchain, the first block was mined in 2012, it's now 2014 and over 80% of it's entire coin supply has been mined by a few people.

Monero never had a instamine/premine like Bytecoin, and has the most optimized code of any cryptonote coin

There's no point in argueing simply because you can look at the Bytecoin blockchain for yourself, and see that the first blocks were mined in 2012, and that almost 90% of it's supply is already mined and in the hands of a few individuals.

you can surely fake the dates somehow, if they really stand in the blockchain. I honestly doubt, that this can be hidden for 1 1/2 years. Never...
And all the webpages didn't exist before end of 2013. Github was made end 2013. EVERYTHING. The wiki times can easily be faked as well as everything else. They were hiding the coin as long as possible. No exchange, usw. And now, as they are afraid, that Monero would steal their show, they are hurrying... suddenly they go public as much as they can...
seems like they are afraid that their money turns out to be playmoney...
1396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero or Bytecoin? on: June 20, 2014, 06:55:54 PM
No more FUD--Let's get the facts straight in large red lettering too

First you all need to read: http://bytecoiner.org/about.php
This is a BCN community website that has all of the information you need to know in one place.  This info used to be scattered everywhere, but now it is nicely consolidated on this website--this is not fabricated.

BCN was not premined.  It was released on July 4, 2012.  Opponents argue that the release wasn't "public enough", and thus conclude the coin was "premined".  Better call Bitcoin premined too, then!  The developers of BCN actually worked with CryptoNote on the CryptoNight algorithm and BCN formed from there.  Read the information from that link and see for yourself.

Monero is basically the taco shop version of BCN, IMO.  The logo and name give the impression of a dollar store and the developers don't seem as passionate as the original creators of the tech (and rightfully so).  The Monero devs are very quick to protect what is in their best financial interests, and that is obvious from their snarky comments scattered on reddit and this forum.  Users really need to make their own decision, and the market will reflect that.  Bytecoin has a much more favorable risk to reward ratio at the moment, and it is the original and most secure anonymous coin out there at the moment.  All the Shibes who blindly moved to DarkCoin will eventually stampede over themselves to the CryptoNote camp in the last two quarters of 2014.  If you are using an anonymous coin for its actual anonymous properties (and not just following hype or trying to make money) there is not a huge incentive for you to care that a lot of the coin has been mined already.  After all, bitcoin is over 60% mined!  If anything I would much rather support a coin like duckNote over Monero, because the name is hilarious rather than boring.  Marketability is not all about the specific name, but has to do with the atmosphere surrounding the coin and the coin's feel/emotional response.  Monero is no bueno.

BCN FTW

Hope that helps, GL.

please tell me on which website this so called news of 2012 were posted. it was NOT on bytecoin.org, because there was no page!
1397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero or Bytecoin? on: June 20, 2014, 06:19:26 PM
All these chains are forks of Bytecoin (BCN) (not to mix up with the unfortunate Bitcoin clone also called Bytecoin (BTE). They are written from ground up and stand outside the many Bitcoin based clones by also employing CryptoNote technology, using "Ring Signatures" to anonymize transactions. The POW mining algorythm called "CryptoNight" is also unique and made GPU and ASIC resistant to mine exclusively on CPUs.
https://cryptonote.org/

Monero (MRO)
= Fair launch, no pre or instamine, dedicated dev group of 3-4 core devs still have to come up with substantial improvements over Bytecoin code base, most anonymous crypto solution out there (besides the hyped out Litecoin fork known as DRK which is basically CoinJoin and relies on trust of a few "coin mixers" called Master Nodes), flatter emission schedule then Bytecoin (3 years for the first 50% of QCN will be created), 1 min block time
http://www.monero.cc/

Bytecoin (BCN)    = Secret launch on deep web (devs stated that Bytecoin was launched 2 years ago) with corresponding premine of 82% of all Bytecoins that will ever be, possibly linked to the mysterious CICADA group (no joke;), first implementation of the cryptonote technology, possibly deliberately slow miner binaries after launch to limit solo miner's success thus further increasing, 2 min block time
https://bytecoin.org/old/index.html (worth a visit Wink
https://bytecoin.org/

Quazarcoin (QCN) = clone of the MRO code, im not sure if the devs can come up with decent stuff or they will keep forking MRO, irregularities during and before launch (someone supposedly had discovered the devs github repository and began mining before even the dev had started QCn thus increasing difficulty by a large resulting in premine, etc.), emission schedule quite flat (6 years for the first 50% of QCN to be created), 2 min block time

Fantomcoin (FCN)
= seems like another fork but at least they are contributing with novelty stuff like merge mining, so if QCN went up FCN will go up for sure. It's on my radar,  emission schedule quite flat (6 years for the first 50% of QCN to be created), 1 min block time.

Boolberry (BBR) = formerly known as Honnypenny

Make your own decisions.

@ giveBTCpls: I took the liberty to edit your list with what I can contribute. Cheers
I don't even think, that BCN started before 2014. The website looked like that in november 2013:
http://web.archive.org/web/20131113093900/http://bytecoin.org/

and suddenly in February they claim an announcement of 2012:
http://web.archive.org/web/20140225123108/http://bytecoin.org

simply impudence! Do they think, we are stupid? And even if there was another url before. Where is it?
1398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ripple Block explorer on: June 20, 2014, 11:27:35 AM
Hi guys,
I am wondering if there is a block explorer for ripple.
I thought they made it open source, so normally this should be possible?
1399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CFC]Coffeecoin | Relaunch this Friday! on: June 20, 2014, 09:46:59 AM
Hi everyone !

Would the CFC community allow me to make my Berlin-based start-up to accept Coffeecoin ?
I mean, Berlin loves crypto and i think it would be so great for the exposure of the coin!

We produce passive DJ mixers, easy to use for everyone. I know that the purpose of CFC is Coffee, but maybe it's worth it, even if the domain is tech products ?

Hey Guy, of course you can buy everything with Coffee.
You can just do it and not even ask ;-)
