Eth classic now monero classic. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1600638

What next usd classic?  Huh

Ignore these idiots. Ethereum exists for a reason. Because the neo-ethereum devs betrayed their principles for the sake of convenience. No such analogue exists for monero.
1462  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 29, 2016, 01:35:49 PM
So I just want to say something.

This project represents a principle that is so much higher, so very much greater, than "oh a criminal got to keep his coins over there". Have you forgotten the arguments that made you interested in ETH in the first place? This fork stands for those principles! It is the torch bearer for the idiological protocols, the ultimate source from which consensus demanding network protocols emerge, that truely represent the character and nature and meaning of the ethereum project. You guys have moral high ground in every imaginable way. Infinitely higher.

Go forth and bear witness.
1463  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 29, 2016, 06:55:17 AM
Hi Bitpop! Long time!

Guys you need a marketing re-brand. I cringe every time I hear the phrase "Eithereum classic". You guys arent "Ethereum classic". You are just Ethereum. They are the ones who hard forked. NOT YOU. Please stop calling yourself Ethereum classic and instead refer to this project as just Ethereum.

There is a problem with this you say? How will people know which Ethereum you are talking about. Simple. The guys on the fork should hence forth be referred to as "Neo-Ethereum".

Please. Spread the word. The guys who are actually Ethereum, real Ethereum, shouldn't be referring to themselves as "Ethereum classic". Do not let your opposition control language especially when you guys have the intellectual and moral high ground.

That's a great idea. But its gonna take hell of an effort. ETC needs to have some solid strong DAPPs and the rest will be history. I hope ETC will be able to reach the same level as of ETH. I know there are people who wants ETC to overtake ETH but, we need to consider the reality. And I don't see much hope for now. The devs have to work and release a solid DAPP. I understand its easy to post anything on the thread, but I simply like your post! With supporters like you, ETC may be the next best thing in the future  Smiley

I just can't stand hypocrites.

or am i just looking at this thing on a too short time-frame.

This.  And look forwards as well as backwards.

As has been quoted here a lot recently, in 2011 BTC had its first break out and many of the early adopters cashed out "we'll never see prices as high as $32" they said, especially after it went back down to $5.

The reason Risto esp mentions this a lot is because the circumstances for XMR are both similar and better than those in 2011; that's why most of the old lags here are not selling.

Check out the registration date on my profile. I watched it all. Sitting patiently. Smiley

WoW!!  I imagine you have some wallets that bring tears to the eye.

And bravo on still being here and still helping people.

Na. I was an idiot. I watched and learned. Not making those mistakes again.

Is there a way to get rid of these animals?
We enjoyed two years of interesting, informative discourse when the coin was small.
A little success brings an inundation of blithering idiots who scream "pump and dump!" with Doritos crumbs clinging to their lips.

Monero "supporters" have been doing it to them for years. Roll Eyes We just getting a little bit of comeuppance. Enjoy it. It's a good sign.
1468  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 29, 2016, 06:03:22 AM
I woke up and it's still at a 0.015 level  Shocked Was sure a dump would follow.  Now i'm wondering if i should start buying back moneros even the levels are this high.

Is this just a market frenzy or is there something behind that really back this level to be the "new normal"?

Rpietila/Wise Ones do you still concider 0.01 level to be a realistic dump level? Or is the dump that low anymore possible. Monero has broken pretty much every scenario that i know or am i just looking at this thing on a too short time-frame.

The dump already happened. ~0.013 was the low. Will it dump again who can know. But if you were looking for a dump it came and went.

Here comes the falling knife

There it is huh. Well lets see how high the low is Smiley

Not that low... had some bids in the low 12s....ah well.
I imagine some of the larger holders just increased their holdings significantly as the trollbox went into OMGdump-a-drive

And it brought on the 100k btc 24h volume.  wow

haha sick
1470  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 29, 2016, 03:40:35 AM
They dumped all the way down to 0.013. Who would do that? And why? They could have sold for a much better price if they didnt do a massive market order dump. Huh

I thought I was the only one who thought so.
ETC really need to take back the "ethereum" name... let eth foundation rebrand.

but unfortunately, this is kinda already established, so it won't be easy.

Just gotta start saying it right. Be the agent of change. If a few people start doing it. And a few more follow. I bet it will catch like wild fire. Grin

bullshit volume
bullshit polo insider whalebot trading as usual with outside btc coming in to play
same ol' story in crypto that will crate a shitload more bagholders
darkmarket blahblahblah just good 'hype' news for the whales to play off
congrats if you sold on this ride, i had some old xmr sitting around since like 330k so was nice to offload it FINALLY.  don't get caught holding the bag on this one cuz it will be heavy when these whales drop it hard.
otherwise this will dump (maybe not to previous levels) but it will (as they all do) given this manipulation crap

You had 330,000 monero just "sitting around" that you "finally got to offload". Roll Eyes

I'm the sultan of Venus.

Ok, well if you want to move funds to cold storage without using simplewallet, you can use moneroaddress.org (or this: https://github.com/moneromooo-monero/monero-wallet-generator)

Generate the address on an offline computer and save the seed and private keys (the seed is all you need to restore the wallet, but might as well save it all).

Use the viewkey to check that your funds have arrived at cold storage address using this:
http://xmr.llcoins.net/checktx.html

Yep. That is exactly what I have done - and followed all this no problem.  It needs no CLI, all makes sense and I don't need simple wallet.

It was recovery that stumped me.  Getting the test XMR funds back out - then it gets tough, you do need to use the terminal command line and have simple wallet to recover.   Even MyMonero recovery requires SW to work.  But I will spend another day with my G/f watching me on the computer with a frown on.  It will cost me flowers and chocolates - at least Wink

Just wanted to verify about the recovery from a paper wallet. You need to use the terminal command line and have simple wallet to recover?

Now I'm wondering if I should just move the coins from poloniex to mymonero.com for now.

I would say that is certainly an improvement. But why not just:

Download simplewallet. Disconnect from the internet. Run simplewallet. Write down your mnemonic seed. Save your address in a text file on desktop. Restart computer. Reconnect to internet. Send to the address you saved on desktop.

That's pretty simple right? I think its a better halfmeasure for good security without going crazy over board than mymonero and still pretty easy.

I said this before and I'll say it again. Just pm me. I'm here to help.

XMR:ETH parity soon?

One Ether down, one to go.

Ethereum down. Neo-Ethereum next.

Thank you for the kind words. Smiley
1478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: August 28, 2016, 07:13:18 PM
I am not touching XMR due to trolls, wile developers and lack of gui wallet. Also, its backed up by known scammers, not touching anything scammers are involved in.
Dont care for darkmarkets, dont care for current market cap, really dont.

Its easier to integrate DASH to other platforms, its fast, private, great developers, and great improvements. DASH value was suppresed due to Craptsy, but now reaching true evaluation. I love that DASH is accepted in wide range of exchanges, and hope it can move away from poloniex and be more widely distributed.

If anything happened to poloniex, sure DASH would take a hit, but would survive and the markets would be quickly redistributed as poloniex holds only 50-60% of trades, but what would happen to XMR if poloniex took a hit with 97% trade there?

Sorry about the trolls. Really I am. But we don't have any control over people like icebreaker. He does what he wants.

The lack of a gui wallet is for a good reason. It's just not as important as some of the fundemental stuff. Like the lmdb database, ZeroMQ and libraryizing. Its easy to judge monero vs dash in this regard but its an apples to oranges comparison. You guys cloned bitcoin while our dev team started (almost) from scratch. And what they did inherrit was so broken it would probably almost been better to start from scratch. You inherrited all of the strengths of bitcoin, its easy to slap a gui on-top of that. We had more pressing matters to attend to than a gui.

And yes cloning bitcoin is a strength of dash, but so is the fact that monero is brand new code base. They are different strengths that are advantageous in different ways.

Yes all our volume is on polo. But thats because very few exchanges adopted monero again because its not a clone of bitcoin. All the clones are just plug and play with the systems these exchanges already have. They have standardized RPC interfaces. It took custom work and individual technical skill to implement monero on the exchanges it was implemented on. But again, you shouldnt analyze this weakness in a vacuum, that weakness is a product of something more fundamental that is also an advantage in its own ways.

I don't have a mac but I hear the terminal is similar enough to linux (based on linux). I would be happy to help walk you through it and answer any questions. Pm me.
