I am running the stock BIOS on my cards, at least for now. I figured it would be best first to get as many cards running as possible in stock form before I go monkeying with the cards' BIOS. That way, it is easier to track down the source of any problems that may crop up. Once I get everything running, I may modifying the memory timing, but that's the extent of my planned modding.

I am now experiencing the 300/300 problem with gpu0, regardless of how I set up my rig or which PCIe slot I use.
To be clear, I didn't type all of this up because I expect someone to help me. To the contrary, this is a hobby to me, and I will work through it. However, it seems like the 300/300 problem has reared its ugly head multiple times without a decisive resolution of the underlying cause. I'm just hoping that the info I provided will help tytanick diagnose the problem.
Ok, so changing to gen1 still didnt fixed the problem? Personally on asrock i see this from time to time but reboot fixes it. Anyway if you have this problem ober and over then may i ask you to write me a email to admin@simplemining.net It will be easy to debug something that doest work all the time rather tan sometimes Can you also put in core clock value 5 mem 0 and tell me if that will help? If you put such values then it will be used old script which sets only dpm state and not specific clocjs. Tell me if it will fix 300 mhz problem Anyway after that may i please to contact me? Its also my hobby to fix things |

i swithed my several rx series rig to smOS and do not have any issues.
But i tried to switch my R9 290x rig to smOS. Boot the R series image to usb and tried it (i booted and downloaded 3 times)
I have that screen when everytime i start the rig.

Yes i wil do that, today i count not finish this. Anyway kernel version you can check by hovering over Rig version on dashboard. I will also make it in few days on whcih amd driver you are. Anyway i just released this amd driver as default image on main page. All guys you have old amd driver do once you will click kernel upgrade ... reboot ... amd upgrade .... reboot .. you will have all up to date. But yes, i will make that clear for everyone on which version you are. Those are beta tests |

Try overclocking memory, it could propably take more than previous amd driver Powerstage doesnt make hashing speed faster, it only makes usage less voltage and it could in some point make it unstalbe. For example you can use powerstage 0 with 1200 MH in core |

In my observation, i can overclock memory a bit more than previous driver, so you can guys check this as well.

the 300/300 seems to occur if it is clocked a bit off. Try to change clocks or see if with higher or lower dpm it will gone. I will see if I can make it show by moving core higher The 300/300 is meaby becasue it it experimental powerstage. Right now if we have for example 0: 300Mhz 1: 466Mhz 2: 751Mhz 3: 1019Mhz 4: 1074Mhz 5: 1126Mhz 6: 1150Mhz 7: 1230Mhz And we will set 4 DPM stage to for example 1150, then the table will look like: 0: 300Mhz 1: 466Mhz 2: 751Mhz 3: 1019Mhz 4: 1150Mhz <--- this had higher MHz than 5 DPM
5: 1126Mhz6: 1150Mhz 7: 1230Mhz I think that kernel dont like this experimenting situations  Wolf0 confirmed me that kernel doesnt like this. Anyway this is possible reason, and accually it could be something else. I wan to test it by doing some more scripting so if we want 4 dpm level to be 1150 MHZ then next DPMs stage should have bigger clocks, and lower dpms should have lower clocks. This is what i want to try in my scripts. 0: 300Mhz 1: 466Mhz 2: 751Mhz 3: 1019Mhz 4: 1150Mhz <-- we are using this DPM and setting 1150 clocks to it 5: 1160Mhz <-- this needs to be bigger 6: 1170Mhz <-- this needs to be bigger 7: 1230Mhz <-- this needs to be bigger BUT ITS "MEABY" |

Phil could you boost the core and fans a bit to see if the new drivers like a higher core then 999?
Okay I will change the top one which has the up grades I will change the next two which don't have the upgrades You were right the higher core of 1020 does do better with new amd drivers If you want more MH then increase core to 1150. Its limiting you right now |

UPDATE: Anyone ready for AMD new driver BETA TEST ? possible ~3% mining speed increase NOTE: !!! :As it is beta test, keep in mind that you need to be near your rig, make upgrade and pray thet it will succeed. There is always a change with bigger updates that something will go wrong and rig wont boot or wont start mining. Upgrade only one rig at a time to see if its working ! In that case you would need to reflash your drive with old stable version. Also in my case i had 4.11 beta kernel, please tell me if with other it will also work (it propably will) All my rigs upgraded without any problem Also ignore warnings "Possible missing firmware" Please write down old hash speed and wattage and after upgrade, new speeds and wattage to make a compare Post your results here.

Will this work, with r9 390? or only with rx models? For 380 you should use other image, see here: https://simplemining.net/It might work but propably you will have problems. Try it and see for your self. |

Ok, so now, everything is booting fine.
But there seems to be, some lan driver problems.
In the console while its loading, i can see this info :

This is the board that im using, gigabyte ga-970a-ud3p.

I'm using your OS, its working pretty nice... so good job to you.
Anyway i'm having some issues with 1 of my cards constantly getting "GPU1 hangs OpenCL error" on Claymore ETH miner.
I'm mining with 2 RX 480 Sapphire cards on that machine.
I made swapfile 16GB just to be sure its not RAM issue.
So its running for random amount of time (can run for 5+ hours without problem, or can fail after 10 minutes - totally irregular).
I used the same 2 cards on other machine under windows and they were running for days without failure on Claymore 8.0 version.
If you or anyone else can give the view about performance and stability of AMD driver for Rx 480 under Linux, because i know that under windows they are running super nice.

Its not ram, propably 4GB DDR3 is enough for 2 GPUs, meaby even 2 GB  Linux is different and you should use little different clocks. Anyway if this problem occurs like 1 per day then i dont see problem, just add those options to claymore: -wd 1 -r 1 This will autoreboot rig if at least 1 gpu will fail Anyway Hanging gpus in totally normal in mining world, if its too often then you could lower clocks or make higher PowerStage level from default 5 to 6 or even 7 , depends how much you OC. It will consule more watts but it will be more stable. |

And same thing...
It does boot the first time.
But for some reason it cant connect to simplemining.com.
And whenever i reboot, i see this info:

Is it possible to burn your image in macOS?
Hi, i guess that would be hard. As i have shitty windows on my Laptop and most of people also have it i am doing images under program for windows. Try to find any windows and just burn under it, or meaby you could install it in virtualbox under mac ? Anyway when you will do this one time, thne you can reclone this usb under mac. I just dont have time to do all things and cover 100% needs of my clients. I an tryng to cover 80-90% needs Ok, tried that. error: unknown filesystem. Entering rescue mode. -also those biostar boards that have that stupid bug where they only power on half way unless a monitor is plugged in, do those work with the resetter or does a monitor need to be plugged in or a dummy plug?
Just curious, what cards are you referring to here? GPUs dont make difference. Or you asking something else ? |
