And the miner just crashed again.   Angry Looks like it's time to start swapping out risers to see if one of them is the culprit for these crashes.

What algo/settings you're trying to mine?
I'm trying to mine Jackpotcoin.

My config looks something like this:

ccminer.exe -a jackpot -o POOLURL:PORT -u USERNAME -p PASSWORD
pause

I just let CCMiner autoconfigure the cards. It submits anywhere from 100 shares to 170 shares (so about 5 minutes of working) before freezing up, usually.

@Zels thanks for the link! I'll have to look into that if I do switch to Linux.

Well after switching the risers, it looks like I might have possibly found the bad one - the machine has been mining for longer than usual. It's submitted 250+ shares instead of crashing at 170 or so.  Cool

Here's a picture of my miner, in case anyone was wondering, just for reference (please ignore the cabling  Grin): https://i.imgur.com/SF1QeCW.jpg

Cooler Master HAF 912 Plus is the casing, no? I got the same one. As for the problem, can't really help you with that, but have you tried linux as OS?
It's actually a Rosewill Thor V2 case. They must be quite similar though!

I haven't tried Linux yet, but I suppose that's worth a shot. I'd prefer to keep Windows, but if it comes down to it I'll definitely test Linux on it to see if that works. I use TeamViewer quite a bit on my miners through Windows and I don't think it's supported in Linux.

Now that I have one card connected directly in the board through the 16x slot, I get no display through that card.  Embarrassed I've let the PC sit for about 10 minutes or so now, restarted it a couple times as well and it's displaying nothing. Look at the last line, video works! It was just a mistake that I had made.

All the cards (both directly on the board and on risers) are connected to 16x slots on the board itself.

So now I'll try to figure out how to get video displaying on this card. This motherboard has given me so many issues, nothing seems to work well with it at all. Ah well, maybe sometime I'll treat myself to something better.

The cards are all on risers. I've made sure that none of the risers are dead. Also, all the cards are connected via molex connectors for power to the risers. 3 are on one of the cables directly to the PSU, and the last molex connector is on a different cable directly to the PSU, not sure if this could be the culprit.

Maybe try not to put 3 cards on 1 cable.

I'll try that as well right now, and put two on one, and one on the other cable. I'll get back to you guys again in a few minutes.

@bathrobehero I'll test the risers too, and see if certain configurations change anything.

Thanks for all the quick replies guys, I really appreciate them all!

EDIT: It appears that now the miner is working. It's been running longer than it usually does now with no crashing, so that's definitely a good sign. The no video output was my own mistake - I have two miners connected to a single monitor, and one of them was off while I was testing this one. I forgot to switch outputs to the miner that was having issues, which was why it "wasn't displaying output."

So now it's just a waiting game, to see if it crashes in the next few minutes.

I'm having some issues with CCMiner/Windows, and wondering if you guys can try and help me out.

You're PSU should easily handle the cards so I'm wondering what kind of risers you're using?
I'm using powered USB 3.0 risers (1x to 16x) purchased from PoweredRisers.com.

Here's a link to the risers that I purchased: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Flexible-USB-3-0-Powered-PCI-E-PCI-Express-1x-to-16x-Risers-60cm-Instock-USA-/111295229531?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19e9b66e5b

I'll try connecting the output video card directly to the motherboard and get back to you in a few minutes to see if that helps.

I'm having some issues with CCMiner/Windows, and wondering if you guys can try and help me out.

So here's my setup:
Sempron 145 @ Stock (2nd core not unlocked, everything is stock)
Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 Motherboard
8 GB RAM
4x MSI 750 Ti
Rosewill HIVE 750W PSU

The cards are all on risers. I've made sure that none of the risers are dead. Also, all the cards are connected via molex connectors for power to the risers. 3 are on one of the cables directly to the PSU, and the last molex connector is on a different cable directly to the PSU, not sure if this could be the culprit.

Anyway, the problem I've been having is that when I start CCMiner, it mines great for a few minutes, but after about 5 minutes or so, everything on Windows freezes, the screen freezes exactly how it is, the mouse/keyboard don't do anything and I need to shut the PC off by holding the power button.

I downclocked the cards a little bit and that seemed to fix the problem, after I downclocked one of the cards to -50/-50. I'd be unhappy if the card wasn't able to run stock speeds while mining, but it seems that doing that has prevented my "freeze" crashing.

So then the other problem I've been having since then is that after downclocking the cards, it appears to run fine but after a few minutes, the display driver crashes. I haven't seen it crash yet, but if I let the PC run, then come back awhile later I see that 3 of the cards are at 540MHz while mining, and one of them doesn't even show up in EVGA PrecisionX. Like, PrecisionX sees that there are four cards in the system, and names three of them as GTX 750 Ti's. The fourth one doesn't have a name, and it shows a clock speed of 0/0 in PrecisionX.

Some things I've tried:
-Using Windows 8.1 as my OS - didn't do anything
-Using Windows 7 as my OS - didn't do anything
-Using the latest NVIDIA drivers - no noticeable change, still crashes
-use older 335 NVIDIA drivers released earlier in 2014 - no changes, still crashes
-Swap PCI-e slots for the video cards - no changes at all

So I'm wondering if you guys have any ideas of what might be causing my issues.

Oh and also, the last (and minor compared to all the other) issue that I've been having is that when I try to close CCMiner while mining, the system freezes up for a couple seconds, then my display goes blank and comes back. It seems the NVIDIA drivers are crashing whenever I close CCMiner.

Any help would be appreciated and I'm willing to try what you guys think would solve this issue.

Does anyone know the formula for calculating my JPC per day with a given difficulty and my hashrate?

I can find the scrypt and SHA-256 formulas, but not sure if JPC differs or is similar to them.
here you go

http://dwarfpool.com/jpc/calc
I know about that site, but I was wondering if anyone has the formula so I can make my own mining calculator for JPC.

I heard that Blazedout has free power. Not sure how he manages that but hey, if I had free power I'd be loading up on bitcoin mining gear as well.

He's a smart guy too, he has a huge amount of hardware and I'm sure he has an insane overall hashrate as well, so I'm sure he has a gameplan for all these parts he's buying, even the older inefficient BFL gear.

Alright thanks for all the advice!

I can sort of follow your coding, but it's mostly way over my current coding level.

I'll also have to look into learning C#, I know it's a highly used language much more so than VB .NET.

Do you plan to ever open-source this program?

If it was programmed in Basic .NET then I would like to take a look at how you set up the API/JSON in the program. I just started programming in Basic a few months ago so I know a little bit, but I'd like to figure out how to set up API and JSON to work in my programs.

Haha I'm wondering this as well.  Wink

I also just saw that you're from Italy, so I don't think that would work out well for me at any reasonable price.

Anyway, GLWS!
1574  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS: GTX 750 Ti Graphic Cards NIB on: July 03, 2014, 09:02:30 PM
I purchased 6 for $65 each shipping a couple weeks ago.  Since yours are new I would $75 each and buy them all.  If so let me know
Thanks
Me as well, except I purchased less than 6. If you could do something around $65 a card plus shipping we might have a deal on a couple of them, but $130 each is a little high for me.

1575  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: PBmining - legit? on: July 03, 2014, 04:31:38 PM
They are not going to use the same inefficient hardware to mine for the next 5 years.

If they bought Antminers, they watts per gh are what?  1.5watt to the gh?

If they ordered SP30's from Spondoolie, the watts per gh becomes 0.5watt per gh or less.

If BFL ever ships, their wattage is even less.  If they downclock, the wattage is even less than that.

Plus, you have to look at top end vs bottom.  If a thousand miners bought in at 1gh.  They can buy a single Dragon Miner to mine that at 1.1watt to the gh now.  Then, later, they can put all 1000 people on an Imperial Monarch and pay 0.45 watts per gh.

The power argument over 5 years is stupid.  Due to the difficulty rise, the folks mining after the first year are only going to earn a few Satoshi.  They can buy a modern miner at that time, and pay those people for the entire rest of the four years on that one miner's profits in the first couple months.

They aren't going to just have a miner running and pay more for power than it profits.  That's insane.

I'm critical of these guys as much as anyone, but this power argument is stupid.
My argument was based on power yes, but that's not all. For $2 a GH/s, I highly doubt anyone can rent a facility to run their miners, pay utilities - internet costs and power for both the miners and air conditioning, and hire people to manage the rigs and maintain them.

1576  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: PBmining - legit? on: July 03, 2014, 04:08:51 PM
Lots of discussion here. Any cliffs? Has anyone got to a conclusion?

Yes. You cannot sell a GH/s today 03/07/14 for $2 to mine for 5 years with zero running costs.

So PB mysterious ponzish payouts, not mining.

'Feed your greed' sounds like the wolf of wall street.

It's over $2 per GH/s in electricity alone for 5 years in Washington State one of the cheapest areas in the world on hardware efficiency that isn't out yet. ELECTRICITY ALONE 5 years over 2 DOLLLAAA understand....
And where they're hosting their miners (Alberta) the average electricity cost, as of last year, in Calgary (I believe they said they have a facility there) is about $0.14 per kW/hr.

So let's figure this out, if a single GH/s costs $2, and let's say the efficiency of the hardware is 0.5 watts per GH/s, then your $2 would only be paying the power cost for the hardware for ~3 and a quarter years. Power costs are going up too you have to remember, so I'm not sure how they plan to pay for it after that time length. You also have to factor in AC costs, internet costs, facility costs - all this other stuff that would cost much more than power.

And yeah, the "Feed your greed" slogan kind of turns me off as well.
1577  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS: GTX 750 Ti Graphic Cards NIB on: July 03, 2014, 04:04:07 PM
What kind of prices are you thinking per card?
1578  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: PBmining - legit? on: July 03, 2014, 12:09:48 AM
Well I have a few days off and I'm in the same province as their head office. Maybe I'll send them an email and see if they'd be alright with me coming in, and meeting the PBMining staff one of these days.

It shouldn't be too much of a hassle, seeing as this is their main office, and they supposedly run all their miners in a different province at an undisclosed location. Hopefully they'll be fine with somebody coming in and meeting the crew, maybe discussing bitcoin for awhile too.

EDIT: I sent them an email and asked if I could meet with them at their offices and talk about both their service, as well as bitcoin in general. They denied saying they want to stay anonymous and instead would happily answer my questions over email instead.

Seems a little bit fishy to me...

Well for now my coins are fine sitting on Bittrex and if I lose them, oh well it's just satoshis that will be lost.

I'll look around to see if I can find the Windows wallet anywhere on my hard drive.
1580  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 32x S1's on: July 02, 2014, 02:20:35 AM
I think I'll have to pass then - I'm sure the price of the miner plus 0.08 for shipping wouldn't be worth it.
