What happens then is an interesting conundrum. I must say i have found the general trend of people buying pre-orders for stuff and then selling them on at a profit having never even received them an odd and kind of unpleasant one.

Is this not what Barntech is doing when he pre-orders Bitfury chips and auctions them out at a higher price after hearing news of a price spike on the second pre-order?

Now you are starting to be a troublemaker again. I took a step back as I thought there might have been a misunderstanding earlier but it is pretty clear now that you are playing and twisting words.

All the best to you...

I vote for option 1 as well. I think the idea of making this into a community, especially after all the stuff happening around, would be a great idea. Lead by example. My screen name is a constant reminder to me...

That said, if someone is really hard up for cash, perhaps they can sell back to you and you resell them. That is up for the leaders discretion. But overall, going in the direction of option 1 sounds great.

It makes me feel sad that Barntech et all have put in all this hardwork and effort, just for you to try and make a quick buck off the back of their grafting, AND post the fact they are doing so on Barntech's thread.

It makes me feel sad that Barntech et all have put in all this hardwork and effort, just for you to try and make a quick buck off the back of their grafting, AND post the fact they are doing so on Barntech's thread.

if no one buys them, ill still keep them. just ran into some financial problems. and need to release some cash. that's all. life goes on

Don't you think you should at least wait till Barntech's auction ends?

It has already been stated they are not really making much money on the process and you decide to auction 10 off while his auction is still running?
And even if you pull it now, you probably repress the prices in his auction.

This just seems like a lack of respect to the very guy who was going to build units for you.

Incredibly interesting video from Catherine Austin Fitts that also talks about Global digital currency and how they would "love it" globally.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzVIZU3gmXA

The Video is really interesting but if anything take a look to minute 36 where she talks about digital currencies.

What are your always valuable opinions on this?

Thanks

I think she was saying if alternative energy replaces oil, then the dollar is not really "backed" by anything. The next "backing" would be food/water, which perhaps why Monsanto and the like are trying to gain control over the food supply. Digital currencies fit in there as well, for they can be limited backers of our currencies, or they can be our currencies. She warns agains allowing them control these digital currencies and that we need many.

That last statement is quite interesting as perhaps it's not about "What can Litecoin do that BTC can't?" but rather "We need more than one digital currency to limit the powers that be, in a sense." Certainly something to chew on...
1565  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Incoming Avalon News 8/9/2013 on: August 27, 2013, 06:57:16 PM
OK It's confirmed, today I got offer from local chinese reseller (in Poland) for Avalon chips.
He got them from china in ammount of 500 pieces. He is not a bitcoin miner, he is not even aware what are these chips really designed for.
He is just regular chinese electronics reseller.
I will try to provide photo confirmation asap (tomorow according to seller).
Alibaba offers are real!!

He is not aware of what these chips are designed for, yet he is selling them and paid a premium for them?

What sounds wrong with this?

I'm not into Yifu, he probably cost all of us in many ways, but something isn't right in your statement.
Maybe he is scamming you...

I would never attack a developer like barntech who only helps you guys make coin. Pay attention before you accuse people.

And I really hope you guys don't get treated by bitfury like the other ASIC devs.. who are the true greed source here.  Here's to crossing my fingeres for all of you =D

If my statements were out of line, then I take them back, no bad intention.
But perhaps, you should word your statements more carefully.
You left things quite open and when accusing, you should be quite specific.

1567  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [AUCTION] - GROUP BUY of BITFURY Chips + DRILLBIT SYSTEM mining assembly on: August 27, 2013, 06:24:21 PM
I have seen this post from the beginning... I am a broke open source developer fresh out of Computer Science BS.  So why not keep your last 16 boards if you are going to let the price skyrocket on them.  Over $400 is not a good price for 22GHash board that may be delivered in late October facing difficulty over 75mil.

I try my best to keep the greed out of this community.  Enjoy and lets hope bitfurry calms their greed on their chip prices and stops forcing developers like barntech to watch capitalism at its finest.

Can you read the Bitfurystrikes back site? http://www.bitfurystrikesback.com/shop/
$950 for a 25Gh unit. (October delivery)
Barntech was selling 21GH (or there abouts) for $310. (October to early November delivery)

92% of his stock at that price? (Or there abouts)

And, you are complaining?  Roll Eyes

Your not doing a good job with your greed.
1568  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [AUCTION] - GROUP BUY of BITFURY Chips + DRILLBIT SYSTEM mining assembly on: August 27, 2013, 06:17:33 PM
People are already bidding $410 for one board with more than 24 hours left on your auction...

this is one open source developer that has been annihilated by greed... again.

Who is greedy, a guy (with a small team) who sold roughly 92% of the assembled boards (chips) for $310 for 21Gh or:

- A company charging $950 for 25 GH (which is really what the market will bear, no problem there. (No offense Bitfury)))
- Avalon for selling to the highest bidder and then delivering later?
- People for reselling their gambles in early unknown GB ventures?
- etc. (Many examples here)

You have a lot of nerve to attack a man who said, from the start, that he is not making much, if anything on this. That he was trying to gain trust in this community. He did all that was required and more.
16 boards left (16 X 8 chips per board = 126 chips, out of 1600 Chips (92%) or so) and you come here accusing?

BTW - I have no affiliation outside of being a purchaser. Zero.

Its about sharing (you should remember that)... Angry

1569  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [AUCTION] - GROUP BUY of BITFURY Chips + DRILLBIT SYSTEM mining assembly on: August 27, 2013, 04:07:51 PM
Hello Barntech,

Is there any way to find out where we are in the assembly queue (e.g. # 21 of 100) or the like?
We can't tell from the thread as not all orders are listed here.

Thanks again for your hard work and all,
IAS
1570  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [AUCTION] - GROUP BUY of BITFURY Chips + DRILLBIT SYSTEM mining assembly on: August 27, 2013, 06:30:58 AM
What people are prepared to pay at auction is not a good way to judge the market, there will always be some people that can't spell ROI. The long time until delivery makes the current price only just practical, any more and it's pointless unless we see a substantial rise in BTC/USD to compensate for the expected diff increases.

Even if you take a difficulty that is high (and I did), there should still be a return on these rigs, IF delivered in the expected time frame.

Who said we are judging the market? What other companies are making rigs with Bitfury chips?

You can order an October delivery for 25Gh from Bitfurystrikesback right  now for $950, or one of these app. 21Gh rigs for Huh

edit - What sucks is that the pricing of the new chips might cut Barntech and crew out of future work. All that work for one batch. The auction is the only way to try to get some compensation.
1571  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [AUCTION] - GROUP BUY of BITFURY Chips + DRILLBIT SYSTEM mining assembly on: August 27, 2013, 06:15:20 AM
So we are down to our last few chips. We have had an overwhelming response from everyone. Thank you so much to all those involved in this project. It's very exciting seeing it coming into fruition. From the start, we had hoped to move into a second and third reel of chips on this, but changes in the pricing are looking to make this impossible. If things change on that front, i'll let you know and maybe we can get a second one going. In the mean time, we are moving into auction mode on our remaining chips. There are a few reasons for this, one of course is that it is an opportunity for us to generate a bit more revenue moving into the manufacturing phase of this operation. As it happens, the prices we specced out have blown out quite a lot and we are cutting it very fine in terms of covering costs for the manufacture, so a bit of extra cash will help. Another reason is to gauge what people are willing to pay for these things to see if it might be possible to do another batch at the newer higher prices. New units will have to be quite a bit more to account for the dramatic rise in chip price, but hey, if people are willing to pay it, then we will do it. See how we go. Also, please don't send through any BTC at this time unless specifically asked to. Cheers.

You can find the auction here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=281996.new#new

Happy bidding everyone.

Barntech

Hey Barntech,

I know you mentioned early on (first few pages here) that you guys were cutting it close. I'm happy you got the auction going as you are right, it will be a way for you to raise some deserved capital and also to be rewarded. I hope though that you can continue making the rigs as a lot of work goes into getting this process started, and for it to be closed down would be a shame. Those of us who took a chance on this new GB will probably also be rewarded. Hopefully things work out all around. Good luck with everything.

I am curious though (anyone), is Bitfury basically cutting out the competition from making their own rigs with this new pricing? That or they are betting on other companies not being able to deliver and/or a higher BTC price. Any other ideas guys?
1572  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: August 26, 2013, 12:01:25 PM
Shhh, don't tip the uber-bulls...
// start sarcasm
Uber-bulls have nothing to worry about, the price is going 'up uP UP', 'to da moon', parabolic, whatever you want.
// end sarcasm

If you historically had the below set up, it could have brought you some good entries and most importantly good exits. Yes, I know divergences that are unsupported by additional studies can be pretty much misleading. The current divergence can therefore mean shit.

Thanks for the divergence tips. I have been following some other divergences. Just a not though - with the withdrawal problems at Gox, the divergences (especially with regard to the volume) have not been having the normal corrective results. That started around 1.5 months ago or so, maybe more. Anyway, I'll keep an eye on these divergences. (And I hear Gox is getting better regarding the withdrawals, so perhaps the divergences become more responsive/corrective). The chart looks overall pretty strong though, let's see how this week pans out - I say a challenge and perhaps break of 125...

This sounds like a great idea! do me a favor and print some out from your BIPS account as well.

For those who are curious, that wallet design is from http://bitcoinpaperwallet.com -- and you can order properly-sized ziplock bags for geocaching etc. on the same site.

Hey Canton,

Any suggestions for buying paper that will last? Also, anyone try laminating theirs or is that not a good idea?

Thx,

Outside of the documentation, are there any concise examples of the overclocking commands in action, that I could study before my rigs get here?
Going through this entire thread is not possible!
(I am running MinePeon with CG Miner on a Raspberry Pi. I'll be overclocking a Burnin Mining rig and then a Bitfury chip custom rig).

Thanks,
IAS
No bitfury drivers yet.

Burnin's BitBurner is simply a case of adjusting the freq and the volts - the higher the volts the bigger the risk of hardware failure.
The higher the frequency, the larger the volts required to reduce HW errors.
Update of what I posted in the Burnin thread Smiley
 BTB 0: 56C 400 1346mV | 7.192G/7.991Gh/s | A:243645 R:2216 HW:12 WU:111.6/m
[Device Hardware%] => 0.0049 (yes that's a %)

It's documented in the README, ASIC-README and API-README ...

To set the start voltage:
 --bitburner-voltage nnnn
nnnn - from 1200 to 1400
Warning it can kill your power supply or even your board ... be careful adjusting it too high

To set the start frequency (for one board with 20 chips)
 --avalon-options 115200:2:10:d:nnn
nnn from 282 up to 450

When it's running you can change them also via the API, but it doesn't really help to work out the performance coz you need to run it for a few hours to get marginally reliable statistics - the Avalon driver doesn't count hashes, it estimates them.

Thanks a lot Kano. I know how some newb questions can be a pain.  Grin

I'll watch the voltage closely and wasn't aware of it being able to do so much harm. Had no idea it could hurt a PS.
Hopefully Burnin Mining and SebastianJu find some good settings to settle on and post them.
Barntech will help, I think, with the drivers. At least he is talking about overclocking the rigs he is producing with Bitfury's. Said he got it from 2Ghash/s to 2.7Ghash/s. That is a lot. Burnin Minding talked about getting them to 5Ghash/s and I asked him how as it made no sense, but he never replied. Hmmmmm....

Have you heard of anyone using the --avalon-auto option? I see quite a few other interesting options there.

Thanks,
IAS

Question - is there an easy way to run a few erupters, one Jalapeno and some custom rigs (e.g., Burning Mining) off of one Raspberry Pi w/ MinePeon w/ cgminer AND be able to overclock the custom rig?

Could I just install another instance of CG Miner or can I do the overclock of a specific rig while not affecting all rigs?
Or would it be better/simpler to get another Raspberry Pi?

I am not script writing capable, so please consider that.

Very much appreciated and Minepeon doner,  Grin

Hmmm! Maybe have "DrillBert" hitting a block and have BTC flying out?!

That is what I'm taking about! Get to work!

Seriously, really nice and creative answer. (Hitting a block and a BTC coming out somewhere. But where?)

Hey guys! I've been given approval to start developing the website for this project.

I haven't run this mascot/logo by barntech yet but what do you guys think?!

Anyone else looking for some graphics design / web design?!

Pretty nice I must admit. (First Impression)
Great with the drilling theme actuated.

What about some BTC results/hit from the "drilling"?  Grin

Is there an ongoing doc available (or link) on the overclocking settings for when we get our Burin rigs?
(Something specific to these rigs).

edit - Also, has anyone played with this setting? "--avalon-auto       Adjust avalon overclock frequency dynamically for best hashrate"
I haven't read the whole thread but curious how this compares to manual...

Thx,
IAS

+1

ThanksĄ

Welcome and here is a start, but like I said I'm looking for something regarding these rigs specifically.
https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer/blob/master/ASIC-README (Seems very simple, not a lot of settings).
