We have quite the space to expand.
Before space.
Well, we shouldn't rule out space. Roach can go to space. He can colonize Uranus.

Do you know about the mouse utopia experiment of John B. Calhoun? What happens to mice in a closed space with all the food they could want? As population grows, birthrate starts falling to almost 0. Same thing can be applied to humans, with Earth as our closed off space.
Evolutionary traits are kicking in to stop overpopulation. All natural. Might drive us to extinction, might not.
Just took a trip through North Dakota and Montana: There is so much open space in the US that overcrowding will not be a problem. I sem to recall the drop in birth rate is natural when one's kids stop dying in childhood.

What the hell is all that about?
Just another Satoshi wannabe with website, advertising, a story behind and willingness to convince people (and government institutions). Since he cannot really prove anything, he's just another fly near the "I am Satoshi" pie. Proof is simple: If you can move one of the first bitcoins then you're Satoshi.

Speaking of parabolas, I was on a road trip last weekend (over 2000k) and I saw this rainbow touching the earth. It was actually colouring the trees where it touched - or it was a very convincing optical illusion. I've never see that before. Also, I'm sorry to report that there was no pot of gold! (Maybe I was at the wrong end) NB. Before anyone goes all scientific on me, I know a circle is not a parabola but they can both be derived by intersecting a plane with a cone and I needed a segue At the bottom of the rainbow was a guy with a Block Erupter mining solo who just got a block.

Going to keep our Porsches. Don't feel like buying anything new from them until their EVs mature a bit more. The MacLaren should be a fun toy in the meantime.
Hm. What's your thought on the Taycan? I took the little Porsche to an autocross this weekend, lot lighter than the 928S but not as much of a beast. Someone there did have a Panamera plug-in hybrid and he seemed to like it.... I want a big, heavy, fast, low car. Not an SUV/Minivan on steroids.

Sweet dreams dude. Say anyone know how much a black helicopter goes for these days?
At $10200 now. Whee?

|

*sigh* Back at $10,000 again. When oh when will we finally have a breakout?

Meantime back in shit-dollar world I'm amazed that the Fed can just create $100 billion dollars out of thin air.... https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/25/business/overnight-lending-market-federal-reserve/index.htmlNo matter the cause, it's clear the Fed will be forced to continue pumping tens of billions of dollars into the system daily for the foreseeable future.. "It is worrisome that these numbers continue to rise, and we don't yet have a very clear explanation," said Colas. Sure, just trust their currencies.

I'm just sad, in a way, that I will never be able to reasonably break opsec, and meet with some of you folks in meatspace Hardly. Soon we will all meet on the top of Devil's Tower, flying in our own personal black helicopters. We'll have a big bonfire up there, sit around, and shoot the shit.

Back at last, both from vacation and from the forum problems. Looks like the "Show new posts" function is still throwing a 503, but I was able to find this thread manually.
Now, back to 10,000.....

the ones we are talking about are more like 3/4" copper pipe
From what I have seen a large part of the problem is using massive 12 volt power supplies that can put out thousands of amps. Those are run with copper bus bars past the miners and tapped off straight into the miner boards. Efficient and cheap power supply, but the problem is when a board shorts instead of just crowbarring a 1,000 watt ATX supply you're now feeding 1,000+ amps into the short. This turns the miner into a welding torch with flames coming out of the still powered 12 volt fans. Hilarity ensues.

I really should get back into repairing miners. That looks like a fun little project.
lol...snarf....roflamao... 1 merit You could make a blog...Lightfoot lost in China looking for the ruins of an ancient ASIC data hall (myth?) and attempting with no language skills to revive some miners. Heck, I'd pay for that blog! I speak the language of bitcoin, no translators necessary. However it would be cool to unearth Friedcat and all those Asicminers.....

uh, yeah...
especially when they blow and a whole bank of miners goes down for no reason...duh
Fuses always blow for a reason. Typically due to voltage sag from cheap-ass wiring or a shorted chip in a miner. No fuse=plasma fire. Ah well.

Yeh, i hope next few day repairing everything normally working well. others hand lost her time economically damage. I'm thinking a lot of those miners are gone. Big problem: These things generate heat, and if you put them on big power busses without fusing you're just asking for a fire. But fuses cost money.....
