Meh that's nothing. Botnets back in 2011 and 2012 were making more than what 650GH/s can do today Still, 650GH/s is an insane amount for a single computer. Wonder how much power it uses though...

A sign that intelligence is not required to have power or wealth. The fact that Ghash.IO does nothing about it and scares the community shows how apathetic they are for the community's concern. May their servers suffer a thousand EMPs This exactly. I remember a couple months ago they said they'd "implement a feature to allow users to mine at different pools" *crickets chirp*

That's a pricey monitor, you're best off to buy urself a kill-a-watt monitor and do the math from there
This, mining rigs don't really fluctuate with power draw so it's usually a pretty constant number when you're using a watt meter, plus it doesn't cost $200.

I've been running some of mine for a year straight or so now. A 7950 of mine is now getting a couple HW errors everyday but still runs great. A 7850 that I've been using for a year as well is having a fan trouble but other than that they still both hash great.

electric rates in Las Vegas are far too high to make large facility investments
Sounds like he's trying to install solar panels on his potential facility, so that would cut down on his power costs a little bit, hopefully sometime pay themselves off too. Good luck with finding a partner though, sounds like an interesting venture!

Just popped by to say thanks to the developers - I'm using CCMiner for Jackpotcoin right now and it couldn't have been easier to set up. Thanks again guys!

I've heard the 750's are good cards for mining, but the 750 Ti's are currently the sweet spot with efficiency at scrypt/scrypt-n/x11 as well as a variety of other algos.
260Kh/s for a card that costs $100 (IIRC) is pretty good too though.

I can't seem to get onto the app store right now, but $5 for an app to monitor your mining stats at cex.io? Someone should develop a free one for iOS and put ads on it to make a little money, plus give users a free alternative. That's probably easier said than done though.
EDIT: Wait they're not charging $5 usually. "Introductory Offer: 50% off until June 10th!" They're charging $10 for this app?!?!?! That's absurd!

If I were to use a wireless adapter with PiMP (namely a TP-Link adapter, not sure the exact model, but I know it works under Ubuntu right out of the box) is there a good chance it would work? When I tried it with BAMT IIRC it didn't work.

Is there a link to download the latest windows binaries for ccminer that includes the changes to improve simd performance? without compiling?
http://cudamining.cc/url/releasesEDIT: V1.02 Question here guys, I've looked through the CCMiner releases, and can't find any word of X13 in them yet. It isn't supported by CCMiner yet, correct?
http://cudamining.cc/url/faqOops. Sorry for the stupid question guys, but thanks for an answer!

This may be a wrong belief, I think running a full node exposes my home computer to potential attacks. There must be a secure way to setup a full node without sacrificing security, but I do not know how to. I will just leave it to the more able bitcoiners.
I've heard that as well - I think you'd be safe though by encrypting your bitcoin wallet. I'm not 100% certain, but I suspect that would protect you from any incoming attacks.

I just checked out the site - it looks like they host their rigs in the same province that I'm located in.
Kind of interesting, I wonder if they've ever let people into their facilities to actually see that they have hardware mining. I doubt they'd let anyone do that though.
may be you should ask to visit the facility and see their response once Their facilities aren't in my province, it turns out that only their main office is. Still, I guess seeing a real office could possibly provide some proof that it isn't just run out of somebody's basement.

I like PBMining. Could be a scam, but they payed me over half a bitcoin last night.
See link in signature.

I was running one for a month or so, but it was fairly expensive to host ($10/month and I didn't get anything out of it) so I stopped the node after a month. It relayed probably 30 transactions in that month, and I'm not sure if the contributions it made to the network were worth $10 to me and others, which is why I stopped.
I might think about starting one up again if there's a feature implemented that pays node operators - something like a masternode that Darkcoin has implemented. Then it would make more sense to me.
As for security, I think the real security issue we have right now is that Cex.io has been eerily close to having 50% of the network hashrate for months now, IMO having ~7k nodes and worrying about security on them is a lower priority than people having 50%+ of the network hashrate.

Awesome farm! I was thinking about setting one up for a couple of GPU rigs but nothing on the scale of what you're doing. I love the wifi controlled lightbulb, that's a really good idea.
Have you run into any issues with the miners since setting them up there?
The PSU's have been the biggest issue thus far. We're using the 835w IBM PSU's, one for every 2 miners. They have a nagging habit of shutting off and you have to fiddle with them to get them back up. Luckily we're getting them for between $10-$14 per, so I'm not too concerned with having to replace them. Other than that, there's not too many issues we're facing yet. Very curious to see what happens when the outside temperature starts climbing. We've had a very mild spring and haven't really climbed into the Summer temps yet (100+ f). I would imagine there will be some more tinkering in our future to combat that. That's quite a project, and what a deal on those power supplies, $10-$14 per supply is an awesome deal!

Really interesting setup, so are you solo mining or on a pool?

Yes, as they are entering the new production cycle for their 28nm chip (Bitmain S3) they are just selling off the "old" components without bothering to do full assembly and sourcing of cases / PSUs.
They probably finished the S2 production cycle at the beginning of this month, selling the built units until now.
As their 28nm production starts, it is very easy for them to first send only "blades" ie. upgrade modules to customers.
If you already own a Bitmain S2 you can then easily upgrade it by swapping out the modules and voila you have your new and more efficient miner.
As their assembly starts to gain speed again, i am sure they will also sell complete S3s.
That's interesting. I guess it's nice thought that by buying this kit you can pick your own power supply, but I don't think I'd be up for making my own case / fan braces.
