1641  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is like day trading ? on: April 17, 2020, 06:05:36 PM
Definitely, trading is like gambling but like what some people said, it's not vice versa means gambling can't be trading. Both trading and gambling have risk, trading usually has long term risk since you're waiting for the pump in the market while gambling is just a short term risk which means a situation will occur after betting. Both should be learned but for me, trading is more complex than gambling 'cause you just need to rely on luck sometimes.
1642  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google has removed 49 cryptocurrency wallet browser extensions! Good move? on: April 17, 2020, 05:20:29 PM
Obviously, it's a good move of google 'cause they knew what's the best for them. I think those extensions are bypassing the security of each individual on their internet browser. According to the news, those 49 cryptocurrency extensions are stealing private keys and their targets are
  • Ledger
  • Trezor
  • Jaxx
  • Electrum
  • Myetherwallet
  • Metamask
  • Keepkey
  • Exodus

and those extensions aren't real, they are programmed to steal keys.
1643  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coronavirus crypto on: April 17, 2020, 04:35:31 PM
Obviously, to some extent, bitcoin depends on the state of the global economy.
However, despite the deplorable state in which Bitcoin is located, it shows itself extremely positively, which somewhat surprises me.
We still focus on the idea of demand and supply, which is why we still do not assume that at some stage the plague is disrupting the crypto market. We didn't think about the other aspects of the economy, which are the consumers who are most impacted by the latest pandemic.

So I hope they should stop suggesting the coronavirus doesn't impact the market 'cause we don't have proofs that will make this argument valid.
1644  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 26 days to the halving left, what are you expecting? on: April 17, 2020, 04:02:17 PM
I am hoping there is an uptrend but after reviewing past bitcoin halving, the price does not go up automatically,  Often about 150 days after halving the price will go up. I hope it is the same this time in 2012 halving from $12.35 on Halving Day goes to $127.00 after 150 Days that's is a huge increase in price. I guess thinking negative things does not help this time so we need to be positive about it even we are in crisis now.
IMO, bitcoin on that year wasn't really popular and only the market people are the ones who adapt its early stage. Now, there are many users and investors of bitcoin now, I guess it will not take a lot of days to gain its pump after bitcoin halving. I'm sure 100% that it will give a wonderful hike on the market and I'm fine with it even it's not a huge pump.
1645  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in High School Syllabus on: April 17, 2020, 03:37:30 PM
This is a big no for me. It is not that I am against bitcoin and the blockchain technology in the curriculum, but we should consider the course, and the student himself. Another thing is that there are a lot of sources where students can learn about bitcoin, from videos to books and articles, they could learn a lot of it. Also, here in our province, finding a teacher would be hard to teach that subject, it is also not suitable in our environment and with the lack of materials, it would be hard to teach it. Though currencies and also taxations are taught in our school so in terms of bitcoin might replace fiats, I guess our students can answer that.
Agree, I've known that teaching about bitcoin is very difficult, the process and the one who will teach it. Even in seminars, it's hard to find someone that will serve as a speaker and will teach those complex knowledge. There are many necessary things or technology than bitcoin that can be used in our daily life basis. Bitcoin knowledge is on a different level and requires a lot of understanding especially when you go to the topic of programming to understand the core.

If we're talking about blockchain and such, those are complex and that's not appropriate to be on the curriculum of high school. But in college and the course is somehow related to technology; Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology and Computer Engineering, it's a good idea.

My classmates have already implemented blockchain on their thesis/project study and the only foundation they used on creating it are just basic programming and YT tutorials. It's a reliable knowledge if it's been taught before the start of a project study course subject.
1646  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in High School Syllabus on: April 17, 2020, 03:05:01 PM
I guess bitcoin in high school syllabus is not very essential 'cause there are many handy technology tools that we should focus more on. Basic software is those we should learn in high school, bitcoin is a different level and the technology is very complex.

And bitcoin is not necessary to be learned as not all of the people will be gonna use of it. The education system don't find it as a practical knowledge that will help those kids on their life.

Instead of bitcoin, it's better to learn blockchain first and it should be in the course outline in college especially when your course is somehow related to technology.
1647  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 26 days to the halving left, what are you expecting? on: April 17, 2020, 09:18:48 AM
Although I am expecting to see a big explosion on bitcoin price before or after bitcoin halving, I doubt that it will happen so soon because bitcoin still collecting more supports to raise the price. Perhaps, it will occur after the halving happens, and it might come like what we saw before. But the chance to see the highest price will be there as I see that many people make their own prediction on how higher bitcoin can increase. Perhaps, the price will still up and down like what we see now, or maybe the price will go up and break every high price level first and stable at $10k or $12 or $13. After that, the altcoin will get their turn to increase higher, and the second wave of bitcoin will happen, and it will grow so high. But once again, that will be a prediction which we don't know if that will happen or not.
Same, bitcoin halving is an unusual case, and recent halving still results in pumping. Let's hope it happens again because I'm saving a lot of bitcoin right now and just waiting for this pump. $10k isn't unlikely because the last time it already reaches $9k but COVID-19 appears and it's going to send a metric of downfall.

Even though we don't have proof that it will pump, I still have faith and being optimistic on the current situation of the market.
1648  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coronavirus crypto on: April 16, 2020, 11:58:41 PM
I think the novel coronavirus serves as one of the factors that make cryptocurrency at downfall today. The crypto market is somehow related to the oil, stocks, forex and other markets as well. And we all know that the market plays in the concept of demand and supply and we could assume that it's not.

But you guys forget about the consumers and producers who really played well in that concept and those are affected by the coronavirus, so definitely it really affects the cryptocurrency but in the minimal state.
1649  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin a failed experiment? on: April 16, 2020, 11:46:42 PM
--
Really? Bitcoin's value as of now is very stable at $7k and have a good chance of going back to $9k club. It's the right thing of selling that bitcoin since you don't deserve it for not having faith in its potential in the market. Investment is not just a sleight of hand, it requires timing and good decision and I guess you're rushing on it.

I don't think it's a failed experiment, people already used the blockchain on many innovative projects and succeed so why should we call Bitcoin, which is the origin as a failure? Blockchain is another advanced technology where we can get another technology on it by studying and using it.
1650  Local / Pilipinas / Re: "Development" and "Improvement" of the Society: Discussion about Blockchain. on: April 16, 2020, 11:36:48 PM
I really hope that our government will fully adopt the blockchain technology lalo na sa fair voting system nation para mapagaan pakiramdam ng tao sa tiwala man lang. Pero una dapat nating ipangaral ang tamang paraan sa pagamit ng blockchain at cryptocurrency para ito ay maging positive sa mata ng tao na magbibigay din ng positive result ng mass adoption sa bansa natin.
I hope so, the blockchain itself has many capabilities like using it in a voting system.
Kaya mas okay sana na mas suportado ang cryptocurrency and yung technology behind which blockchain para sa innovative projects. People already see bitcoin as a good asset kasi madami ng gumagamit, ang gobyerno nalang ang iniintay sa implementation dito sa ating bansa pero malabong mangyari iyon.
1651  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is why bitcoin is unique. on: April 16, 2020, 11:31:02 PM
It's really a unique feature of bitcoin, whales can move around and freely in the ocean without any hindrances.

Transactions don't need any requirements, which means even you're transferring a million worth of money, it's not a big deal.

That's why people are still using and having faith in bitcoin, much essential than banks.
1652  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does Libra still pose a threat to Bitcoin? on: April 16, 2020, 11:22:51 PM
IMO, even the mainstream news is not talking about Libra, it is not a threat to bitcoin.

I think Facebook libra is just giving more mainstream coverage to bitcoin, meaning, people will still look around and will discover the bitcoin, the opposite of Libra.

I've just read something that Libra has a collaboration with Dapper Labs, the one that created CryptoKitties and Flow Blockchain. Not only on Dapper Labs, they already have connections multi-millionaire company so definitely it will give a good and popular name on the public. Their partnership will make Libra as a major competitor on all assets.

1653  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's price, and mental health. on: April 16, 2020, 07:29:17 PM
Well, actually my mental health is fine, as long as bitcoin is above $7000 haha
I think it's better if it went up to $10,000. My brain will be at ease and relaxed, no mental health issues.

I'll gonna be more patient on this since bitcoin halving is near and pumping is possible.
The current price of BTC now is $7027.18, let's wait for a month.
1654  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NOTHING IS ABOVE BITCOIN on: April 16, 2020, 07:16:32 PM
Bitcoin is steady and decent volume at the moment but you never know whats going to happen with the rate. The 2nd famous coin is still far behind, but we all know what happened with Bitcoin a while ago, then it was also just few cents worth. I am really curious what will happen with other coins with the value. Bitcoin can also collapse
Agree with you, altcoins are also hope of cryptocurrency and shouldn't belittle. They have the capabilities of surpassing bitcoin soon. It's true that bitcoin is still gaining much value but does the high value will exist for many years? We don't know.

If bitcoin is the greatest, it doesn't mean we shouldn't invest in the smaller ones. They are being called an alternative for a reason.

1656  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Age restriction in gambling on: April 10, 2020, 11:29:08 PM
they should also do some kinda study for those young ones who got involved in gambling and what they have become. pretty interesting to know about what happened in their adult age!
Before implementing some rules, they should have definite research regarding this before allowing it.

I doubt Malawi done anything of it.
The research was done in Canada with 366 participants. The study shows that most of the affected gender of gambling addiction are males. Students with poor school achievement and grades, not financially stable, have problems in behavior and their own social life are those who exposed themselves to gambling.
1657  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your Satoshi theory? Deceased or alive & well on: April 10, 2020, 11:10:35 PM
Satoshi theory? I don't really care at all if he/she's still alive or dead.

To be honest, I am proud of him because I really like his idea, which is the BTC, and it makes me admire him for inventing something that will change the lives of others. And I don't know if he's dead, people are still using his own invention, and with that, the advancement of our technologies will continue and won't meet an end.

What's my reason? I respect his decision for being anonymous from the start so obviously he wants to hide his identity or other personal things to the public, therefore, we shouldn't be bothered at all about him.

He's probably still alive since Bitcoin is not that old. This topic would make more sense 15 years from now. He's probably still doing whatever he can to keep his identity hidden.
Almost 10 years? Even at the 1st anniversary of bitcoin, there's a possibility that he might die. No one's immortal here.
1658  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: [MEGATHREAD] Pilipinas Coronavirus/COVID-19 Thread on: April 10, 2020, 10:44:53 PM
~
My conclusion to this tally, sobrang baba ng ating recovery rate unlike sa mga kalapit na bansa. IMO, hindi pwede na ito lang ang pagbasehan natin dahil mas maganda ang record na may inclusion ng rate of population at mga na-test para malaman natin ang pagkakaiba and also PUM & PUI sa bawat bansa. Tho, big amount of deaths in our country really shows na hindi masyadong handled ng DOH at di tayo ready sa mga situation na ganito. I think this is the effect ng pagbabawas ng funds para sa department of health which is obviously sobrang importante dahil sa panahon ngayon, anytime pwede na magkaroon ng mga panibago at iba't ibang sakit.
The "unpreparedness" was not the effect of a budget cut. The initial proposal for the 2020 budget was lower than that of 2019 but the approved budget was actually higher.
  • 2019 approved budget: Php 165.92 billion; 2020 Approved/Signed - Php 172.37 billion (source)
  • 2020 proposed budget - Php 166.5 billion (source)

I think there were major boosts/improvements in our healthcare system since this current administration took over but it's still not ready to take on a global pandemic like COVID-19
Sa budget na yan, hindi ba included yung PhilHealth diyan? Definitely, Malaki ang mababawas sa 172.37 billion and di natin sure kung nag-eexist pa yung pera na yan. The cut in the budget has a huge impact, makakapagprovide sana tayo ng mas maraming equipments for testing, additional quarantine rooms, medical supplies and such that will help to prevent the increasing amount of deaths here. Okay ng dumami ang cases, it means the government is tracing all of those PUI and PUM para hindi na mag-spread pa yung novel coronavirus, huwag lang dumami ang death cases sa ating bansa.

I've noticed na some of the PPEs and testing kits ay donation pa from the other countries.
Even the founder of Alibaba, Jack Ma, who donated a lot of testing kits.
We can also assume that our medical experts had underestimated this virus but, to be fair, almost every country did and many of them had a better healthcare system than us. With the increasing daily testing capacity, with more quarantine facilities being built and with more protective gears & medical equipment being bought/manufactured/donated, hopefully we can flatten the curve even further and lessen the number of casualties.
I doubt they underestimated the virus outbreak, as news arrived, all the people, particularly those in the medical profession, asked for an early travel ban because they knew the system's vulnerabilities and incapabilities. We're lucky that we have a lot of quality hospitals like Makati Medical Center (MMC) that discharges many recovered COVID-19 patients so far. On the other hand, many frontliners died already due to a lack of PPEs and medical equipment.

Even though it's too late, I'm still hoping for positive outcomes and let's pray for all those people that act truly to recover as a coronavirus-free country. Also hoping na matapos na talaga para wala ng extension ng ECQ ang mangyari dahil sobrang daming apektado sa ECQ na na-implement.
1659  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ESPORTS - predictions and tips (Dota 2, CS:GO, LoL) on: April 10, 2020, 10:30:52 PM
I'm interested if Esport events are still going to continue because of the COVID-19 Virus. I guess a lot of events that including huge crows are going to be canceled in order to prevent the coronavirus.
You are missing a lot.

Forget about those live events, esports can be played even without those huge crowds.
Yeah, this is the only sports that can be done online so probably events or tournaments can still be continued.

The live events you're referring are those majors events that require crowd and support of the people, are canceled because it can't be done online. Major events need sponsors to gain huge pot, it's part of the strategy to hype the people, watch the series of the tournament and to be the witness of the world champion on that specific game.

You can watch  ESL Pro League Season 11 that is currently happening right now and bet for Astralis.  Wink
1660  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Age restriction in gambling on: April 10, 2020, 09:46:32 PM

I do agree with you mate people who made this rule must be crazy when they clearly know that gambling is not good for even teen agers as they can not handle the lose of their money we should not put our young generation in this kind of activities. Better let you children grow mentally then let them gamble and ask them to learn how to gamble first then enter casino.
I think they're just very confident in their education system that's why they thought that through education and learning systems, kids will understand the advantages and disadvantages of money. Obviously, even until now, there are many flaws and holes on the education system, it keeps developing and improving until we reach the peak of gaining knowledge.

But personally, even the child has knowledge through the whole art of money, the temptation to gamble and lose a good future is very high. So it's not recommendable for me even for college students who still getting taking their undergrad, they shouldn't gamble.
Financial literacy has not been taught to kids in school and the students don't have an idea about personal finance. Without knowing how to control personal finance, it is hard to imagine responsible gambling from the same students. The knowledge factor is the main case for controlling the money activity during gambling but no one can swallow the loss without the emotional reaction, honestly.
According to them, the reason behind this is they're confident that children know already about the money. On some sources, babies don't really understand the art of money so there's no need to worry about it. But I doubt it also, I think there are some factors they didn't consider and just allowed 5 years old in casino houses due to their own beliefs without good research.

I just read some e-books about gambling for kids and I found this, it might help you guys also:
