so, after going through a pretty awful losing streak i plan to come back and place some bets again in the Arlington major playoffs. You guys have any predictions/tips? OG to win and Outsiders - TS to go the distance are my top priority picks, but i haven't locked anything yet 🤔
I like your pick in OG but I will choose the + handicap if ever. I think that bet is safer. I do not think that OG can 2-0 Entity. Entity is quite a formidable opponent as well.

The same goes with TS vs Outsiders.

The top in Group A is PSG.LGD. They dropped only a game on the group stage. They are poised to win the tournament showing a very strong and versatile lineup. I do not know if OG, Team Secret or Aster will be able to defeat them if ever they meet in the finals. They are the strongest team right now in the major. I will bet on them to 2-0 Boom Esports.

Meanwhile, team Aster is the top dog in Group B. They are a Chinese team also like LGD. They are quite strong too in the tournament. You better include them in the teams you want to bet on. They will facing FNATIC which we all know is incomplete with 3 stand-ins. Aster will make quick work on them.

It's really annoying that the shot still went on and change the fate of those who backup SMB's handicap, an almost win that end up with losing their bet.

That is gambling for you.

Actually, aside from the game, it is the sudden win or loss that makes it exciting. It is just too bad that luck did not go in their favor.

Imagine how Meralco backers feel when that last shot went in. They might have given up already and accepted the loss but suddenly they won. What a great feeling that is.

1683  Other / Archival / Re: Entrepreneurship or Office job? on: August 08, 2022, 04:08:35 PM
The struggle between the decision of being your own boss and working under someone is becoming more difficult to make as economic situations become tougher. From evaluation around me, self proclaimed entrepreneurs are quitting entrepreneurship because of difficulty in maintaining a business and reduced sales due to reduced purchasing power from people, an effect of the economic situation. Office workers on the other hand who also have been on one salary grade for a long time now are becoming fed up with how their monthly salary is no longer sufficient to secure a comfortable lifestyle for a month also due to the higher cost of living. What do you think is the way forward?

For most of us, especially in my country, one cannot survive with just one source of income. Working an office job is a secure source of income. Like the money will regularly enter your account. Unlike running a business, the money is not always there since most businesses have their slow days and their peak days. Unfortunately, most of the time, income from a job is not enough.

For me, to move forward, keep a regular job if you already have one. And in your free time, use it to run or establish your business. I still strongly believe that to be able to achieve financial freedom, you need to have your own business.  Do this until your business can sustain all your financial needs. Then when that time comes, you can quit your regular 8-5 job. It will be exhausting and most of the time it will drain you but if you do not do this, you will be stacked in whatever you are in right now. If you want to move forward, you have to sacrifice something. And for young people, it is their strength, body, and time they can give to be successful.
1684  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 08, 2022, 02:40:08 PM
Yeah, it's real. Offer after an offer is coming but the Nets also don't like what they are putting on the table. The other team who deals with them will not go beyond what the Nets want. If they don't want the deal then it's just okay. This is why it is taking so long before the drama ends.
There's a solution though if the Nets really want it bad to let Durant go. Just accept what is given and move on. They won't have any better season if the management and the player wouldn't be on the same page.
Maybe it's time to do it like what Jazz had been focusing on, rebuilding.

They cannot rebuild though because they do not have any draft picks. They have thrown all their picks just to assemble the team they had last year. It will take them a while if they start rebuilding. That is why they are so keen on getting picks along with stars on Durant trade offers. If they decide to just take whatever is offered for Durant though, I think they have to tank at least 3-5 years in rebuilding. That is how much Durant hurt their future.

I read an article recently about the GSW management interview regarding Draymond Green possible trade since GSW has a lot to handle in there plate while Green is demanding a max contractthat will last up to 10yrs. The management is considering Green age will not give them the best benefit later on if they allow his request. They are looking for potential trade with Aaron Gordon since Gordon is still young and has a lotof room for improvement. Is this unfair to Green once this trade proceed?

Hope he understands that everything is just business and Green started all of this when he overestimated his value in GSW. His career is already in the decline but he is still asking for a max extension. I guess his gamble does not pay him off. Anyway, he said that if GSW does not give him max extension, he will be joining and winning it with Lebron. Let's see if he really can walk the talk or it is all just a big bluff.
1685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [DOTA2] PGL Arlington Major 2022 Prediction Thread on: August 08, 2022, 02:19:13 PM
I think the only team who can stop PSG.LGD is Team.Aster and Monet as that carry player is insane in farming , map positioning and team fights but same think can be said on Ame PSG as well.

Chinese dota is on another level and we see that EU teams and EG from NA are trying to copy some drafts here and there but it seems only EG is starting to finally found their pace and style and I do want to see a game between EG and PSG but until that , final games of groups right ?
I see PSG.LGD winning another Major. They are just too good when it comes to early and mid game team fights, irrespective of the draft. Team coordination is next level. With OG, Team Secret, Team Spirit etc all not have a great time. It's PSG.LGD that has remained consistent. Aster seems like the only team close to LGD but I doubt they could overcome in a 5 game affair.

We will see. It is different when it is just BO2 or BO3 than Bo5. It is when usually strategies get exposed that sometimes they fail to adjust to the latter games. The only thing is since PSG is at a top bracket and top seed, they may have an advantage in rest versus those teams that are coming from the lower bracket. If I were LGD, I would just throw this tournament since it has no bearing on them for TI and reserve my strategies for the bigger stage in TI11.

1686  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: August 08, 2022, 08:57:40 AM
Since there are more teams in the A group, The teams that have qualified for the next round isn't confirmed yet(except PSG.LGD.). Boom just scraped through with a couple of draws against Team Spirit and Team Aster while OG lost 2-0 to Outsiders and have some crucial games coming up. Outsiders, OG, RNG and Liquid are fighting for the 3rd and 4th spot.
It is the last day of the Group stage.

Outsiders will probably retain their 3rd place position in Group A since they have the easiest match left against Soniqs. Soniqs is at the bottom of the standing.

OG will battle against Talon. While RNG will duke it out with Team Liquid.

ODDS:
6.0 Talon vs OG 1.92
2.95 RNG vs Liquid 3.4

I will take a risk again on OG in this match even though they have not been good to my prediction in this tournament. It is tempting to bet on Talon's 6.0 odds but I believe they are no match against OG right now.
1687  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: August 07, 2022, 07:42:56 PM
Their coach is a genius when it comes to drafting and all things related to strategies that it's no longer a surprise why there aren't any teams capable of figuring them out right now. The only reason why old era OG defeated these guys in lots of matches is because there was very limited meta to choose from back then and N0tail immediately recognizes what LGD wants to do by just the first pick and the first few bans alone. I have high hopes for PSG.LGD to win this year's TI. They are already in form since Riyadh Masters, and are only trying to prove their point across by adding salt to the wound of teams that they will be matched along the way.

I think it is not wise for LGD to keep winning in Arlington Major. There is no real stake for them in this tournament. They are already locked in for TI11 and the prize pot is just so so compared to what they won in Riyadh. They are just giving away so much information for other teams on their strategies going into TI11. Unless they are too confident that no team could ever figure them out coming to TI but that is not actually true. Other teams can figure you out and will form a strategy against you especially when it comes to BO5 matches.

NAVI lost 0-2 to Team Spirit. I think Navi is already out of this tournament together with Tundra Esports. NAVI just needed a win to make it to the lower bracket and they were doing very well early on both of the maps but Team Spirit was able to turn around things when the timing hits a late game. NAVI just could not finish their early lead.
1688  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 07, 2022, 12:00:20 PM
Injuries are a big part of the game, but when you get that back to back to many of your players that way, it really hampers all the development you had. At the very least they know what they have and they can continue to do that. They have Ball at pg, lavine at sg, derozan at sf, those are all amazing players for their positions. Sure it is not as good as Warriors, I do not deny that but at the very least they are doing fine.

I can see them being a finalist contender if they keep it up, east is a weaker conference and most of them have supertars that help them get there, with just one injury they could end up playing at the finals very easily.

I would not say that east is a weaker conference because right now, East is emerging again. The trio in boston are in their prime and an easy championship contender. Not to mention bucks, sixers and miami are really strong contenders too. Bulls are good team but with the competition in the east right now, I do not think they can come on top.

I thought he is going back to the Cavaliers to play with the young guys there and just say "I'm back" in an Arnold Schwarzenegger style.  Cheesy
Maybe after these 2 more years as he is still in a good condition to add another championship for the Lakers.

Would he still be even competitive by that time. He will be 40+ after the extension. It is best for him to retire. If he still wants to be involve in basketball, it is better for him to buy a basketball team. He is a billionaire, he can easily do that. And doing that, he can be a real GM too if he wants it.

I would be positive about Lebron's staying at Lakers on the condition that they change Westbrook with a better guard now. For example Irving would be a wonderful teammate for Lebron and there were already some speculations about a probable trade in this way. In case this happens I believe that Lakers would have a much more solid season this time. They were just a big disappointment the last time and the team need to make themselves forgiven by their supporters.

Irving is a double edge sword though. On one side, he is a lethal scorer with elite-level ball handling. He is very skilled and athletic. On the other side, he can be very problematic to handle. Too many personal issues that he lets affect his profession. If Kyrie could control himself and just be a professional basketball player and do not mix drama with career, he is sure a good addition to the Lakers. Otherwise, he is just another headache for the coach and Lebron.

Almost a win by the Hotshots but lucky break for Castro to hit that winning three. Mikey William was limited to just 15 points in 40 minutes of play so good defense there by the Hotshots but it's just the break doesn't go their way, i'm confident that game4, Magnolia will win but to be sure take the option with the handicap to be sure.

Jason Castro deserved to be the best player for this game. He saved the game for TNT since M Williams is limited today. Lucky break for them that two key players got fouled out. If not, it could have been the win for Magnolia.

The exchange in the last quarter was amazing. NO time out but Castro was still able to make a shot on that last play. Castro showing experience and veteran leadership when it matters the most. It will surely be another exciting match on game 4.

Anyways, congrats to those who bet on Magnolia +5.5, no sweat at all lol.

Bookies did not get the odds right this time. Congratulations to those who bet in Magnolia. Easy win indeed.

Ana is very suitable to RNG because he has an experience to play with Chinese teams while Chinese team supports are very versatile and very good on providing space that Ana needs to farm freely. We all know that is good carry if he can have a space to farm safely. Kaka is the real MVP on all of there games.

Kaka showing off MVP moves with his Lion on game 2 against Talon. RNG beat Talon 2-0. They out-drafted and outplayed talon as Ana, Chalice, and Kaka dominated both games. Good to see that Ana adjusted well with RNG. Here's hoping to see him come back as pro again and not just as a stand-in.

Dark Horses of Dota Major : NaVi , EG , Aster , VP

Favorites : PSG.LGD , OG , Fnatic , Liquid

Flukes : Tundra , Soniqs , Boom

Zone grey : Team.Spirit

This is the conclusion I've been up to after first 2 days of Major. Today should be a very good day of Dota 2.

LGD is still at the top after they decimate Team Liquid. They are still perfect score 8-0 in the standing. What team do you think can give the first loss for LGD?

OG seems off in this tournament. They still have not won a match. It is either a draw or a loss.
1691  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: August 06, 2022, 04:51:48 PM
...

I will go for 2,000 SMB to win the championship.

It would be nice if the amount will increase as I could go as high as Php7000, so the total bet for the team will be Php10,000.

It would be nice to raise the total bet to 10k but it will depend if there are more players willing to bet. Let's see until tomorrow since we still have almost a day before the deadline.

It also depends on Harizen if he wants to adjust or fill up the gap.

I also got confused after checking the handicap between these two teams, after Magnolia wins game 2 I'm in the impression that the close gap will continue only to find out that now TNT have a huge handicap to give for Magnolia, maybe you are right, there's someone from Magnolia that might be reported in the injury list.

Or on the other-hand, it's another guessing game whether TNT will bounce back strong and cover that handicap.

Hard to assume since Magnolia is also unpredictable in terms of winning the game.

I am also expecting a bounce back from TNT but maybe not that large lead. I am expecting a close game as well. Maybe it is good to take magnolia if TNT has this large of handicap.
1692  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 06, 2022, 03:51:27 PM
The source is saying that Lebron is likely to extend with Lakers for two more years soon. I have been wondering if he would leave the team if they don't make the changes he would like to be more successful. For example, they are still keeping Westbrook in the team which is not a thing that I like. But as long as Lebron doesn't get an offer from a much more favorable team it looks like he is staying.

By the way Lebron's main goal now is to play with his son as it is added in the source as well. He wants to play one season with his son and retire after that.

( The source : https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10044509-lebron-james-rumors-all-signs-point-toward-lakers-star-signing-contract-extension )

This was mentioned many times before in social media and sports news. Whoever takes Bronny in their team, Lebron will play in there. So if Lebron is willing to extend for two years in Lakers, it might be an indication that they might take Bronny when the time comes. Bronny plans to be eligible for 2024 NBA draft.

I also think that it is a good thing that he should end his career in LA. And if he can give them another championship, then maybe they can retire his jersey in LA as well. That could be a good way to end an stellar NBA career.
1693  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 06, 2022, 11:24:38 AM

I might disagree with your idea that the Chicago Bulls roster is already can consider a championship team.

They have a good run last season, surprising everyone with their good chemistry right at the start of the season but began to show inconsistency during the last phase of the season. I am positive about this young team but believe me, even if they stay healthy last season, their chance to advance to Finals is really slim. They will soon get their own recognition but not at that time.

Not just to stay healthy but the Bulls need to build a second squad that can consistently assist their main core, especially in the event of continuous injuries. They are already composed of good role players and what they need to do is to add some more.

There are lots of precious role players that are just there waiting to be utilized properly by a team.

I agree. They look good during regular season, but they fall off during playoffs. Considering they have low winning percentage against top team, they still have lots of building to do to be considered a championship team. They are on the right track though. Maybe a year or two and a few key players will do the trick. Let's watch out how they will fare this season.

DeRozan is having his best season with the Chicago Bulls, he will continue next season, with the experience they had last season, they will be more mature and maybe they are not a championship team but who knows a surprise might happen. Remember when the Raptors won a championship, they are not a championship team but they beat the Warriors.
The raptors got lucky. They had a lucky shot against the sixers on their game seven and they play against injury-riddled Warriors in the finals. They have persistent and their teams are veterans with Kawhi leading the team. You cannot say that to the Bulls team.

PSG.LGD VS OG
I did not expect LGD to make easy work on OG. I thought OG can get at least a map from LGD but alas, OG lost 0-2. Unfortunately for me, my handicap bet did not work.
LGD proving to be very strong not dropping a game yet.

EG with one of the most surreal game 1 wins in the tournament so far. WTF was that at the end?? 🤣 RTZ was great, Nightfall was amazing literally carrying the whole team, cr1t was useless, but still, that was a massive throw from Spirit

anyway, currently in the waiting room, . edit* beastcoast, from not winning a single game in the last two series to taking a game from BOOM today... ok  Roll Eyes

It does feel like a throw. Team Spirit does not have any business engaging EG on the high ground without buybacks. That or they underestimated EG since they have a very large lead, and they are not expecting a double black hole.

1696  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 05, 2022, 02:44:14 PM
It is expected that Chet will have some struggles at first while adapting to the plays in the NBA because it's a lot different compared to the NCAA, the court is somehow the same but the 3-point line had some differences but the largest difference is that the NBA players are not like the players of NCAA. Chet will adapt just like fine, he just have to endure the likes of Giannis, AD or anyone in the center to pick up some experience along the way.

It is not just the players, it is also the schedule of the games. There are lots of back-to-back games and a lot of traveling. It takes a lot of tolls physically on new players. I expect him to perform but it will still take a lot of adjustment on his part especially when they are on the road. Discipline will take a big factor if he will be successful in NBA. Hard work trumps talent most of the time.

1697  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: August 05, 2022, 02:30:34 PM
Since TNT and SMB won their respective Game 1, let's push this.

If anyone still wants to bet on Meralco or Magnolia despite losing Game 1, you can still participate guys. Cut-off 5 minutes before Game 2 starts.

Should I list you now both for SMB? I think many wants to bet on SMB here too that wanted a share of the bet.

You can list me down, 1K for SMB.

Since both series are tied at 1-1, maybe you can still extend the cut-off time til the next game. Perhaps fans of Magnolia and Meralco want to throw some bets on them. They show good plays in their games earlier.

And for SmB and meralco bolts maybe SMB will take the game 3.

We will see. Meralco thrown all their big man to June Mar to the point that all of them are in foul trouble. We will see what adjustment they will make in the next game. I see this will be a close game from here on out.

Less than an hour before Arlington Major kicks off. We have some interesting matches today but for my bets, I am going for the safe side.

Fnatic vs OG
OG 1.5 odds
This is easy. Since 3 of their members are stand-ins, I think it is safe to bet that OG will win this match up. OG at 1.5 odds is quite low but since it is quite a safe bet, I'll take it.

PSG.LGD vs Talon Esports
LGD 1.36 odds
PSG.LGD finished strong  in their last tournament winning the championship in Riyadh Masters. I expect them to show the same strength in this tournament as well.

Outsiders vs RNG
RNG Map Handicap +1.5 1.36
I just want to watch this match up since Ana is a stand-in RNG. So I am placing a bet on handicap just to keep it exciting while watching. Just want to see how will Ana do as stand-in in RNG.

Good luck everyone.
1699  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: August 04, 2022, 12:48:30 PM
Betting lines are out for game 2.

SMB -5.5 vs Bolts +5.5

Hotshots +2.5 vs TNT -2.5

With this kind of odds, I'm staying away on the Bolts but would rather put my bet on Hotshots ML.
What are your thoughts on the games tomorrow?

I can take the Bolts +5.5, I think that is a good odds even if when the first game was lopsided. I believe Bolts will make the necessary adjustments to beat SMB in their matchup tomorrow.

The same can be said with the Hotshots. I do not believe they will lose 2 games in a row.

This can be risky bets but I can take it. Good luck to your bets.
1700  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 04, 2022, 09:06:37 AM
Which of these players do you think will find a new home before the season starts?
My picks are Demarcus Cousins and Dennis Schroder.
Cousins made a big effort during the Nuggets' run and produced good numbers and I think that's the first team that should sign him.
Schroder is young. Can be rebuilt and might make a career leading the bench team.

Wow, can't believe Schroder does not have a contract yet. He was performing really well back in Oklahoma. Did his level of playing dropped that significantly after Lakers? He is too young to belong in that group. Hope he gets a contract and prove himself once again.

he will always be remember since he turned down a huge amount of money thinking that his value is more than that

only to end up signing for a lesser contract. It's an upset because after that Lakers huge offer no one gives him any closer to
what Lakers ask him to sign for his extension, he got the talent but with how rookies are showing now, teams are more interested
with young guns who can play and improve for a longer period, but we can't close the book. All those mentioned names are still
a good pick for a role player's job.

He is still very young and can ball. I do not know why no one is picking him up. If it is just the rookie, he is probably better and he is proven to be effective.
