New round!

Round 28 goes to 109,300.  Correct?

Re http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=another_thing_i_dont_understand

It is likely the number of outputs (of previous transactions) needed to be combined to make the complicated number that pushes it over a 1k-bytes transaction-size itself that does it.

Places sending tiny amounts might be sending many people a tiny amount all in one huge transaction to minimise the amount of transaction fee per recipient by averaging the fee over the many recipients they pay with one single multi-output transaction.

-MarkM-

Is there a way to send a single multi output transaction using a regular wallet?

I am still not showing up on the receiver files!

Edit: As the round has just ended, will I not receive anything this month since I was not on the file?  Or will it be able to be edited.

Thank you for reviewing this!  Smiley

The round ends at 105,300 so as of now there are still 73 blocks remaining.  But with the way the payout schedule works, it allows time to fix errors and so forth, so if something is not working right, there's definitely the opportunity to get that fixed before it's time to receive the generated shares.  You just want to stay on top of it.

Today I actually have time to devote to writing, so like a lot of Devtome writers I'm trying to squeeze in a few more shares before the round closes.  As I'm doing this, I came up with an idea that I thought was worth sharing.  What do you all think?

http://devtome.com/doku.php?id=the_closing_of_the_round_intensity

I would be interested in that!

Awesome Smiley

..
That could explain why the number of shares is so low even though this round is about to end.  Devtome people, please consider this a bug report Smiley

I ran it for you just now and the weighted word count is 102,117 words, roughly 15,000 extra words. The earnings at Emfox's site are redone every day, so it should eventually see them. I don't know what that will be after the earnings multiplier, but for you it should be more than 15 shares.

I'm still seeing the same 11 shares on my word count, though I'm noticing that the files are updating as the overall numbers are changing.  I suppose it's possible my own counts are off, but I am pretty sure that I added at least one or two shares' worth after I saw 11 by my ID.  I added more articles today, so I would definitely expect my word count to update soon.  For this round I will go back over everything I've published and manually add up the number of words myself, then let you know what I think my share count (based on Devtome contributions, not any other sources) should be once the round formally closes.  Should I PM you with that info or post it in this thread?  I'm just wondering if there's some sort of bug with the way the script is reading my invoice?

EDIT:  Another odd thing I'm noticing is that it seems to be taking way longer than ten minutes per block.  Has the mining difficulty dramatically increased in the last 36 hours?

In case some of our authors don't follow the Project Development part of these forums, I thought I'd bring this to their attention:

-MarkM-

Yeah, I saw that elsewhere too. The guy is offering $3 or so for 600+ words and light research. That's so ridiculously low I wouldn't even consider it.

That thought crossed my mind too, actually.  I probably would consider it if it weren't for the fact that I can earn a whole lot more writing *whatever I want* for the Devtome.  Among other things, the Devtome could turn out to be a nice pricing standard for writers' compensation Smiley

EDIT:  Regardless of the pay it could be a good opportunity for a writer to gain more exposure and that's the part I find appealing.  Honestly, the main reason I am very hesitant to jump on this now is because I don't believe I have the time to read a lot of posts on the forum and then write about them at this time in my life.  Writing for the Devtome is actually a really good fit for me right now Smiley

I've been looking at the round 27 CSV file too, and it looks like for some reason the last 3-4,000 words I submitted aren't being picked up by the script.  I haven't done anything different on my end.  I submitted my most recent article several days ago and still my word count hasn't changed from what it was before I submitted.  Anyone know why?  I did check to make sure I added those articles to my invoice.

I don't think the script has been picking up my words either!  I am not even shown on it!   Huh

I joined back in the writing about 4 days ago, and mine hasn't either. I think they are waiting to run the final script.

I think it's supposed to update daily, but I get the impression there are several things that update at different times so it often takes a few days to sync everything.  Still, it's been longer than in my past experience.

Welcome back :-)

You can already trade devcoin denominated stocks on vircurex, what more is required?

How/where on Vircurex?

I have Vircurex open all the time, usually on the DVC/BTC page, but looking at all the links I can click from there I do not see anything about shares?

There are of course some dDVC-denominated assets on the Digitalis Open Transactions server, which seem to have been doing okay:

I'm sure UnthinkingBit meant Cryptostocks, which is run by the same group that runs Vircurex.  Thanks for the heads up about other DVC-denominated assets.  I will definitely check them out.  So far the only ones I've known about are the ones on Cryptostocks.
1751  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Business Bounty on: September 05, 2013, 01:50:53 AM

There are already is one, although it's small:
http://devtome.com/doku.php?id=devcoin_bounty_now#non_mining_business

So it includes having a security associated with it?
..
If this idea takes off and a bunch of people do this, then it would also be worth someone setting up a DVC trading platform that is just like BTCT.co (maybe the creators would share their script?).

I think you meant to say Cryptostocks, and you are right.  I just really prefer the BTCT.co setup.  It's cleaner, has far fewer glitches, keeps better records, has a nicer layout...  I'd love to see something like that just for DVC securities.  In the mean time I do use Cryptostocks for all my DVC investments.
1752  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: September 04, 2013, 03:33:47 AM
UnthinkingBit,

Would you consider a bounty for someone who sets up a solid business (and I like non-mining too Smiley ) and also creates a DVC-denominated security so that people can invest in their venture?

I'm not looking to get the bounty if it's offered, but I would like to buy a greater variety of DVC-denominated stocks.

1754  Economy / Lending / Re: CoinLenders :: Get bitcoin loans, and get fee rebates on your deposits! on: August 24, 2013, 04:31:05 AM
Essentially it works like this:

You can speak to up to 5 people at once before your brain explodes from overload. Someone wants to "attack" you so they send out 10,000 people. Now you can't talk to even the first five because of the overload, so you freeze up and become non-responsive.

In the analogy, the server is the person speaking to people and the people are packets (being sent by visitors).

Ranlo, you are AWESOME.  Thanks!

UDP flood attack, > 150,000 packets/s. Host is working on migrating it, we do have DB backups and can move host if it is unresolved soon.

I still don't quite understand this--I'm very nontechnical.  But I'm glad that you know what's going on, have good back-ups, and are working to resolve the problem Smiley  I finally invested my first Bitcoin three days ago and have enjoyed watching my balance grow.  Looking forward to being able to get back to my new hobby Smiley

Is site getting DDOSed?  It's taking forever to load, but all other sites are loading just fine.
Host is currently facing a mass UDP attack. CL was not targeted but we are affected by the downtime too - switch overloaded

What exactly is a mass UDP attack?  And is there any way of estimating when the site will be back up?

Finally my millions showed up Wink  same day, just a few hours late. I bet I'll get some email from vircurex too.

I was having this problem too.  There were three DVC deposits from yesterday and early this morning which were not showing up in my Vircurex account, but I could see them on the Block chain.  When I saw this post I logged in just now and noted that the funds were finally in.

I too had sent off a PM to Kumala.  I haven't gotten any response, but if the situation is resolved I'm fine with that.  I bet he was flooded with such support requests.

I decided to make another deposit and I'll check later on to see if it made it through OK.  Hopefully everything is working as it should.

My experience with the Vircurex folks is that when there is a problem they get on it right away to make it right.  I really appreciate that Smiley

UPDATE:  The deposit I just made is now showing up in the "incoming funds" section with 0/6 confirmations, just like what I'd expect.  I think it's safe to say the site is back to running as it should.  YAY!
