1381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NOTE]DNotes - DNotesVault Now Open for Registration! on: January 03, 2015, 01:47:56 AM
I just found out about the D-notes vault and the CR.I.S.P for children, so I got all set up with that. I've been watching D-Notes for quite some time, and I don't know how you do it, but so far it has delivered on stability and appreciation. Now I'm going to be making a significant effort to acquire and hold onto D-Notes. The D-Notes vault will make that much easier to do Smiley Hope 2015 is a great year for D-Notes!

Closing in on a year. Cheesy  What's up with this?

Well you know - Just too many lazy stakeholders (don't mean you or anytone in particular) that didn't feel like testing during the alpha which is why we had more bugs than expected during beta which is why implementation of multi-sig is taking longer.

That's whats up.

Patmast3r please don't feel disillusioned by the tone of this thread. Myself and the majority of silent stakeholders / NEM holders fully support your work and understand how much work it is to actually code a new cryptocurrency from scratch.

+1440 to that. As one of the lazy stakeholders, I say take all the time you need. I may occasionally ask a question about timetables if it seems appropriate, but you won't hear any complaints about delays from me. I would much rather it come out good from the beginning, and I would especially prefer to not go through nearly as many wallet failures and updates as I did with NXT in its first year. If it takes an extra couple months or more to have a stable wallet and network from the beginning I say it's well worth the wait.

Happy New Year, NEMyone!

Looking forward to great things from the NEM quarter in 2015 Smiley

if anyone wants to set up a nem node, it just got easier. Smiley

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxFhJV-xMNw&feature=youtube_gdata_player

that music was the best of a bad bunch lol

could someone who has zero knowledge of linux and setting up nodes in general other than downloading a client locally give this a go and tell me if theres any part that you get stuck on or find confusing? i want it to be as straight forward as possible so anyone can do it irrespective of technical skill level.

This may be a dumb question, but... do you need to be running the Linux OS to do this? Or, could you do it on Windows?

you can do it on Windows but if you want to use a Windows server it generally costs a minimum of 3 Times more. 5 dollars per month is ok.. 15 not so much. Also it's a phenomenal pain in the ass to modify port settings and do basically everything else too. At least that was my experience.

One other question: Could this be done with a Raspberry pi? If so, then I will look into it further Smiley
yes I can but I havnt a clue how that would be done lol

By the way.. That server provider, vultr.com, accepts bitcoin.

OK, well I will look into it and perhaps experiment. I'll watch the video. Thanks for the help.

OK, putting party pooper hat on. Let's keep this clean of any association with selling sex. That would seriously turn off a lot of people. I'd like to see NEM become something people would pay their kids' allowances in--in other words, household name and use. That won't happen if it gets dirty. Let's have fun, but keep it clean, NEM-clean Smiley

These nem puns are catching on lol starting to look like a more understandable dogecoin thread Cheesy

Very PUNishing indeed...

But better limit them somewhat or it will quickly reach the point of diNEMishing returns Wink

Didn't you mean to say you're getting NEMpatient? Wink

Looking forward to launch, NEMever it is...

Just because some of the people are asking for NEM to be launch doesn't mean they want to dump.
I mean this whole equality thing is bs anyways. You got whales buying up stakes in AE.
so I can see them dumping when NEM launch. I think almost a year is plenty of time for DEVS. I guess we need more info on where
the we are in terms Development . Keeps on getting postponed. Im an NEM supporter but Im just getting impatient I guess Smiley
other than that DOOOO YOOO Thang DEVS Smiley

Bitcoin genesis block was mined on Jan. 3 2009. Maybe launch on the anniversary?

That's a neat idea Smiley

I like this idea too, but that's just three weeks away.

Just to add to the collection of fun NEM puns, here's one I just thought of: I'm getting a bit NEMpatient for the coin to launch Wink

It'll take all your NEMliness to overcome your NEMpatience at the wait for the NEMolution of the NEMoletariat.

Nice Smiley The NEM puns add some flair to this movement (moveNEMt).

Is anyone planning on running a forging pool (or whatever the equivalent action for NEM will be)? If so, I would be a very interested potential customer. Anyone working on this, feel free to message me with information.

i pushed and pushed to have one built months ago(was going to try find a dev and raise funding from "pro-pool" donations) but the community was split 50/50 on whether to do it or not so i let it go.. to this day no one has really brought it up or offered to build one. im sure someone will build one after launch but it will only happen if it is independently built.

I suspect someone will come up with one eventually. I just wanted to alert whoever it is that I'd like to know how to join it once it exists Smiley I figure that until people issue high quality assets on the NEM AE, forging is going to be the best way to use the balance in the first few months. I just don't want to be doing the forging myself.

It's been a while. Is Nem launching soon?
Early December, we hope !!!

We hope yes. If not then not. I'm not too worried about WHEN we launch. For me it's important HOW we launch. Launching a stable network that is absoutely bullet-proof and well tested is much more important to me than launching next month or even this year.
Only few coins that have released recently have been written from scratch and they are facing serious issues. I don't know how Crypti is doing but NODE had some outages recently...again. This can't and won't happen to us because we won't release until we're absolutely ready for it.
I don't mean to say we're taking things slow - hell no. We're going as fast as possible but as slow as neccessary. People will be able to be confident in our software and network from day 1 and that is worth a lot more than launching before some imaginary deadline.

Other things - beside devlopment - also take time but as xtester said those things will be announce soon Smiley

Agree with pat and rockethead. Quality is our primary goal so we are speeding as much as possible toward that. Though as we all know, quality takes time, a lot of time. At the end of the day our dev team is prepared to invest more time than give up on quality, and NEM is very different because of that. Wink

I agree. I'd rather have to wait a few more months if it means having everything working right from the start, including the added features. I was an early adopter of NXT and I have already lost track of how many times the wallet client quit working on me and I had to do an update by some block that was found yesterday, then download the whole block chain all over again (doing that now, as a matter of fact). It seems each time a feature is added to the platform it requires a wallet update. I understand NEM will probably require wallet updates from time to time, but it would sure be nice if they could be limited to once or twice a year. I'd love to be able to just use NEM without having to think about how the wallet works too much Smiley

Not that I'm complaining about NXT, or anything. It was a foundational currency and I knew that even with the technical difficulties I was making history by being part of it. I'm just not too keen on repeating some of that history Wink

Anyway, I'm really excited about NEM's upcoming launch and being a part of that... whenever it happens. Looking forward to the announcements on Sunday.

How do you lease for forging using the new MoFo wallet?

Also, for solo forging, if I close the forging window by clicking on the "cancel" button, will I still be forging at that point? Or do I have to leave the forging window open all the time? If so, that would mean I can't do anything else with my wallet during forging.

Edit: I got my questions answered by poking around the Fimk forum. You have to use the original (though with mandatory upgrade) browser version to be able to lease your balance for forging. The MoFo wallet is nice for the ability to quickly check balances and send funds (without having to download the block chain or run the java program), but I wouldn't trust it with forging at this point--I'm not entirely sure the forging is functional in MoFo. I also agree with some of the others on the forum, that for English speakers the choice of name is unfortunate.

FIM-7H5M-BMAN-4NVC-82J2S only has 100K FIM, why has forged in No. 3 for a few days?
Because of leased balance of other accounts.

I didn't think you could use the lease function with FIM?

1398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BCX.... ()==[:::::::::::::> << BATTLECOIN >> ︻╦╤─ - - Official thread on: November 21, 2014, 12:21:08 AM
How do you lend your forging to someone else with NXT? I'd like to know. Feel free to PM me so as not to hijack this thread.

Personally, I recommend hashrate.org instead of Battlecoin.

It automatically mines for smaller cryptos, dumps them on the market and buys Nxt with them then transfers them into your Nxt wallet.  If you see the potential that POS has, it helps you put your old mining equipment to use accumulating POS coins.  Either way, helps hedge your bets regarding POS vs POW.

My money's mostly on Nxt.. best POS algorithm and will soon be 90% attack resistant.. and that's a proof of stake attack, not a proof of work attack.  Which means barely any energy is needed (Bitcoin uses more than facebook.. Nxt uses approximately 20,000 times less energy.. which translates to lower transaction fees.. which translates to more customers).  Keep in mind that Bitcoin is currently recommending a $0.50 transaction fee to make miners profitable.. they are just all mining at a loss figuring that once Bitcoin takes off that will become profit.

With Nxt, you invest as much as you'd invest into a miner into Nxt itself and you are instantly profitable.  Add in the leased forging where you lend your forging power to someone else and suddenly even customers who have $20 worth of Nxt sitting in their Nxt account can generate interest over time.  Not to mention that

Trust me.. I've researched POW and Nxt.. Nxt is going to be huge someday and everyone will be wishing they'd gotten in on it like they wish they'd bought Bitcoin early.

What is being done to get Fimk on an exchange other than DGEX? I'd like to have more trading options. Thanks.
