Cryptzo,

I would be completely supportive of you moving this to a self-moderated thread. A few people on this thread have greatly reduced the quality of the thread itself with their poor quality posts. This thread is evidence enough that you tried.

Thanks Smiley

Yeah, don't forget to delete the OP too.  Cheesy

Even negative posters are helpful in keeping the discussion going Smiley

The negative posters who have brought up genuine concerns and questions and who have stuck to the issues, yes. The people just spewing negativity have added nothing helpful in my opinion.
1422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEED] SeedCoin | 10/11 MANDATORY UPDATE on: October 17, 2014, 02:40:13 PM
I started with 2 seed and went through the drudgery of updates and am expecting to end up with a little over 15,000 which includes a rebuy of 25 and 520 along the way.  no idea if the interest math worked out overall, but I'm in for 0.478 which puts me at a slight loss at the 'current price' per the block explorer.  Overall, the fact the dev didn't bail on this like I've seen so many do in the past makes this a sort of win...but the market price going in to the weekend will tell the tale

Interesting. I will make a short list to see what outcomes are.
  • Dirtyboots - invested 0.478 btc - got 15000 SEED
  • JonesD - invested 0.1 BTC - got 2050 SEED

Numbers mean more than opinions. More people with numbers?

Maybe wait until the end of growth period, but good idea Smiley
1423  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEED] SeedCoin | 10/11 MANDATORY UPDATE on: October 17, 2014, 01:50:33 PM
actually - it takes balls to complain pal  and if you mined on my pools you'd know that I stand up for myself and my miners and I don't take shit from anyone.

I've been around here for a long time. Your infantile response doesn't surprise because again you fail to understand the point of my complaint which is simple so since you apparently have the reading comprehension of a 5th grader so I'll spell it out again.

the VALUE of the coin is irrelevant to me and has nothing to do with my complaint. I've said that over and over - my complaint is that the staking process is flawed and I did not get the number of coins promised in the OP - it's as simple as that - you must be a democrat because instead of responding to my complaint youo attempt to change the subject and call me a 'noob' and somehow infer that I'm concerned about losing money - I knew the risk when I invested because I've invested in lots of other coins....my complaint is that the staking process did not work as promised in the OP.

it's as simple as that. I've tried not to use big words that you might now understand.

I mined on your pool and was very happy with the way the pool ran. You were quick to address issues and it's really great to have you on chat also. I am planning to mine on more of your pools in the future. I've noticed you are already set up for Echo, which I may be mining next week Smiley

With that said, SEED was my very first Scrypt staking coin, and I've done OK with it. I think about a third to a half of my coins will get in that final stake so I'll come up short of what the initial calculations indicated. In retrospect (taking into account the learning) curve, I can see a few things I would have done differently based on what I now know which would have increased the number of coins in my wallet at the end of growth period.

I think the accusations that the staking didn't work as advertised are exaggerated, though. I followed the thread here and kept up with the updates, and took some of the advice given here (including combining coins into larger chunks about midway through the growth process). It's worked out for me, and all I did was follow directions. I didn't have any extra interaction with the Dev beyond this thread. I did have some experience with a previous coin which I believe helped me out a lot here, but other than that I had the same resources everyone else here had. My best guess is that there are technical explanations for all the various issues people had, and that those aren't necessarily due to anything wrong the developer did. From what I could see here, he did encounter some mistakes he'd made, was forthright about it and fixed them very quickly. In retrospect he might have done some things differently too, I suppose, but all in all, I think he did a great job.

As @wiser  suggested me to add SeedCoin to BTC-Market, now it was added and wallet is synced.

Ready to trade https://btc-market.org/?Pair=SEED_BTC

Thank you very much Smiley We are still in growth period, but after ten hours or so more people may want to trade.

Great opportunity for C-CEX to pick this up

c-cex, coinswap... something

I just messaged BTC-Market and asked them to pick it up. I have had positive response to other coins I've asked them to pick up--at least the Scrypt coins. They have a BTT profile, so maybe a couple other people want to message them requesting the addition of SEED. I bet they'll pick it up and while it's not at the stature of BitTrex, at least it's an exchange. If they wait 21 hours or so to do it, they shouldn't run into the growth period related technical difficulties that BitTrex has had all week.
1427  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEED] SeedCoin | 10/11 MANDATORY UPDATE on: October 15, 2014, 05:09:47 PM
I placed a buy wall at 0.00000001 BTC. I can assure you price want fall below that on BTC market.
you are a totally jack a leg no one with common sense is going to sell for that price heck anyone with common sense should not not sell for less then 0.001 btc per coin

And we all should hang on every word misocialnetwork says because she has been involved in cryptocurrency for way longer than all the rest of us noobs here (8 years!): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=782154.msg8905120#msg8905120
1428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEED] SeedCoin | 10/11 MANDATORY UPDATE on: October 15, 2014, 05:29:37 AM
He just realized that there may be a very little amount of total coins. Also a couple of the big wallets im sure will hold so the number of tradable coins will be even fewer. That along with the fact that a bunch of people will dump after day seven could be used for profit. The dumping will drive the price to shit, so there may be some really cheap coins to be had.  He is planning on buying the dump.

So we now have a motive for all this FUD?

Run the coin into the ground, then buy on the low. Hope it works out for him Wink
1429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEED] SeedCoin | 10/11 MANDATORY UPDATE on: October 15, 2014, 05:09:53 AM
Barabas, can you give me a few lines to explain market cap and why being so low is good short term? i am asking not to be a smart ass, i am really trying to learn as much as i can

Beef

Market cap is the total number of coins multiplied by the price per coin.
1430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEED] SeedCoin | 10/11 MANDATORY UPDATE on: October 15, 2014, 03:35:14 AM
The amount of FUD on this thread is getting ridiculous.

My observation is that the FUD is coming from people who lost staking time due to forks, etc. and won't have their wallet as full as their initial calculations indicate. Then they are looking at the current BitTrex price which is literally all over the place. Then they're whining about how much money they supposedly lost.

They're saying the coin was rigged from the start, and that only the "insiders" who knew about the "conspiracy" are profiting. Seriously?

It's true that in order to have survived the first few days of growth staking you needed to pay close attention to this thread and update your wallet accordingly. There were a number of strategies openly discussed right here, and each individual pretty much had to pick a plan and stick with it as you couldn't really run all the strategies simultaneously.

For the most part, though, you just let your coins stake and they do. It's working just fine, other than the fact that staking rewards are starting to drag out making me wonder if all my coins will stake that magical 7th time. But even with that a strategy to mitigate that was suggested and people are free to follow it or not as they choose.

Technical difficulties happen. I know they haven't affected everyone equally, but it has been possible for people to update their wallets and get them staking properly. I'm not that technically oriented and I was able to do it just fine. However I also came with a fair amount of experience from having gone through a ton of wallet updates in a short time on a different coin. I made all kinds of mistakes on that other coin and will be lucky if I ever get my initial investment back out. But the experience served me well here and I have every expectation of recovering my initial investment and then some. The main thing is to not be in too much of a hurry to do so. And if it didn't work out so well for you, at the very least you have gained a lot of experience and knowledge which will be a tremendous help to you the next time around--if you let it.

People who are whining and moaning are not just annoying. They are actually completely shooting themselves in the foot because all the complaining is interfering with their ability to see the opportunities not only here but in the cryptosphere in general.

I've been involved in the Cryptosphere for close to 20 months now. Within the first month I got bilked out of my entire supply of 0.55 BTC that I'd accumulated in a scam which now would be so obvious to me that I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. But back then I had no clue, and I paid the price. It was a hard lesson, but I learned it. Later on I lost close to $4000 worth of BTC when Inputs/CoinLenders got hacked and went belly up. That was a big ouch too. But despite those losses, I also managed to pull out more than that in profits, much of which went to better my life, and some of which went to investments in mining hardware so I could get involved that way. But in any case it's been like that from day one. You win some; you lose some. I realized that you really can't get too emotional about it, or you completely miss out. I have chatted with day traders who have won or lost thousands in a matter of minutes. When you win it's great, and I say always take profits when you do. When you lose it's a bummer, but you can't waste time or energy beating yourself up or complaining about how the system was rigged against you or trolling threads. You just have to ponder what happened and milk the experience for all its worth in terms of what you can learn from it. Since the crypto world is so fast paced you really don't want to waste any experience (be it success or failure) for its opportunity to educate you.

If you do, you are basically setting yourself up for the next failure. All the time you waste complaining and trolling threads is time not spent going back over your recent experiences and gleaning every possible lesson from it so that the next go round you can be successful.

You whiners, complainers and trolls, know this. You are only hurting yourselves. Every bit of energy you waste trolling is energy not spent in bettering yourself. The rest of us are annoyed, but not greatly impacted one way or another. In other words, we don't take you seriously. Most of you are on my ignore list for one reason only--you've used many words to say nothing of value.

This coin is not a scam. I've seen scams and the scammers behave very differently than what we've seen from the dev here. The SEED coin could turn out to be a bad investment, but that is different from a scam. Anyone calling this a scam is only demonstrating how little discernment they have. If you can't tell the difference between a scam and an honest venture which may or may not bear fruit, then you are going to get burned over and over again. And you'll whine and complain on thread after thread and you'll get nowhere and just annoy a lot of people. Don't you want something better? Why not break the cycle now? Stop spewing, listen and learn.
1431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEED] SeedCoin | 10/11 MANDATORY UPDATE on: October 15, 2014, 02:53:32 AM
People go back and re read the whole ANN the OP posted on page 1 so far everything that has happened with this coin is posted there for you to read before you get involved.. These fudders coming in here all negative and hateful are really people that probably dumped a huge amount of investment coin into this project, but now they are realizing wow.. this isn't going as "I" planned.. LOL .. anybody listening to those 2 trolls are really really naïve and not too bright. If you cant comprehend what you read, stay out of crypto.  Things are never how they appear. BTw , I mine coins nothing more.

+1

Anyone that FUDS a coin for 110+ pages has to have an ulterior motive. Or is a bit simple in their way of life. I expect an ulterior motive though.

I've given up on trying to equalise the FUD and now trying to actively look at solutions Smiley

Beefie - I love your enthusiasm for cross promotion but if the Dev gets involved in anything pot related I will categorically dump all my coins for the first offer. It's not something I can follow in for the future of this coin. Not saying it's not an option, and if it works then great - but I'm out :/ And I don't want to be out Tongue

(I have a bad history with pot. I'm like the anti-pot police lol)

+1

I have NO interest in tying this coin to pot. I have no judgment on those who in any way are involved with actual pot. It's just not something I have any interest in getting involved with myself.

See?

This is a Dev I can get behind and fight tooth and nail for.

You don't come across many people with this amount of drive and passion for their product. It's people like this that get shit done.

Don't sweat it dude - I'll still be fighting your corner. It's just shit that some people expect so much in a very little space of time. It takes time to make a project work! Rome wasn't built in a day, the Universe wasn't created in 7 and so on Smiley

Chillax people, I expect great things from this coin Smiley

... except for one thing. How am I supposed to get my low ball buy order filled when the dev keeps showing up and actually cares about the coin's future? Wink

your order will be filled in 12 hours Wink

That won't work for my staking plans. Has to fill in a few hours or I'll either drop it further or cancel it. C'mon, where are the FUDers when you need 'em?

EDIT: Oh wait, they're on my ignore list. Oh well, carry on...
]

did your order fill? I got mine Smiley

Not yet, but we're close...

I think it's time to unignore barabbas. LOL

Actually, would the FUDers here mind running it down just a tad more, please? I've got a low ball buy order that I'm hoping will fill in time to stake four times. That means it has to fill within a few hours. C'mon, do your magic Wink

So I couldn't tell from the posts, is it now safe to stake with greater than 1 coin? i'm seeing a lot of stakes go through with https://chainz.cryptoid.info/seed/#. Are they on the correct blockchain now?

I tried the getblock command cryptzo posted earlier and it checked out so I should be synced, and i'm on the same block count as cryptoid.

I've been staking on v. 5 for several hours and it seems to be working fine. My rewards may be a bit on the low side but they seem reasonably close to what I would expect.

You could also wait another 36 minutes. The fix goes into effect at that time.
1437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEED] SeedCoin | 10/11 MANDATORY UPDATE on: October 12, 2014, 03:22:19 AM

Has your wallet completely synced yet?

Hey missocialnetwork, great to see you here Smiley

You got good instructions for syncing your wallet. Hope it works well for you.
1439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEED] SeedCoin | 10/11 MANDATORY UPDATE on: October 11, 2014, 11:33:18 PM
So what now? I have to wait till countdown runs out to MAYBE get in 2 stakes?

This is only the second day of growth staking, so you still have five days left. Just update to version 5 and either start staking now or wait until the countdown runs out (there are pros and cons either way).
1440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEED] SeedCoin | 10/11 MANDATORY UPDATE on: October 11, 2014, 10:41:25 PM
I have 4 blocks at about 1.87 seed that have 1158-1159 confirmations.  Would it be better to let them stake now or wait till 5 am UTC to let them stake?  I still have the reserve set.

The really important determining factor is the age of the coins. They won't stake until they are 24 hours old regardless of confirmation numbers. My wallet is staking now (I have a couple blocks up that are close enough to 1 that it's not worth worrying about. They've been staking for at least an hour but haven't yet gotten their reward. If your oldest blocks reach maturity within an hour or two of the counter running out, they may still successfully stake right after the fix takes effect. If they stake before the fix takes effect then you won't get the full 267 percent. The risk of holding off on staking until after the counter runs out is that you might not get your last growth stake in. Your call Smiley

So will blocks above 1 stake properly now or do we have to wait for the count down?

The fix takes effect after the countdown runs out.

In the coin control they have a date that puts them just over 24h old

Then you have a decision to make. You should read over the post by Cryptzo explaining the stake now vs. stake later ramifications.
