DNotes seems to be on its way back up. I'm not sure what exactly happened to drop it to the 3 digits, but I'm sure glad I bought some on that dip.

The volume is still very low. So I won't not read too much into it. It does not take much for the price to shoot back up.

Good point. I wasn't paying much attention to volume. Maybe it was me that did it Wink

Still mining and holding but feeling a little under the weather when i see us go from an average of 5k sat to now sub 1k and falling... mining these is now just killing my power bill is there any thoughts on forking Dnotes to a pos system .. as i watch ETH moving to take bitcoins spot and give the top 1 percent the ability to take over the digital age of money its very disheartening. Bill Gates and there cronies shouldn't be able to run the new age monetary system.. sorry if i sound off ,but all i have done pretty much since dnotes came out was mine it so i kinda have pretty much all my eggs in one basket. I even got my dad on board for the last 10 months and now hes starting to come down on me so no pressure lol.

Thanks for all the hard work though everyone i know this isn't the outcome any of you have been looking for.  Lips sealed

It would stink to be mining DNotes right now if you have to sell some off to pay the power bill. Right now I'm sure it's way cheaper for you to just buy DNotes off the exchanges. Might want to turn your rigs off until the price gets better.

In the mean time, FANTASTIC DNotes buying opportunity. Working on a purchase order right now Smiley

Thanks for clarifying that up. I am still in shock.  Angry Shocked

You are in shock???

There were warning signs months ago!!! People were posting here, including me, warning everyone to get off cryptsy!!! You say you were away for 3 days? The warnings went out weeks and months ago, repeatedly!!! I even called cryptsy a MtGox Version 2!!! YES, I"M SHOUTING!!! THERE ARE SO MANY DEAF PEOPLE HERE!!!

Is it truly necessary to pile on?

No, it's not necessary. When I fell wounded on the ground, some of you came over and kicked me. Now, every chance I get, I rub it in. Especially on other idiots in bitcoinland.

I think you should rise above that. You don't have to sink to the level of those who run over and kick the wounded. Since that was done to you once, you know how it feels.

Surprised more aren't talking about replace by fee. One of the biggest advantages for digital currency is paying for digital products and micro transactions, with instant transfer of funds and instant delivery, where you will be able to only change the fee amount but the receiving address is a huge issue for me. 0 confirmation transactions are no longer feasible with this type of change as it raises the risk of fraudulent transactions. Not saying that 0 confirmation transactions were't risky, but there is a certain level of acceptable risk. They are heading down the steep road of reversible transactions...

You are absolutely correct. Non-reversible transaction upon confirmation and nearly zero transaction fees are among the most attractive features of using digital currency as a medium of exchange. Once those features are removed, mass acceptance of Bitcoin will not be achievable in a million years.

Do you think mass acceptance of another coin, such as DNotes, is in any way dependent on mass acceptance of Bitcoin? Or could it happen independently? I personally am putting my money on independent mass acceptance of other altcoins.

Mass acceptance of digital currency will not happen for another 5 to 10 years, and it is not dependent on Bitcoin being widely accepted as a medium of exchange. However, the digital currency that gained mass acceptance must be commonly used as a medium of exchange, meeting the full functions of money. Having said that, the success of Bitcoin is valuable in paving the way, creating the necessary ecosystem, like a Coinbase. As you correctly pointed, owners of Bitcoin ecosystem are business minded. They respond the best opportunities.

Currency stability is crucial as a medium of exchange in global commerce. For a variety of reasons DNotes is just as volatile as any other altcoin today. As it is, it's not a viable medium of exchange. In that sense, we are correct for not pushing DNotes as a form of payment.

Everything that we have been doing is to put DNotes on the best path to be a stable currency with reliable long term appreciation. We have plenty of work to do to make that happen. Once that is achieved DNotes will break out of the "sleeper mode" and get the attention of the likes of Coinbase. Until then, it is fine to fly below the radar.

As I have a whole bunch of DNotes currently locked up in various retirement accounts in the vault, five to ten more years of "flying below the radar" in anticipation of mass acceptance of digital currency is about perfect timing for me Smiley

Today's prices make for a fantastic buying opportunity, which I believe I will be taking advantage of in the next few days...

DNotes has been casting a very wide net. Frankly, our strategic positioning is not that easy to understand or appreciate.

I appreciate it--at least the part I do understand. I have not sold a DNote in at least six months. I'm in this for the long haul Smiley

Yeah, me too, actually. I really hope they pull through somehow... but realistically, I think the odds are higher in favor of bankruptcy.

There was one exchange which had some funds stolen a while back, and they recovered--it took them a while but they paid back all their customers' losses--and are back in business. A Chinese exchange called Vircurex. So recovery has happened before; it's just not the usual outcome.

This is not a problem when I withdraw DMD there was no warning about suspension, but I don't get any coin to my wallet, and I don't see any dmd on Cryptsy. This is Mintpal all over again.

The blog says that the pending withdrawals will be processed if one of two things happen: 1. Stolen funds are recovered. So far they have not moved from the address they were moved to, so recovery is theoretically possible at this point, or 2. someone buys Cryptsy and has the resources to cover the requests. If neither of these two things happen, Cryptsy will probably file for bankruptcy and it will be a long process for users to recover some percentage of their funds.

I think for now you should consider your funds to be lost.

Yes, i see that on a blog. I know for a long time that something is wrong with Cryptsy. But there are some big sell orders so I take advantage to buy some DMD. Last three days I was away and now I see this. I have over 5k DMD. I send them an email to support.

They have suspended all withdrawal requests until further notice.

Anyone having problems with Cryptsy and withdrawals of DMD. I found out about this all mess few days ago and I login to Cryptsy to withdraw all my DMD, still don't get any coin in my wallet, and on Cryptsy I don't have any DMD.

Here's why: http://blog.cryptsy.com/

Hey guys I know it's kind of off topic but I need a little help. Recently I accidentally clicked on a phishing link on reddit that led to bitcointalk and my autofill gave away my username and pw so my old bitcointalk account got hacked.

I didn't have any personal info on there, no priv keys or anything like that so I am not worried about losing my old account. But I don't know much about phishing attacks? Should I be worried about keeping wallets on my computer? I scanned AVG antivirus and malware bytes and they came up clean but im still worried......

Aside from that i'm getting a rasberry pi to hold my coins, does anyone know any good guides or tutorials that have been posted to help? I have never used a raspberry pi before =/...

Thanks guys any input is very much appreciated, long term DMD holder here.

wait a few months and a easy top install and configure

DiamondOS will be released with install guides how to install it on a raspberryPI2
(and later other similar hardware too)

it will be based on ROKOS who maintain such a thing already for bitcoin wallets

I think in the mean time, change your wallet passphrase to some kind of randomly generated phrase that you can copy/paste. I think that would keep keylogging malware at bay, but not sure.

Wow! Mike Hearn's piece caused quite the media firestorm!

There would be too much to quote here, this is a must read for everyone if you haven't come across it already, The resolution of the Bitcoin experiment by Mike Hearn. Fair warning, it is a bit disheartening to read but an important view point to consider from a former bitcoin core developer. Mike is clearly passionate and disappointed, even open source communities need good leadership that is not driven by greed and self interest.

I don't think the main point here is that Bitcoin will fail. It is very likely to be replaced, though, by a cryptocurrency that actually does effectively address the issues.

Right now, Bitcoin is the most accepted channel for connecting crypto to USD (and other fiat currencies), but that could literally change overnight, especially if a renowned service like CoinBase starts offering DNote/fiat trades (or pick any other reputable altcoin). If it truly becomes easier for the customers and the business to go through a new altcoin/fiat channel, then that's what's going to happen. As the article indicates, the Coinbase people are primarily businessmen, and they will go with what works. If Bitcoin quits working, Coinbase and companies like it will still be around, just using something else. It's really that simple.

I personally think Bitcoin will be around for quite a while, but it's doubtful whether it will remain the primary cryptocurrency. Quite frankly, there are better options out there, and the only reason they aren't being fully utilized is that they haven't reached the necessary critical mass of people knowing about and adopting them. Once that critical mass is reached, Bitcoin will be displaced as the primary. It will then continue to be used for some niche uses (as many altcoins are used now), and its capacity will fall to about what its block size can actually handle.

If you've put all your eggs in the Bitcoin basket, then the news from this article is very sad. However, if you keep the big picture in mind (especially the overall altcoin landscape), then it's really not as big a deal as the author makes it sound. It doesn't seem any different to me than say the first computer company being displaced as the market leader by a newer one that does computers better. Happens all the time.
1139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | NEW wallet, 50% POS Active on: January 15, 2016, 08:20:15 PM
since weeks we did suggest to everyone to withdraw his coins from cryptsy

finally the truth become visible

Did you read the announcement from Cryptsy?  People withdrawing their coins from Cryptsy based on rumor and innuendo made it more difficult for Cryptsy to absorb the losses from the theft.  It created a run on the exchange and now the entire exchange is about to collapse.  People will lose coins and money.

And don't for a minute suggest you or anyone knew about the problems all along.  You advised people to remove their coins from Cyrptsy based on false accusations.  I find this interesting since there were people making accusations about the DMD devs and some of their decisions too.  Do you want people starting rumors about your coin and then watch people dump it into oblivion while you try desperately to ward off the false rumors?

Perhaps you do not appreciate the gravity of an exchange the size of Cryptsy collapsing and the effect on all cryptocurrencies, maybe even DMD.  When all the big exchanges fail so will DMD and all the other coins.  There was a time when DMD needed Cryptsy.

If Cryptsy fails, you will see the entire market of alt-coins take a hit.  you could even see government step in again in an attempt to curb altcoins altogether.  This incident points out once again how little security there is in BTC and other coins.

I for one am hoping Crytpsy gets its coins back and is able to remain viable.  I support Cryptocoins in general and I understand how fragile this entire culture is still.

I also liked Cryptsy and we all feel sorry for them but we don't now that this whole story is true. In the last months they announced a lot of info and now none of it seems true. Do you believe now that this announcement is the right one?

And yes I think cryptonit did the right thing to advise people about Cryptsy when they started to have problems after problems with the BTC withdrawals. I also saw sometimes it took 2-3 hours to get some BTC from them. Imagine if he would have been said to the community "don't worry, use Cryptsy" and now all of us would still have DMD's there. Would he still be someone you can trust? And let's face it, the volume was ~ 2-3 BTC a day, I don't think this would had saved Cryptsy.

But with all this issues I hope they will recover and be back because it was a very good exchange.

I hope they recover too but it's unlikely. Also, the reason for all the innuendo and false accusations was that Cryptsy did not communicate meaningful updates, so people were left to speculate. Claiming to have technical difficulties can work for up to a week, but when they don't get fixed, people naturally suspect something more along the lines of insolvency, and now Cryptsy has just added to the mountain of precedent to support that view. The next exchange that has genuine technical difficulties had better be pretty specific about what they are and how long it will take to fix them, or they will be immediately suspected of insolvency as well.

This sounds like great news! Please do post updates, even if it doesn't seem like there is much to say, even if it's only "we continue to work on the issues." Updates of little or no progress are still better than no updates at all (Cryptsy, anyone?).
Ok. To reiterate earlier posts on cryptsy - don't use it for any coins: http://blog.cryptsy.com

Cryptsy is toast now, it seems. Their website is offline. What I meant by my comment was that one of the ways they completely shot themselves in the foot was poor communication, particularly lack of meaningful updates. I'm really glad you're working on the Devtome issues, and let me encourage you to please post regular updates, even if not much progress has been made since the last update. Regular communication is a wonderful thing Smiley

Also, with Cryptsy going down, it seems we are in need of a new trading platform. I really hate to pin everything on Vircurex. Poloniex has a new coin request form. Should we get a campaign going to have them list DVC? I'd also love to see it on BitTrex, although 'Trex is notorious for delisting coins quickly if they don't like the volume.
