1161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NOTE]DNotes - Company Launch and Book for Small Business Owners in 2016... on: January 04, 2016, 10:31:46 PM

I got an email from Allcoin asking me to withdraw all my coins before January 26 as they are being taken over. If I have anything on there, it isn't worth much, but tried to check anyway. My antivirus kept blocking it saying it wasn't a private connection. Just a heads-up.

I have a unique password for Allcoin. The BTC wallet is frozen (go figure!), but I was able to trade the little I had for DOGE and move that to BitTrex with no problems. I'll probably dump the DOGE and buy something else. If I start getting a boatload of new spam to my email address, I'll know it was a mistake. I'm not planning to trade there anymore or anything, even when the takeover is complete.

Any updates on the Devtome issue that was brought up here several weeks ago?

Hunterbunter said that he had made the Admin aware of the issue. Are you still having problems?

- Nova

I honestly haven't checked. I've been waiting for an update saying it's all resolved. The fact that another author is getting the same error message isn't too reassuring.
1163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: January 03, 2016, 02:12:32 AM
Yes, how long is it going to take to get this fixed?

I too am getting the error on devtome

Code:
Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /doku.php on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

is the auction still open?I would like to bid if I can view the analytics and adsense data

Try PM'ing the admin. He's not responding to posts on threads. Good luck. I hope it works out for you!

Reactor Payout?  Roll Eyes Thanks!

Reactor payout? I don't understand what that is. Please explain. Thanks

It's basically a large minting wallet that pays out minted DMD to cloudmining shareholders.

By the way, if anyone has a topic they would like covered on DCEBrief. I'm gathering up a few now to send out to the writers. This is an open invitation if you think of anything in the future as well, feel free to post it here or send me an email.

I would like to see a DNotes year in review type of article. Recap what has happened this and what's next.

+1

Would also be good to recap a few other prominent (or promising) altcoins--ones I would recommend are NEU, DMD, PIGGY, XEM. XPY would also make for a very interesting article because that coin has made a major recovery from its origins as basically a scam coin to cover up a mining hardware scam. XPY is now a legit coin with a lot of challenges up ahead, but with a very good dev team which has gone above and beyond the call of duty and done something few in the cryptospace have done. Disclosure: I own strong positions in all these altcoins (including DNotes Smiley )

Great ideas all! An altcoin one might be tough because of the volume of information and we don't want to be too biased. I'll have to give that some thought.

You'd have to cover highlights about each coin so it's not too much and provide links to relevant websites or forum threads for those who want more information. As for bias, I figure the best thing is to be positive about each coin. The real bias would be in which coins you select to cover. I wouldn't cover a coin unless you thought it had potential. Even then, you won't be able to cover all of them. You could come up with some screening criteria, such as coin needs to be at least a year old (that will avoid inadvertently covering the quick death ones), a minimal USD or BTC marketcap (sustained for a certain amount of time)--basic metrics that indicate a strong coin vs. a weak one. I could probably come up with a few more that aren't strictly numerical as well Smiley

I think what it boils down to is the research time needed. My time spent keeping up on the latest in the alt space is limited these days. Though I/we do want to support positive industry efforts regardless of where they come from. I am still interested in hearing from your experience about what you like about these coins.

Yes, I really should write that up.

An option to save time would be to ask the devs to submit their own write-ups, and then verify the information. Usually people involved in a coin are pretty familiar with its history.

I think the story in this thread may be worth covering in DCEBrief. The point I see that is often missed by the highly myopic (Bitcoin only) publications is that the Bitcoin block chain is neither the only block chain out there, nor is it the only one banks are interested in. The thread is mostly about how a number of Japanese banks are using the technology underlying the NEM system for their own private block chains. I wouldn't be surprised if there aren't other coin's block chains out there that are attracting corporate interest, though NEM is the only one I know about so far.

What you think about IOTA ? Is this really new technology or this is just nothing?

Thanks.

mmm, Faucet not working is a true issue for the new users coming NEM for test it, i always have tried the coins with the faucet and after i have bought it, it is like a test a car before of buy it, let 's hope it will be fixed soon

I think the same people going to the faucet everyday are not really test driving Smiley

True... but faucets are so much fun. It's a bummer when they don't work well. If there's going to be a hard limit on how often one can visit the faucet, then that should be made clear on the faucet website.

Suddenly my wallet won't open. Gives me error messages. Was there a mandatory update recently?

Yes, on Dec 4th.  What OS are you on btw?

I got that update. I'm running 1.2.3.0 or something like that. It was working just fine, but then yesterday, my computer did one of its automatic update/restart, and when I tried to fire up the wallet, I got an error message. It was working fine up until the day before yesterday. Right now I'm running Windows 8.1 and on the fence about updating to Windows 10.

If you PM me an email address I can send you a screen shot of the error message.

Question:

I'm conducting research on alternative investments that include crypto currency. Has anyone here invested in Bitcoin, in any manor other than simply buying and holding it? I'm talking about legitimate funds and traditional investment vehicles that now include Bitcoin, etc.

Public or private answers are fine, no personal info please.

I'm really liking the BTC Jam autoinvest program as a Bitcoin investment. Sometimes lending to margin traders on Poloniex works very well, but involves more management and last I checked rate of return was low.

For other coins, Diamond cloud mining is great, but legally it's not considered an investment-yada yada... Neucoin has its growth funds which currently offer out of this world rates of return (NEU is a staking coin).

Don't forget to mention DNotes vault Smiley

Merry Christmas!

EDIT: Almost forgot, the rental starter fund on Havelock is another good one. Not super high rate of return, but solid. They have a legal disclaimer about not taking US investments but I have not heard of that being enforced, probably just a necessary CYA statement.

The legendary diamond requires you to have either 3k or 15k, correct?

There is no way to take lets say 2,5k and stake it up to 3k with the bonus?

I was curious about this too, actually.

As far as I understood it's possible to buy 2,5k and stake it until 3k. Then, after 3k, you need to specify another address for staking rewards. If it goes more than 3k the staking bonus it's not active anymore. Same for 15k address.

3k or 15k in one single coin pile and a set scrape address where POS rewards are send too
at least thats how it is set up now

it is the best possible way for optimal wallet performance
because the check if a stake is boosted or not have only be performed for this special coin pile size

if done different every staking have to run through the check if it is boosted

so for now please expect to have a exact correct sized coin pile inside the legendary
in case we find other same nearly null performance impact ways we will consider it but for now please expect the strict coin pile size way

Thanks for the clarification Smiley

Are Devcoins still being merge mined with Bitcoin, according to this website: http://devcoin.org/get-devcoin.html?

If so, why is it that devcoin blocks are being added at a much slower rate than Bitcoin blocks?

Or did I simply never understand how it really works?
