1621  Other / Meta / Re: Biggest Scammer on bitcointalk.org in the last couple of years??? on: May 01, 2014, 04:05:10 AM
Hey TradeFortress,
I'm still trying to settle something with you regarding funds that I lost when Inputs.io was hacked. Can you please PM me so we can work something out? I would really appreciate a response of some sort.
Thanks.

There's a difference between a service that was hacked (which is something that can happen even if you place great importance on the security), and a scammer.
1622  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: March 31, 2014, 06:47:15 PM
How will the formal announcement be made? I'm not on the Forum as much as I used to be and want to make sure I don't miss it. Is there any way that you could send a notice via Forum PM or email?

Development update:

The development contract announcement will be delayed. My plan is to have the announcement when we have a clear road map of NEM development going forward and preferably within 1-2 weeks of the alpha launch. Unfortunately, at this point we don't have an ETA for the alpha launch yet and consequently, the formal announcement is delayed. My guesstimate of the Alpha is still on later part of April but there are quite a few things that needs to be worked on before we can make a solid ETA.

We currently have two repo, one for NEM infrastructure codes and one for NEM client codes and quite a few other concurrent projects going on. Progress is made on daily basis and team-quality wise I think we are as strong as Ethereum group except that NEM team and development are still in a stealthy mode.

NEM client would be called NEM community client (NCC) and here is NCC specification written by Thies1965. Feel free to comment on it.

These are some mock-up design of NCC

I hope you like what NCC will look like in the future. Let me know if you are a developer and interested in working on expanding NEM ecosystem. I have some ideas about the future direction of NEM that I could share and I am very excited about it. Thanks.
1623  Other / Archival / Re: CoinRnr.com - Buy and Sell Bitcoin FASTER (Same Day Delivery, US Based) on: March 07, 2014, 09:17:43 PM
Coin RNR is an excellent service. I have done 7 transactions with them so far, and 6 have worked amazingly well with the 7th one placed today in the works. Mazin talked me through my first order via the chat feature, and since then has been very responsive to questions and other support needs. You definitely get to interact with the human being on the other side of the site which is very reassuring considering what has been going on with other Bitcoin sites.

I learned about Coin RNR right about the time Camp BX announced it would no longer be processing ACH transfers directly to a bank, so I needed an alternative service, so the timing of launch couldn't have been better for me.

Coin RNR doesn't have all the features of an exchange, so you compromise a little on price, but that is more than made up for in speed of delivery. I'm usually not in any big hurry to trade my Bitcoin into fiat, but I do appreciate the speed here because I really like to minimize the amount of time my funds are tied up in an online service. I really appreciate the fast in and out. I send my Bitcoin and within an hour I get the email informing me that my bank transfer is on its way.

Keep up the good work and may Coin RNR be able to scale up while still keeping the great customer service Smiley

50 - from round 31: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?&topic=233997.msg4053035#msg4053035
You didn't know? I even quoted your previously discussed article. It doesn't make much practical difference anyway because it was an effort (mostly by me to be honest) to at least keep payments in line with 80 when bounded multipliers were incorporated. So it means good writers can still get max 75 (50 * 1.5), other writers less.

LOL weisoq--I totally missed the post. Lucky for me I had no objections Smiley

I was reading some of the more recent posts about support or the lack thereof, and here's my take on it:

1. People are generally willing to help, even if it's not exactly something they get paid to do, so team spirit is high. Exceptions seem to be few and far between and probably can be dealt with case by case.

2. Some of us (yes, yours truly included) don't always keep up with the forum so might miss support requests we can answer. Even when we do, it's easy if we're in a hurry to hope someone else answers the question first (and often that does happen). So it's possible this thread may not be the best place to post these requests.

3. For me PM's are a sure way to reach me, because even if I'm not on the Forum for a few days, I get the notification in my email. Then when I want to address them, I log onto the Forum and all my support requests (mostly signup requests) are in one place, not mixed in with my other emails. So if I'm the person to ask, then PM is the best way.

4. Having said that, PM is not the best way to get immediate support from me as I may not get back to the request for a day or two, so I generally encourage users to post their questions to the thread saying someone else might get to it sooner than I will, but I make an effort to still answer their question as soon as I can.

5. Even though we're all a team and there's a lot of cross help, it would be helpful to have something like an About Us page on the Devtome that is prominently linked to from the front page. This page would have a headline section for each admin and what each one does and his or her preferred contact method. For example for me, it's via forum PM, but for others it might be a specific email address, social media ID or text message, etc.)

6. We also have a prominently linked Devtome page that is organized by the various support needs users might have, and each section includes options on how to go about getting that support. In some cases it may be reaching out on this thread, but other cases may involve PM'ing a specific admin, or even sending a PM to a specific group of admins.

7. We also have a prominently linked Devtome page for updates/announcements/changes. Admins can make a point to check it regularly so they know when changes happen (if like me they missed it when it was announced here). When a change is posted on the announcement page, it should also be populated on any other policy pages so that all info is consistent. So for example, any pages which mention a writer share count limit of 80 should be changed to 50.

If there are no objections I'll go ahead and create an about us page and ask admins to post their own info once I have a good format down. At first admins will be listed in no particular order, but as more info is added I'll organize it into some logical fashion, grouping like admins together.

If there are no objections I'll create a page for common support issues and how to resolve them, again with the commitment to organize it in a logical manner once info gets added. I would ask admins who mostly deal with a certain type of issue to fill in the info about the issue and how to resolve it. This page could read like an FAQ page.

If there are no objections I'll create an update/announcement page, and this one will simply be maintained where new announcements get added to the top (like a blog).

I won't invoice any of these pages since most of the content will not be created by me, just organized.

I offer my assistance also. It would require the article you mention to help clarify the functions/roles of the different admins, imo.

Apologies for the double post. I will be happy to write this article as long as it hasn't already been written and as long as I can contact all the admins to get their feedback on what they do.  Perhaps I could ask everyone to send me a job description and then compile that and invoice it under "collated." How does that sound?

EDIT: or better yet, create the page with a headline for each admin and ask them to complete their job description, then I rearrange order to have a logical flow. And I don't necessarily need to invoice the page at all since it would be a total community effort.

Thoughts?
1628  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: February 11, 2014, 08:04:43 PM
I think it would be a good idea to have specific admins for writer support if they don't already exist. An alternative would be to have people sign up for certain times where they would be "on call" to handle any support requests as soon as possible.

What is the role of the earnings admin, exactly? I'm wondering if some of this isn't covered by those admins. I'm referring to support with people figuring out the proper syntax, how to set up their invoice page, wanting someone to have a look-see at one of their articles to make sure it's all good, etc.

Actual technical support, as in something is broken, is actually beyond my capability.

weisoq, did the amount of allowed writing shares per round go down to 50? When did this happen?
1629  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: February 11, 2014, 06:26:00 PM
I just signed up some more writers. If I missed you, please feel free to message me again. Any requests sent to me today will get processed tomorrow.

Happy writing, everyone Smiley
1630  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: February 11, 2014, 05:19:42 PM
Do we have some Devtome admins whose job is specifically to help users with technical support issues, or even talk them through things like how to properly format articles, etc.?

I occasionally get asked questions along those lines, and I'm happy to help, but I know my responses aren't in the most timely fashion. It would seem to me that an admin (more than one for sure!) who already spends a lot of time on the forum, reading messages, and so forth, might be better suited to handle new user support requests.

If this is already covered, please post who the admins are so that I can forward on any such requests to them.

Edit: Actually, is there a Devtome page with an updated list of admins and what each one does along with their forum ID? If so, please post this too and let's add it to the writer's guide section. If not, I'll volunteer to write it

I'm getting this error a lot right now. Unfortunately that means I have to hold off on signing up new writers. If you messaged me over the weekend, thanks in advance for your patience, and I'll give it a shot tomorrow.

Yep many error 508 here.
1632  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Welcome new writers :) on: February 08, 2014, 03:04:56 AM
I just signed up four or five new writers. If you messaged me in the past two days and still haven't gotten a reply, please message me again as that means I missed you.

I'm getting enough requests that I'm processing them in batches once a day or every other day, so if you don't hear back right away, that's why.

Welcome aboard to all the new writers. It appears word about the Devtome opportunity is getting out.
1633  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Signing up new writers on: January 31, 2014, 05:15:24 AM
I just processed registrations for several new writers who contacted me. If I missed anyone, please feel free to PM me again and I will take care of you.

Edit: Also, when you do contact your signup admin, please allow up to three days for a reply, as sometimes we get swamped. Everyone's patience is greatly appreciated.

Wiser and Newbie
I had all the same problems until I modified the xml file in the root subdirectory. There is a list of host IP addresses, not sure of latest one as I am on my travel laptop, but you put that in. Restart and it worked for at least 3 days before the memory leak killed it. Jan 3rd should have the 4.8 release with bug fixes to make it more stable.

James

Unfortunately, this is way too technical for me. I actually jumped into NXT because a friend recommended it, and when I read about it it sounded like it was the sort of alt coin that would be good for people who didn't know a whole lot about coding or programming, like you install and run it and you're good to go. Unfortunately, NXT has been the squirliest thing I've ever dealt with. I can see my account on the block chain and it shows that since I purchased the value has gone up fivefold, so I'm kind of excited about that, but I can't access anything.

Do you happen to know if the 4.8 release will come with an install wizard? It would be so much easier if it could be installed in one step and just done right from the beginning without me having to modify this or modify that.

I just tried and it took me three times to stay on the page.  The ad was bitcoinadvertisers.  Thanks for the faucet!

I get that issue too. Sometimes I have to try two or three times before the faucet "sticks" long enough for me to enter the info.
1637  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Beg here for Nxt coins on: December 29, 2013, 04:25:05 AM
I don't need a NXT donation. I just need help to be able to get the client and everything on my system connected with NXT to work. Here's what I posted on the Nextcoin forum, and I'm cross posting on several threads here so that I can get the attention of someone who can help me ASAP.

I tried to install the "program" so that I could use a NXT wallet several weeks ago. At first it looked like it was working, but then it became obvious that I couldn't send anything. I followed advice and modified some things, then I couldn't even open my wallet.

This evening I tried removing all the stuff from my hard drive and following the directions to install the program all over again. I tried to follow the steps but along the way things often don't go as expected. Anyway, now I can't open anything. The local host won't work, when I run the start.bat file, it doesn't run as expected.

I'm actually really concerned about this because I bought a bunch of NXT so that I could have a nice balance in my wallet to get in on the forging thing, but I was not able to open my wallet to see if my purchased NXT even made it there.

I would really, really LOVE it if someone who knows how this works could message me and walk me through it via skype or something like that. People put suggestions for modifying this or that, and most of it I don't understand. I'd also LOVE it if the program could be installed in one step like those wizards they have on most other software. Either way, though, I really need to get this working and I need someone to talk me through it, and possibly help me clean out old attempts from my system.

Can someone please help?

Thanks!

I don't know if this is the right thread, but I'm not getting the response I need from the Nextcoin forum so here goes:
