''Two-time champion Naomi Osaka has withdrawn from this year's Australian Open just eight days before the start of the tournament.''
''Osaka, a winner in Melbourne in 2019 and 2021, has not played on the WTA Tour since September and has slipped to 42 in the world rankings.''
''No reason was given for the 25-year-old Japanese player's withdrawal.''

Source: https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/64201877

I really like Osaka as a tennis player and I was really hoping that she would finally return to top level tennis and that we would see her in Australia.
Unfortunately, it seems that she can't overcome her mental problems and is further away from returning to the top of world tennis.
It's a shame because it's really a big loss for world tennis to lose such a great tennis champion.
Do you think there is still hope for Osaka to return to tennis?
Serena also ended her great tennis career and now women's tennis has become less interesting to watch for me, I believe others too.

this Osaka issue from what I can tell she wants to stop playing tennis, maybe it is really tiring for her and for that reason she wants to stop and do other things, usually what has happened is that when someone is a famous athlete and is always traveling from city to city to play this person will not have time for relationships and it will even be difficult to have children and take care of them, there are few people who realize this and decide to retire from the sport, this may be what is happening to her, but if she stops playing will also have serious consequences in terms of her financial income, the sponsors will stop sponsoring her and with that she will not earn money from the sport.

Yeah, it was just in my feed today and see the news that she is pregnant and that's why she will skipped this years Australian Open. I guess we should be happy for her as she uses to have a family and a child over his career.

Not the first news about a tennis player getting pregnant, Ash Barty also reported that she and husband Garry Kissick were expecting their first child.

So congrats to both ladies.
1742  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bottom of the Bear Market...let's accumulate!! on: January 11, 2023, 07:54:07 AM
You can count me in on the DCA club. I’ve been buying consistently for several months now and have no plan to stop anytime soon. I think buying under $20K is going to be looked back at as the best opportunity since $3K. Looking back there will likely be a lot of people who say it was obvious that this was the bottom, but not as many that can say they bought and took advantage. Be an advantage taker. Smiley

Yes, this is like $3,000 for us last March 2020 in the middle of the bear market and also with the pandemic scare around. Now we have the FTX collapse pushing the price to $15,000 and if we are continuing to accumulate till now, then it's a good win already.

And I do agree, regardless if we are in the bear market, or maybe hitting the lowest already, still great opportunity, as the price is in the consolidation phase. Others might feel not comfortable, but we should take advantage and we should do it till the block halving and then see how far the price will go in the next bull run (prediction is $100,000 minimum).
1743  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Learn from my mistake, these people aren't playing on: January 11, 2023, 07:25:04 AM
Thanks for letting us know, yeah this scammers are not going to stop in taking people's money with this kind of trick. So we should really be careful on what we invest, specially projects that are pure hype, we should DYOR.

It might take some time for us to do that, but at least we can sleep at night knowing that we have invested on the right project.

And hopefully newbies or even experience once will learn from the mistakes of OP not to invest on something just because of the name or association with other projects.
1744  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Caleb Plant vs David Benavidez on: January 11, 2023, 02:06:12 AM
^^ Everyone here is inclined to see Benavidez vs Canelo, it will be a fresh challenge for the cash cow and so it will be interesting how he will deal with the youth of Benavidez and the speed and the power as well (although David is flat footed).

And I'm thinking that if Plant wins here, Canelo will not give him another opportunity.

He might go directly with Bivol again, regardless if the weight is 168-175 lbs. Bivol is more willing to fight Canelo at this point for his legacy.
1745  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 11, 2023, 01:29:42 AM
It appears we have another boxer who will be very exciting similar to how Manny Pacman was during his challenges in different weight divisions. However, Naoya Inoue's mission is to be the first male boxer to unify all championships in 2 different divisions. According to this article he mentioned that he will be in the ring again on April or May! I speculate him to challenge Akhmadaliev first, before a unification superfight against Stephen Fulton on December.

He also mentioned that his body can reach the limit to featherweight.

Naoya Inoue became the ninth fighter to unify all four major titles in boxing's four-belt era.

Inoue is now looking to become the only male fighter to accomplish the feat in two weight classes.

"I believe I'm going to aim for it," Inoue said. "We'll need to develop a thorough plan."

The Japanese star will be heading up to 122-pounds, after knocking out British fighter Paul Butler in eleven rounds to unify the IBF, WBO, WBA, WBC world bantamweight titles.

Inoue plans to return on a date in April or May of the coming year.

The world titles at 122-pounds are owned by two undefeated fighters, Uzbekistan's Murodjon Akhmadaliev and Stephen Fulton of the United States - with each boxer holding two belts.

Source https://www.boxingscene.com/naoya-inoue-i-go-far-featherweight--171207
Compete higher. I would love to see this happen. Make history. Break records. I bet the fighters in that weight division are itching to have a piece of Naoya Inoue but they will have to wait. I mean, who doesn't love good competition and fresh blood?  Cheesy
"Thorough plan." Yes, he will need it as this is a new jungle that he will be up against. He may have dominated his weight class but I am sure the boxers in the next will not just give him what he wants to happen.
Challenges will pour out in his schedule.

You forgot another thing, he is under Bob Arum, and he has the blue print to guide Inoue's career to be a 2 time unified champion in different division. After all Arum has that experience when he work with Manny to become 8 division champ that I don't think someone can beat in the next 50 years.

Yeah, I think 130 lbs will still be great for Inoue to reach and maybe still won a belt if ever he can go that far.

His body can move up in weight class but for sure there will be a limit. Love to see him either with Fulton or Akhmadaliev for this year. Unless Fulton will go up in weight class and vacated his belt.
1746  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Woman won $43million but was offered a steak dinner instead of her winnings on: January 11, 2023, 01:10:04 AM
Quote
Katrina Bookman was playing the slots at the Resorts World Casino in Jamaica, Queens when she secured what would have been the largest slot machine jackpot in US history - $42,949,672 (£35.4m). She took a selfie with the machine to mark the moment, and later said her whole body went 'numb' when she saw the life-changing figure. Bookman was told to come back the next day to discuss her winnings, but when she asked an employee what she'd be walking away with, he responded: "You didn't win nothing." The New York State Gaming Commission said Bookman’s machine had malfunctioned, and that she'd actually won just $2.25 (£1.86).The machine had a disclaimer stating 'malfunctions void all pays and plays', and as a result the commission said that they were required by law to give Bookman only what she'd actually won.

Source: https://www.unilad.com/community/woman-won-43-million-offered-steak-dinner-instead-055644-20230108

Some Casinos are just plain fraudulent. So this woman visited a casino, play slot and won $43million. She took a selfie with the amount displayed on the machine. The casino saw it and told her to return the next day so they could talk about the winnings. Next day she returned. Story changed. She was told the machine had malfunctioned and therefore it was what was responsible for the winnings. They went ahead to offer her a complimentary steak dinner. I got so livid reading this story.

Isn't this just the stupidest reason not to give her her winnings?
Couldn't they have known that their so-called machine was faulty before letting gamblers use it?
How could they do this to her?

Was surprised by the response by one employee on her? I don't think that any machine in the floor is malfunction, if it did then the casino are not going to install it right away and fix it. Or if someone plays on that machine and notice that something is not right, maybe she/he can call any of the staff and tell that the machine is not right.

We have RW here and I've seen people winning huge jackpot and being paid. They are even given a free room so that they can be paid in private at their comfort and then they can go back and play again.
1747  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will 2023 be another up year for Bitcoin? on: January 09, 2023, 10:41:57 AM
i think half year will go downwards then we can aspect recovery
and nice image it shows like this year will be up

To be honest enough no one has really seen the future. Whatever we are stating here is based on assumptions and estimations. The OP has really provided the true graph that Bitcoins often follows. So yes there are high chances that Bitcoins will break its ATH this year. Moreover if we see more depth about the rise of Bitcoins, then it happens during the September-December range in a particular year. So yes lets see what happens in the later part of this year. Many hopes are there on Bitcoins and I am sure Bitcoins won’t break it.

According to the chart OP provided, predicting 2023 will be a bullish year, I agree we will have a "bullish" year, but that doesn't mean bitcoin will be able to break ATH this year. That's an exaggerated prediction, as the ATH can only be generated after every halving. 2023 will be an " up " year, which means bitcoin could hit $30k or $40k, which is also considered a bullish year for bitcoin. Anyway, that's only a speculation, let's wait and see if bitcoin creates any surprises.

Initially though, I' still seeing a bearish market this 2023, but if we look at the previous yearly candles, it's possible that we might have a small bullish momentum entering 2024.

So yeah, long term prediction from me says that we might be around $20,000 to at least $30,000 if history is going to repeat itself again. It might not be that huge increased, but at least no more lower lows which we don't like in a bearish sentiments.
1748  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Deontay Wilder versus Andy Ruiz Title Eliminator on: January 09, 2023, 09:20:12 AM
If Ruiz didn't get that upset win against Joshua, many of us here will bet for Wilder with this one, right?
Many here are still rooting for Wilder with this one but TBH, Ruiz still has a shot and with his fight against Joshua, that only shows that you can still win even all of the people are betting against you.

OP said that this will end up in a KO, but Ruiz still didn't lose by a KO in his whole career. Lost twice to a strong Joshua that has a high KO win rate thru a decision. On the other hand, we've seen one of the best KO punchers in Heavyweight division in Wilder.

This will be a test of stamina and strength combined. I don't think that this will end up in a KO, but it will be a decision. I would not be surprised though if Wilder wins by knockout on this one even though Ruiz didn't lose by knockout on his whole career. I voted Wilder on this one.

In the rematch, it was Ruiz on doing that he lost the fight, he admitted that after that big win, he just went and go party with his success, became lazy in training and then Joshua adopted to his style, we might as well say that Joshua just run the whole fight.

But the question is still Ruiz stamina as he might gas out later if the fight goes to distance.

Or gets tired if Wilder caught him with good combination.
1749  Other / Archival / Re: [POLL]What do you expect from Bitcoin in 2023? on: January 08, 2023, 10:38:31 AM
We certainly won't have a new all-time high, that's for sure. I'm not confident about an imminent recovery either; however, I wouldn't be surprised if we see Bitcoin trending at $30,000 in the upcoming months. I'm mostly between the first two options, but I chose the first one because, due to the uncertainty and the economic recession we're going through, I wouldn't doubt the possibility of another crash, especially in the event of another incident similar to FTX.

Not that bad if we are going to hit $30,000 at the end of the year. Hopefully, we have learn our lessons from the FTX collapse and to some extend, Terra Luna. Founders and CEO should know best, they shouldn't mess with their investors money.

The war though, still in the background and I think this is the biggest factor that can affect us this year.

Honestly, I'm quite enjoying the bear market; it really assists in the accumulation of Bitcoin.

Who wouldn't?

For sure those who have deep pockets and here for the long term are very happy to see the price moving sideways and wall below discounted prices. This is like 2017 all over again so good opportunity to continue to accumulate.
1750  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BANKMAN-FRIED PANIC GAMBLES TO REPAY DEBT on: January 08, 2023, 09:53:53 AM

If the third party is trustworthy, people will stick with that third party. But if there are more third parties who deceive these people, they will gradually lose our trust and those people will start to move to find other parties. And it's true that we have to be really responsible with all our investment assets and will not hold them on any exchange. But unfortunately, the exchange already provides comfort and very attractive offers for us so that we can easily use their services. And as long as we can be careful in choosing that third party, we won't have a bad experience.

If SBF had not done this, he would have seen that what he had done could benefit many people so that he would also have benefited. But everything has happened and we must be able to learn from it to be careful in making decisions.
We are the ones who do make out on what would be our future and SBF did really make up a decision to messing everythings up because of his greediness. Its true that if he had just well handled out FTX
then he would definitely be making tons of money without needing to have those shady spendings and other issues that he had done recently. This do really shows that a man couldnt really be just that
contented on what he do earns. He is lucky that he had made out a platform which is really next to BInance when it comes to popularity and relevance but all he had just wasted
that opportunity and let it slip away just because on doing such act.
If someone has decided to manage his business, he really must be able to maintain the trust of those who depend on him because trust is the most important thing in a business. In this case, SBF has lost the trust of its investors and will not be able to return to the crypto world anymore. Meanwhile, people who have experienced losses must be able to learn from this bitter experience so that they don't experience it again in the future. And we don't know yet what will happen to the investors, the exchange, or anything else.

The thing is that we really don't know whether we should trust him in the first place, and for sure majority has regret their decisions to believed SBF in the beginning. But we can't do anything as FTX already collapses, he has a court case and potential for a jail time together with 2 others.

So that is very hard for investors to see in the beginning, trust is subjective, so it's up to us whether we are going to trust another person in crypto.

Or just learn from this mistakes to just used the old and reliable exchanges.
1751  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Deontay Wilder versus Andy Ruiz Title Eliminator on: January 08, 2023, 09:33:16 AM
I wouldn't comment on the body shape since appearance doesn't really important.

Not to underestimated Wilder's power, but I doubt it will be easy fight for Wilder to knock out Ruiz. Ruiz haven't lose via KO in his whole career, he only lose against Anthony Joshua via decision 2 times even though Joshua is strong and has high KO chance for 81,48%.

I predict Ruiz could survive for 12 rounds even though Wilder will win this fight.

Very tough and hard to see how the fight will end, part of me saying that Wilder can knock out Ruiz, but then again, as you have said, Ruiz hasn't been knockout and even the fight against King Kong Ortiz, who is also a big puncher, he didn't go down in the fight and eventually win it.

So yeah, most probably Ruiz would survived a grueling and hard fought 12 rounds but Wilder might win by like 2 points in the judges scorecard.

I also wanted to see Wilder fight Usyk as well in the future if he wins here.
1752  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gervonta Davis VS Hector Luis Garcia SAT, JAN 07, 2023 on: January 08, 2023, 08:35:26 AM
In the post fight press conference, he said that he is ready for Ryan Garcia. Yes, it was a good test for Gervonta Davis in this fight, Hector Garcia is no easy tune up fight, I thought he is going to finished him under 8 rounds. So no shame in Hector Garcia, he won some rounds in my book. It's that Gervonta's power is very difficult that if you were really caught by it, hard to recover even in between rounds.

So the stage is set in April for Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia, can't wait.
1753  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you guys think about Aleo? on: January 07, 2023, 12:11:12 PM
They have raised around $290M from investors already.

Red flag for me. Its not 2020 anymore. We are in 600 days long bear market. $10M is a lot. I doubt that they have raised 290M from investors. And its only for selling part of supply, part of supply i still not sold, new coins being minted so we are talking about top 50 CMC just to break even for seed investors? its a lot for platform that does not have userbase and is not listed anywhere. Pancakeswap, the biggest DEX on bsc with millions of users have similar marketcap.

This is what I initially thought, anyhow I'm not familiar with it, but usually the forecast might be balloon as well by the people behind. So it might end up at $4-$6 dollars instead of what they have estimated.

In any case, it seems that the OP has made his mind already, deep already on mining.

It might have raised that huge amount of money, but it might be equal to success as we are very much in the hear of the bear market this 2023, IMHO.
1754  Economy / Speculation / Re: January bitcoin price out look on: January 07, 2023, 11:00:28 AM
Next few hours or day or so could determine this question as we're at top of the range we've kept since Dec 16th and even back to end of Nov we held a similar pricing.  If we can trade above 17k and maintain momentum such as the 2, 7, 50 day moving average it could be viewed positively for a trend of gains.
We had traded closer to 20k and challenged that area before slipping and reaching this lower ledge, it would definitely constitute a small recovery to make this break to a higher level.  DXY had been building this week but fell today so that too continuing would help a trend.

I haven't seen it touch $17,000, but we are near that price range, $16,900 and still moving up. So this is good sign. And yeah, it the momentum continues then all indicators will lead to a good bounce back.

That's what I wanted to see though, $20,000 at least this early to test the market sentiments again.

And probably it will set up what the trend will be this 2023. A small rebound is not that bad after all.
1755  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Twitch To Ban Gambling Streaming By October 18th. on: January 07, 2023, 10:37:51 AM
Since the thread was still active I was kinda curious, does anyone have any info on how effective the twitch ban was? I don't think it's has any negative connotation so far, no news about what has happened with twitch after all which basically means good news imo.

A streaming website fully dedicated to gambling seems like too niche to gather enough attention from the public, and as such streamers would probably ignore such platform, so I think the opposite is the correct route.
Casinos going for streamers and sponsoring them is attributed to their fame, which not only comes from gambling originally but from other sources as well. Having a website just for streaming gambling stuff seems kinda dumb, I reckon them making a channel (and possibly coordinating with the platform about possible rule bypasses) would prove to be much better, maybe inviting big streamers than gamble there every now and then.

Not really sure if this data can help us track how Twitch was affected business wise

https://twitchtracker.com/statistics

There's a lot of numbers to digest, but it seems they are not that affected, or at least at how we projected them to be due to he supposedly ban on gambling streamers in their platform.

And there are reports that gambling streamers are still alive and kicking on Twitch again.
1756  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: January 07, 2023, 09:57:35 AM

And each one says things to himself in his own way:

Hector Garcia says he’ll beat Tank Davis by being “smarter fighter”

That has not to be told, it's already given, I mean you need to be smart in order to win the fight. This isn't his first fight, I'm pretty sure he is using his intelligence everytime he stepped up in the ring. The question here, what if Tank Davis is still smarter than him, then how can he beat Davis?
Well, once smarter, always the winner of course.  But let’s wait and see if who will be the king in the ring once again and remain undefeated up to last and final round. I am still rooting for Davis despite of the issues he has been into, I think his performance will always be outstanding with regards to Hector’s performance in the ring.

I think the issues of Tank is not going to affect him in this fight as it has been settled already and it's too late to affect hi as the fight is going to happen as plan this Saturday night.

It was definitely over his head now, he is focus as you can see in their final press conference, and even Hector Garcia himself admit that it doesn't bother Tank now and so both are focus on their fight.

I'm not really sure what Hector Garcia means by being the smarter fighter, Davis has a good boxing IQ, and I think his opponents are underestimating this as they believed that he is only known to have punching power. But to be able to knockout an opponent, you need to think of strategy, like feints and movement and proper placing of the feet to be able to see how they will react. And I think Davis has this in his arsenal and that's why he was able to set up his knockout punch perfectly. And so if there is someone who is smarter here, it will be Tank Davis for me.

Probably to psyche himself up, or since he doesn't speak English, it could be lost in translation. Nevertheless we will see if Hector will be just another victim of Davis vicious punch or could really be a threat and derail the plans of Tank vs Ryan Garcia.
1757  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gervonta Davis VS Hector Luis Garcia SAT, JAN 07, 2023 on: January 07, 2023, 09:35:30 AM
I am very excited for this because I have told everyone many times that Boots Ennis is the boxer who can win against the kings of welterweight, Spence and Crawford.

In any case, my prediction is Boots will knockout Karen in round 1.

Yes, Ennis said that he wanted to make a statement here, it will be a PPV fight (co main event) so everyone is watching him. And if he win big here then for sure the hype train will continue and hopefully it will lead to either Spence or Crawford this year.

This will be a ladder boost for Jaron Ennis to get his place much closer to both Errol Spence and Terence Crawford, but it'll be closer for Spence because he will be the IBF mandatory after his fight against Karen which by the way I don't think that Ennis will lose here against Ukrainian boxer. Critics will be watching him in this bout for sure and defeating Karen will boost his name to call for the champions next.

Yes, I think that will be the perfect scenario for Ennis, beat the Ukrainian, (although he was scary during the face-off), but nevertheless this could be an easy fight for Jaron, might be too strong and too big for Karen.

So yes, a statement win, badly needed by Ennis to send that he will be looking for Spence next as he is the mandatory now.

Maybe Spence will fight Thurman and after his win, its easy Spence vs Boots.
1758  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is on the Verge To Slice Through $30,000 on: January 06, 2023, 10:31:52 AM
I would agree that such stability seems to be the accumulation phase and the big boys are loading their bags while the panic is still allowing it on the cheap.  I'm not sure $30K is the target they're looking for though.  Now is the time to buy and sit on it for 2 years, or continue buying regularly through dollar cost averaging while things pickup again.  It's possible a nasty recession could take things lower, but one thing is certain, the government will print their way out of the coming recession and Bitcoin will flourish.  Whether it hits $13K or $5K won't matter when it hits $200K in a couple years.  Just make sure you have money to keep you afloat if there's a job loss or other catastrophe in your life.

For selling? I doubt that $30,000 will be the target of this big boys in the market. They have change the game and rules already so they might be looking for at least 6 digits before they will sell and offload some of their stash.

And with the current market situation, still a win win for them, total accumulation, very cheap price and even if it went to $30,000 or $13,000 they will continue to accumulate because this whale are smart and knows when to amass and stockpile BTC and when is the right time to make a selloff for easy huge profits at hand in the future.
1759  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stay away from BONK on: January 06, 2023, 09:59:43 AM
I'm not familiar with this so called BONK, but it's good that you have given the community a fair warning because obviously this is just another meme coins, for just pump and dump scheme and that's what really happening right now.

It's all time high is around December 30 as per cmc, but you can see it right now going down as high as 50% already.

Meaning the dump has been happening ever since their ATH and have been happening for a week now. And I don't think it will help Solana survived though if that's what this project is all about.

So it will be Djokovic vs Shapovalov, anyone looking at the over 20.5 here at still a decent odds for 1.80?

I'm thinking that this might go over with this score as Djokovic has not been found his rhythm, he needed to go this his bag of tricks in order to survived that game because we think it was over for him, 3-5 with Quentin Halys, serving, no one thought that he will make that huge comeback.

20.5 should be good, I do not see Djokovic pushing a lot, just like today, he make it when needed, and play as on trainings

and it is good for self-confidence, winning two tie-breaks, instead of winning comfortable 6:2 or something, where you hardly have a chance to stretch, and he is confident that when needed, he will stretch enough to pick-up a win in the end
it all end-up on Shapovalov, if he serves good, probably at least one set going to tie-breaks again

Ok, the match hasn't started yet, and there was some movement from yesterday's initial odds.

So I did put a decent bet again before the game, over 21.5 at 1.88.

Yeah, let's see how Dennis is going to play, he should try to push Djokovic here in the first and see how Novak will react just like in this match against Quentin Halys.
