181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you choose to hold Bitcoin or Ethereum? on: January 15, 2018, 08:49:29 PM
I hold both, but of course I hold more Bitcoin than Ethereum. I actually started to compare my portfolio earnings with the performance of ETH and BTC that I initially had before investing in altcoins with them. This has shown me that I overall lost out in comparison to ETH and BTC, so for 2018, I decided to keep on holding more percentages of my portfolio in BTC and ETH. As I value the "dont put all eggs in one basket" rule, I will stick to holding both BTC and ETH!
182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your way to find most promising ICOs? on: January 15, 2018, 08:45:35 PM
To inform myself about recent ICO's Im using several ressources. The most important of those is coinspectator (a site where a lot of crypto information from all kinds of sources are being bundled and easy to filter from the viewer to sort out what is of interest and what not), another source are some youtubers that are evaluating ICO's, this also has helped me a lot because some of them really do solid, in-depth reviews. I also read one blog from my country that is sometimes suggesting to have a look at certain ICO's, buts its not mainly about ICO's its only pushing the really interesting ones.
183  Economy / Economics / Re: 2017 Was Bitcoin's Year. 2018 Will Be ....... on: January 15, 2018, 08:41:54 PM
To be honest, I dont think that Bitcoins time has already ended. I actually think that we will see Bitcoin perform really good for another year(s). So far there is no real competitor for Bitcoin, also a development of change (shifting to another currency as top currency) is a process that will take a lot of time for the community to build around the new coin that is emerging. This will also not happen from one day (or year) to another. This is rather something that evolves and will rather happen over a long period of time with more and more people joining the coins community.
184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Destroyed my life-bitcoin Investor on: January 15, 2018, 08:37:40 PM
Guess our common sense should tell us that investing in anything is a double edged thing. It can work out greatly and it could also go south completely. However I dont think that this story really is relevant now, because the guy went in pretty cheap, but he could not hold as long as he needed to or he wasnt believing enough in what he invested. I think that one should eighter only invest what he is totally okay with to loose completely or invest, but with a lot of confidence in the investment and then also stick to it in bad times. If the guy held onto his coins, he will be near to a millionaire now.
185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 1 ETH - should buy alt or hold on to it on: January 15, 2018, 08:25:06 PM

I have seen so many alt coins that were cheaper and I was holding on to ETH thinking  it will pave out. I wish i bought altcoins with it as that would got me some profits.

For e.g

I was watching VERGE xvg recently when it was less than 1 cent. today it is 25 cents. I wish that I had invested in it when My gut  instincts was for it.

Did not want to loose the only ether as i lost my Previous eth in Confido scam. Please advise.

Well, wishing that we would have invested when prices were still low are a common thing, nevertheless I dont think that this is doing any good. One thing I would always watch out for are gut feelings. Following our instincts is most of the times way better than not doing so. We should try to listen to our instincts way more in every aspects of life imho.
For your particular problem I would suggest to load half of your portfolio up on alts while you are holding the other half in ETH.
186  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will help bitcoin reach 20k again? on: January 12, 2018, 07:36:35 PM
I guess the only thing that will help Bitcoin to reach those price levels again is patience by its holders. The lack of patience that many new traders are bringing in is hurting Bitcoin. With a little time, the markets will sooner or later reach new heights as far as Im convinced.
187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO is new way to get Free money? on: January 12, 2018, 07:30:42 PM
Well, as the coins or tokens that are issued via ICO's are created out of nothing you could say that its "free money", but as people are paying real money for the coins they are assigning a value to those coins. As with every community currency its value is given by its users and their trust in it. The same goes for fiat currency, only that fiat is backed by the governments and the central banks. But we must keep in mind that fiat can be created out of thin air too (every loan that a bank gives out is basically the creation of new money where the bank only needs to have a small fraction as a reserve. Concluding that every money is basically "free money" as long as people are assigning value to it and trusting in it.
188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TenX: Making Blockchain assets spendable on: January 12, 2018, 06:01:35 PM
So, in that case, I ordered my TenX card yesterday. How long will it take for it to get issued and arrive?
Unfortunatelly, you could not withdraw nothing from TenX card, because Visa has blocked withdrawal from them or do you plan to use TenX card as a wallet?

I wasn't aware of that, at the moment of ordering my TenX card. So at the moment even if you have TenX card no matter who issued it, you can not use it, nor for payments, nor for withdrawing nothing?

yep, you can´t. i transferred my btc away from its wallet already

So is TenX dead or what?

Oh really? Darrrrn. So I missed this completely. So after waiting for the card it wont even work.. thats pretty bad. I guess I will then also transfer the BTC that I deposited already in the wallet away until this is fixed and the cards work again.
189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2018 seems like a good year for ALTCOIN on: January 12, 2018, 03:31:25 PM
From the looks of things other cryptocurrencies are really rising this year
Look at Ripple it is second on the marketcap

I think that 2018 will be an overall good year for cryptocurrencies, but we also need to keep in mind that after a bull market like this there will sooner or later be a bear market as well. Maybe even in 2018. Im expecting that the bull run on altcoins will continue until may/ june 2018 and then a bear market for alts will start again as it was the case in 2017. Well my chrystal ball is broken at the moment, but thats my gut feeling. Time will tell how markets moved in the end.
190  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is It advisable to quit my present job for bitcoin? on: January 12, 2018, 03:28:59 PM
Well, if you feel confident enough to make a living with Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies this might be an option. But only if you already have enough funds on the side. But if you are not a pro trader and dont really know what you are doing and just speculating on the markets to grow more and more this might be a really bad idea. A decision like this has to be thought through from all angles. Its something that can be life changing and backfire badly if something bad happens to the markets for some reasons. This said, do whatever you please! But think before acting.
191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Be patient for your profit on: January 12, 2018, 03:26:33 PM
The best advice that can be given to anyone new to crypto. Patience is the most important thing in this space. Everyone should realize how important this is, as investing isnt a fast in fast out thing. Ask anybody that is into investing and tell him that you want to see big profits within days and they will probably laugh at you. Obviously many people that are in this space and call themselves "investors" have no idea about the matter itself and how investments work usually. I hope that the markets will slow down at some point and will make people come to their minds again. We should all invest in for the long term is my opinion.
192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: 🌟🌟🌟🚀[ANN][04.07] ICO Starta - Cross-Coin Venture capital on the blockchain🌟 on: January 12, 2018, 03:23:10 PM
Well, I cant say that Im pleased with the development of the Starta project so far. Not to mention the lack of communication by the team. I have invested a big percentage of my portfolio in this ICO and have yet to say that the whole project did not come near to my expectations. As the price did tank a lot and is only now at the ICO price (but only in terms of usd value) I would have expected the team to at least try to communicate with the investors and to try to get listed on other exchanges to have more exposure.
By the way, the last thing I heard was that Starta did receive quite some tokens from the Snovio ICO, but none of those were shared with the investors. Well, good on the team, Snovio made x50 already.

Well said. But we also don't know their exact strategy on cash out those tokens they got from the projects.

In my opinion the best thing that they could possibly do would be to share the tokens directly with the Starta holders. In proportion to the Sta tokens one holds. I dont see any sense in selling the Snovio tokens after the x50 (besides of more money for the Starta project) and then telling us that there is a token buyback, because this buyback doesnt reflect on the price of STA and therefore wont benefit us as holders. I guess as soon as the buyback drives the price up a bit, people will start to sell to get their initial investment out again, then price will drop again and so most of STA holders wont benefit at all from the Snovio tokens in the end. But maybe my opinion on that is totally wrong. If so, please tell.

I must admit that you used very nice words to describe the current situation. You are a real gentleman.
I will write only that Starta is my worst investment in 2017.

Yes, I used nice words. Guess they already have a lot of harsh words to hear in the telegram channel. Everytime I take a look in the channel Im amused. You summarized it the right way, Starta was my worst investment in 2017 too, by far the worst. However as Im not willing to sell at these levels Im still holding and hope that this will be worth it in the end. Time will tell.
194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Kraken Exchange Down for Maintenance on: January 12, 2018, 01:28:32 PM
The site has been down for some time without warning or a time frame. Why do they not give a warning to their users? This is somewhat disturbing. I'm hoping they fix whatever issue was causing the site to give an error during random times preventing use of the exchange.

https://www.kraken.com/

Anyone know anything about it?

As far as I know they have sent out a warning via their official channels. At least thats what I read on the Kraken thread in the forum. But I agree that the communication for things like this has to improve. I was really lucky that I just in time withdrew the money that I needed from Kraken. The next day I tried to access the website I couldnt anymore. I still have fiat sitting in there, so I hope that they will be quick with the site maintainance.
195  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: $100 in 8 coins each, hodl for 1 year on: January 12, 2018, 01:24:49 PM
Cool, I like those kind of experiments. Ive actually something similar going on. I have made a portfolio with $5 investments in the top 25 cryptos and am just letting this investment sit for the next years, whatever happens.
I cant really predict where we will be at next year, but I can see your portfolio easily be trading at x10 in a year from now. Well cryptomarkets are unpredictable and sometimes they are just crazy, so maybe you will end up with way more than that. Or less than the initial investment, who knows?!
196  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: KFC to accept Bitcoin! on: January 12, 2018, 01:15:32 PM
Well, if KFC would accept Bitcoin worldwide it would have a huge impact, but as long as this is only some KFC's in Canada I dont see that change much. However I dont think that many people will make use of this service as long as Bitcoin transactions are so slow and fees are that high. Maybe with lighning network released this can be an option, but before that, I dont think so.
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Telegram ICO (TON) on: January 12, 2018, 01:08:44 PM
So far Im not really convinced that this ICO will really happen. Durov has stated that its a possibility that Telegram could do this, but its not yet officially announced or anything. So before he does so, I would not count on it. But if he will conduct this ICO, this will likely be one of the biggest, if not the biggest, ICO in history so far. After all Im in love with Telegram, was already in love with it way before I entered crypto and now experienced the whole spectrum of what its capable of. Definitely my favourite massaging app up to date.
198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you are weak get the hell out of Cryptocurrency. on: January 12, 2018, 01:05:03 PM
If you are weak and scared and you are easily prone to FUD please do us all a favor and get the Hell out of this line of business. This is a man’s game so either man up and grow a pair or get the hell out of the game.

True, true. But everyone has to learn patience after getting involved with crypto trading. The first time it will be, or has been, hard on anybody, to watch the heavy fluctuations that we witness in our precious crypto markets. However OP is right, if you cant deal with the volatility and are easily manipulated by fud, this space isnt for you.
199  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: what are the best exchange sites? on: January 12, 2018, 01:02:53 PM
At the moment Im only using Binance for crypto to crypto exchanging. Sometimes, if there is no other option, Im also still using Bittrex and if nothing helps even smaller exchanges like Liqui. But for BTC to ETH trading I would just stick with Binance. For me its the most convenient exchange at the momemt. I also use the Kraken exchange when it comes to trading with fiat, but its website and trading interface performance is really bad at the moment. Not really comparable to the smooth experience on Binance.
200  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This guy has lost 103 Bitcoins on: January 12, 2018, 12:59:45 PM
Oh boy, this is really must hurt. 103 Bitcoins is a fortune with the current prices. But as life plays like this sometimes, there is no good in regretting things like this, there will come other opportunities. Hope he learned his lesson from this huge loss. I still hope for this guy that he will somehow be able to recover his wallet file.
