1181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: ANN [PTOY] Patientory Healthcare on the Blockchain on: December 07, 2017, 12:25:33 AM
Alright ouch, that doesnt sound good what I read here in this thread. I am still holding my PTOY, but only because it was my first ICO ever. I wont leave that alone. Even if the fud in this thread becomes a reality and I loose all the money in the end. But if not, I will maybe be one of the lucky holders that stayed with Patientory.
Actually those fudders are successful in bringing the price down but let's take this as our opportunity to buy PTOY at a low price, we are believers and we believe that there is a process for everything so we can expect they will deliver if not now maybe next year. Keep the trust up so you can accumulate more with the low price.

As I said, this was my first ICO ever and therefore Im not selling, but I certainly wont buy more PTOY until there is something delivered. I dont like to speculate on things that might be done somewhere in the future and I already have big enough bags. So far I cant see any development happening myself, besides of the negative comments that I read here.
1182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: December 07, 2017, 12:20:53 AM
This kitty thing does really congest the ETH network. I am pretty scared that now as this kind of thing was invented, there might be copyCATS that come up with similar things and then the network will be fully unusable. Im really scared of the consequences this might have for the whole space, this definitely shows the limits of the ETH network, so my question is: isnt there somehow a way to restrict these kind of dapps from being connected to the network until there is a solution for the scalability?
1183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] QRL - Announcing the Quantum Resistant Ledger on: December 07, 2017, 12:08:36 AM
I bought some QRL earlier this year and am holding it in my MEW wallet. When the mainnet is launched, there will be a swap to our real QRL coins right? At what ratio will that be 1:1?
1184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] Minexcoin - A new era of payments (Exchange launch - November, 1) on: December 06, 2017, 11:58:58 PM
I see that there are many folks from Russia in this team. Can someone explain this?
I  think that the surnames are mostly Ukrainian. And if the Russians are behind the project - what's wrong? And Vitalik Buterin is the Rus so standing behind the Ethereum. As you see, the Russians are very smart and honest people.

This is the overall trend in ICO's, eastern european countries as well as russia did pick up the ICO model way faster than any other countries did. Now western european countries are slowly following. I guess this was also enhenced by the governments of those countries, that rather embraced the new funding model and the blockchain tech in general than to push it away.
1185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Bitcoin was centralized? on: December 06, 2017, 11:49:23 PM
Actually, I was discussing this issue with someone lately. I was also thinking no, thats not possible, but he kind of got me thinking... this might be the only way for Bitcoin to survive in the future, because if there is no control and interference by the governments at all it would be likely that they prohibit Bitcoin globally and that the Bitcoin value therefore would drop hard. We were discussing this because he thinks that BTC cant be decentralized forever.
1186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PIVX] - PRIVATE INSTANT VERIFIED TRANSACTION - POS 2.0 - ZEROCOIN PROTOCOL on: December 06, 2017, 09:00:53 PM
Im eyeing on PIVX since some time now, but havent decided yet if I want to invest or not. Can someone tell me what makes PIVX a good investment? I know that it is a privacy coin, but what distinguishes it from other anonymous coins? Hope someone can give me a quick explanation of the benefits.

I will quote EleanorZ's post from a few days ago, that points out very well all of Pivx's unique features:

Different tech. The following highlights a few of PIVX's unique features as compared to other privacy coins; it's not meant to say 'DASH sucks' or whatever; just highlight differences. I also don't claim this to be an exhaustive or authoritative list; others may have more to add.

- Anonymization: XMR (and XSPEC) use(s) ring signatures. PIVX, like DASH, uses CoinJoin. As of about a month ago, PIVX uses Zerocoin protocol in addition to the privacy features it shares with DASH. The Zerocoin implementation will continue to evolve; for example, deterministic zPiv generation will be rolled out soon.
- Block time: PIVX is among the fastest. 60s for PIVX, vs. also 60s for XSPEC, vs. 120s for XMR, vs. 150s+ for DASH. Both DASH and PIVX also use InstantSend.
- Algorithm: XMR = PoW (CryptoNight); DASH = masternodes + PoW (x11); XSPEC = full-time PoS only; PIVX = full-time PoS + masternodes. (*see note below re: PoS)
- Governance: DASH and PIVX both have masternode voting, whereas XMR and XSPEC do not. Uniquely, PIVX incorporates a 'see-saw' mechanism to balance the value of staking vs. running a masternode: The more MNs are in operation, the lower the reward and the greater the benefits of staking, and vice versa. New voting/governance proposals are currently under evaluation, with the goal of further democratization (i.e., voting shouldn't be exclusively in the hands of masternode holders).
- Supply: Currently, just under 8 million DASH, ~15.5 million XMR, ~21 million XSPEC, and 55 million PIVX. All are theoretically inflationary, but various factors will keep their supplies from increasing to infinity. For example, transaction fees on the PIVX network are burned, meaning that PIVX actually has the potential to become deflationary.
- Other features of PIVX: In-wallet multi-signature escrow; Android and (soon) iOS wallets; plans for a decentralized exchange (zDEX); support of 30 (and counting) languages; active community (not so much on BCT but on Slack/forum); reliable devs; no past controversies ala DASH's 'instamine'.

Basically, XMR goes for privacy at the expense of convenience as a currency (ring sigs are computationally intense). DASH, like Bitcoin, was the first of its kind and has brand recognition and market share despite not necessarily being the most advanced technology, and again at the expense of some convenience as a currency (slow block times). PIVX strives to build on DASH, improve on it, and incorporate stronger anonymity features (Zerocoin protocol), while ALSO maintaining convenience as an actual currency (fast block times, low tx fees, etc.). XSPEC is earlier in its development cycle, but is more or less trying to be to Monero what PIVX is to DASH.

TL;DR: PIVX is faster than DASH or XMR and, with the implementation of Zerocoin protocol, is as/more secure. It has a unique solution to community governance, and strong plans for continued development and real-world adoption.

Someone else will have to address your PoS version # question.

**edited re: Fuzzbawls' comment below.

Thanks a lot mate, this helped me out here. Great to have this direct comparison with the other privacy coins. I guess it wont hurt to invest some money into PivX, the potential seems pretty good. What I really like is the idea of burning fees and therefore the capability of PivX to become deflationary as more the the currency is used. Thats kinda genius!
1187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TenX: Making Blockchain assets spendable on: December 06, 2017, 08:50:49 PM
"You can order cards exclusively through the official TenX wallet applications" > Link

Anyone can order TenX cards, but at the moment they only ship to European countries.

https://support.tenx.tech/hc/en-us/sections/115000236871-Orders-Shipping

Thanks a lot man! I heard about the shipment restrictions already, good that Im located in europe. Do you by chance know how long it does take them to produce and ship the card if I would order one now?
1188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: As of today, Steam will no longer support Bitcoin as a payment method! on: December 06, 2017, 08:37:57 PM
This is really a sad news. Steam had done a great job by accepting Bitcoin as a payment. But times have changed now. Bitcoin hasn't been a reliable payment option lately. Longer confirmations timings, Higher transaction fee isn't what Bitcoin was actually meant to be.

Last year everyone wanted to buy things with Bitcoin as it was almost free to send it and magical. But now its a store of value used to make you rich instantly:(

So true man, I just wrote something similar in another thread. You speak out of my heart. People need to remember what Bitcoin was born for. It should be used as a digital currency and not be looked at like a commodity that grows in value. Unfortunately many people forget this nowadays.
1189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin go $15000 before 2018?! on: December 06, 2017, 08:33:16 PM

Bitcoin Platinum(12/12)
Super Bitcoin Hardfork(12/17)
Lightning Bitcoin Hard Fork (12/23)
"bitcoin god"(GOD)  (12/25)
Bitcoin Cash Plus (1/2)

I guess bitcoin will go at least $15000 before 2018

I also believe that we will see $15,000 before 2018. As it seems now we could even reach this price in a matter of days. The market is really crazy at the moment.

But what is it with all those hardforks, I dont understand why they are useful? How does this help the real Bitcoin? Look at all those names, sound all like jokes to me.
1190  Economy / Speculation / Re: Lightning Network was tested on mainnet today! on: December 06, 2017, 08:28:47 PM
As long as bitcoin is only looked at as a commodity and nobody is willing to spend their Bitcoin, also lightning network wont change much (besides of hype and therefore price increase). People need to remember what Bitcoins intention was when it was born. We should stop looking at Bitcoin as a commodity and start using it as a currency, then lightning network will be able to enfold its power and bring real benefits. Just my two cents, but I think this is important.
1191  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoins speculation for 2018? on: December 06, 2017, 08:24:54 PM
To be honest, I hope that Bitcoin wont exceed the $15,000 range in 2018. This sharp price rise cannot be healthy for our space, I think we need a slow organic growth driven my widespread adoption. What we are witnessing now and probably will continue to witness when price keeps soaring up this fast is just pure speculation and big players playing the market. Bitcoin was intended to be currency that is used, now it has become just a  commodity.
1192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EMC2] Einsteinium | FUNDING THE FUTURE WITH THE FUTURE OF CURRENCY on: December 06, 2017, 07:32:25 PM
hey guys .. i have 7000 coins emc2  purchased a long time back ..... right now in a state of panic ... dont know whether should sell it or hold it

Hey, congrats on your profits! If you are uncertain what to do, I would advise to sell half of your stack or even three quarters and then buy back in if there will be a correction anytime soon. Thats how I would do it. Cheers!
1193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin really secure? on: December 06, 2017, 07:27:09 PM
As far as I know Bitcoin and the blockchain in general is secure for now, because there is not enough computing power to break the encryption. This could change in the future with quantum computing, but for now, its secure. There are a lot of people (smart mathematicians and physicians) in the field of encryption researching this technology and trying to break the encryption somehow, but so far noone succeeded.

Another aspect of security are the safety measures that one has to do to protect his private key. If this gets in the wrong hands, its all over, because then there is no encryption anymore.
1194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] HealthTRUST+ [HT] - Securing Healthcare Data On Blockchain on: December 06, 2017, 07:20:50 PM
PTOY sucks - I like only two healthcare related companies right now... SVH and HT+.

They both have the best and responsive teams. Only downside about SVH is that you need to be an accredited investor to invest. These US laws are really crappy. Anyone should be able to invest in anything they want. That's the risk we take for INVESTMENTS!

I know that feeling, its really bad being excluded on a crowdsale for such nonsense reasons as the "protection" of normal people. Why would normal people dont know the risk of their investment? Every investment bears some risk, thats the nature of investments. Normal people should rather "invest" their hard earned money into new electronics, maybe the new Iphone X or a new plasma television, so they can be fed with more nonsense that keeps them down. Thats disgusting, but the law is like that, this doesnt only affect US investors, there are other countries too that have similar laws.
1195  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] HealthTRUST+ [HT] - Securing Healthcare Data On Blockchain on: December 06, 2017, 05:45:19 PM
Admittedly, I do hold a personal grudge with how Patientory has turned out. But you are absolutely correct about bashing other projects. I will keep this ANN strictly limited to HT+ and not talk about PTOY's shortcomings.

No problem with that, I can imagine how someone working in the field must feel when some people that have obviously no expertise are claiming to disrupt the sector you are working in. This was just a general sidenote that I usually dont like when projects bash on the competition, but in this case you are welcome to continue, I also experienced the shortcomings of PTOY and know that you dont just bash them for no real reason.
1196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What the hell are Crypto kitties? on: December 06, 2017, 05:33:57 PM
Don't think CryptoKittens were made with purpose of showing Ethereum scaling problems. It sounds too much like some crazy conspiracy theory to me. Nevertheless, I was totally taken aback. I was of course totally aware (like everybody else I suppose) that Ethereum has its limits, and those has to be addressed in the future if it wants to take its position as new fintech IT infrastructure. Yet, I thought we still have a year at least before we hit a wall.

Now it is a little bit scary, as congestion is again rising. It really screws over some good ICO's right now, and the worst is the fact that there is really no other solution to the problem except to wait till the CryptoKittens hype (and traffic) will go down. Just sit and wait... annoying... I am also suprised that market didn't react and ETH price didn't went down.

Okay, thanks for answering to my question. I got a transaction still stuck since more than 24 hours now.

As you said there is nothing to do about it then wait for the hype to settle down, what is going to happen if the hype does not settle down or if now as something like this came up more people would start to create something similar, wouldnt this lead to a total congestion that could possibly kill ethereum? This scenario really scares the shit out of me.

Isnt there a way to restrict such dapps somehow while Ethereum has no solution for its scaling issues?
1197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: YoBit.Net - CRYPTOCURRENCY EXCHANGE & MultiCoin DICE - Free Coins every 1-24 hrs on: December 06, 2017, 05:10:06 PM
Can someone tell me, where is Yobit located? I usually avoid smaller exchanges and only use them if I have to, but still only if they are located somewhere reachable. So please someone kindly answer me that question.
1198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: EtherDelta - Decentralized Token Exchange on: December 06, 2017, 05:08:29 PM
We certainly need another exchange for ERC-20 token exchanges. Etherdelta seems to have a monopoly on these.

I dont think that the current problem is related to etherdelta only, but you are right, some more services like etherdelta would be nice.

I think the problem is not at EtherDelta at all. I now found out that there is this kittens game that is congesting the Ethereum network. Seems like this is the reason for EtherDelta to be that slow.
As for other services like ED, there is already IDEX working that provides kind of the same service as EtherDelta.
1199  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: SONM speculation on: December 06, 2017, 05:06:14 PM
We all expect it to get listed on bittrex. If it can do this, the rest will be relatively easy to predict. They have lack of trading volume and activity. They can't atract new investors. That's the problem for sonm project.

Agreed, thats the problem, its hard for new people to get in. Although the binance listing already brought a lot better trading volume to SONM. ETH wise we are currently almost hitting ICO price again, that is really nice to see, after this long holding in loss. I will still hold though, Sonm will be a great project if they deliver in 2018!
1200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [ZRX] 0X Project Speculation on: December 06, 2017, 05:01:54 PM
I think that 0X Project is one of the nicest ones around. Everybody who sells this tokens didnt do his research properly. I think this can go at least to $1 in 2018, maybe much higher as well.
