1844  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Remembering the earily days of mining... on: July 27, 2020, 09:34:34 AM
if you look through mining posts around the 2010-2011 timeframe there are some truly amazing pics of setups. hundreds of gpus just stacked on sagging shelves from the sheer weight. a lot of pics gone in that thread but it was some awesome (and scary) stuff.

You referring to this old thread? Pictures of your mining rigs!.

Yes, it's a thing to behold, Lol, some of the images are no longer loading, but there are still some that we can droll all over. And there's also a video there, someone uploaded it to Youtube and you can really here the noise and how loud it is if you are mining in your room.

yup thats it. thanks!

still enough pics there to stare in awe and wonder. talk about fire hazards and such. modded my own ribbon risers with aux power soldered into the cable. but moon baby, moon!

and i only had a few machines and like 5 gpus. wimper

Q10 is the most interesting question at this interviews.

Can some one in this thread please write what this is as I do not know what it is.
So I won't google it to just give a flip answer here.

OMG. It's really unbelievable. 4 active veteran member of forum said that they doesnt know anything about DeFi. I'm not sure about DeFi platforms can survive or cant. But not knowing anything about DeFi is realy interesting.  Shocked

been here since 2011. never heard of it either.

^^

i can see a new hobby for me. i have like a hundred old hard drives (literally.. maybe slightly less but not by much). plus a nail gun that uses .22 blanks (nasty kick that thing has) and several sledge hammers.

once im out of the hospital from getting broken bones set and the the random hard drive pieces removed from my body ill try to post pics.
1847  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 26, 2020, 08:58:18 PM
observing $9.8k USD at that unnamed place.

looks like a good day

Why would you do that?

1848  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How my bitcoins were nailed down in my grandfather's garage. on: July 26, 2020, 04:32:39 PM
check out the heavy duty nail guns used in construction. some are pneumatic (used in framing a lot), some even use .22 blanks to drive nails into concrete. nailing through a hard drive is no problem.

OP said "hammered", which kinda implies a hand-held hammer but perhaps you're right. I've seen a Ramset in action, that thing is savage. Also insane to use on anything other than prescribed materials (like a 2x4 to concrete) but we're talking about someone allegedly thinking that a hard drive is a tool holder so fair game.

i can picture some poor sod holding the nail while grampa swings some huge 20 pound sledge hammer at it.

dunno which would be more fun to watch. well maybe not fun exactly.
1849  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: July 26, 2020, 03:20:51 PM
Many have advised me that its a lost cause but if I was not wrong at their peak 15k pricing....  every miner in the world were dusting even their oldest & powerhungry GPUs to work

my ATI HD 4850 may ride again?  yes! it made my 1st coin back in 2011.

heck maybe i should try to get it up and running again. dunno what software would even support it anymore.

I believe they have some thing on their feet and local police checks them. Every country have a system made fro people to serve from their homes. Of course that are fro those that are not dangerous and probabyl allready sit part of their sentence. You should google about it to see how is organised in your country.

those ankle bracelets? i doubt they have enough to go around if they go hog wild releasing inmates. even the just non violent ones. im not too sure how robust the system that tracks them is either. at least in the usa anyway.

Nice pump, we need to close one day at $10000 per BTC though, then maybe we can start to prepare for launch.

merely $10000 USD at the end of the day? why so pessimistic?

edit currently 9.88k USD at that place

im sitting here trying to imagine what tools you can hang from a hard drive nailed to a wall. and i thought i had a pretty good imagination but im drawing a big blank here.

First I'd like to see how one can drive a nail through a hard drive. Not sure what kind of drive we're talking about but I just looked at an old 3.5" drive and I wouldn't know where to start with a nail. Solid steel cover on one side and thick aluminum shell on the other.

check out the heavy duty nail guns used in construction. some are pneumatic (used in framing a lot), some even use .22 blanks to drive nails into concrete. nailing through a hard drive is no problem.

if the platters are undamaged (unlikely) data could possibly be recovered as others have said.

Giving your name, address or even your contact number is reasonable but asking for your bank account is beyond the limits already. May I ask what website you signed in? For us to verify if it was legit/reputable or not.

I understand if you feel uncomfortable right now. Good thing you seek advice here first Smiley.

many link their exchange account to their bank account to make it easier to buy/sell. press the button and the money is there in your account (or taken from it).

coinbase is one such place that does this, so does gemini. both are legit exchanges.

So what are you, an asset or liability?

mostly a useless observer. but thats a pretty good way to learn.

i would hope most users would notice the computers cooling system ramping up for no particular reason. although most of my systems noise levels under load are generally the same as idle with my setups as i over build cooling.

although i imagine there are ways a smart programmer could hide this (use a fraction of processing power perhaps)

In the meantime, how about some you guys tell us, how you really felt.

its kinda like watching paint dry.
