1861  Economy / Economics / Re: Would any government allow foreign currency to circulate in domestic economy? on: May 31, 2015, 01:26:13 PM
Yes, there is a big list of countries which do just that.

1862  Economy / Lending / Re: Need small loan! [0.1 BTC Needed] on: May 28, 2015, 05:00:20 PM
Sorry Kyle. You won't find much success here.

Ignore the sob stories that users post - it's just a scam to get your coins.  If a person really is in such a situation, they can turn to family, friends or other social circles they frequent.  They are just posting in our community because the payment is anonymous and irreversible.
1863  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does martingale really works? on: May 27, 2015, 12:50:05 AM
Gamble is just luck Smiley
yes, but i doubt if gambling is just about luck
we also must be smart to read the pattern ...
if we know the pattern that will come out then we could minimize losses.. i think so

man, there is no pattern from what i observe its more like of a math and some little touch of luck.

That is correct.
Bets are usually memory-less.
ie, the probability of the outcome of a bet doesn't change with past history.
1864  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best or safest way to store coins? on: May 26, 2015, 01:55:40 PM
It really depends on how many coins you're storing. No point in doing a lot for something worth little value.
I'd say best it to generate keys offline and print/write out the paper wallet.
Put it in a fireproof box and lock away somewhere or put in a safety deposit box somewhere.
Coins are good but you have to be careful as the keys have been generated by others.

Bitcoin can appreciate in value, really quickly.
No point in being lazy about security.
1865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who here has read 'Digital Gold' by Nathaniel Popper? on: May 26, 2015, 01:54:13 PM
Not that I care, but from this discussion you could conclude that the book is obviously filled with FUD & misrepresentation of Bitcoin and its blockchain. Personally I feel purchasing it would be a waste of time, energy and money. This is at least from what I've grasped from the topic.

From the previews that I have read, the book seems to have a nice background of the players in the bitcoin space and how Bitcoin has evolved.
I plan to sit down with it sometime soon.  Smiley

1868  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "In 5 or 10 years I think every online retailer will accept Bitcoin." -Gavin on: May 25, 2015, 04:41:14 PM
The best decision for any retailer would be to have as many possible ways of accepting payment as possible.

Yup. If he decides on passing any savings on transaction costs to bitcoin users, Bitcoin will be the most popular payment option.
1869  Other / Meta / Re: MY ACCOUNT GOT HACKED on: May 25, 2015, 04:39:26 PM
So, if I didn't received that kind of email. It's mean that my Bicointalk account is not got hacked(someone know my password) right?

It means you haven't checked the email account associated with your account, or you have given an invalid email address.
1870  Economy / Economics / Re: money laundering on: May 21, 2015, 01:18:39 AM
I played around with it, and then my computer crashed, and I lost my keys  Grin
Them I tried to call Monero Bank for them to issue me new keys, but I couldn't reach them  Cheesy

If you have paid your taxes, they really won't bother.
If you owe the tax department money, they will sell the shirt off your back to recover their dues.  Tongue
1871  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin wedding rings! on: May 21, 2015, 01:16:03 AM
I like the idea for jewelry, however I would want to see better quality workmanship.  It wouldn't need to even be gold.  An attractive metal like copper could be used.

A ring with a slot to save the private key would work just as well.
I don't know what to make of this particular ring.
1872  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum 2.1.1 - Synchronizing on: May 21, 2015, 01:11:06 AM
I use the executable electrum version on windows.
Previously, I had electrum 1.9.8 and I recently downloaded electrum 2.1.1

When I started electrum 2.1.1, my wallet was synchronized and my address labels were intact. Now when I try starting it, it says "synchronizing....". When I try to go to the Network settings, electrum hangs.....

Any way to solve this?
1873  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lamassu BTC ATM in NYC works OK on: May 20, 2015, 02:58:11 PM
STIFF 12% premium over BTC "spot".

If sales do take off at this ATM, you can be sure that there will be competing ATMs opening up with lower premium.
You can trust the free market to take care of this.  Smiley
1874  Economy / Gambling / Re: Are there any chess sites that allow people to bet with Bitcoin? on: May 20, 2015, 02:54:20 PM
Nobody likes to play chess in Internet, and even more so with money, because there is a lot of bots. Sorry, but it's very discouraging.
Actually there are ways which people can use to avoid Bots in play. Captchas are one way that might be done after every few turns, but it does get really annoying then.

Usually, chess engines analyze a player's moves and can flag suspected bots.
But in the end, there is no sure way of checking if a person is cheating or not.
1875  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting On IPL on: May 20, 2015, 02:51:34 PM
Gayle is playing steadily. With big guns slotted to come in after this, RCB are looking strong now.
Is there any place where odds are updated continuously?
1876  Economy / Gambling / Re: New Huge BTC Gambling Platform Coming Soon on: May 19, 2015, 01:35:27 AM
I presume you will have a faucet, to allow people to familiarize themselves with your site.
A bot to automate people's betting strategies would also be nice.
1877  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there an actual Bitcoin bank yet? on: May 19, 2015, 01:27:25 AM
The point of bitcoin is to be "against the banks", look at some of the core principles and its opposite of bank. Transparency, you actually OWN the money, you manage it. Operating a bank that pays interest would part users from their btc, and the bank would likely run away with the money, because who has the time and money to pay interest for free.

If that is your logic, banks should be running away with fiat as well.  Tongue
