Not seeing it. The above claim is that I somewhere stated that "I am involved in every existing bitcoin business". Citation still needed.
2062  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitinstant brokering extortion threats? on: September 09, 2012, 01:53:50 AM
We have nothing to hide, and we should all be extremely proud of Bitcoin. Look where the last year has taken us?

There have been ups and downs, but overall we are alive and kickin!

Let them try and shut us down.

...We are more than a community...WE ARE BITCOIN!
"Eww", no. You're BitInstant, a for-profit corporation. Bitcoin and the community did not attempt a publicity stunt that associates it with blackmail against a Unites States government official, BitInstant did. Don't drag us into that decision by calling "us" a community. Thank you!
2063  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitinstant brokering extortion threats? on: September 09, 2012, 01:46:31 AM
According to Matt's own words he is involved in every existing bitcoin company Cheesy

Needs citation.

What Erik says on this forum, even when speaking personally, is in line with BitInstant
Lol. Charlie, that wording was very poorly chosen. Some people might read that as him being a paid shill. I don't think you meant that  Shocked

As long as everyone has a sense of humor.

~DonShrents

It won't work then. Me and a few other people need to have a sense of humor for it to work. The rest can keep flinging feces at each other over imaginary coins, and due dates.  Cheesy

It reminds me of nerds passionately arguing over a game of magic or D&D.

You're gonna use your elf spell #43! That's cheating! You're gonna cheat! I'm not playing anymore! MOMMMMYYY! SCAAAMMMM rofl

Glad to hear it!

Welcome back Atlas. Did Bane Capital get old already?

Someone remove Matthew from the door! Wink.

*gives Matthew friendly shove*

Welcome newcomer! Come on in, have a cookie!

Lol. I'm sorry, but you have to admit, his name perfectly fits Atlas' highly predictable naming style.
2067  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussion about 10,000BTC Bet (Official) on: September 09, 2012, 01:05:56 AM
Well, so be it.

I for one would LOVE to see everyone's bet money, waiting to pay Matthew.
I would also LOVE to see who has WHAT at stake, out of everyone commenting here.

Most of the people that took the bet with Matthew couldn't pay on the spot, even if they wanted to.

Most of the outspoken people, on the Pirate situation, don't even have an iron in the Pirate Fire......

PATHETIC.
I'm surprised all those people lost money and no one has the FBI on pirates tail...it's a crime across many state borders I'm sure!

Oh, and I only put up BTC5...not because I couldn't have bet 100x more, but I felt guilty taking advantage of someone who seems a bit idealistic, naive, and mathematically inept...but generally a darn decent fella who happens to get stuff done for Bitcoin...

I appreciate the accurate profile (including math herp derp). I wonder how long it will take the trolling sockpuppets to realize I'm not leaving anywhere irregardless of the outcome of the bet.
2068  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussion about 10,000BTC Bet (Official) on: September 09, 2012, 01:01:19 AM
Ah. A new strategy. I am almost certain that the constant barrage of insults and such will force him to stick around here and pay everyone.

I love the tactics. Keep them up Wink

Hehe. You don't get it do you? I'm letting them dig themselves deeper in their accusations because it will make proving them wrong so much sweeter. Even people like DeathAndTaxes whom I normally would think as intelligent seems to have been reduced to a barking dog. Tgey actially think I'm worried. Trust me, the popcorn supply is abundant on my side.

Hurry up everyone! Only 15 hours left to get your opinions onto the internet before your asses are handed to you!
2069  Other / Off-topic / Re: (POLL!) Will Matthew pay out on his 80k BTC bet? on: September 09, 2012, 12:47:34 AM
This was corrected on IRC by Blitzboom. The thread was posted August 20, 2012, 12:49:20 AM KST. It's 9:44AM. As much as I'd love to go by the first mistaken deadline, the valid point that the thread OP never stated when the bet was over other than 3 weeks, so it is correct to ignore the last post and go by literal time. That means it's over 40 minutes after midnight my time.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=102918.0

Matthew nowhere on the OP did you say that exact time as you just claimed a few posts above this one.

By my standards there is non IRC log posted on this forum saying anything to the contrary of the bet deadline I just posted.

In what dimension does 3 weeks from August 20, 2012, 12:49:20 AM KST equal September 9th, 2012 at 5PM?
2071  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussion about 10,000BTC Bet (Official) on: September 09, 2012, 12:30:01 AM
Let's recap a bit from the other thread.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=101751.msg1113276#msg1113276
Quote
If he owes 100% and only pays back 90% without agreement to investors, -that- is fraud and a failure to pay back. I would obviously lose the bet.
If he owes 100% and only pays back 90% but the investors agreed to it, -that- is the agreement and therefor he has paid it back. I would win the bet.
If he owes 100% and pays back 100%, I would win the bet.
If he owes 100% and does not pay anything anything back, I would lose the bet.

I'm trying my best to be smart about my clarifications, but if you need any more clarification, please ask and give examples so I can better explain. This is all on good faith of course, I don't want to get into legal arguments "But you said if he paid back on 12oclock and that was EST not KST" and other bullshit. This is about whether he is a scammer/ponzi or not, not about whether you can cheat the system for a cheap profit.

Thank you everyone for showing a huge amount of integrity to bet for your beliefs instead of just arguing, defaming, accusing, aggravating, etc. Many of you truly believe Pirate is a ponzi, many of you are simply utilizing my offer for hedging, and still others are simply happy to take a 50/50 chance bet on anything. Regardless, we are at the 10,000BTC mark and thus I am locking the thread so that no more bets can be received here.

I still believe there is a very high chance that Pirate is just doing a business which we don't understand, and my sinking gut, although questioning his lack of professionalism, lateness, etc, reminds me that no one is perfect and it may all just be a series of bad coincidences. I hope I am right and that I am able to prove to the community once and for all that what we don't understand is not always a scam. If I happen to be wrong, I'm happy to have enjoyed this entertaining time with everyone, and I've actually made quite a lot of new friends (as you can imagine).

The original OP states that the bet ends 3 weeks after August 19, 2012, 04:49:20 PM, so that means it ends on September 9th, 2012, 04:49:20 PM KST (Korean Standard Time, local to me). I think I had mentioned a slightly longer deadline elsewhere on IRC out of confusion (September 12th perhaps?), but this is incorrect as you can clearly see. The bet will also end if Pirate has provided proof of paying back all (not 99.9%) of his obligated debts and interests per agreements, whichever comes first.

Good luck to everyone and thank you for participating in this monumental lesson for all of us.
(emphasis mine)

1 day, 18 hours, 39 minutes, 50 seconds from NOW.

8 hours, 14 minutes, 12 seconds

I love the part where people are arguing about why something happened that hasn't happened. Keep the comedy coming! (It's 15 hours left on the bet btw, not 8. This is how lazy the fudding has gotten lately. I am disappoint.)

On the timeline you gave (quoted above) it's now exactly 7 hours, 23 minutes, 45 seconds.

This was corrected on IRC and is old news. Check the thread OP and do the math.

Hehe. You're welcome!

Oh the irony of the keyboard warriors waiting 2 weeks and 6 days to research their bets hot off the heels of barking at others for investing in pirate.  Roll Eyes
2076  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussion about 10,000BTC Bet (Official) on: September 08, 2012, 03:56:53 PM
is there a last chance to raise my amount to 1000.420 BTC ?

Done.
2077  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussion about 10,000BTC Bet (Official) on: September 08, 2012, 11:57:42 AM
Matthew, why don't you prove to us you have 80k+ BTC?

Atlas, why don't you prove to us you're not Atlas?

Edit: I'll make a deal with you Atlas, if you admit that you're Atlas I'll show you I have 8.0000 bitcoins
Now this is curious.  It seems this whole "10000 btc bet" thing is motivated by a desire to teach everyone a lesson that they shouldn't pre-judge anonymous "businessmen" on an Internet forum who offer astronomical roi, and yet here we have Matthew judging BC Systems that he is Atlas - not a benign allegation.

And since MNW is challenging BC Systems to admit he is Atlas, it seems reasonable to assume MNW does not have conclusive evidence that BC Systems is Atlas, otherwise he would simply proffer it.

Am I missing something?

Hehe. What you're missing is that we already know it's Atlas. If you knew about his documented mental conditions, you'd know this is about him admitting to himself for his own benefit.
2078  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is it moral to bet money you don't have? on: September 08, 2012, 11:27:59 AM

Matthew is very likely betting $800,000 he doesn't have. Is this moral in your eyes?

Many investments are made using loaned or leveraged money. Perhaps all investment is immoral for you?

Whether Matthew has the money right now is immaterial to the morality of the bet. His actions only becomes immoral if he loses the bet and cannot pay.

Dude, you're wasting your time. This is Atlas. He's just trying desperately to get people riled up. Ignoring him will make him disappear. Watch. He'll be back on a new nickname like "Jon Mason" saying something like "Hi guys, I'm new to bitcoin. What is the Matthew N. Wright character doing with that betting thing? Seems to be shady.....I don't know if I'd trust someone like that. We should probably work on kicking him out of the community"

ROFL. Predictable trolls are predictable (and droll I might add)
2079  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussion about 10,000BTC Bet (Official) on: September 08, 2012, 11:25:55 AM
I'm not leaving anywhere

so there are two other options:

1) You pay out in full
2) You win the bet (Pirate pays everybody)

3) I lose the bet and stick around just because I'm a boss
4) I win the bet and give the money back because I'm a boss
5) Pirate is in my basement

If you are still in a betting mood my money is on 3. I want some escrow though...

Not a safe bet. He might get banned for this.

Have you or have you not ever attempted to place bets in my bet through other individuals?
