2061  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: i lost my btc on: November 03, 2022, 03:50:46 PM
i use linux i Run electrum without installing than my computer got restart, somehow to get my wallet back?

Electrum, when you create a new wallet, forces you save the seed (even clears the clipboard). So you should have the backup seed somewhere, isn't it? That should be the first to check.
Then, unless you had a Linux with no persistence, the files should be there, maybe not even deleted.

So, if neither the seed, nor the path shown by BitMaxz don't give anything useful, you should tell a bit more about what you've done there.
2062  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC, more closer bullish days ahead. on: November 03, 2022, 03:24:32 PM
What do you think?

Some show very convincing charts that show that, if history will be repeating, the crypto winter is pretty much over.
Some others come - more or less convincing - telling that one more leg down is due to happen before the trend turns indeed bullish.

What I think? Anybody can predict anything, he has a fair chance to be right Cheesy We will know for sure only after "the moment" has passed.
Clearly with every day passing we're getting a bit closer to the halving, hence to an end of bear market, hopefully.

energy prices increase

I am hoping for some months the energy price rise be visible in bitcoin price. It didn't happen, or at least not in an obvious way (maybe that's why we didn't see lower lows?).
2063  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How CEXs work? on: November 03, 2022, 03:16:13 PM
It would be interesting to understand how CEX works.

Couple of questions to start with:
Let's take BTC/USDT pair.

1. Do a CEX create a new BTC wallet for every client and keeps the keys with them? Or there is one wallet for the BTC/USDT pair?
2. What exactly happens when you buy/sell BTC? Where that BTC goes actually?
3. How they know who has what amount of BTC?
4. What about other pairs? Like ETH/USDT? SOL/USDT?

Thanks.

This was asked before, in a way or another, so I will be short and directly to the questions.

1. Do a CEX create a new BTC wallet for every client and keeps the keys with them? Or there is one wallet for the BTC/USDT pair?

Not at all. They probably have one BTC wallet for the whole system (actually two, one hot wallet and one cold wallet, but let's keep it simple).
And same goes for all currencies they allow to deposit and withdraw.
The BTC address you think it's yours is just a deposit address. As soon as somebody else needs a withdrawal, "your" bitcoins may be used, while your account remains credited.
Everything else happens in their internal database.

2. What exactly happens when you buy/sell BTC? Where that BTC goes actually?

In their internal database, somewhere related to your account, the numbers related one currency will decrease and for another currency they'll increase.

3. How they know who has what amount of BTC?

Their software checks their database.

4. What about other pairs? Like ETH/USDT? SOL/USDT?

Just in that same way, with the small side note that USDT may be a bit different because it can be sent on various chains, hence it may need multiple wallets, but let's not get confused by exceptions.

Does anyone have a good crypto wallet they would like to recommend under these circumstances?

Your best shot is hardware wallet. Put crypto in it, buy locker at the nearest bank and put it safely there.  Grin

Actually they can easily seize it from the bank's locker. So either use plausible deniability, either go for burying some washers (containing the seed, obviously; maybe using Shamir Secret Sharing) in the backyard.
2065  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: <FAKE>Clone Chipmixer Website on: November 03, 2022, 10:55:16 AM
It was discussed back in April that .online is probably owned by the same scammer as .one.
Unfortunately everybody who wants to use ChipMixer should learn to check the links from the bitcointalk ANN and use the Tor (currently chipmixorfly) link.

Probably both .online and .one malicious clones should be added (blocked) in the hosts file, together with the .xyz:

Code:
0.0.0.0 chipmixer.xyz
0.0.0.0 chipmixer.online
0.0.0.0 chipmixer.one

2066  Economy / Economics / Re: Brexit: Rejoining EU takes record 14-point lead in latest poll on: November 03, 2022, 09:31:37 AM
Democrats in the united states are the biggest supporters for war with russia and everything anti Putin.

Democrats were also the most unhappy demographic when irans general soleimani was killed.

You can try to reconcile these two observations, if you like.

You tell me things I don't know and that defy (my) logic, so I'll stop here. I feel like some political declarations are taken as real somewhere, but I can be wrong, so I don't know.
I guess we have to simply agree that we disagree in some aspects and I just don't know other aspects.
2067  Economy / Economics / Re: Brexit: Rejoining EU takes record 14-point lead in latest poll on: November 03, 2022, 09:08:03 AM
Somewhere along the line, iran may have abandoned the anti russian front. To join russia.

So you expect them being actually pro-US after all those sanctions? "No hard feelings"?  Cheesy
No. I don't expect them ever been in the "anti russian front"; at least not for real.

He cannot allow ukraine to embarrass him or make him appear to be weak.

That train has left the station.. long ago...

China and others advising Putin is pointless, unless they can offer him a way out of the war which allows Putin to maintain his public image.

They most probably have no proper solution for that.

Putin lacks an exit strategy.

Unfortunately he lacked an exit strategy from second 1. And unfortunately this can mean that the war will be dragged ... for much longer.
And since the only ones gaining from war are those selling the guns and bandages, which are private companies, not states, all the smart enough states should do something in forcing this madness get to an end. And I don't think that's possible by being friendly to Russia.
2068  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of Bitcointalk Signature Anti-Spam Campaign Managers on: November 03, 2022, 08:46:07 AM
I think you should update the thread.

The problem is that OP is also away since end of August...
2069  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Stuck transaction since June/July "still confirming" on: November 03, 2022, 08:39:59 AM
This is a duplicate of topic https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5419098.0
OP, please keep the discussion in one place.
2070  Economy / Economics / Re: Biden Administration Wants To Make It Easier To Seize Crypto on: November 03, 2022, 08:28:22 AM
Bitcoin is not the only cryptocurrency in the world.  There is also Monero (XMR) - a cryptocurrency with increased anonymity and privacy.

Plus many Bitcoin wallets offer features for plausible deniability.
Plus, it's always a very good idea to diversify if you can afford that.

There can be good reasons behind seizing money from wrongdoers. But mistakes do happen. Law can be great and can be a bitch, depending on how good or bad it's applied. Those applying it can make mistakes or can have bad intentions too, unfortunately. But with crypto there are plenty of tools, one has only to be smart enough and use them.
2071  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Stuck transaction since June on: November 03, 2022, 08:12:28 AM
I sent it from 3EkKxC1kDrJc4MvRqkXXyt7mpiA5UCLoRs on the 17th of June to 3KMzcn86gMwdY9GbsemeTKrEw8cJhS8yZc June 22 And last two since cash app changed my wallet July 4th to 34NioB5f7RiFc1nsvBg4rMQ6MXDmCPLzRq and Nov 2nd to 34NioB5f7RiFc1nsvBg4rMQ6MXDmCPLzRq

I come back to this. Since you've used the "trading wallet", you didn't send from 3EkKxC1kDrJc4MvRqkXXyt7mpiA5UCLoRs.
Since trading wallet is custodian wallet, that's probably a deposit address for you, and then Blockchain.com handles the funds there as they wish (since it's actually their wallet) as long as your account remains funded.
That's why there were those confusing transactions. At the point you've send to 3KMzcn86gMwdY9GbsemeTKrEw8cJhS8yZc, Blockchain.com should have been sending (when they've processed the transaction request) from wherever they wanted/had available funds. Just this didn't happen, there was no transaction in June towards 3KMzcn86gMwdY9GbsemeTKrEw8cJhS8yZc. And this means that Blockchain.com didn't send it.

Contact blockchain.com support and ask them why these transactions haven't been processed. They have full control over trading accounts.

This is the main conclusion.

@Kingyouree: Blockchain.com support is the only one that can help you since they are in control of the wallet. They have the private keys for the custodian "trading" wallet. They should have been sending the transactions, but didn't. Be prepared with tons of patience, since afaik they used to be very slow in answering.
2072  Economy / Economics / Re: Brexit: Rejoining EU takes record 14-point lead in latest poll on: November 03, 2022, 08:00:05 AM
As an american I was shocked and surprised when iran began throwing support behind Putin.

So Iran is pretty much the most sanctioned country (maybe after Russia, now) and you're surprised that Iran is doing all they can to enrage USA? Wow.

Aside from turkey who selected russian s400s over american F-35s, are there other *surprise* nations who will rise up to join russia?

Turkiye (no longer turkey, afaik) is playing their dominance at the Black Sea. They are playing friend / foe games with both US and Russia as it suits them best. Keep in mind that Turkiye would like to become part of EU, which may not leave them so much room for being friendly with Russia like other actual members (like Hungary). On the other hand, they need some sort of acceptance for their actions against the Kurds, which EU/US won't give, but Russia has no problems. It's tough politics there, don't be deceived.

For many years the media claimed russia was isolated and alone. Now apparently russia has friends. The narrative is shifting in ways that I do not approve of.

Actually the only ones happy about Russia and showing it are North Korea, unsurprisingly.
Some more are "friendly" because they're desperate for gas or have other political games to play, where the reality may be much more complicated than meets the eye and it's very easy to be deceived.

Maybe I'm wrong. But from what I know, even China (and Turkiye too) advised Putin calm down and stop the madness. And imho it makes sense, because Russia showing weakness means the (war) power shifting from RU+CN (plus maybe TR) towards US (plus maybe EU). Friends? Maybe. But only with (if) huge benefits.
2073  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum 4.3.2 Lost Funds on: November 02, 2022, 07:10:32 PM
Payments that send exact amounts and take no change are a likely indication that the bitcoins didn't move hands.

Not necessarily. The same happens when the wallet is emptied by thieves.

Does anyone have any suggestions on possibly what happened? I waited a few days before reporting in case there was some sort of wide-spead problem, but I do not hear of one.

It looks like somebody may have gotten your wallet seed and emptied your wallet.
I don't know how this could have been happening, but you should consider at very least that wallet compromised, so you should no longer sweep to there, instead make yourself a new wallet with a new seed.
I wrote "at very least" the wallet, since I'm a Windows user and I would reinstall everything.

How did this happen? No idea. It could be the cloud storage, it could be the HDD backup, it could be something on your PC or it could be something on the routing/transfer to/from cloud (am I too paranoid?). None seem really likely.
Lately I use hardware wallet and I keep the seed backup written by hand. Maybe it's also an idea you could use.
2074  Other / Meta / Re: We should have a "who is satoshi" subforum on: November 02, 2022, 06:39:42 PM
Answer 1.

(source: internet search, I don't know the original source)

Answer 2.

Personally I think it could be Robert Tappan Morris Jr: Made the first internet worm - 1988.

Unless a person is willing to come out and sign a message with one of the addresses "known to be Satoshi's", nobody will take him really serious.
Writing style, background and so on.. will be probably checked afterwards.
2075  Other / Meta / Re: Public request to Theymos for a name change on: November 02, 2022, 03:34:16 PM
Thanks to you and PowerGlove for your support.  I doubt any support, however strong, is going to sway Theymos's decision though--but it can't hurt, right?

Never say never, maybe he will grant you the change as a Christmas present this year!

PS. I also support the name change.

So nice! People will get some more fiat to acquire the money that matters.
2077  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum for Android + Ledger on: November 02, 2022, 11:29:42 AM
Hey folks,

Is it is it possible to use Ledger with Electrum for Android ?

best regards

Nope, sorry. If you want to use Ledger with an Android wallet, you will need a different one.
I use Mycelium exactly because Electrum for Android doesn't work with HW. But there may be other better alternatives too (I think that BlueWallet is one of them)

I have a picture I just don't know how to upload it on here I'm on a phone and don't know anything About forums or even bitcoin really..

Upload the picture to https://postimages.org/ or https://imgur.com/ and post here the link. Make sure you don't post anything that can get your money stolen.

Just look at https://mempool.space/address/3EkKxC1kDrJc4MvRqkXXyt7mpiA5UCLoRs and click "show all" for all transactions.
You've sent in 16th of June (maybe that's in my timezone though), also in 23rd of June and 2nd of November, all to 3L1p2tUHPwrRN3qgf4Hm1R73e29hFshbnp
Are those your transactions?!
2079  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Suggestions for a Good Domain Name for a Crypto Exchange, Bitcoins worth $30 on: November 02, 2022, 10:26:35 AM
Also take note that if you actually make it successfully in the end, you could just rebrand or change domains to a better one.

Plus, any name can fit. It doesn't have to have crypto, bitcoin, coin, chain, exchange and such in it. Just look as Binance. Just look at Gemini! OP can brand whatever he likes as long as he finds a domain for it.

However, I've looked up one that's free and OP can use as example for combining known words, if he doesn't have any better idea:

Code:
knight-exchange.com

6234a3ef5ae72c222a3fb6fa4d529e387a26f74b42c7668f7e7e66e1c6 is the transaction hex or Id for one of them. I looked it up on block cypher I can't push it but I can look at it raw and it doesn't make sense so confused

Blockcypher explorer gave me internal error for all the calls, so I cannot verify there. All the other block explorers I've tried cannot find that transaction, meaning that it was either dropped, either never sent (somebody was lying to you).

However, can you please confirm you are talking about Bitcoin transactions? Since until now you've just left us assume it's that. Can you also tell where these transactions were supposed to be sent from?
For now it looks like you've been lied and no transaction was sent, also clearly no bitcoin transaction is stuck.
