1241  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum version 1.7 is unable to sync with the blockchain. on: January 18, 2023, 07:21:55 PM
Take a look at the image below. It has been taken from the version 4.3.2.

Impressive. Thanks for that!

But the main issues here is how i can open the electrum at all. It's saying " not connecting to blockchain try manually running resync.cmd " now i had run resync.cmd multiple times. Is there any other way i can run it Manually.

You have to find a newer Electrum that is not so keen to sync and can run as it is.
Look at my other post and try with 1.8, 1.9, .. maybe you get lucky.
1242  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Start of a Bull Season on Bitcoin? Or a Trap? on: January 18, 2023, 05:40:51 PM
What do you think?

I find it interesting that your post comes right after there was a 1000$ drop in the price. Half of that seems to be recovered, still...
What's going to happen next is hard to tell. Clearly after big pumps some cooldown (even slight drop) periods can easily follow. Even more, we're basically still in the price range of the bear market, hence it's not that clear it's over yet. On the other hand there are voices calling that 25k is at hand and the first cooldown will be only afterwards.
So, as I said: hard to tell.
1243  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum version 1.7 is unable to sync with the blockchain. on: January 18, 2023, 04:22:04 PM
Electrum stops and shut down once i close the message.

If i try starting it without internet it says that it's not connected to a server.
And once i connect to internet. The error message keeps popping up.

After making some safety backups/copies of the wallet file (since it may get updated/modified) maybe you try your luck with newer versions, one step at a time, until you get , with some luck, to one that allows you do more with your seed of private keys.
The download page from Electrum.org has a "previous releases" link containing versions from 1.8 onwards.

Plus, I've also read that Electrum has change it seed types from 2.0 onwards, hence I guess that you'll need to recover private keys, not seed.
1244  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum version 1.7 is unable to sync with the blockchain. on: January 18, 2023, 03:50:04 PM
I have the seed symbol but i can't click anything after the error message.

What happens if you close the error message? Does Electrum stops / shuts down?!

Also, did you try to also turn off the internet before starting that old Electrum? Does that error message still pops up?
1245  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Message signing/verification tool on: January 18, 2023, 02:47:50 PM
Is there some tool (preferably an online web resource) that allows for the signing/verification of messages?

I need it only for testing and educational purposes,

Since it's not done with sensitive data, you can really just google it and see what comes out.
I don't know how good it is, but I've found now https://reinproject.org/bitcoin-signature-tool which, in theory, can sign, verify and also has git source too.

You can't sign or verify bitcoin transactions, since they are confirmed by nodes, so it's impossible to compare that with signing/verification of messages.

Well, when you send a transaction, you sign it first, don't you? While the wallet hides these operations from you it doesn't mean they are not done at your side.
Plus, I am 99% sure it's the same process of signing and verifying in both cases.
The process is described here too, but I didn't read it closely yet (I'm still scared of that elliptic curve).
1246  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum version 1.7 is unable to sync with the blockchain. on: January 18, 2023, 01:49:28 PM
Please how do i get my electrum sync with blockchain?
I have and old version of electrum wallet portable version 1.7 running on windows 11 that i had being using since 2013 till date but after changing my internet modem. I started receiving an error when i open my electrum saying
"A problem occurred when attempting to sync with the blockchain. Try manually running resync.cmd"

The worst is that i had misplaced my seeds and master keys i only have just the files backed up on my onedrive. I would be very happy if you can assist me sir.

From what I know that old versions of Electrum are not handled by the servers.
I am not familiar with how Electrum 1.7 was, but, based on the UI of current Electrum maybe you can try some things:

* one direction could be to check if you have the seed symbol on bottom-right, or in menus (wallet->seed maybe?) and try to recover the seed, which then you enter in a new Electrum (which you should verify before you use, for your own money's safety, see https://bitcoinelectrum.com/how-to-verify-your-electrum-download/)

* another direction could be to enable Addresses tab (view->show addresses) and for each funded address right-click and get the private key. Those private keys then you add into new Electrum (import addresses or private keys, see the info at the next step, ..)

If one of these works and you need more help, ask more precisely.

I will add that keeping your wallet or seed online can get your coins stolen.
Even doing this kind of operations on a computer connected to the internet is risky.
I advise you get a hardware wallet as soon as you've recovered the 0.6 BTC, then move your coins into hardware wallet's safety.
I also advise you ignore help on private channels (private messages, telegram, whatever) because they can easily lead to you getting scammed.
1247  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Fryx Finance - An open-source Monero/Bitcoin exchange. on: January 18, 2023, 01:35:03 PM
@jackmurray
I am testing out the API too for the review and I've got a problem.
I've deposited BTC. OK.
I've traded with API for XMR. OK.
I want to withdraw the XMR and the parameters are api_key, asset, amount.
So... where I put my address where I want the XMR withdrawn to? Shouldn't also be a parameter for that? Is it a bug or I'm missing something?
1248  Local / Romānă (Romanian) / Re: ATM-urile AtmBytes si BitMahavi -- de evitat! on: January 18, 2023, 12:43:30 PM

Eu cred ca anonimitatea are pretul ei. Cine are secrete -- e limpede -- are ceva de ascuns.

Shocked

Interesant.

1251  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: How secure is a brain wallet with a randomly generated password? on: January 18, 2023, 10:12:01 AM
I plan to create a brain wallet by doing the following

I think that you better skip the idea of the brain wallet. They were proven insecure for years.

Why you don't just set up a safe offline OS, maybe without persistence too, and just run from there either Electrum or Sparrow, either run there Ian Coleman's bip39 page?
Then you should have a proper HD seed to work with.

Or, if you want only to give a nice present that maybe won't be used too, you can look for a good old and reputed vanity generator you can maybe use offline (just beware, not all vanity generators are reputable!), getting a nice address like 1NfiSHBCB4qYoQZTzGe3Er5f9gb7X1hVRj, which (together with private key) you can use for some hand-made paper wallet.

In any case, I would not use printer, unless maybe if I install it from start onto that offline OS; the private key or seed should not touch systems that will ever go online.

Been sitting in this dang hospital 11 days now and going a little crazy just being able to lay here. They come in everyday doing their rounds and keep telling me it's a mental game. They have no news, just hurry up and wait. It's frustrating.

I can only guess how frustrating it is. But they're right, it's a mental (strength) game and you have to master it.
Keep your mind busy, no matter with what, TV, movies, games, bitcointalk, name it, and the time will pass easier. The busier the mind is, the less the bad thoughts and the easier the time is also passing.
And the good news will come when you least expect it. That's how it usually goes, at least in theory. I am certain that in reality it's not this easy, but you can try...
Good luck, and may the good news come very soon!

1257  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Email received from Binance, Matter of concern ? on: January 17, 2023, 04:20:16 PM
Now what is binance concerned about here? If we received bitcoin from sanctioned country or person, our account will be at risk ?

I guess that best would be to ask the support people about the e-mail.
I have no idea if it's about the source of some coins or fiat, I have no idea if it's about their so-called p2p platform. But maybe, with some luck, the support knows this.
1258  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: public master keys to addresses on: January 17, 2023, 04:14:12 PM
I am currently using https://github.com/romanz/electrs for various stuff, but unfortunately I dont find any api details anymore.

The documentation for the Electrum Server Protocol is the same as for ElectrumX, i.e. this one: https://electrumx-spesmilo.readthedocs.io/en/latest/protocol.html
Electrs most probably also follows that.
1259  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Auction house looking to add crypto payments on: January 17, 2023, 03:35:53 PM
Any suggestions would be appreciated

It depends a lot whether you want to receive at the end of the day bitcoin or fiat. Then it depends a lot whether you want it implemented locally by some IT technician or you want to just use pretty much out-of-the-box.

The cleanest solution is BTCPay. But for that you'll receive bitcoin and that needs installed/configured. However, this is what most will recommend (including myself).

If you want to receive fiat, or you want to not need skilled specialist and local hardware/hosting for it, then the option is the commercial solutions.
The problem is that they come with fees and KYC, hence not really "loved". Even more, the most known commercial solution, BitPay, has a history of supporting more an altcoin (BCH, which they even advertise as "the real bitcoin"), sometimes even imposing even higher fees for Bitcoin (but I have old information on this and I don't know whether it's outdated or not).
Afaik other big players like Coinbase or Binance may have similar solutions (but I don't know for sure).

I expect KYC and maybe some extra fees too are not a big issue for your buyers, still, you'll have to find out which service has the required reputation (this is against not a problem if you go for BTCPay).
1260  Other / Meta / Re: Why the forum keep deleting my old posts? on: January 17, 2023, 03:20:57 PM
It's not possible to delete the topics at all. The topics can be deleted only be moderatos and admins.

Without moderator engagement, normal users can only move their topics to Archival or edit opening post content to delete or ... and leave it like that.

Hmm, interesting. Thank you.
I've never needed to remove my own topics, but I've always seen the Delete button on my posts, even if they were topic starters, hence my conclusion...
