1261  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Iancoleman users I want answers on: January 17, 2023, 03:08:56 PM
If that is really existing i think that's not safe because it will become visible to those people behind who created the website, where in surely they can get all your information easily as well.. So be aware!
This is not how Iancoleman  is currently working. Iancoleman is open-source and there is nothing hidden from the users. The website creator has no access to your input.
Of course, using the online version of Iancoleman is still unsafe and you should never enter your sensitive data on an online website.

There are also already IanColeman's clones which sole reason to exist is to steal users' keys.
And while IanColeman's original is supposed to be safe, it's much better to trust nobody and make sure you handle it with the correct security precautions. Better safe than sorry.
1262  Other / Meta / Re: Why the forum keep deleting my old posts? on: January 17, 2023, 02:59:21 PM
I don't know what post get's deleted, I only know it wasn't posts made in the past week.

I'd assume that you didn't get any PM about the removed posts. And if it's so, then it means the topic was completely removed, for whatever reasons, and it's not uncommon to see newbies removing their topics after getting their answers (I failed to understand why they do that, but I've noticed that too at some point); possibly also banned/nuked users' topics can have the same fate.
However, does it matter that much?! Since it's not exactly your post that's removed, then you didn't do anything wrong.
1263  Economy / Economics / Re: Brace yourselves, CBDCs one Step Closer on: January 17, 2023, 02:41:08 PM
The American's government can just ask every citizens to convert their fiat to CBDC for now to next 7 days, if someone doesn't convert their fiat to CBDC in the next 7 days, any fiat will become worthless and can't be used anymore Roll Eyes

There may be laws, or maybe even the Constitution forbidding them do that.
In short, I think that access to money is warranted for everybody, without the necessity of hardware, internet, smartphones and so on.
And this means that even if, by some miracle, they'd be all on the same page, they still may be unable to do so.
1264  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware Wallets that work with Smartphones? on: January 17, 2023, 02:26:04 PM
Ledger Nano S - using microUSB/USB-C adapter, and Mycellium wallet (firmware can't be updated).

Blockstream Green wallet is another wallet on Android that works with hardware wallets (or at least with Ledger and Trezor), may worth adding that to the list too, especially since it's supposed to be open source.
1265  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ColdChips] Casino chips - 0.0025btc - coldkey collab on: January 17, 2023, 02:00:25 PM
I didn't manage to verify the signature with Electrum, still, the message is important and should not be ignored.
1266  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Treat your Bitcoin as if it is already Worth 10x of what it is on: January 17, 2023, 01:00:57 PM
Please treat your bitcoin as if it is already worth 10x of what it is. Therefore, if you currently own one bitcoin, which is currently worth over $20,000, or a few Satoshis, which is each currently worth a few hundred dollars, you should learn how to treat it as though it has already increased in value because it has the potential to do so. As a result, I believe that 1 bitcoin or few satoshis should be treated as a currency worth $1,000,000 or at the very least $500,000. This should be your mindset this 2023.

While your intentions seem to be good, your logic has a flaw, hence people will pick on you (or it).
If we all perceive bitcoin as much more expensive than it is, then nobody will send coins (because we may consider the tx fees to big) and nobody will sell bitcoins (not even the miners, hence they will at some point become unable to pay for their electricity).

No. Bitcoin doesn't have to be perceived as more expensive. Bitcoin has to be perceived as it is. Not more, not less. And this being said, all the safety measures will differ from person to person. One has to be very careful, according to how much he affords to lose because of mistakes or hacks. One can get hacked and buy back next day all the loses. Others.... don't...
1267  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help with P2PKH (starts with "1") address is supported for BTC on: January 17, 2023, 12:47:25 PM
Since many other cases were already covered, I've added this only to show that the possibilities are many.
Legacy vanity addresses are uncompressed addresses and they are of larger size (or maybe the vanity address generator that I have used in the past) which will make transaction fee to be higher than that of compressed legacy addresses. I think the solution to use lower fee for transaction started as uncompressed address was created. Although, some people may just like to customize their address and they will prefer to use vanity address generator for it. But there is also segwith vanity address generator.

Indeed the private keys start with 5.. however, if one wants cheap fees he will use pure SegWit in 2023, isn't it?  Wink
And for SegWit addresses I just use my hardware wallet, trading the lack of nice addresses for my funds' safety.

In 2023 there aren't many valid reasons for using legacy addresses, still, some do want them/insist for them. I am curious about OP's and also about what he actually wants to achieve, that's also why I've asked for details.
1268  Local / Română (Romanian) / Re: Criptomonede vs bani digitali emiși de Stat on: January 17, 2023, 11:39:02 AM

- criptomonedele au ca scop eliberarea oamenilor din sclavia impusă de bănci și guverne, eliminând intermediarii de încredere și facilitând transferurile peer to peer; monedele digitale emise de guverne se bazează pe intermediari de încredere (bănci), sunt concepute să înrobească oamenii, dându-le doar o iluzie a libertății, în timp ce ei sunt, de fapt, oprimați;

- criptomonedele (cele mai multe) au un număr fix de monede, pentru a evita inflația; banii digitali guvernamentali nu vor avea un număr fix, deoarece Statul dorește inflație, nu deflație , și asta se întâmpă întrucât inflația este o taxă indirectă, suportată de toți oamenii, fără ca mulți să realizeze măcar. Este mai greu de forțat oamenii pentru a accepta o taxă directă, în comparație cu impunerea uneia indirecte; în caz că taxa indirectă nu este nici măcar conștientizată, munca guvernului este și mai ușoară;

1270  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help with P2PKH (starts with "1") address is supported for BTC on: January 17, 2023, 10:10:52 AM
Where or how can I get a BTC adress starting with 1?

I have a very (!) old version of a vanity generator. It's since before the scammy ones also came onto the market.
So for the rare cases I use 1* addresses, I can also make them look nice if I want to.

Since many other cases were already covered, I've added this only to show that the possibilities are many.
It's all up to you (and your skills), to the wallet you want to use, to the amount you want to use this address/these addresses for (the bigger the amounts, the more important also the safety measures).
Maybe you consider giving more info so you can get more relevant answers.
1271  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: DuckDice.io - Pending Withdrawal - Requesting KYC on: January 17, 2023, 09:56:24 AM
DuckDice support has kindly resolved the issue. Sorry for the late closure of the thread.

I'm glad it got handled/fixed.

I recommend you change the initial post's title into
[fixed] DuckDice.io - Pending Withdrawal - Requesting KYC

This would be more fair by avoiding some people (who won't read the details) get the wrong impression.
....Just my satoshi.
1272  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Remove Your Seed/Recovery Phrase From Centralized Password Managers on: January 17, 2023, 09:45:15 AM
If there are significant funds in discussion, the seed phrase should not touch even the computer or smartphone that will ever be connected to the internet. This supersedes the use of password managers, e-mail, cloud or whatever.
I don't understand, people no longer have paper and a ball pen in their homes?! Is it so difficult to actually write down (a couple of times) 12 or 24 English words? They have to put everything onto the internet? WTF?!

1273  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bitcointalk is mafia on: January 17, 2023, 09:35:57 AM
I invite you to discuss what happened to 4 Bitcoins from here

So you are already considering us pretty much idiots, but you still expect us to read your mind and see what you see.
Let me tell you: if you expect us to read at least 15 pages of stuff in order to get what you mean, you give yourself far too much importance.

PS. Lutpin already has negative tag for shady things done in signature campaigns. Whether that's correct or not, I don't know. But the forum is more that one person.
1274  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Address reuse is simpler than alternatives and not always bad - discussion on: January 17, 2023, 09:23:50 AM
  • no need to advertise new address each time to receive transfer,
[...]
  • fewer keys to protect

OP, did you, by chance, got (or made) this list from one or more old posts about bitcoin?
While you do have a point and in some cases publishing only one address does make sense and has its uses - actually even bitcoin.org has one donation address, hence they're reusing it, the point related to the number of keys, as already said, it's outdated. Now people use HD wallets and only handle one seed; the history has shown that having wallets with a lot of unrelated keys is a recipe for disaster.

There is the disadvantage that a list of transactions is not obscured (in comparison to using a new address for each transaction) - so-called "privacy" issue on the Bitcoin network.

By using correctly multiple addresses, different parties will not know how many bitcoins one has. This is important, there was already at least one case with user complaining here on bitcointalk (some years ago) that somebody know all his bitcoins and now it's threatening him. So it's not something to be as easily dismissed as you do.

I will add that moving to new addresses at least now and then is beneficial also for security, at least in theory. If an address was used in the past with a wallet with bugs and - in a way or another some information was slipped online - using new addresses at least when going to new wallets can easily help one avoid bad surprises.

Link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5435015

Recenziile trebuie scrise in perioada 23 Ian - 5 Feb (2 sapt).

$50 in BTC Giveaway
link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5435424

In orice caz, sunt dragute.

Nu mi se pare mult (in conditiile in care MJ a platit transportul).

Oricum, multumesc.
1277  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Iancoleman users I want answers on: January 16, 2023, 07:40:10 PM
How sure are you that iamcoleman is safe? It's open source?

It's open source. But that doesn't make it safe. You never have to trust what you find running online.
This being said, Ian Coleman's page also has, at its end, link for getting the files for offline usage. And if you get those, and use them offline, on a system with no persistence or which you'll wipe (not just delete) afterwards, then you're pretty much OK.
And even so, if you are paranoid enough (which is not a bad thing) you'll read that the random used by such scripts may not be that good. And this may or may not be a problem. 99% of the cases it isn't.

Is this the answer you were looking for?
1278  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How to open channel in Lightning Network on: January 16, 2023, 06:38:49 PM
What doesn't make sense to me is that they are using Lightning Network to transfer this large amount of BTC.

Indeed, for such large amount, even sending with a "huge fee" of a dollar or two (or even ten!) it still makes more sense to send on-channel.

Also I have no idea what Hash Power on Reflection ID means.

Me neither, and it's known that scammers do make up complicated wording to confuse users (I don't know if it's the case, but it seems to be).

The company that is claiming they will send me the BTC says I am required to pay 0.59 BTC in order to receive 12.4 BTC and that the 0.59 BTC will be refunded with the transfer of the 12.4 BTC.

If one requires money from you in order to send you your money... that's 99.9999999999% sure a scam.
Just think: what on earth they need that money for?!

1279  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Lost access to coins Bitcoin Core on: January 16, 2023, 03:23:30 PM
Today I discovered that I lost access to my BTC, bought back in 2019. I know what the password consists of, but it is very long, 30+ characters. Is it possible to recover such a long password?

If you know (big) parts of it, it can maybe be brute-forced.
But how it comes you've just forgot the whole password? Maybe you can find it/recover more of it before trying more with the wallet?

Maybe you know the password, but it's just not working anymore? That can easily happen when you change keyboard layout (somebody I know had recently a similar surprise too).

I think everyone is missed with yogg alt account yogg_alt since no one have left negative feedback yet except me.

His last active was January 15, 2023, 05:09:10 AM, it means he's really aware and keep watching this mess for sure, I don't see any chance he will resolve this case since he's not making any reply.

Well, on this same page there's also the account Coldkey, also (according to the trust feedback) acknowledged as alt of yogg.
It's an account inactive since 2021, but who knows, maybe yogg finds the credentials on another forgotten USB stick...
