2061  Economy / Securities / Re: Idea for a decentralized security exchange on: October 09, 2013, 07:17:44 PM
Hey guys.. just wanted to let you know that there are two initiatives that I know of with similar goals under way.

open transactions http://opentransactions.org/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page

& especially

bitcoinx   http://www.bitcoinx.org/

I'm sure they could use your help or at least promotion if you want to see them succeed (like myself, I think a decentralized security exchange is the way to go forward and avoid the entities which all ready have a monopoly control over most of the financial system.)
2062  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: October 09, 2013, 10:16:35 AM
What's needed is a p2p exchange. Some folks are working on this, hoping their hard work will come to fruition.

edit: found bitcoinx project, gives me hope ;    http://www.bitcoinx.org/
2063  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / US gov agencies declaring war on BTC? Timing of recent events is suspicious on: October 09, 2013, 07:57:09 AM

Oh just was wondering if anyone is down for some idle speculation.

I find it a little to coincidental that SR, BTC-TC, Bitfunder, were shut down, and Bitcointalk hacked, all in a really short span of time.

It might be coincidence. But possibly could also see the timing of these events as a calculated (or at least convenient) effort to really hurting Bitcoin by having these events happen so close to one another.

If it was an effort to do so, it failed I think (those caused a lot of grief and havoc, especially for US citizens on those two exchanges)... but is a bad sign. Bitcoin would be fine without the US but of course it would hamper it's adoption at least significantly if the American gov' was very hostile to it.

2064  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BitSyncom, what compensation is planned for chip buyers/trade in customers? on: October 08, 2013, 05:06:13 AM
Ya hopefully Avalon is done now. There is just better options.

I feel for you guys, Avalon boned so many customers.  I was in the 2/3 months late batch 3 avalons and though I'll probably never break even I feel lucky that it was even shipped....hopefully those days are all done now that there are much more reliable options on the mark (or soon on the market).
2065  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] TAT.ASICMINER New Micro-share Passthrough! on: October 08, 2013, 02:32:22 AM
They haven't been transferred yet (waiting myself).

I think it may be done on the 10th, read that some palce I think.
2066  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTCTC][[ASICMINER-PT]] - Public trading of ASICMINER shares on: October 07, 2013, 09:22:16 PM
BTCT.CO is closed in this moment. I have in some BTC, could I retake them?, I didn't know that the market would stopped today.

Trading has stopped but site will be back up and you can transfer your btc out, until the 30th.
2067  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: October 07, 2013, 07:11:07 PM
Oh okay. Thanks for the update T.as.T.
2068  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: October 07, 2013, 07:03:38 PM
Did I miss something? I didn't expect the price to rise these days to be honest.

No you did not, people are just randomly clicking buttons like they always do Smiley I actually though the price will go down even more as KNC is shipping massive amounts of miners right now

Oh I thought it was because there is supposed to be a new product released today, wasn't there? too lazy to search the thread but wasn't there a timeline given with Oct 7 being the day of a product update from friedcat?

Then you have the whole matter of 500 TH of blades coming on this month and it's not too surprising that the price went up at least a little bit.
2069  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: October 07, 2013, 07:28:44 AM

yay finally back online! Smiley Anyway I'm thinking about going to Havelock, seems like a good, reliable option...

Great, good to see bitcointalk back up for sure.

I've been using Havelock recently, and I like how it is laid out. I'm still waiting for all my shares to be transferred from btc tc though, hopefully that'll be coming up soon...
2070  Economy / Economics / Re: Havelock's HIM fund share price crashing - anybody know why? on: October 02, 2013, 08:01:18 PM
Uh, no.

Bitcoin is not a house of cards. It is a more valid currency than USD in many respects.

Will the price take hit? Ya for sure, Silk Road is huge. But this isn't exactly the end of Bitcoin, that's retarded.
2071  Economy / Economics / Re: FBI seizes Silk Road. BTC backbone broken. on: October 02, 2013, 07:59:28 PM
Ya I was surprised by that as well. If dude had at least, at minimum , a few million bucks in profit, you think the last place he would want to live (& safely) would be the U.S.

Maybe he just flew how for a visit or something. If we was living in S.F than ya, he's an idiot.
2072  Economy / Speculation / Re: U.S. Debt Default Bullish for Bitcoin? on: October 01, 2013, 01:23:54 AM
I was wondering about this as well.  The default is due for tomorrow. While everyone expects them to work out a deal, who knows.  The couple of hundred of people who hold power may have more to gain personally by defaulting the whole country than then care for every other American.

If this happens then I would expect an overnight boost in Bitcoin's USD price. No question.  Though it would be a small, steady and gradual boost... not a big spike.
2073  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: September 30, 2013, 08:22:34 PM
I don't think  waiting is necessarily a bad idea. There are many unknowns currently, friedcat could conceivably be waiting for the dust to settle.

While the last 2-3 months, and current times, are pretty crazy for the amount of ASICs coming out, and with ROI windows being broken by a few weeks worth of delays, it is conceivable to imagine that things will stabilize in a further 2 or 3 months, to a point where there a much smaller range of gh/$ mining equipment.

Maybe friedcat had something like these 3 options to choose from:

option1) spent a massive amount of capital to rush to market a gen 2 product that he might not be able to sell, depending on whether all of knc, cointerra, hashfast, etc etc etc all ship on time.

option2) spend another 2 months of development time to double the efficiency / hashes of his design, and some ASIC companies are out of the picture.

option3) spend another 4 months to make assure that his design, and amount of ordered chips, will be have a profitable gh/$ ratio in addition to knowing that his product will be one of the better options available on market.

Just saying, waiting is not a necessarily a bad strategy.  Asicminer has a large amount of resources and experience.  Say they sitting on 5 million dollars, just to make a figure up. Conceivably you could spend 5 million dollars in development costs 6 months from now and still have a product that is the most cost effective when reaching market, instead of 5 million 2 or 3 months ago, when your product may or may not be a complete wash.

I don't even think Friedcat is waiting. Just saying, that there would be some merits to that. And total hashing output is important, but not as important as how much you are paying for your TH's and how fast you can scale, which is something he seems to be focusing on. It's possible that friedcat's 'gen 2' may be better one of the better than the early gen 2 products, and come out at just the right time for it to be the best option available to consumers. It's not an inconceivable scenario...and potentially better than rushing towards releasing product just as fast as they can.

2074  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: September 30, 2013, 02:40:12 AM
I have a question about the gen2 chips. According to friedcat's latest update, the order size has not been decided. Does that mean the gen2 chips has been designed and tested? If so, do we know its specification?

Possibly, for the first question. No specifications or details at all have been released.
2075  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: September 30, 2013, 02:39:20 AM
Have you seen cex.io - bitfury commodity exchange? It basically sells GH/s at ghash.io pool. Maybe friedcat could go the same way.

Huh interesting, haven't seen that site before....  I wonder how safe it is to use though being based in Cyprus...after all the crap that happened there over the last year it's not a promising place to do any sort of business that may run afoul of the banking cartels.
2076  Economy / Securities / Re: How To Migrate Your ASICMINER-PT shares from BTCT to Havelock on: September 26, 2013, 08:39:34 PM
When are the AM100 shares being transferred? No rush. Just curious...
2077  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Whats everyone doing with their GPU now? on: September 26, 2013, 08:38:01 PM
Go buy GTA V and play it with them Smiley

I wish man Smiley   PC version of GTA V  is probably 1.5 years off of or more.
2078  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Whats everyone doing with their GPU now? on: September 26, 2013, 07:26:02 PM
I sold all but 2 x 7950's.  Now I have a deadly gaming system which is cool.  But I'm gonna be mining with the cards in about another month, when it gets colder. Basically free heat for my small apartment, which is nice.
2079  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Refunding[Live-Group Buy].5BTC = 2.8Gh/s KNCminer Jupiter *11 Sold on: September 25, 2013, 10:34:11 PM
Thanks, refunded.

At long last this headache is over.
2080  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER Speculation Thread on: September 24, 2013, 05:49:07 PM
I think i will craft some options especially for you Smiley

I admire your optimism, but I'm curious, what do you think will keep the share price up after tomorrow's div of < .01?

Hardware sales will be big but most important is board statment...
yes, but we won't actually see anything for several weeks.  Until then, people have to live with weak dividends, and that might prove to be difficult for some.

Weaker dividends compared to who? I'm curious. Which securities offer better divididends than Asicminer, even at 0.01 ?
