good morning and happy new year, so what is up ? any news ?
Lots of green shoots! the volume is still very very low though, I am curious for how long this will continue... But it is going upward slowly nonetheless. Sometimes it is important to look at the microcosm as well. These green shoots are important indicators. We all feel that over the holidays things should go more quiet, and many expect things to pick up again as we go through January and beyond. But it is worth remembering that the exchanges are now playing catch up with the increased interest. That is why there are stories of waiting a long time for transfers etc. People are extra-paranoid because they are getting into "unregulated Bitcoin" and they are more nervous about exchanges scamming people, when in fact what is happening is more often perfectly normal - the exchanges suddenly have 10 or 20 times more accounts to deal with + integration of KYC + not 10 or 20 times more staff!

Although im not good at math, I do want to say that we are back in a bull market.
So at least we have some things in common!

We here have a very rare (for a random public individual) chance to front run the Street.
+1 Whatever you do realise this point. And then decide whether or not you want to sell your coins to these new, big, ugly sharks who are starting to circle. There's never been a better time to hodl in my opinion!

I thought this might require a thread of its own! I thought I'd do some more rough "green shoot" analysis and I'm pleased to say things are looking positive! Here are the green shoots for early yesterday before someone made the questionable decision to sell... And here are the green shoots for roughly the same time period today... The TA big boys might laugh at my roundabout methods, but for me this means one thing: fresh incoming transfers being processed via the exchanges!

(EDIT: Or beginning to clear the backlog built up over the holidays first, which could well be substantial)

Check out all the green shoots (vol)! Have you seen the way plants always win over concrete?

Someone is playing ping-pong on MtGox. Ping is a transaction of a few bitcoins at some price X in the gap between the highest stable bid and lowest stable ask. Pong is a similar teansaction at a price Y some 5-10 USD below X. Each transaction seems to be a small bid immediately follwed by a matching ask, or vice-versa.
There is at least one ping-pong per minute, perhaps more. The average values of X and Y creep up by 1-2 USD every few minutes. Sometimes X stops before hitting a substantial wall, while Y keeps creeping up.
The effect is to make the mean price move up steadily for many minutes. Presumably this convinces other traders to revise their orders upward, so the ping-pong can continue creeping up as the nearest sell barriers move out of the way.
This ping-pong has been going on between dumps since dec/30 at least, with some interruptions.
I believe but I may be wrong that the ping pong is a confirmation of the spread when there are no trades, but that these are mixed in with small purchases.

I wonder if these same arguments about low volume were used in May.
May, May, May... ! "Mayday" more like !

This is just speculation but it might well actually be happening. As new money is being prepared by hedge funds they don't want to pay the prices Bitcoin is heading to. The very first money is definately in already - we know that. So someone might be trying to hold things steady with a wall. But how long can they hold out against the persistent swell of interest? Thoughts...

Guys I need charts with at least this many lines, but preferably 5 times as many lines. Oh, and the moon. Don't forget the moon, and the oort cloud is required also.
Don't worry Tera, we've got a space kept warm for you on the oort cloud!

I predict one thing with absolute certainty for this weekend... There will be an exponential increase in the word "DUMP" on this forum!
|
|
|
I think some people are just waiting to see what the market is going to do before buying. They will eventually decide it is not going down any more and then jump in and another rally will begin. Or someone will dump and they will jump in and then keep the price at about the level it is at now. I think the fact that we have seen a few dumps already without affecting the price too drastically is really bullish and shows there is some great support in the 750-800 range.
Let's face it, this doesn't feel like a time to cash out does it? And as the days go by the exchanges get through their backlogs of incoming transfers and account verifications. Man it took them ages to process my KYC docs when that came in.

Vacations are not what they used to be.
Not for you and me anyway!

What's with the steep ask wall? It's a bit antisocial don't you think?
A dump is coming in the next 2 weeks, volume hasnt been this low in a long time. This rally might have had legs is if every major exchange was pushing 50K a day, but most have been 10K and under for a week or so Could it just be that most people are on vacation right now and are not interested in buying any Bitcoin because of that? I think there is less activity over the holiday yes. It seems to me like most people are content to sit tight and wait patiently for the inevitable influx of interest and money over the next 2 weeks!

I also read that one. As far as I know wall street won't be buying BTC directly but will invest in companies supporting or adapting to bitcoin. I bet my bottom Bitcoin they will get their hands on some Bitcoins though... just not mine!

A 51 on bitcoin would almost certainly result in the dramatic rise of an altcoin. Enormous profits to be made if you buy up a bunch of alts before the attack.
Do you suggest Dogecoin for example? Yes. But others will do. Everything in the top 10 would go way up. Sorry bad joke. I need to work on my sense of humour.
