1581  Economy / Speculation / Re: Warning: Huobi has closed their personal bank accounts system on: January 14, 2014, 06:23:49 PM

Looking at your short term trades recently, most of them have been spot on compared to all of the other analysis BS that I have seen. Neither bear or bull just looking to make a profit.

I am generally 80% correct on judging which way the market is going to go and the 20% of the times that I call it wrong, I am usually very quick to change my outlook. This may sound 'obvious' but many on here don't do this, preferring to be emotionally attached to their ultra bullish or bearish paradigms.

Where i am not so good is with market entry and exit.....I also have the bladder of a little girl when the winds are blowing against me and have pissed profits all down my trousers by losing nerve in these situations.

Ho ho ho!!  Cheesy Come on MatTheCat... You've been making consistently wrong calls.

Yesterday I told you to jump on board when we were around 780 on Stamp. You ridiculed me, he he! But in the short term you missed it. Just like you missed the previous drop when I tried to remind you you were being too negative and that you should up your bids.

Not trying to tease you here but you've got to get your facts straight: for the past few weeks I believe you've called everything wrong. So all you are doing now is saying that there will be a big crash sometime in the future!  Cheesy

Sorry, but ignoring the fact that chinas bitcoin supporters will have a problem to acquire more bitcoins after jan 31, is not very wise.

this is something that you can speculate on

I've accepted an invitation to do a question and answer session at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) in Washington, DC on Thursday, February 6, 2014.

I've been told anything related to the Council on Foreign Relations tickle's peoples Grand Conspiracy buttons, so I thought it would be best to be open about exactly what will happen. I hope it doesn't spark as long a thread as my visit to the CIA, but Bitcoin is a lot bigger than when I visited the CIA...

Anyway, here's the invitation I received:

Quote
On behalf of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), I write to invite you to speak to our Washington-based members as part of our Voices of the Next Generation series. This program seeks to bring together our members with fresh, young voices in the nation’s foreign policy discourse. Given your work with BitCoin, you would be an important addition to the series. In the past, the Voices of the Next Generation series has featured Esther Duflo, Abdul Latif Jameel professor of poverty alleviation and development economics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Ayman Mohyeldin, Middle East correspondent, Al-Jazeera English, and Jennifer Pahlka, founder and executive director, Code for America.

CFR is a nonpartisan national membership organization and think tank, as well as the publisher of Foreign Affairs. Among our members are many past and present U.S. presidents, secretaries of state, defense, and treasury, as well as other senior U.S. government officials, renowned scholars, and major leaders of American business, media, and nongovernmental groups.

The format of the event will be a 90-minute question&answer session, moderated by somebody yet-to-be-determined. It will be "on the record," meaning press could be invited to attend and recordings and/or transcripts may be posted on CFR's website.

The audience will be CFR members and invited guests (and maybe press); it is not open to the public. I am not getting paid by the CFR.

I speculate CCMF like my colleague macsga - always have, always will   Grin

good sell, cause whats best that can happen this week? maybe newegg takes BTC? cant see it doing much on price

considering moving 10% in to sell but its a gamble really, its not that important either.  pain in the arse having to have long term holdings i reckon.

Horrible month for Bitcoining...

China just wants to get to fk asap to allow the market to take the full force of the blow and then get back to business.

Just a couple of days ago the market was perking up and now it's having a rest we're already bored? Patience my dear chaps. Patience!  Wink

I understand that many people are optimistic about the future of Bitcoin; fine, but I am not.

For someone who isn't optimistic about the future of Bitcoin, you sure are around a lot. What are you doing? Research?

an excessively high gini-coeffcient does yield stunted economic development

But, according to the author, not so relevant in the scenario he proposes.

Special Sunday analysis for everyone

This report is aimed to cater for as wide an audience as possible: the experienced technical analyst and the layman alike.

In order to make things accessible to as many people as possible several new technical terms are used (bold red).

What is that big thing sticking out of the bubble?

Please inspect the current day chart above. After substantial analysis and hours of intense thought, the analysis team has calculated that Bitcoin is experiencing the biggest hard-on of its entire existence. Stochastic indicators show that Bitcoin is going through the equivalent in biology of uncontrolled hormone-fuelled development. But what signal can be deduced from this? It is time to prepare, esteemed colleagues, for what Bitcoin the teenager is going to do now that it is being let loose on the mainstream.

Of course we need not get into the graphic detail about what Bitcoin is doing right now with its “extended trend” to the notorious “classic bubble” chart (pictured below).

So what's going to happen now?

Some have suggested that Bitcoin is going to experience strong growth in 2014, but after much careful study we believe it would be more accurate to posit a scenario in which Bitcoin goes an an almighty rampage, the likes of which have never been witnessed even in the sickest dreams of the most fervent Bitcoiners. Bitcoin-Godzilla will lay waste to many places, including Sydney, Australia.

But what will this mean for bears and their friends?

A secret two-year project involving 1000s of man hours and millions of lines of differential equations has come up with an extraordinarily accurate explanation of the future that awaits bears and their friends. The algebra would kill you, but to help make the resultant theory accessible to all the team came up with a visual representation of the model (see bear-shark-asteroid-explosion diagram below).

We hope the Sunday analysis report was useful to you and wish you a prosperous trading experience.

THE END

EDIT: Just read the article. Actually the writer doesn't think that Bitcoin being like North Korea is a big deal. What else can I do?  Huh

Actually he doesn't comment on whenever it is a big deal or not. Despite that it is kind of important because an excessively high gini-coeffcient does yield stunted economic development.

The author's own words:

"Thus talking about the Gini coefficient might make as much sense as talking about the Gini coefficient of, a public company, which has a combination of ultra-large individual and institutional shareholders and then a series of irrelevantly tiny minnow shareholders. Does that unequal distribution matter? Eh, not that much."

Well he doesn't seem to share the opinion that Bitcoin is supposed to be or become a currency either...

That's the beautiful thing about it: Bitcoin is a multi-faceted asset - a totally new idea which no-one can try to get their head around properly without making reference to old ideas which only cover part of it at best!  Smiley
