oh wow, i need to buy this one!

Hey Goat,

I opened a spending spree thread for Overstock goods: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=407448.0

Would be great if you could help kick it off!

(We need Americans to lead this one as for the moment it's US only)

Thanks man!  Smiley
1703  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wired.com: Overstock.com now accepting bitcoin on: January 09, 2014, 09:00:44 PM

make sure you support them  Smiley

Why?
The use Bitpay... They don't handle Bitcoin themself.

Sorry, but this is not worth mentioning. Everyone can accept bitcoin processed to fiat.

Right. Because large corporations should just start immediately conducting their business in bitcoin - direct from consumer, then paying employees and other business related expenses with bitcoin. That's the only way this would be worth mentioning, right?

Good grief.

For someone who is going to be sending people to space this guy is one hell of a troll!   Cheesy

Oops! There goes that fractal!

I guess news does trigger things in some cases.

sorry? i'm not sure what you're trying to say. and please come off it with the news thing... didn't Blitz just demonstrate how that whole thing works in the wall observer thread? haha

What? Was that a post explaining that reports are pre-written and when the price moves published if suiting the movement?

That wouldn't apply in the case of the Overstock news.

Perhaps you mean something else? I haven't been checking the threads so much recently. Been working, you know!  Smiley

Seems that Overstock is already accepting Bitcoin. Wasn't this supposed to happen somewhere around the second quarter?

Ha ha!

Every time I read something Senator Tom Carper said, it sounds like he's still a little weak at the knees after the "Lovefest"!  Cheesy

“We live in an increasingly technology-dependent world, which impacts every aspect of our lives... Our government has to recognize this reality and adapt accordingly... We can’t afford to be behind the curve here.”

It's a natural reflection of virality. The situation is chaotic and uncontrolled, despite numerous conspiracy theories.

The charts only ever reflect the reality. Reality comes first. Too many charts and the analyst may begin to fear he is the creator.

Nothing to do with your work in particular Voodah - it's a subconscious mindset prevalent here!

It's not a flaw, its a feature.

Is doesn't seem like a smart move to take an unsecured bet with someone that you don't believe will pay. If you lost you would have to pay or be labeled a scammer. He has everything to win and nothing to lose. The most you can hope to do is not lose.

I understand what you are saying but in principle for me:

1. If I make a bet with someone I honour it... not because they need the money but because I keep my word or lose my reputation. An escrow is fine but doesn't change this.

2. Bitcoin was not going so low in so short a time. No question. That's why I took the bet. That's why 8 or so others jumped in also! And if China had announced banning Bitcoin an hour after the bet then bad luck for me.

Contrary to what you say TheCoinBull will lose his reputation if he doesn't pay. That's his choice to make. I'll leave that up to him.

No, I get it. You felt it was a no brainer bet. The payoff for you is watching him destroy his rep. I guess that does have, at least, a sadistic value. Schadenfreude lovers unite! lol

No. First we made a bet for Bitcoin. Then we agreed to pay the escrow. But when he apologised for getting caught in a blizzard or something  Cheesy I just told him what I thought: we made a bet and an escrow doesn't change that from my side and that's that.
1717  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 08, 2014, 10:13:12 PM
You make the assumption that he cares about that forum account's reputation more than his coins.  Wink
I'm not making any assumption. I don't care. That's his choice!

"Hi TheCoinBull.

The people you took on for the wager would like to be paid now.

Please do get in contact.

Thanks."

I'll keep this thread posted if he... er... lets me know that he wants to pay up.  Smiley
