CEO says:

“Our first purchase with Bitcoin was a $2700 patio set,” says Byrne from Salt Lake City, where the company is based. In the first 90 minutes of Bitcoin sales, the site had received about 150 orders. Byrne says the company’s rough estimate is that 1% of its sales in 2014, or approximately $13 million, will come in the form of Bitcoin. “It’s a wild guess,” he says.

Respect to the guy for his technique of locking 40 people in a room to get it up and running in 10 days!

Let's show Byrne how to, er, "choo choo, mfs!!!" (as they put it in the speculation thread)    Smiley

You're saying I should spend potential future millions on stuff which is overpriced now?

No economy = lower gains. Getting the economy going is part of the package!

I detect sarcasm in above poster's post...

Not at all! You don't have to but if you check what else I've been writing you'll see I'm not being sarcastic here.  Smiley

Does anyone know why a dog licks his own dick?

Maybe for the same reason you "fuck for Bitcoins but nobodys buyin"!  Cheesy

It's because he can!

I put that line there after I came up with the idea of my selling sexual favors for Bitcoin. That concept came crashing down on me when I got out of the shower this morning and caught my reflection in the mirror.

He he! Never mind! I guess it's keep hodling for all those Bitcoin chicks out there!  Cheesy
1669  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wired.com: Overstock.com now accepting bitcoin on: January 10, 2014, 10:52:45 AM

The owner of Overstock has pretty much admitted there may not be a huge amount of business from it...

I get the feeling he might be pleasantly surprised.

I knew this was coming, but it's here a bit quicker than I thought! Insured cold storage underwritten by trusted specialist insurance company Lloyds of London.

Laying further foundations for mainstream adoption.

"Shanghai-based BTC China, for instance, has focused on stabilizing the currency by thwarting speculation, so the Chinese government will soften its grip."

Aha. I see...

Price hasn't moved all that much in the past couple days.

Just re-instating fees will not be enough at all.

A little off topic but I think that currently sellers are over-represented at Stamp and this is having a certain stabilizing effect throughout the market. Is this is intentional... ? For me the jury's out for the moment on that one. Stamp has the best reputation for withdrawals regardless.

Over the coming weeks and months the buying pressure will increase and at some point the Chinese government is going to have to decide if the growth rate is shallow enough for them or not.
1674  Economy / Speculation / Re: What the near future looks like for BTC. on: January 10, 2014, 09:09:31 AM
I have been an BTC trader for about 2 years now. I started with 6 BTC when they were under $100 each. Then I got that up to 10 by selling hi and buying low. I have been watching the trends for some time now and I believe the market is going to drop back to the $500s pretty soon. I was reading this website that explained that BTC is going up because new investors are trying to make a quick buck with their holiday money. Once the price keeps dropping, most new investors are going to dump their BTC. Then in about April or May, the price of BTC will go back up and will peak at around $1100 or so.

I got all my info for this from this site: http://btctradingsignals.netau.net/

It's a pretty interesting read. My friend showed me it about six months back and everything they have posted has been generally true. Let me know what you guys think about my theory.

BTC trader for about 2 years already?

Why did you only register on this forum yesterday? Just weren't interested in talking until now?
1675  Economy / Speculation / Re: Overstock News, Branson News, Singapore News on: January 10, 2014, 08:52:23 AM
The price has risen 570% (or so) in the last two months. So, I don't understand the question.

The question is about news effect on price. Why did it rise 570%? It wasn't any news story that Im aware of.

Most of the price rise from $110 is due to China. There have been many news items as well but we don't know their effect in relation to China. We do not know what the true increase is if you take China out. Also, Overstock news already caused a price increase in the past, and we are simply finding out now that they have gone live ahead of schedule. So Overstock is already at least halfway priced in already before today's rise.

Well then let's watch NewEgg!   Wink

Thank you for making this point.

Without a doubt unease is seeping out of your average Joe Public Bitcoiner and into your average would-be panic-sell instigator.
1677  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Time to go on a spending spree at Overstock! on: January 10, 2014, 08:44:52 AM
Overstock seems to cost about 25% more than amazon or ebay.

Bitcoins seem to appreciate in value 100s of times more than fiat currency! Spend a few at Overstock!  Wink
1678  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 10, 2014, 08:29:59 AM

This all from a 30-day chart. So I'd say we have about a day or two more max before we move up with any significance -- and break out the choo choo memes -- again.

I've got 3 computers generating CHOO CHOO memes 24/7. You thinks that's enough?  Tongue

Wow, 3 computers. You still haven't figured out that the amount of computers means nothing?

If you wanna be taken seriously speak in kilomemes / second like everybody else, please.

I've surpassed kilomemes the amount of memes i generate cannot be named by any number.

Please don't pool too much power in one space - that could heighten the risk of a 51% attack on the meme community!  Cheesy
