I think I'll stick with the whale temple.

This lack of volatility is pissing me off. When are we going to see a drop below 500?

Get used to it!   Wink

Perhaps some hardcore Bitcoiners from back in the day might benefit from learning meditation or getting some therapy to soothe those adrenalin-fried nerves!  Cheesy
1724  Economy / Speculation / Re: Downtrend started? on: January 08, 2014, 06:45:08 PM

it's actually a very important distinction.

what the bad news may have done was turn a natural market correction into a bit of panic-selling, that's all, but there's not even any way of knowing! there's no way to quantify the news' effect on price, and that causes a lot of problems in trying to anticipate it in any real way. the price doesn't respond to news in the binary way you imagined when you used the phrase "force in a downtrend" and that's exactly the point i was trying to make.

--arepo

In any case, and perhaps off the point, but the panic element of the selling has been quite subdued from what I can see. Obviously a good thing (unless you're a trader who loves trading on panic!).

we're consolidating again, we're not going to break out of the bounds of the triangle for another (approx.) 12 hours...

also, just a heads up, after that we'll be breaking upwards Wink

What makes you say this Arepo?

1726  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Volatility trends are mostly down since 2010. on: January 08, 2014, 06:15:59 PM
With the increased "market cap", adoption and also the very significant positive market sentiment, volatility is noticeably on the wane in my opinion. Time for analysts to re-calibrate their methods.
1727  Economy / Speculation / Re: Downtrend started? on: January 08, 2014, 06:10:46 PM
Hopefully this is the last spanner in the works from China.  Undecided

At this point we have heard the worst China has to say.  There will be more positives coming on a weekly basis throughout the world.

+1 - there is a lot coming now and to come and this is why the price is so bouyant - market sentiment is actually good!

Sorry to all I was not faithful on fulfilling my BTC to escrow. Had a major issue yesterday, where I'm currently at was hit with the biggest snowstorm in over 10+years on top of artic vortex temperatures...

Hello?

CoinBull's back?

What's all this about the worst blizzard in 10 years Coinbull?

CoinBull what do you have to say for yourself?
My coins froze???
"Got ya. Crash is happening. wonder who started it" [TheCoinBull]
Doesn't matter about the escrow of course. Our honesty doesn't rely on an escrow. If by tomorrow at 07:02:14 PM (GMT +1) the price has touched $750 on GOX I will send you 1 BTC. I expect you to send me 1 BTC if this has not happened. This is all as agreed yesterday. Thanks.

I wrote the above starting "Doesn't matter about the escrow..."

TheCoinBull answered in the post (wrong side of the quote tag).

The time I quoted is right now (GMT +1).

TheCoinBull? Are you there?

1729  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 08, 2014, 05:59:46 PM
Its about 1 hour left, i suggest CoinBull should start dumping his thousands of coins to move the market.

I don't think it's one hour - I think it's in a couple of minutes!

Hold on I'll find the post...

Meanwhile, we see another dinosaur pattern, ->

We already saw this one before, on Dec 14 ->

Intriguing...

I've been seeing some unusual Batman insignia and a lesser-spotted McDonalds sign. I'll get a report together so you can see what you think...

Double bottom forming?
At least alot of support on all exchanges.

I see it too

 Cheesy

Is this your appartment? Are you checking the charts on your iPad while taking these pictures? My goodness.
1733  Economy / Speculation / Re: Downtrend started? on: January 08, 2014, 05:32:43 PM
dnaleor, come on man, work with me here Cheesy

I already agreed: the previous "Christmas trend" is broken. What I don't agree with is your pulled-out-of-nowhere claim that we'll enter a bear market for several weeks as a result. That part requires a bit more evidence, no?

+1  Be brave man!! No reason to fear a two week bear market with all this bouyant weightlessness!   Wink

Like this for example?

http://www.coindesk.com/belgium-central-bank-remains-positive-bitcoin-unofficially/

News that the Belgian Central bank will allow Bitcoin to continue as is without further regulation?

I live in Belgium and it takes YEARS for any change to be made to any policy* so this is great news. I predict Belgium with Brussels, the capital of Europe, will develop a strong Bitcoin network and community.

*EDIT: for example, Belgium has a very high rate of income tax, but you do not need to pay income tax on rent from private residential property. This means that in theory I could own 20 houses each rented out and not pay any tax on this income at all! This is something that people have been saying the government will change for years, but it has never happened and will not happen for years to come! Things move slower here in that respect.

It's all part of the waning of volatility as time goes by. We are getting a good taste of it now. I venture to suggest that after years of becoming hardened to adrenaline pumping in their veins, some older Bitcoiners might almost feel like crying. "Where's the roller coaster?!!" I also think there are big traders who've been around for a long time who will get burned this time. They have millions on the sidelines and stubbornly refuse to put it in now. They will watch the price glide higher like a balloon and their chance to quadruple, triple, double their stash disappear with it. Unless of course they can find another way...

You will be a most satisfying feast for KARHU!

He he! Get back to the Whale Temple KARHU  Cheesy

MatTheCat...

All I can say is you definately put those bid orders too low yesterday!

Eh?

You think I expected them to come in right away?

I had to wait at least three or maybe even four whole days for my last orders to come in. I am amazed that I had so much patience!

btw...you really are beginning to sound frantic and in denial. You may not get punished for your self-delusion just now, but one day you will.

Yep, even if events just happen to continue to support your rosy paradigm for now, delusion it is.

I'm not bullshitting you man.

What is happening now with this floaty volume and price gravitating up after the bubble is the result of a change in market psychology. Of course it might be fragile still depending on Chinese aggression (but becoming less fragile by the day) for example, but in its natural state it is in a whole different space than it was after previous bubbles. I can't understand why this isn't more obvious to you.

Either you come to your senses and at least acknowledge that there are two side to the coin or prepare to either miss huge investment opportunities (sell high, buy much lower) or in the worst case scenario, watch in disbelief and crippling self-denial as your wealth turns to vapour.

Bitcoin's fate is NOT a foregone rosy conclusion!

Bitcoin has gotten too much heat early on. Now, its future lies in the hands of the authorities and financial powers that Bitcoin was meant to 'smash'. If the The Man gives Bitcoin the thumbs down, then Bitcoin is fk'd, at least as far as recent 3 and 4 figure valuations are concerned which is by now, all that any Bitcoiner really cares about.

1740  Economy / Speculation / Re: Best time to invest in BTC??? on: January 08, 2014, 01:17:55 PM

Don't overcomplicate. History has taught us that BUY NOW works just fine.

except for those who bought at 1200 $

Not if they hodl and are content with anything between 300% to 1300% growth by the end of the year.
