221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Does mining in America die with net neutrality? on: December 16, 2017, 11:52:40 PM
Hey some states are taking it to count so it will take some time to go into effect an the FCC can't make it permanent law, only congress can and they don't need trump signing it either, an in 2018 when the people get control back they will make it law that IPS are a Unity if not before. an it's about to go before congress.

I would still worry because of other stuff that could stop it trump might try to pull.

http://theweek.com/speedreads/743904/net-neutrality-fight-about-move-congress

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) announced Friday he intends to force a net neutrality vote under the terms of the Congressional Review Act (CRA). "It's in our power to do that," Schumer said. "Sometimes we don't like [administrative rule changes] but now we can use the CRA to our benefit, and we intend to." Were a net neutrality law passed by Congress, it would be more impervious to repeal than the agency-level policy the FCC rescinded.

they have 83 percent of voters for net neutrality  (including 75 percent of Republicans). and I looked up that % and it was higher. it's depends what poll you look at .
...

I do think Net Neutrality was one of the VERY FEW things the Obama Administration ever did that has some logic to it.

I'm not disagreeing with you but read the Constitution with a open mind and heart then look at what trump is doing and what Obama did then it might makes sense the stuff Obama did . o yea look up the second bill of rights FDR would have written into the Constitution if he lived long enough , that explains the Constitution better, that every America can understand and our rights in plan English, what we should not see in the US because of what our Constitution says now but has never been explained in great detail.

lets see there so much you can mine with anything these  days

XMR

Zcash

ETH

any of the above is Good to mine right now with no end in site like before ....   you can mine all of those with GPU's or CPU's an i wouldn't worry to much about Tech keeping up and or not being able to afford it unless you mine with Acis miners.

to me and it a debate thing the best cards to use right now are

Nvidia 1060 and up ...

AMD is good mostly for ETH mining.

That's coming from a miner who uses a mix of both cards in different rigs.

I don't mix cards per RIG to many issue pop up when i do. so I keep amd to amd and Nvidia to Nvidia less issue for me .

AMD CPU's are good for mining as well . the 1700 series  line and up ...

as for whats most profitable to mine with GPU's  ETH.

followed close by two others Zcash and XMR.

but that all depends on the demand .
224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Does mining in America die with net neutrality? on: December 15, 2017, 10:30:08 AM
37% of all web traffic in North America is Netflix. The people who own the backbone want a slice. I pay x$ now for 100mb/s connection. Tomorrow I will still have a 100mb/s connection. Maybe Netflix goes up a buck. I don't think you need to worry. The internet wasn't broke before net neutrality. Net neutrality wasn't around very long. The internet will not be broken when it is gone.

that % is BS ..an your memory is short lived of how it was back before net neutrality ..so that said : I'm not gonna fight with a troll/bot ....... ...

Cya ...
225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Does mining in America die with net neutrality? on: December 15, 2017, 09:46:02 AM
They don't want your money, they want big loot. Netflix, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft cloud.... a large part of all web traffic is just for Netflix, ISP's see them making big loot, they want a cut. Besides, I don't know about you, but I pay for a certain amount of speed. Slower plans are available.
Cheers!

I'm not sure i understand what your getting at but BS they don't want our money and it's not just Netflix, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft cloud. Like you think , it will be like buying TV channels , if it happens plus paying for the Speed on top of other shit like being blocked or pay for the service being blocked, while the service being blocked is paying to.

Like maybe paying for access to the bitcointalk.org Forums, then well see how you feel, if that's free, i don't know what to say.

It was starting to happen that way before net neutrality was enforced back in 2015 that's why it was done ... back then they took heed and listened to the People .

The whole point of net neutrality was to stop that kind of unfair trade, in this case speed has nothing to do with it . speed is not why we want net neutrality.

It's called Freedom on the WED with out Limits .

And the US Government is suppose to stop this kind law breaking of basic rights, if you live in the US, which I get the feeling you don't .
226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Does mining in America die with net neutrality? on: December 15, 2017, 09:05:38 AM
The death of net neutrality is a good thing.  Keep the government out of it.  We don't need them censoring what content we have access to.  Allow the free market to operate.  Some ISP tries to throttle you or block crypto sites then another ISP will pop up and offer better service.  Free market FTW!!

Everyone should go look up the Second bill rights if you live in the US. a lot of people including me don't know about it or didn't know about, an if FDR had lived a little longer, he would have made law ...

NO the government should have a say when it comes to some stuff and this just happen to be one of them the government was protecting us ...Like health care in the US we need a single payer system which we have and have had sense FDR started it in the 1930's .. but was block some by the Republicans...... but is back or the idea every one in the US should have access to Medicare we pay it but only the disabled and Retired can use it, remember 2018 is coming ....Don't let these Ass holes running things now get you down they won't be much longer..

We vote in the US unlike Russia .. or our votes actually count and they can't kill anyone to win a vote .
Russia may vote but there votes are kill votes so to speak you can be killed if you vote wrong .

So, Don't lose hope this will be over turned ..... it's gonna go though the courts, yet /again, once trump is gone so will all those ass hole who break our Constitution. the head of the FCC expects us to believe him, he worked for Verizon, so we know who his true Loyalty is for and it's not for the People, so hang in there time will tell ...

just sayin though, its very possible it could make it through and if it does ohhh man shit bout to get real and fast, not overnight but still

True but you also have to look at in a Positive way , it may not . it can take months before any thing real happens and after that another 60 days before it all goes full law and a lot can happen.

I watched the Vote on YouTube it was doomed to started with... there was no way it wasn't gonna be repealed,l feel it should have gone though the same shit Obama Care went though, three votes and it's repealed this is a big deal ...

I get about 135mhs right now stock with the 580s. When I load AB. it shows the video card I have but nothing for the drivers, I also cant adjust any values. On wattman I see all the video cards but when I attempt to adjust them there is no change.

I started to do some trouble shooting and noticed that if I only have 3 GPUs running at one time, then I have no problems with AB or Wattman, as soon as I connect number 4. I cant adjust the sliders on AB and Wattman doesnt apply the changes made to the settings.

Maybe there is an issue with dtsm and the zpool stratum ? also what cmdline do you use to start it ?

Have tried using zm.exe --server equihash.mine.zpool.ca  --port 2142 --user 17g2APRaoDz17mM4Vw9R1hSR6juVnKXGrk --pass x --telemetry 127.0.0.1:2222 --time

and zm --server equihash.mine.zpool.ca  --port 2142 --user 17g2APRaoDz17mM4Vw9R1hSR6juVnKXGrk --pass x --telemetry 127.0.0.1:2222 --time

Both were the same, didn't returned any shares.

Code:
--telemetry 0.0.0.0:2222
232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Noob Question About Power Plugs to GPUs on: December 10, 2017, 11:27:05 PM
Thanks both for answering (I've set my current rig based on reading several of your posts @QuintLeo).
I've got each set to +200, +700, 126w, 70 for temp, and 52% Fan Speed (Averaging 1520 Sols/s per card thanks to you!)

Checked again. Looks like the FTW2 has (2) 8-pin (6+2) on each 1070 ti.

So couldn't I use PCI-E Dual 8-Pin (6+2 Pin) Y-Splitter to each card?
Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/PCI-Express-Y-Splitter-Adapter-Converter-Gaming/dp/B004PBJARO

Total power would not exceed 756watts.
Is there a max wattage on each VGA out of the EVGA 1000 P2?

@toptek, the SATA splitters offer three outputs - what is the issue with 2 cards per SATA output on PS?

I don't know i haven't done it that way for a while because it's has some kind of issue that the Sata cable might burn out due to they don't supply enough power that the GPU can need, which is a debate thing for some.

I don't use SATA plugs other then for ssd's, i use raiser cards  with pcei express plug on the raiser and plug them directly into the server psu with pcei cables. when some one on the forums said it's safe to plug it all directly into the Server Psu with break out boards and pcei cables, it does seem safer to me.  i all ways wanted to do it that way and not use the sata plug other then for SSD.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073RBP3V6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

like this raiser

an the 1000 watt is fine for about 7 cards maybe 8 ,beyond 8 might be pushing the limits .  i use 2400 watt server psu's per rig i know it's over kill but i can plug more cards per rig if i want that way.
233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Noob Question About Power Plugs to GPUs on: December 10, 2017, 10:53:31 PM
my EVGA 1070 ti has one 8  pin peci  plug.

I have the EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti SC GAMING so

QuintLeo is right

MY 1080 has 2

That's what I thought, but if you watch VoskCoin, he uses one 1000 watt EVGA Gold to power 6 cards.
https://youtu.be/QBmZG4pnr6A

So is he splitting each 6 pin to (2) 8 pins?

form what the video shows hes using one splitter per card and you still need to power the pcei raisers cards, i don't use the power plug on the MB sense i use powered raiser cards, you don't need to use the four pin power plugs on the MB you can but i don't think it mater much unless your not using powered raiser cards.

I don't use ATX pSU i use server PSU with a DC 12V 160W 24Pin Pico ATX Switch that only powers the MB and SSD an power the EPS plug on the MB plugged directly into the PSU with a cable i made from idea's off the forums here.
234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: awesome miner: ethos on: December 10, 2017, 07:09:22 PM
didn't work and I get an error...

invalid arguement -mport
genoil's ethminer 0.0.41

you not using clay more that why

use either

Code:
globalminer claymore-zcash
for Zec mining for AMD cards only claymore Zec miner only supports AMD cards
or

Code:
globalminer claymore
for eth for AMD or NV card, CM ETH Miner supports both .

if want to use port:3333,...  i don't think you can set it up in Awesome miner just to monitor unless you use genoil's ethminer as a Generic miner with awesome miner to monitor it ..

I don't know to much about genoil's ethminer or know how to set up a port in ethos for genoil's ethminer to use a port , how you want.

for NV cards use dstm-zcash forv ZEC mining like below and change the
Code:
 proxypool1 and proxywallet
for your setup .  leave in
Code:
flags --telemetry=0.0.0.0:2222
or you can't see it in awesome, i found out the other day troubleshooting  using dstm-zcash miner.

Code:
globalminer dstm-zcash
maxgputemp 85
stratumproxy enabled
proxywallet
proxypool1
globalfan 85
flags --telemetry=0.0.0.0:2222
235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: awesome miner: ethos on: December 10, 2017, 07:08:46 PM
Just found this about  ethos

https://ethereum.stackexchange.com/questions/2316/whats-the-advantage-of-ethos-over-ubuntu-or-windows-mining

if were talking about the same one, I know there is or was two different version by two different Dev . the free version i could never get to work right .

did you pay for your copy/s of ethos and there all Linux based as far as i know, they all run Ubuntu 14 or were, not sure what 127 runs yet, haven't checked.
236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: awesome miner: ethos on: December 10, 2017, 06:49:33 PM
thank you for the quick reply. Are you using ethos running on linux? Version? I am running 1.2.7.
I don't see any reference to specifying the port. Did you have to do anything to ethos to let awesome miner see it? When I try telnetting to the port 3333 I get no answer. Do you get an answer when you try to telnet to your rig ip 3333?

Thanks.
Tony

no it should loud by default

all i do with Awesome miner is use external miner and put the IP with out port :3333 and it finds it . claymore should all ready load port :3333 by default.

what software miner are you using ? .

what your network address ? ..
you do mean this ethos http://ethosdistro.com/ ?

you can try this in the local file

Code:
flags -mport 127.0.0.1:3333 -logfile noappend.txt

 or

Code:
flags -mport 0.0.0.0:3333 -logfile noappend.txt

the
Code:
 -logfile noappend.txt
is so you don't have a ton of log file you don't really need login.

and when you set it up with Awesome miner  make sure to use the right software miner if you don't it may not load the right port other wise can't say without seeing it .

237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: awesome miner: ethos on: December 10, 2017, 06:43:08 PM
Thank you. I knew it was possible but what do you have to do in the local.conf in ethos or elsewhere to allow it to listen on port 3333? I have tried placing -mport 3333 on the flags line of the config and restarting with no success.

Does not seem to be a lot of info out there on this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
Tony

this is all i have in the my local.conf
you wil need to change this to what ethos gives you

Hello all.  I am newly married and my wife does not like the fact that I am so heavily consumed by charts and trading and bitcoin, altcoin etc.   She also does not want me to get into a high powered mining operation.  But I still want to mine over the next year or so with little noise and power.  Would this be worth it in long run?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-R9-390-GPU-Ethereum-Miner-ETH-BTC-ZCash-XMR-Computer-Heater-Mining-Rig-/182788285566?hash=item2a8f07e47e

Maybe a couple of them.  One to mine monero and one to mine eth.

Any help would be appreciated.

NO in one word you could build your own system with a better card if you shop around for the parts for about the same with up to date parts  an get more for the money .

She does not believe in it or know the immense scale of it.   She is not against me bringing home income.  She does not like the idea of using lots of power.  I will have a budget of about 1200 in a few days and maybe more.  Thanks.

I could come up with maybe 2200 buy end of december.   I am mainly interested in mining an altcoin that will rise in the future.  She does not like the fact that I spend so much time trading what little I have.  .04 btc

Try to get her to be interested in learning about new things. 10 years ago my wife hardly knew the difference between a toaster and a computer. Now she runs our small mining farm.

mining is a awesome thing to do if you get hooked, you can't stop .. or you can stop but it's hard to stop once you start mining, if you like it . it can become a nice addiction with nice side affect  and the stuff you learn over time is Amazing ..
239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NICEHASH confirmed - hacked - Any legit alternatives? on: December 10, 2017, 01:47:53 AM
Will be looking to nemosminer as well, thanks for the suggestion.
In the meantime, the plot (bad news?) thickens according to the post from earlier https://www.justcryptonews.com/291/breaking-nicehash-has-been-hacked-50mln-missing and Reddit :

According to a reddit user the owner of Nicehash company with a share capital of half a million euros is Bitorious (45%) based in Dornberk, its director is Marko Kobal, and 55% of the company is owned by H-Bit. The owner of H-Bit is Martin Škorjanc. An interesting fact is that Martin Škorjanc is the father of Matjaž Škorjanc, who was arrested by Slovenian police for an online cyber crime with the help of the US FBI in Maribor. According to BBC Matjaz Skorjanc was arrested in 2010 after a two-year investigation into malware that had hijacked about 12.7 million computers around the world.

Are things getting wild? Shocked Shocked

I all ways thought the owners of nice hash were shady but didn't think they were that bad..
240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Owners of GTX 1060, what is your hashrate? on: December 10, 2017, 01:34:21 AM
Using dstm-zcash miner OCing two 1060's one with 3gb and one with 6gb

1060 6gb does 342 sol Aug with dstm-zcash miner
1060 3gb does 307 to 310 sols dstm-zcash miner

ETH mining both do OC 24 MH i can't seem to get that any high for long and run stable. 24 MH seems like the sweet spot for 1060's no mater how much on board memory they have..
and if i dual mine I'm impressed it doesn't lower the eth hash like it does on my on my AMD cards on the 1060 or any of my NV cards i own .

Is it possible to mine both ethereum and vertcoin?

if it is you would need a miner like Clay-more's etH miner to do it . and that miner what ever it is would need support added to do it .
