2221  Other / Meta / Re: Question About Report to moderator on: October 29, 2022, 03:07:47 PM
~snipped~
Bitcointalk won't charge you, but your "punishment" is a bad report.
Yeah, I know and I don't think anybody would've any issue having their reports tagged bad if it was a false crime. The issue I raised is that the person who reported a post (which they didn't know was a false report) shouldn't expect that the post(s) would either be moved or deleted. Again, I've read somewhere here where members complained that reports they made were marked good but no action was taken on the said posts. I wonder why that happens. Perhaps the mods are overwhelmed with work?
2222  Other / Meta / Re: Question About Report to moderator on: October 29, 2022, 09:39:22 AM
It's also possible that a moderator see your report, mark it as bad and don't take any action on the post. Then another moderator move the topic. In this case, your report will be still bad.
I believe we're dealing with a hypothetical situation there, thus why I underlined that part. However, let me throw realism into it and ask "isn't that the right thing to do if mods feel a report is bad, to ignore it?" It's like raising a false alarm and the police gets there, realizes it calls for no concern. The police turns and leaves. The one that should be horrible is when it's marked as good report on a bad post and no action is taken on it, isn't it? Is there anything I'm misplacing here?

If one comes across Trash, OT, or the "Low Quality Post" -- report it to the Mods - not just bitch about it elsewhere..
Sometimes, users just move on after reporting many posts and nothing seemed to have been done. I would do same too; just move on. Gradually, such users cease visiting those vexatious sections and before we say Jack, those sections become bereft of constructive posters. I think it's an admin thing to do. There should be a marching order that ought to institute standard there. Users can't continue to report to mods and nothing seemed to have been done.
2224  Other / Meta / Re: Small poll for BitcoinTalk lovers on: October 28, 2022, 11:56:17 PM
Nope, not interested, mainly because of the reason mentioned by Loyce. I didn't even pick up the "Scambuster of the year award" (which was a t-shirt) so I wouldn't be interested using any other forum related merchandise.
I thought about that too while the awards were going on and I felt it was an oversight by the organiser to have included prizes that demanded physical receiving addresses knowing it defiles part of what this forum promotes – privacy. I hope in the next award such will be monetized, rather than handed out as t-shirts or plaques.
2225  Other / Meta / Re: Abolish the Merit system and bounty threads on: October 28, 2022, 11:44:48 PM
While I wouldn't want to get into the merit stuff OP talked about because I think meriting posts is a subjective issue, I want to comment on the bounty thing. Yes, I support that bounty threads be moderated (not abolished, anyway). What goes on there is a complete eyesore. If other sections of this forum were like the altcoin section, this forum would've long gone down. The reason other crypto sites that imitated BTT haven't been surviving is the preponderance of spam posts which couldn't be moderated on those sites. When you allow people post trash, the genuine posters will leave. Again, I would love to see a time when all bounty reports will not be posted on thread topics but on Google sheets.
2226  Other / Meta / Re: The Reason why you chose your username on: October 28, 2022, 05:55:50 PM

When I first came to the forum one thing that marveled me was  the different usernames displaying. Then I asked my friend and he told me that, it is to hide identity.
Using moniker (username) isn't excluded to this forum alone. It's the norm when it comes to social media. People want to keep their privacy offline and enjoy the highest level of freedom of expression that ordinarily eludes them in real life.

For me, I had to make my username special at the time I was picking it. My moniker isn't just a  name out of the blues. It was specifically picked to reflect something close in my life at the time I did.

You can reduce your picture size by choosing a parameter for it:

so it doesn't take up space while trying to view it. You can quote my post to see how it's done.

While I want to congratulate OP on their birthday, let me quickly remind them that every year we add to our age is a reminder that we're slowly drawing close to our exit point (our graves). I know there are people who don't like being reminded of this sad fact. Well, that's just by the way.

OP, is there a way you can woo certain merit sources to your thread so as to argument your lean merit. 24 or 20 merit is hardly anything to raise a thread for. That's just my humble take.
2228  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Looking for regular/semi regular Bitcoin sellers on: October 27, 2022, 11:33:11 PM
To OP no matter how much reputation you have in LbC here your trust level is completely zero so you have to opt for trusted escrows from bitcointalk if you're really intended to actual trade.
Exactly my thought. If OP is dealing with someone on localbitcoin, they should get their escrow there and if dealing with someone on BTT; they should get their escrow here. No two ways about that. Trust isn't transferable from one platform to the other. Another issue – OP is a fresh newbie account registered less than a week ago with only five posts. It doesn't speak well when it comes to financial dealings.

Oh hey! I also watch them and Jim Browning as well. Kit is even streaming as of writing this.
It's good to know someone else here watches and values their efforts. Those dudes are of a great service to many of us who dwell on the cyberspace, with their attempt at sanitizing it. I've watched a clip where Kit and Jim Browning (I think it was him or Pierogi. Can't be too sure anymore) combined to disrupt scammers' peace. There's also Trilogy Media, those guys are equally good too.

2234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Trustwallet Safe? on: October 25, 2022, 09:21:06 PM
Safety can be relative and dependent on personal efforts.
You made a valid point there and it's very consistent with my point of view too. It's not enough to get the best of whatever wallet there are while we can't make efforts to strongly secure them. As for those who mouth "hardware wallet" this, and t, how many of these users truly have it or have seen one before. That's by the way. Back to the issue, I use a Trust Wallet and I haven't had any issue(s) with it. I know experts say it's closed source and that it's a red flag.
2235  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Class action lawsuit against Telegram on: October 25, 2022, 07:45:47 PM
Hello, I'm organizing a billion-dollar class action lawsuit against Telegram and the Founder and CEO Pavel Durov for not deleting "Pump and Dump"-Groups despite repeated requests. This is aid to market manipulation. I'm looking for people who have suffered damage as a result.
You see socialization whenever you're using telegram but the owner sees business opportunities and ways to generate revenue whenever they look at it. Those are too different intentions. The pump and dump groups you want expunged (I also don't like them), could be the cash cow for the telegram owner, Pavel Durov. You never can tell.

I never thought It would be any way this less difficult for me because I'm not the writing type
I know it doesn't seem easy but one thing is sure, that nothing good comes easy as my journey has been so much amazing to me.
Determination, at the end, is what sees us through during rough times. Ride on. I like the fact that you've conquered you writing lethargy. Keeping moving and don't relent. One day, you will get to the top. Remember, winners don't quit and quitters don't win.

You're unofficially a Member ranked fellow. You already have more than enough merit (10 merit) for that. The only thing keeping you is your activity count. With a minimum of 60 activities you will move up to the Member rank.
2237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I made a mistake shorting BTC at 17k on: October 25, 2022, 06:49:52 PM
I suggest you buy back your BTC now before prices shoot back up, because the logarithmic rainbow charts are already putting this current price in "Basically a fire sale", even almost breaking below that color line - meaning we will never see $17K again (sorry Bitcoin to zero doomers).
I wouldn't be in a haste to go in if I were the OP. I will wait for today to pass because I believe there will be a correction downside to what price did by tomorrow or so. OP shouldn't be in a hurry to trigger a buy trade. Just relax and watch paint dry.

There is some confusion about what you actually did, according to the title you shorted the bitcoin at $17k, however, in the post you state you sold it at $18k.
OP sold at $18,000 and made some gain but felt that Bitcoin was going to crash and then they sold/shorted it at $17,000 hoping it would hit $15k or lower, only for Bitcoin to zoom pass $18k and even $19k now. That's what I garnered from what OP narrated.
2238  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My crypto/Bitcoin advice. on: October 25, 2022, 02:57:18 PM
You can depend your life on Bitcoin that is why Bitcoin is referred to as decentralized and independent!
I'm sure whatever angle to that statement you made was informed by a personal experience of yours. However, I'm of the opinion that no one should place their life consequent on anything; not even on Bitcoin. Yes, it may be decentralized and all that but that isn't the only thing to life. Bitcoin, despite its accolades, is still unstable and volatile. It seems the most safe of all cryptos but that isn't to say one shouldn't be precautions while dealing in it. There are many who won't even talk highly and in good light about Bitcoin till date. Everyone's perspective isn't the same on Bitcoin. Many bemoan their losses while few glory in it.
2239  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Beware of fake Coinmarketcap! on: October 25, 2022, 01:33:53 PM
It's the "wetcap" for me 😆. Thanks for alerting us to it. This is the reason I like to bookmark every vital site I visit and know I will revisit or use regularly. I don't even trust people to just call out a website to me, I want it copied and sent. Any slight variation in spelling this day leads one to a totally different site. Phishers everywhere. That site didn't even hide its attempt to scam from the onset by asking users to connect their wallets to it. For me, even without suspecting that the url was different, was a red flag.
2240  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is this possible? on: October 25, 2022, 08:47:29 AM
I like watching Kitboga, Pierogi and the rest of the dudes dealing scammers hot blows on YouTube. One of the things I've come to note about all scammers is that they can't harm their victims if the victims don't grant them access to their devices. It's the same thing with hackers. No hacker can hack anything if a victim hasn't compromised anything. When this compromise happens and the victims falls prey, they hardly tell exactly what happened. They want to paint a picture of their innocence and how they were unaware of how they were hacked or scammed. There's something called Remote Access. No one can hack a device if the victim didn't grant them a remote access to their device. It's always a link to click or a set of codes to enter and the scammer is with you. That I learnt from YouTube, following those dudes I mentioned above. So, if one stays without clicking on suspicious and irrelevant links there's no way they can get malware.
