2481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Future of Litecoin on: May 24, 2018, 01:38:12 AM
Are you sure of what you are saying? I see that the litecoin community is growing ever more. With the abundance of support gained for ethereum makes the ethereum stronger fortress. And if this continues, I think ethereum can create an opportunity for more confidence to reach a bright future.

my concern it the death of pow-scrypt mining at these prices vs difficulty

also the Bitmain monopoly that likely will result from this, in their usual massive 'toaster' pre-order madness and

filling their data halls up first with new equipment for 4-5 months before release driving up difficulty by 2x say

seen this dance before..they seem to be getting better at it...
2482  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: May 24, 2018, 01:34:08 AM
The S11 rumor is already floating around so where there is smoke there is fire.  After June and the coupons expire we will probably start to see the preorders for the next wave of hardware.

Well, https://bitcoinwisdom.com/litecoin/difficulty shows in 12 hours difficulty will go up 6.42% for LTC...thus at (what I get) at an

L3+ (currently, the main product for us now for scrypt-pow) ....at 41c per day!

I ASSUME no one is dense enough to be buying L3+'s in mass with these LTC prices and I also assume

there are NO other competitors to Bitmain ..that could pump scrypt-pow machines for LTC diffiulty up 6.42% in the last few days

so you are probably correct..they are probably filling data halls with new scrypt-pow miners to replace the L3+ and your likely S11 BTC miner...

fill the data halls over the summer ..drive up say difficulty of LTC up and if not at least 'upsurp' the network share ..and offer pre-orders in late fall

I just can't see folk buying Bitmain L3+'s in mass enough to kick up the difficulty 6.42% supposedly, and no other mnfg has numbers to do this

either IMHO, thus it is bitmain with a new scrypt pow unit that they are slipping into the data halls, gain matches the 'coupon' death in June...

We will see, but likely above, IMHO

Bitcorn. Why you gotta be so boring ?

This dip is total weaksauce.

Make it stop! $7944 BTC! FML!

too bad..you'd think with the price of BTC down..it would continue...anyway...thanks for the campaign

let me/us know in the future if you manage to run any new campaign, and I'll sign up!

2485  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-22] Bitcoin Pizza Day: How a Pizza Worth $40M Shows the Cryptocurrency on: May 22, 2018, 06:13:53 PM
I ran a big game server back in the day, so in Jan of 2009 I took it all down ...like 6 towers of CPU power, with the other machines

I had, call it 10 towers of CPU available for BTC mining....alas, did not find out about BTC until 2013 Sad

Worse yet, I had a buddy who worked for NASA, who passed before 2009 and caught up with all his buddies at NASA

at one time, by chance, on whale talk chat 2 plus years ago, and they are all BTC Billionaires because they got in right away...

Ack!

alas, no one phoned till 2013...

As to the 10,000 for the Pizza, I wish I'd have been in the loop then.

So anyway, perfectly positioned to be 'the pizza guy' who did this...but alas, no one phone until 2013...

(my buddy Qazz would have loved this crypto stuff big time...)

2486  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: JAM (Just Another Masternode) Collectors Club. Questious and answers! on: May 22, 2018, 05:31:07 PM

Jeez...where do I start?

Anyone have any masternodes the recommend at say a $500 - $1000 staking price?

I assume 1st you find a coin you WANT to use for masternode..then you figure out HOW to do a masternode

so far, can't get past the proper coin/vs masternode/vs staking...

brad

 Hi

In this market I would not put $500 - $1000 to sleep.
I once found 1 coin that I wanted, the pricetag was $3500. Week ago picked it up for $100. Great succsess.
And for seting up... alot of MN-s have autoscripts today, so setting it up takes less time than MN.conf editing.

Hope this info is helpful to someone.

I don't suppose there are a couple of bitcointalk threads that folk use on here, that keeps track of 'up and coming coins using masternodes?"

or something like that...or a website of such?

(trying to find such info out of the blue by myself is gonna suck....)

Anyway, any resources for combing thru potential candidates would be appreciated on here by me or other newbies etc

2487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Media is negative about Bitcoin? on: May 22, 2018, 05:32:17 AM
Controversy sells papers or eyeballs to your website

1 week Forbes prints an article "bitcoin doomed"

2 week Forbes prints an article " bitcoin to the moon"

(titles above fictional)

you, with both sides of the viewpoint on Bitcoin as a new store of value, say, or a scam..get lots and lots of folks to read your nice Forbes articles

rinse/wash/repeat

the more volatility..the more so also in the press

but negative sells better IMHO, due to more folk WITHOUT any crypto that would love to see it crash and burn till those who have crypto

notice they don't say the stock market will fail EVERY DAY anyway...

anyway, my view

2488  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you know the Estimated Price of Bitcoin in 2019? You will be surprised. on: May 22, 2018, 05:25:16 AM
everyone has their respective predictions about bitcoin prices in the future, I think bitcoin will reach $ 30k in 2019.

I hope I am wrong and you are correct...I have a lot of BTC (or enough where a 4k drop would be bad, very bad at 4k)

My current view is to sell the BTC (some or part) and invest in altcoins (LISK comes to mind, a pos coin an others)

This whole mt. gox dumping of 1.4 Billion USD of BTC has me 'twitchy'

may need to 'hunt' elsewhere (Altcoins) until this clears up, hopefully by the end of the year..that is a lot of BTC to eat by 2019!

Unsure, pondering options

2489  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you know the Estimated Price of Bitcoin in 2019? You will be surprised. on: May 22, 2018, 05:17:37 AM
Analytical agency Fundstrat Global Advisors LLK published its Forecast.
Bitcoin could soar as high as $64,000 next year, investment research firm Fundstrat predicts
"We believe the current path of hash power growth supports a BTC price of about $36,000 by 2019 year end, with a $20,000-$64,000 range," Sam Doctor, head of data science research at Fundstrat, said in a report. Hash power refers to the processing power computers need to generate bitcoins.
That's roughly four times or more from bitcoin's price Thursday of near $9,300.
The economics of bitcoin mining also likely create a support level for the cryptocurrency, Doctor said.
Source for the prediction: https://www.cnbc.com/2018/05/10/bitcoin-could-soar-as-high-as-64000-next-year-fundstrat-predicts.html

I can never find info on if they take into consideration that the mt. gox trustee has to move 1.4 Billion USD of BTC by the end of the year (IMHO, I

can't see this going on into the 3rd year of the mt. gox trustee)

that IMHO, is why the price is dorked sideways and is not recovering but in fits and starts

2491  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Future of Litecoin on: May 22, 2018, 05:11:45 AM
This is bad news, but I don't think it's very critical and the price will go down sharply ... I think it's gonna be okay.

I'm making 48c after electric on the top of the line available now Bitmain L3+ miner, you can still buy new at like 585 (don't)

So if the top of the line pow-scrypt miner doing LTC is in this kinda trouble at $133 LTC price...as a pow-scrypt coin you

would need 200 buck coin to make more than 2 bucks a day....chicken feed

when the pow scrypt coin you mine...can't make ROI on the equipment in 9 months to a year (at worst a year) you are

in real, real, trouble IMHO with your pow-scrypt mineable coin...add Bitmain to this mix as a monopoly and this could be as they say

very, very, bad...

mining ...in 2018...argh!

2492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The Alts are being held back by BTC on: May 22, 2018, 05:02:55 AM

IMHO, this is due to the mt. gox trustee LIKELY going to move 1.4 Billion USD of BTC by the end of the year...

that is gonna put a crimp in all the altcoins, big time!

(Bitcoin gets a cold, and the altcoins get pneumonia!)

this is what I see as likely, a sideways price for BTC at best and/or Altcoins.... until the end of the year...

gonna take a while to 'digest' that mt. gox coin into the ecosystem of BTC!

Hope I am dead wrong, and it pumps...but seems frigging unlikely...again, my view....
2493  Economy / Economics / Re: The Future of Cryptocurrency on: May 22, 2018, 04:59:32 AM
Crypto currency has a greater future no doubt and we have already seen it since the inseption of Bitcoin in 2009 ehen its value was below a dollar and now above $8,500 as at time of this post.
The future of cryptocurrency matters on how it works and how it runs now a days . It matters also to the demand and even how useful cryptocurrency is.

Well, the mt. gox folk have to move 1.4 Billion USD in BTC ...probably by the end of the year (I can't see this going into the 3rd year, is it?)

that is 250 million say a month, to give them time to wrap up stuff by years end....again IMHO

so sideways is the best we can do for now in the near future

for say 2020 timeframe...my guess is 25k coin than for btc....too many people want 'cheap coin' and it will be FUD city till then

but hopefully, there is not that much drama to stall the price that long

2494  Economy / Economics / Re: What are the major factors that affect the bitcoin price? on: May 22, 2018, 04:51:24 AM

Right now mt. gox has to move 1.4 Billion USD of BTC out on the liquidation, IMHO by the end of the year...( I can't see the trustee not getting paid

for the liquidation, because he did not get this wrapped up soonest!) That is about 250 million sold BTC a month or some such...giving him time

to wrap it all up by Jan 1st, 2019...

I just can't see them NOT wrapping this up and waiting longer than that for their 3rd year is it.....they got to move the coin..again, IMHO

So, add this with the regular FUD and we are likely to be lucky to even see the price between 7800 and 8500 now

ugly, ugly

Well, these decred units are out by innsilicon, me thinks? (maybe?)

http://www.innosilicon.com/html/d9-miner/index.html

If so anyone get one? What do you expect to make? Shipping May 21st to May 28th the link says...

Myself, I bailed on such..curious what people think if they got one

also, what people think of this whole ASIC for decred coin stuff...(fork?)

thanks for catching me up in advance

2496  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: May 22, 2018, 04:36:15 AM
What is the current situation with the Bitmain miner and the Obelisk miner? Will or was there a chane in the protocal already or will a change happen in the next days or weeks?

the protocol won't change ..sia-tech folk said nope...as to the Bitmain Miner....they MAY have the 2nd version out...but with these prices etc ..I doubt they would

release it...then again who knows...I'd not be surprised if a 2nd gen bitmain siacoin miner came out before the first obelisk sc-1's ship

(Bitmain: always there to make a statement and slap any other ASIC maker down with units or price...its what they do...as a monopoly don't  ya know!)
2497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: May 21, 2018, 11:41:06 PM
Can we believe that the Litecoin mining period is over? According to recent posts in this topic is a strong indication that yes. In particular mining is not my area and I am only an art sympathizer, but in my opinion after the definitive termination of Litecoin mining we may come across a large increase in value due to scant and demand.

NO...IMHO that is...Bitmain is the main mnfg of about 90% or more ASIC's of any flavor..not just LTC and pow-scrypt....sha-256 and blake2b, etc

Thus no scarcity will be involved...just them taking over as a monopoly say of pow-scrypt...in that they probably have a better pow-scrypt miner in the works

and while they may not LIKE these LTC and pow-scrypt prices...they probably only pay at max 20% of the value of the equip and cheap electric

with them just supplying themselves for their own data halls...(small consumer miners are out) all the pow-scrypt profits would go to them or others as

big...

Thus, this comes to mind, how 'excited' will anyone be ...wanting to trade and promote LTC for example...if stuff in mining for pow-scrypt becomes this

centralized....add to the pre-order model where Bitmain mines for 4 months driving LTC difficulty up...(last time they did this 30%) then letting the

consumer get these same machines 5 months afterward.....again, with the pre-order $$$ benefits too boot, before shipping 4 months later

It will at that time be so obvious IMHO, that the price of LTC will dump...and people will stop playing the game...thus less value in LTC means less price

if folk, see this and see it 'played' in this manner by Bitmain or others...

so LTC will still be mined, but by centralized big boys like Bitmain who will make the chip/promote the chip and algo/and then mine the chip themselves

for the most part....so again, IMHO, without the 'consumer type hobby miner' 20 or fewer machines.....why would anyone promote this algo of pow-scrypt

or LTC etc? Folk again, IMHO, will move on to POS coins or Masternodes...and/or other algo's and coins...should they see my above 'dubious' claims

come to be.

On a good note, perhaps the dump of L3+'s has slowed.....less than 1% rise in difficulty last go around, however, I'm still unsure if Bitmain does not have

the 'supposed' 1.5gh miner in the works...(see above scenario) ....that in my view would be the sign to dump my hoard of LTC into something else entirely

Something has to 'break' to make consumer type mining (of the stuff that is out in the world NOW) worth mining and getting excited about..that means

price improvement....but not sure if that will to be...hope I'm dead wrong ..but I've been into mining coin since 2013...it is looking ugly indeed....

2498  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are some stable altcoins ? on: May 21, 2018, 10:10:43 PM

LISK seems very stable and a bit undervalued IMHO, It may not work...but at least the devs put their money where their mouth is...

anyway, that is my take on such....
2499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer B3 Miner on: May 21, 2018, 07:43:24 PM
FYI - Finally received several payments of BTM from Antpool today.  Looks like they finally have things working Smiley

What is your 'best guess' on what you are getting a day via USD...kinda sorta? Also, do you have the 1st batch or the 2nd batch or whatever?

curious...I did not go to this parade....but wish you luck...just curious Smiley

I await the details from the bleachers as I watch this thread Smiley

I got $14.4 (20BTM) per miner yesterday and I should get $12.6 (17 BTM) today. I got two miners one from each batch.

I did not have the nad's to do this.....(as I look at my 6 L3+'s I got a couple months ago making 51c a day after electric)

I always thought I'd go an ASIC or two......too far...when.if my mining days were to wane....thus cut myself off from new units for a bit.....

but good for you..hope it hangs together past ROI

2500  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain L3+ Voltage Control Tool...Free :) on: May 21, 2018, 07:37:42 PM
I realized I gave 0.002 btc not 0.003 btc

LTC: LQZpb8AqbggUmsdPKr28DzdNcRP7MJ8kEf

BTC: 1LeA29mLjTFCyB5J6Yiq4TFtAck2VDPUZf

LTC:LX5vpxrQE4eLRLPobKwZhw2comkKFCh3p4

BTC:14w9Lea6kdVzspJk8TQRe7qSYu9LhzJJsh      I sent to here

@ jstefanop  are all above addresses good?

I just sent 0.0022 from profile wallet

https://blockchain.info/tx/5680de333a1efaac0e660aab6030ceb5bcf141614d8bf65cd12a0769840e7bde

and I did send  0.002 from coinbase

https://blockchain.info/tx/9401c0ee31116b421b1e6204bbadba2f576e39ad72f0d10a9f1eade9efdffb3c

So 0.0042 btc total

 will be saving 12 x 100 = 1200 watts   that is over 850 k-watts a month. that is 85 dollars at 10 cents

I will send to you again in June.

so I was checking donations made or at least deposits made

https://blockchain.info/address/1LeA29mLjTFCyB5J6Yiq4TFtAck2VDPUZf

0.01412 btc since may 7

https://blockchain.info/address/14w9Lea6kdVzspJk8TQRe7qSYu9LhzJJsh

0.0042 btc since may 8

https://live.blockcypher.com/ltc/address/LQZpb8AqbggUmsdPKr28DzdNcRP7MJ8kEf/

.2762 ltc  last 10 days

https://live.blockcypher.com/ltc/address/LX5vpxrQE4eLRLPobKwZhw2comkKFCh3p4/

0.0633 ltc last 10 days

so

0.0183 btc =  150 usd

0.3395 ltc =    45 usd

so he has received a max of 195 usd in donations.

Consider that this software saves  me about 100 watts a miner  and I have 12 miners  = 1200 watts  = about 30 kwatts a day or 3.00usd a day at 10 cent a kwatt.

that is 90 a month.  I gave him .0042 btc or 35 usd so far.

If I could code this  I would want a few more then the 195  for the ltc alone.

So I think he will not be rushing to do more for us. @ op I will send you 0.0058 soon  which will be 0.0100 total  and that will equal 1 month of my power savings.

If people want D3 or A3  you could those him more coin.

Be sure to send to his address in his op  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3546316.msg36338080#msg36338080

I will donate as soon as me and my partner get around to making these tweaks...but as of now my partner is still setting up L3+'s in the box

and dealing with an electrican...with his stuff..if this keeps up ..the whole thing will be 'moot' anyway...my L3+'s that are up are making

53c a day after electric....just saying..others may be in despair and not really also be jumping on this mod...as we speak..for the same reasons as

me ....why bother improving the engines on the Titanic if the iceberg of difficulty is gonna sink the L3+ boat anyway...

IF we manage to get the LTC price say above $160 again, (where I'm making more than a $1 a day) you

may have some more motivated people...as to myself ..I watch this mess and basically am turning into a

'lump' of an unmotivated miner....ie (are the miners up ...good....goes back to bed pulls covers over his head)

I think your logic is a bit off Wink If anything lower prices/profits will motivate people more to reduce voltages and increase efficiency. If your scraping by and can reduce power by 10-20% thats pretty big...of course 10-20% power reduction did not matter when the L3's were making 1k per month last year Wink

I probably was not clear...if the price of LTC say reaches a point, where you can't mine it with the elec costs for the majority of the 'consumer' small guys

1-20 Bitmain units say...then that leaves Bitmain......centralized mining....likely with new 'supposed' 1.5gh units they will mine for 5 months over the summer

and allow us 'crumbs' of pre-orders in the fall ...after driving up difficulty another 30% say...thus, the choice is see all your pow-scrypt current miners scrap'd

and watch bitmain play these games and have to 'start over' with their products on their timeline in say late fall...

so my point to the 'voltage' fix...sure...it helps a lot....say you get 15% reduction in power..sure...it helps...but just saying...looks a bit rigged...Bitmain...coupons expireiing (most) june 1st, I think it is, etc, etc

and may not really matter much in the next month if trends continue..the end result is pow scrypt pretty much centralized to bitmain data halls and the rest of

the stuff doorstops ..remember we are looking at 30% difficulty rise per month....we saw this game by KNC in 2014 using pre-order money to make BTC Neptunes for

their data halls first and then release to thenpublic...they were good for 5 months and made 25% of cost back at best.....not exactly the same thing...but the intent to

control pow-scrypt seems to ben the same...as KNC BTC tricks ..back in the day...

I will get this stuff up eventually, electrician issues on the place I'm hosting and they have to get 160 L3+'s up (bigger folk than me) thus probably  be 2

weeks before a guy can get to these mods on my stuff

anyway, we will be the first to know I guess

I'll get the donation out as soon as 1) installed 2) and see what I'm making to give him appropriate $$$ he deserves... but a couple months more of sideways

in price with difficulty rises and especially if bitmain really does have supposed 1.5gh units for pow scrypt coming out this summer and same pre-orders for fall

that has me a bit concerned...hopefully I'm dead wrong in a big way...

later
brad
