2581  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you think DEX is safer? Here is why I don't on: March 18, 2022, 04:56:49 AM
There are pros and cons when you use DEX or CEX.

On CEX, as a user, you don't own your private key for your wallet that put your capital under risk of scam exit, hack, exchange seize, shutdown, whatever. In general, without key, you won't be able to control your coin.

On DEX, you own your private key and sometimes, you will have to approve access to your key for swap, trading, etc. When you done, you should revoke such access approval, with tools such as

However, for people who are bad at security for their devices, passwords, wallets, etc. Using DEX means some risk, even more than on CEX. Because if they lose such information, there is no second, third protection layer for them like on CEX. So their coin will be more easily be stolen than on CEX in such cases.

2583  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which wallet is safe for keeping large amount of btc? on: March 16, 2022, 02:41:43 PM
Others gave you some good wallets to choose. In crypto, you must practice decentralization for your capital. It is not only applied for investment but also for how you store your coin in wallets.

If you have Bitcoin, let's store your Bitcoin into different wallets. Don't store your coins in multiple addresses in one wallet because it does not make sense to protect your capital at all. If that wallet is compromised, all coins in all addresses inside will be stolen.

If you have your coins in multiple wallets, when one is compromised, others can still be safe.

Better, let's use multi-signature wallet that means to steal your coins, hackers will have to hack enough co-sign wallets. That sounds very impossible if you secure your wallets well enough.
2584  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: passphrase instead of password on: March 16, 2022, 02:18:28 PM
Don't reuse password
Use strong password

Let's see how difficult a password can be brute-forced. Remember that when you set up a password for your wallet, it serves as a protection and barrier for accessing your wallet private key. So in case you lose your private key somewhere else, that password does not protect your coin. Because a person who get your private key can import your wallet and steal your coin, even does not know a password for the wallet on your device.
2585  Other / Meta / Re: Lock Russian section. on: March 16, 2022, 12:21:35 PM
I strongly believe there are always good people in any nation so does Russia. The war, this invasion was triggered by the obsession on power and Great Russia of only a single person, Putin. Why does he have such obsession?

Because he grew up under the Soviet Union and after taking over the power from Yeltsin, he has been given too much time on top of Russians. He has been given power and time to change Russian Constitution and the political, governmental infrastructures there. Russians have to do something to stop it. Else they will live under dictatorship, after Putin will be another one.

On this forum, you can not have full investigation and screening process on good or bad members on moral aspect and others. To over response by locking the Russian local board is too harsh and unfair for them.

I don't support Putin, his war, his invasion, his war crimes but this proposal is unfair, in my opinion.
2586  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Introducing lower leverage in 2x and above leveraging derivatives' exchanges on: March 15, 2022, 10:27:45 AM
When you are talking about leverages for your trading, you should calculate at what price your position will be liquidated at specific entry price and specific leverage for that position.

It helps you to imagine clearer about what might happen with your position, capital and have appropriate plan. Sometimes, if market has Cascade effects and your position can not be closed above liquidating price, you will lose most of capital by liquidation.

Each exchange has different formula for collateral and liquidation, make sure you read it carefully.
2587  Other / Archival / Re: It's time to create full-featured Ukrainian locale on: March 15, 2022, 06:09:09 AM
The current Ukraine thread in Other languages/locations section only have 5581 posts, it's not the biggest since Vietnamese and Pakistan have more higher posts. Also Ukraine aren't active anymore started from 6 months ago, October 2021-March 2022 only create 22 it's really low activity.
Total posts, total pages don't make sense in terms of quality. Many pages in Vietnamese local thread is from years ago and full of spam. That's why that thread was locked (originally locked permanently) years ago (2018 perhaps) before I successfully asked for unlock it. After that, it is very inactively.

I unlocked the thread. Please report any spam or blatant abuse of this thread to staff using the report to moderator button. If it's found to be abused again by spam and people do not report it the thread will be re-locked. Thanks.

I guess the main reason why Ukrainians post more often in Russian local board is firstly that is a local board, not a local thread that makes it better organized, more easily to find what you need and discuss with. Secondly, almost similar language.

However, I do see the point that the terrible war and invasion from Russia that triggered by Putin changed all. I am sure that it has changed all communication among Russians and Ukranians. Therefor, Ukrainians will have more reasons to request for their own local board.

2589  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk Wont Sell his Bitcoin on: March 14, 2022, 11:12:48 AM
I'm not sure what he thinks but yeah, Elon Musk had nothing to prove from us. Even he had a lot of Bitcoin and shitcoins in his wallet, we actually don't care. Well, if he doesn't sell, then that was okay, he knows what he is doing, I think. It was his decision anyway, we can't force him to sell either /or maybe he has a plan in the future and saying he and the Tesla company accepts Bitcoin again.
Elon Musk is only one of whales on the market. There are not many whales that own 1000+ Bitcoin according to https://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-bitcoin-addresses.html

However, it does not mean Elon Musk is the only whale who can have more than 1000+ Bitcoin. Honestly, I don't care whether he owns more than 1000 Bitcoin or not. He can be one of most famous whales because he has 2 big and famous companies behind: SpaceX and Tesla and huge followers on Twitter. Fortunately, if a nation in which very high hash power of Bitcoin located like China can not shut down Bitcoin network, Elon Musk can not do it. What people believe in is his tweets (do you can verify the truth of such tweets) and react or over react with his tweets because they are too vulnerable mentally as well as too speculative on the market.

Keep it simple with Bitcoin: invest, DCA if possible and HODL as strongest and longest as possible. You will see good price to take profit.

Military and political consequences may follow if the two countries join the pact, Sergei Belyaev, director of the Second European Department of Russia’s foreign ministry, told the state-owned news agency Interfax. Their non-participation in NATO is “an important factor in ensuring security and stability in northern Europe,” he said.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-03-12/russian-official-warns-finland-sweden-against-joining-national
Will they warn the whole world?

If Finland and Sweden show the same intention to join NATO like Ukraine, will Putin start other wars in those nations? Will he use the reason to denazification in those nations to legalize his war in his distorted perspective?

Putin is suck and he is destroying himself as well as Russians. Dictators often don't have happy endings if they are mad. Putin is mad with his power now so I expect an unhappy ending for him.

If communism is good, the whole world accepts it. In fact, only a few nations now have communism and Putin wants to bring it back in Russia. What for? For his dictatorship mainly.
2592  Other / Meta / Re: Curiosity about being merited for a comment on a 4-months old locked thread. on: March 13, 2022, 04:47:43 AM
I doubt if there is any way to find poorly merited quality posts among someone's post history in a quick way.
You can bookmark [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source and take some reported unmerited posts by forum members[/url]. It saves your time but sure not all good unmerited posts are reported there.

Or in The future of Bitcointalk: Low Ranking Top Merit earners in the past 30 days

I am thinking of another way, if you want to aim at a specific member. Check their merit distribution over boards/ sub-boards with Ninjastic.space; get their most merited boards; check their posts in that board in which the user earned most of merit.

Example:
Probably it is one of methods scan for potential good posts.
2593  Other / Meta / Re: Services that threatens the forum on: March 13, 2022, 03:32:07 AM
You can always report a post if you think it's negative spirit for the community.
OP should read [Unofficial Guide] Reporting effectively (by @Welsh) to understand and practice reporting more effectively.

The mods will handle it if they agree with you.
Moderator usually handles report in either good or bad. There are few cases when moderator marks reports as unhandled. Sometimes, if you re-report a post, another moderator might be assigned and results can be different.

2. If I want to keep my assets in a stable coin which one is the best? he said DAI but I'm not sure as all I see online is USDT.
You can get list of available stable coins on ether Coinmarketcap or Coingecko.
There are many FUDs and bad reports on Tether USD (there is a given article above too) so it is risky if you store all your stable coin in USDT. I mean you should decentralize your stable coin budget into different stable coins that can be USDT, USDC, DAI, BUSD.

BUSD is centralized as same as USDT while DAI is decentralized. However, BUSD is the second largest stable coin just after USDT. In addition, the growth rate of BUSD is very steady as pointed out in Stable coins - Price, volume history and changes with bitcoin fluctuations

For me, USDT, BUSD and DAI are my choices and my strategy is never put all my stable coins into a single stable coin.
2595  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to know more about mixers and untraceable transactions on: March 13, 2022, 03:00:54 AM
  • [Guide] Decent mixing methods. It is a guide on what coins you should use for your anonymity and how to mix your coins.
  • The best mixer for Bitcoin as I know is ChipMixer. [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented. If you are interested about them, you can ask in their ANN thread. Chipmixer team are actively on the forum and will answer you. Additionally, there are many tech gurus in ChipMixer campaign who can support you too.
  • Wasabi wallet is a good one to use with CoinJoin transaction but please pay your attention on their guides on how to choose anonymity set and avoid to often recombine your mixed coins

Wat?

Russia isn't ruled by communism since the collapse of the Soviets. If you want to see what communism looks like
I knew the collapse of Soviet Union which looks like a began of something good. Putin took over and has brought it back unofficially. No one can deny what Putin has done is his attempt to bring Soviet Union back. From Russian politics to the current war, invasion in Ukraine.

What he distorted his national Constitution just because of his own power is a big shame. Such constitutional distortions happen in Russia, China, Belarus, why? Because they are under dictators and politics there are a joke. Dictators obsess about themselves, then think and say without them, their nations will collapse. No one can take over their positions at the moment so they have to change national constitutions.  Undecided
2599  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: March 12, 2022, 09:54:30 AM
Communication, propaganda in communism are full of lies because they are dictators and have almost full control in their regimes. It is normal to see how Putin tries to insert as many lies as possible into his communication machines.

Don't trust what communists say, see what they do. Apply it with what Putin says, what he does. I don't generalize what Putin does, what he is with what Russians are because it is absolutely wrong. However, if people trust Putin, in my opinion, they are either stupid, blinded or too naive.

What's wrong with Russians are they let Putin has power for too long, more than 20 years and allow him to change Constitution as much as he wants. It sucks and now I hope they see it's time to fight back Putin, for their own sake of freedom and the power of Russian people.

Electrum is a SPV (Simplified Payment Verification) wallet which is light in terms of storage. It's good to use if people don't have much priority on privacy.

Not only with Electrum but also with any wallet, don't trust, verify.
