2741  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: MobileCash MBL on: September 25, 2015, 01:07:09 PM
two news...

the good one:
MBL is supposed to be on C-cex exchange soon (sooner than next voting Wink )
and the not very:
MBL on Coinotron - will be delayed (due to: work overload)

There are 2 good news about MobileCash to be added on exchanges Smiley

Have you decided yet about the price of the coin or the exchange will decided their self at how much will MBL costs?

I'm not able to decide about the price, the same way like Ripple is not able to decide about price now.
- since they have placed some part of XRP on the market, and XRP price is market price.

You certainly can push the price down close to zero, since you're holding 1B premined coins, and probably all the way to zero since I doubt anyone is gonna sock 10 BTC at 1 sat.

You could also support the price above 10 sat quite easily, since the coin has only been out a few days, let's say a week, that's about 200k coins (excluding you're huge premine). You could buy all 200k coins at a price of 10 sat for 0.2 BTC. Since you supposedly have business partners and a plan for a business, one might think you would have the resources to spend at maximum $40/week to keep the price above 10 sat.

Also, nice logo.

Latest git will disconnect versions less than 0.9.2.16  Smiley

Also, try deleting your peers.dat file. Running fine here.

Yea, I guess I updated bot daemon and forgot to do home one. Doh! Reindexing now Smiley

Warning: The network does not appear to fully agree! Some miners appear to be experiencing issues.

Seems like most people are updated, but getting this message from myriadcoind. Is there a way to check hash on old fork v. hash on new fork?

othe's guide to investing in Monero:

1) Buy 10k XMR
2) Place two bets for 5k each at monerodice
3) Donate the proceeds from one win to development and "reinvest" the winnings from other bet into dice
4) Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you somehow own more coins than actually exist
5) Huh
6) Profit!

Happy hard fork day everyone

Just a quickie - I have already performed a reindex with the latest client, will I have to reindex again after block 1400000 or can I just sit back & watch it happen?  Wink

You should be fine if you're using v0.9.2.16.
2746  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unitus (UIS): 1st Multi-Algo Merge-Mined on: September 24, 2015, 12:36:06 AM
For anyone interested in GPU mining, depboy just released a modified version of PiMP that autoswitches between MYR and DGB and merge mines UIS:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1186670

Cool!

I've been mining at uni.suprnova.cc, which merge mines with CANN.  The free CANN is nice, but there's a lot of competition in X11.

So I just started CPU mining Yescrypt at http://p2pool.e-pool.net:8938/static/ - I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my CPU gets more hash with Yescrypt than my GPU, so that means I can mine Unitus and still have my GPU doing something else.  Maybe I'll still merge-mine at suprnova, but I only have Nvidia cards so I can't use PiMP.

There is a modified PiMP for nvidia (targeted for vertcoin, but I'm pretty sure it would work for other stuff), called kopiemtu (I think). The dev of kopiemtu is coincidentally launching his own shit/scamcoin today called mobilecash (MBL).
2747  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The 2.0 throwdown thread on: September 24, 2015, 12:22:50 AM
First of all, THANK YOU for this thread! It's awesome! I am going through all of these things (which just lead me farther down the rabbit hole LOL) and have seen a few changes since your latest update of Sep 1st. I don't own any XCR, as least not yet if I buy any, but it is apparently only closed source for about a quarter and THEN is released on GitHub. To call it completely closed source is not quite accurate. I was turned off by it at first as we all know that open source is really the only way to go, but can see where they are coming from to try and keep their "edge" from clones. I also agree with possibly dropping Burst as I can't see any real movement since what, April?

Just my .02

Thanks, it's been a busy few weeks between work (end of fiscal year) and kids (school starting), but I'll try and do a bit of an overhaul this weekend.
2748  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: MobileCash MBL on: September 24, 2015, 12:21:08 AM

Low diff promotion prolonged, till block 4032 Smiley

I'd suggest that low diff promotion (in addition to lack of a windows wallet and to a lesser extent mac) is just a scam for more instamine, but clearly that isn't necessary in this case (since dev has premined 1B coins, more than the amount that will be emitted in the next 90 years, and has no plans to do any promotional giveaway) Tongue

2749  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LINKING MONERO WALLETS on: September 22, 2015, 10:05:13 PM
I think the words untraceable and unlinkable are used to describe the function of stealth addresses and ring signatures, respectively, though I might have them reversed...

2751  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Upcoming Myriadcoin hardfork: Make sure you're using v0.9.2.16 on: September 22, 2015, 12:13:12 PM
Just a reminder that Myriadcoin is hardforking soon (1-2 days from now) to allow auxpow on its sha and scrypt algos, as well as to adjust difficulty retargeting and increase block times by a factor of 2x. More info regarding the fork and links to the latest wallets can be found here:

Also, depboy has just released a modified PiMP version called Skein pimp that includes auto profit switching between Myriad and Digibyte, as well as auto merge-mining with Unitus. You can find more info about that here:

2752  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Smooth VS VNL on: September 22, 2015, 12:06:54 PM
Everything here was already over discussed in several threads already

OMG, it's the hand-waving 'old news is old' defense!

Are you Hillary Fucking Clinton's understudy or what?

The fact VanillaScam's main dev is a proven code thief is still extremely relevant.  The importance of that revelation does not expire or diminish in some kind of media half-life equation.

What traumshiff said is all this is over discussed on more than few threads and not one shit what you, smooth and your alter ego accounts said hasn't been proven. Even gmaxwell was only fishing with his 'quiet words of warning' and that was after john-connor warned him and other BTC devs about problem and proposed solution... so, go prove that john-connor stole the code and don't take only 50 lines of code, check all the code on github. Check it and prove it. You know what percentage of code must be the same not similar that you can claim something is stolen. VNL code is different. If you think otherwise PROVE IT or GTFO together with your vicious XMR don't know how to code frends.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Substantial_similarity
Quote
In U.S. copyright law, substantial similarity is the standard used to determine whether a defendant has infringed the reproduction right of a copyright. The standard arises out of the recognition that the exclusive right to make copies of a work would be meaningless if infringement was limited to making only exact and complete reproductions of a work.
...
Courts have relied on several factors to aid in a striking similarity analysis. Among these are:

1. Uniqueness, intricacy, or complexity of the similar sections.
2. If the plaintiff's work contains an unexpected or idiosyncratic element that is repeated in the alleged infringing work.
3. The appearance of the same errors or mistakes in both works.
4. Fictitious entries placed by the plaintiff that appear in the defendant's work. For example, fake names or places are often inserted in factual works like maps or directories to serve as    proof of copying in a later infringement case since their appearance in a defendant's work cannot be explained away by innocent causes.
5. Obvious or crude attempts to give the appearance of dissimilarity.

I think the bolded entry is particularly relevant in this case, based on the copied errors pointed out by rnicoll earlier in the thread.

As for how much needs to be copied in order for it to amount to copyright infringement, that seems a bit more complex:
http://www.scottandscottllp.com/main/software_ip_legal_considerations.aspx
Quote
Substantial similarity between competing software works is the third element of the copyright infringement claim. In assessing whether a computer program has been infringed, the Fifth Circuit has adopted the “abstraction-filtration” method proposed by the Tenth Circuit in Gates Rubber Company v. Bando Chemical Industries.
...
The goal of the analysis should be to determine whether any copied elements constitute “matter that is significant in the plaintiff's program.” This is a qualitative, rather than quantitative analysis, the outcome of which will depend heavily on the unique facts of each case.

It can certainly be far less than 50% to qualify as copyright infringement.

One of the more famous U.S music infringement cases involved ex-Beatle George Harrison, who was found by a jury to have “unconsciously” copied the Shirelle’s composition “He’s So Fine” in his 1971 hit “My Sweet Lord.” Although George Harrison’s hit was found to be strikingly similar to the Shirelle’s song, it is even possible to infringe another song if only just a few notes are “borrowed.” Because the most memorable part of a song may be quite brief, infringement of a musical composition may be found even where only a small portion of a song was copied.

So basically India just mandated that they operate in the stone age.  Good job.

Does this mean that bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are basically illegal there now?

In normal use Bitcoin does not encrypt anything, nor does Monero. Signing is different from encrypting, and most cryptocurrencies don't have any kind of encryption function, although there are some alts do add "encrypted chat" or "encrypted messages" functions.

The new stealth payment IDs in the development version of Monero could be considered encryption (for encrypting a very short 64 bit message).

What about encrypting your wallet file?

Hello, new investor here. Do you guys have a preferred exchange where you want me to buy?

Thanks.

Edit: that would be cryptsy judging from the recent posts here.

Hey what's up. Yeah, Cryptsy is where the huge sell wall is, buy from them.

I have to say Cr(a)yptsy's new policy of charging 0.5% withdrawal fee seems pretty shady. It popped up while I already had coins there, now it's gonna cost me a lot more than anticipated just to get my coins of their site.
2755  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [MYR] Myriad 0.9.2.16 REQUIRED UPDATE | 1st Multi-PoW on: September 22, 2015, 12:04:05 AM
you are not planing to move to pos right ?

because i bought 3 r9 for this  not so long ago, i need to mine at leas 1 year to pays them back
i don't see something els what i can mine

I'd say no way. I'm 99% sure that PoS will not be implemented in any fashion. Upcoming hardfork adds auxpow for SHA and scrypt algos and increases block target time to 1 min (5 min target per algo). The increase in block target time will slow inflation, which you hopefully have factored into your calculations, but no PoS.

New MyriadSwitcher version 0.3.8 released. MANDATORY UPGRADE

Everyone using MyriadSwitcher please redownload. I upgraded the wallet to v0.9.2.16

2758  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Smooth VS VNL on: September 20, 2015, 11:18:34 PM
Use common sense. NO dev codes non stop 24/7/365 for a year constantly pushing code to github to make a scam coin. The 500 scam coins you see pop up here every year are from no talent "devs" that spend a few hours cloning a coin, putting up an ANN, and doing a 1 week pump and dump Yobit coin and then disappear. I think even with all our disagreements, we can surely agree that VNL is NOT a Karsen or clown dev. few hour clone job from a serial shit coin dev. that just pumps out shit coin after shitcoin with pre-mines and ICOs that all fail. Whether you like John Connor and Vanilla coin or not, he definately deserves to be held in high regards with similiar devs from XMR, DASH, DOGE, LTC, and other top coins. He has nothing in common with bottom barrel Yobit or C-Cex coin devs that pump out crap coin after crap coin, and Ocminer has attested to that, and he has seen more crap coins than anyone here, LOL.

Did you read the OP:

Quote
john-conner's project, Vanillacoin (VNL), includes a significant amount of reformatted and, at best, lightly-edited Bitcoin code which has illegally and unethically had its attribution and copyright notices removed. In addition, he describes Vanillacoin as written "from scratch in its entirety", a false, misleading, and fraudulent claim that is being used to promote his coin. Given that this shows dishonesty, low credibility, and willingness to engage in unethical conduct, extreme caution is advised.

The issue is whether he illegally and unethically used Bitcoin code without attribution. The answer is 'yes'.
2759  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Smooth VS VNL on: September 20, 2015, 08:57:12 PM
The fact that gmaxwell would even acknowledge and talk about john-connor shows that vnl dev is the real deal.
Do you think gmaxwell would even converse with Karsen or shitcoin #968 dev? I highly doubt he converses with
the hundreds of clown clone devs.

It wasn't really a conversation, more of a quiet word of warning:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=920344.10

Quote
Greeting, this evening john-connor showed up on the Bitcoin Core github with some rather aggressively ignorant minunderstandings of basic cryptographic consensus concepts: https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/5634#issuecomment-69481908

Having no clue who he was I looked at his github account and googled a bit and found that he is the, seemingly pseudonymous, author of "Vanillacoin".

Vanillacoin was previously discussed on this forum, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=890388.0 but he locked the threads in order to shuffle the users (victims?) off to someplace out of the light of day-- never a good sign, (nor is his BCT newbie account, for that matter).  The "vanillacoin" software has no source code available, it is binaries only (very much not a good sign, and usually severe malware concern; and an ultimate form of centralization), there are source links but they go to a basically empty github repository. There is a whitepaper, which like the comments on github show some general software development background they show no real sign of sophisticated understanding around decenteralized systems for adversarial networks or cryptocurrencies.

I don't know anything more about it, but I figure sunlight tends to be a good disinfectant; and with the threads locked it probably wasn't fair of me to say nothing while I was privately thinking "hm, that all smells pretty fishy".  Of course, the guy was a bit rude to me and also wasted my time-- so feel free to factor that bias in however you like. I'm just reporting my impression as a regular community member. You now know what I know.

[I'm the last person to play altcoin-cops... I mostly avoid this stuff except for the rare cases that are technically interesting: The drama can sink unbounded time and usually, when it comes to the more misguided altcoin cryptography, the only sane policy seems to be "If you see something, say nothing and drink to forget": there is too much crazyness and risk of being attacked for being critical of someones latest scheme. But if it shows up in my face, I can't quite stomach saying nothing at all.]
2760  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: MobileCash MBL on: September 20, 2015, 03:19:22 AM

Even 5 sat seems pretty unlikely. There are 100B doge in existence at a price of ~50 sat, so even 5 sat would give this guy's premine a value of ~$1.2M (since market cap of doge is ~$12M). I guess it's possible, but I doubt it.

versus

Quality is better than Quantity
10.5 BTC @ 1 satoshi   Grin

1sat = 10.5 btc
5sat = 52.5 btc

one btc is not 22850 $ yet (unfortunately... Smiley )

P.S.  if I was mischievous, I would say you and patronis - are trying to buy it cheap... Smiley
(just kidding)

Sorry, I thought the premine was 100B, not 1B. I still wouldn't buy a single coin at 1 sat.
