2901  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why so much hassle finding Fiat/Altcoin pairs exchange? on: June 11, 2020, 12:17:00 PM
I was hoping this would be easy to do

ie. find Fiat (preferably GBP)/Alt coins exchange with multiple pairs

Other than BTC and ETH this seems to be a lot of hassle

and the idea of having to convert several times to find a pair kills the deal due to fees

any views on this?
The widely used fiat pair for cryptocurrencies by international exchanges is USD. It's the discretion of the exchange whether they will add other fiat pairings or not. If they don't, it's probably because there is not enough demand for it or they don't want to run into another trouble with regulators.

Try local based exchanges instead. They usually have their national currency paired with cryptos - https://www.finder.com/uk/cryptocurrency/exchanges

By the way, here are some international exchanges that has GBP pairings:

Coinbase
BiboxEurope
Bitstamp (unsure if trading is allowed already)

2902  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How To Avoid High Transection Fees Like This on: June 11, 2020, 11:08:44 AM
Like what the OP of that thread says, the 10K+ eth for fee is most likely a fat finger. One way to prevent that is to not change the default fees.

In your case, you really have no option but to wait until the network is less congested.

~You can use this site to have idea on the current gas price:

Yes, this is recommended if you plan to set the fees manually.

2903  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: NEW MEMORANDUM OF BIR CIRCULAR NO. 60-2020 on: June 11, 2020, 09:31:54 AM

Kakarampot pa ba yung 250K per year?

In addition to what I said above, POGOs are required to pay taxes. Kaya nga may mga sinasarang unregistered at tax evading POGO service providers eh.

It actually pays to read more into the provisions at mga further explanations/clarifications para hindi tayo bara-bara sa mga komentaryo natin.

Allow me reemphasize this:
Business registration does not automatically mean you have to pay taxes.

2904  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Picasso artwork sold for crypto on: June 10, 2020, 06:41:41 AM
This from the article:
Quote
This milestone is made even more special since IDON Tokens have not yet entered public exchange.  The seller has such a strong belief in the vision and value of Idoneus in building the new economy for luxury assets, that the seller found more value in owning IDON vs owning a piece of art by an iconic artist.

Who is going to believe that sh*t?

That "anonymous" seller is certainly not wiser than the UK artist who sold his 19 paintings for 490 bitcoins.

2905  Local / Pilipinas / Re: The Anti-Terrorism Act and Why Non-Custodial Wallets Will Be Important on: June 10, 2020, 05:03:55 AM
SB 1083 is still under review by the President. It's not signed yet kaya mas maganda siguro "Bill" muna ang gamitin sa title kesa "Act" to avoid confusion. Nasanay na kasi tayo sa Republic Act.

Naging matunong sa balita maging sa social media ang Senate Bill na ito dahil na din na maaaring ma-apakan yung basic rights natin sa 1987 Constitution under Section 4 about freedom of speech at sa right ng mga tao mag-protesta sa sariling gobyerno na nung June 5 kahit hindi pa napapasa yung Senate Bill 1083 ay may mga nakulong ng estudyante galing UP sa Cebu. With both legislative departments (Senate and Congress) approving the bill ang kulang nalang ang pirma ng ating presidente para maging batas ito kaya dapat maging ma-ingat na tayo lalong lalo na pag-dating sa ating mga assets dahil literally kahit sinong normal na mamayanan ng Pilipinas ay maging "person of interest" ng gobyerno.
For other readers na hindi makakabasa, it's also in the linked article that the reason for the arrest was not because of their dissent but because of violation of ban against mass gatherings. Only church and seminar gatherings pa lang yata ang allowed pero at a limited capacity.

AFAIK, all non-violent protests prior to the quarantine were allowed (pati yung mga pagkakalat at pag-vandalize). IIRC, the President even directed the law enforcers to exercise maximum tolerance.

When I say anyone can be a person of interest aka a suspect sa pagiging terrorista sinasabi ko na lahat tayo ay pwedeng maging under surveillance as well na din ma-violate ang ating right of privacy from communications.
Under Sec. 16. Surveillance of Suspects and Interception and Recording of Communications, required ang law enforcers na kumuha muna ng written approval from the Court of Appeals bago maisagawa ito.

Why Will SB 1083 Be a Concern to Custodial Wallet Hodlers?

Quote
Sec. 36. Authority to Freeze.

Upon the issuance by the court of a preliminary order of proscription or in case of designation under Section 25 of this Act, the AMLC, either upon its own initiative or request of the ATC, is hereby authorized to issue an ex parte order to freeze without delay: (a) any property or funds that are in any way related to financing of terrorism as defined and penalized under Republic Act No. 10168, or any violation of Sections 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 of this Act; (b) property or funds of any person or persons in relation to whom there is probable cause to behave that such person or persons are committing or attempting or conspiring to commit, or participating in or facilitating the financing of the aforementioned sections of this Act.

The ATC (Anti-terrorism Council) may designate an individual, groups of persons, organization, or association, whether domestic or foreign, upon a finding of probable cause that the individual, groups of persons, organization, or association commit, or attempt to commit, or conspire in the commission of the acts defined and penalized under Sections 4, 5, 6, 7. 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 of this Act.

The assets of the designated individual, groups of persons, organization or association above-mentioned shall be subject to the authority of the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) to freeze pursuant to Section 11 of Republic Act No. 10168.

This includes not only bank accounts under your name pati narin ang pera mo digitally from GCash, PayMaya, at kasama narin ang Coins.PH wallet ninyo which is a custodial wallet dahil hindi niyo naman hawak private keys niyo dito. Ang gobyerno under AMLC ay may kapangyarihan utusan ang bangko ninyo, stock broker ninyo, ang kumpanya ng Globe, Smart, at Coins.ph na i-freeze ang mga account ninyo upon suspicion of being a terrorist. You as a suspect ay wala kang kapangyarihan na makuha ito not until you clear your name in front of the court.

How Will a Non-custodial Wallets or Hardware Wallets Help?

Ang non-custodial wallet being decentralized in nature gaya ng Electrum or hardware wallets like Ledger Nano S or Trezor Model T will basically make AMLC powerless pag dating sa pag-control ng cryptocurrency mo. Why? It's decentralized not only na ikaw lang ang may hawak nito ikaw lang din ang nakaka-alam ng private keys at recovery phrase mo meaning kahit kunin pa nila yung laptop mo or hardware wallet mo maaari mo pa din ma-access ang cryptocurrencies mo with the use of your recovery phrases. At least pag maging suspect ka man (knock on wood) at ma-freeze lahat ng assets mo meron kang cryptocurrencies na makakatulong sa iyo to fund yourself with a better lawyer or for your family to be able to afford bail. Generally para na din sa other assets mo like cash hindi na ito yung tamang panahon para ilagay mo lahat ng pera mo sa isang lugar kung saan may kapangyarihan ang AMLC to freeze it, even though I'm against the idea of keeping some extra cash lying inside my house I think this should be a wise option now.
Again for other readers who are not aware, ang freezing of assets ay hindi na bago at nakapaloob na yan sa RA 9160 (Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2001).

Aside from keeping majority of funds sa non-custodial wallets, let's not engage in any type of illegal activities para hindi maging mainit sa mata ng awtoridad. Let's be reminded that bitcoin/decentralized cryptos and non-custodial wallets are not tools to circumvent laws.

Advice to you young fighters, if you’re hot right now, get paid,” Jones said. “As much as the UFC is building your brand, you are building theirs. If you think your biggest paydays will come after being with the company for a while. You are wrong. I fought mega-fight after mega-fight throughout my early 20s for under $2 million a fight. I am sure ExtStock will soon be off the list of CMC and Coingecko because this is unsettling.
You talking about ExtStock exchange or ExtStock token?

If it's the exchange, it's already been marked as inactive or delisted as pointed out by @stompix here

If it's the token, it'll remain there but somewhere at the bottom. If you check it on CMC and Coingecko, you can't find relevant info about the token. It's pretty much the same as being non-existent.

No one is thoroughly retired in the sport of MMA hehehe. GSP, BJ Penn, the Dominator and other fighters have fought in the octagon again after retiring.
Yup. We've seen many fighters come out of retirement if offered a fight they wanted and at the right price. Nate Diaz is another one who will fight again anytime.

~
I'm sure Khabib would happily fight him again if the money is right.
Pretty sure Khabib said numerous times that he doesn't need the money that he will get from fighting Conor again. His response didn't come across to me as asking for more money. His father said something like "if the price is right" though. Interesting.

^ In both cases, Dana says it time and time again not to believe anything that's being posted on social media. What fighters say is not exactly what's happening behind the scenes.

About fighters retiring, why don't we make a short list of fighters calling it quits because of reported disputes with UFC pay.

Hopefully they wont really totally freeze it and would give them back into its rightful owner if not then that will just basically go to their own pockets. lol
AFAIK, the assets that were frozen will be liquidated and the proceeds will be distributed to the victims but that's after a court ruling. That process will probably take months or even years depending on the case.

"Zbellion", cool name Grin I wonder if the boomers and the millennials had a name for their "rebellions" too?

~ We don't know if the obtain document is legit or not. But it just laid out another picture of BTC, to be used to fight government. Or perhaps there are narratives from Pentagon to paint bitcoin a tool for anarchy itself.
Just look at how some people are using the ongoing protest to promote bitcoin.

Leftists hate Bitcoin, they go nuts when they discover that some people get rich from investing in Bitcoin in the early days. They also hate the idea of private citizens controlling their own money, they want the revolutionaries to be in charge of everything.

It's no coincidence that you won't find many leftists on this forum, and that a lot of people here are libertarians and conservatives - Bitcoin is a radical form of capitalism.
dumb.
"Leftists" today somehow embraced capitalism. You see them buying and using products brought by capitalism  Grin
I definitely agree with revolutionaries wanting to be in charge. From where I am from, they extort money from citizens in the form of "revolutionary taxes". Anyone who doesn't remit will be punished.

That "A portion of all proceeds will be given to the Floyd Family and the BLM movement" is BS to say the least. They used the name and yet they only plan to remit a portion? Laughable.

2913  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: June 08, 2020, 05:36:02 AM
~
By the way, on this day 27 years ago, Drazen Petrovic died in a tragic car accident. He was the first big Euro star in NBA and by many best Euro player ever. In his last season (1992-1993) he was averaging 22.3 pts, on 52/45/87 shooting, and I am sure that in the next season he would entered that prestigious 50/40/90 club. No Euro player before him had such numbers back in those days, when NBA generally considered players from Europe as 2nd rate players, not giving them any freedom. Younger NBA fans probably never heared about him, but this is what Reggie Miller had to say when they asked him about best shooters
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7AhrUIc87o

Despite having some very talented players like Kukoc and Radja, our (Croatian) national basketball team never recovered from his death, as he was was our captain and leader. If there was ever European basketball player that could be compared to MJ based on his main traits (competitiveness, leadership and work ethic) that would be Drazen.
RIP to the legend. I first heard of Drazen in documentaries.

I don't know the complete details (and I don't wanna go there) but had Yugoslavia remained intact, they could have dominated the World basketball longer and their national team would have given the 1992 Dream team real problems or even defeat them. Who knows?

It is okay though, they are still young, from Murray to White to Walker they have great youngsters, Jakob has been playing very well too, so they actually have a great young core that could get better with time, so they can miss the playoffs as long as they keep on improving with the team they have.
Looks nice in theory but we gotta consider the fact that these young cores could be separated at anytime. Murray will probably stay and become the next face of the franchise but we couldn't say the same to the other youngster.

TBH, these young core of the Spurs now are nowhere near to the big 3 of the spurs before (Duncan, Parker, and Ginóbili). so I don't expect spurs will be successful if they will not get another star players that have already prove himself from a team he is playing with now.
Definitely not but they're performing quite well. In fact, these youngsters are outperforming some of their seniors. That's a good thing and bad thing at the same time. It would have been better if the likes of DeRozan would set an example for them.
2914  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: June 07, 2020, 06:24:47 PM
I missed the event aswell as I simply forgat that Nunes was fighting last night but anyway I saw the replays and was a tight fight but in the end the winner was correct choose by the referees.
Nunes vs. Spencer was a tight fight? What? It was a very dominant performance by Nunes and she could have won by TKO. I am actually doubting that you watched the replay as you said. Maybe you should watch it for real.

Also, the referees do not choose the winner. They raise the fighter's hand but it's the judges who scores the fight and decides who wins in case it goes to a decision.

What do we think about McGregor twitter ? Do we believe him that he's gonna to retire ? Not so long ago he accepted Silva challenge and now he's retiring because he knows "the game behind the scenes" or he knows that his glory days are past him ?

So Brave is not in the league of Google, Opera and some of the top browsers in the internet, they should disable that and apologize to the community, it's cheap trick only low rate browser will do that, not a big project like Brave, this is something unexpected.
What do you exactly mean by not in the league? AFAIK, the two you mentioned are far worse when we talk about privacy. About the Binance referral, it's been the new default set up.

I was also surprised to see Binance, sponsored images, and recommended top sites when I updated to the latest version. I immediately went to the settings and disabled all that manually. Now I get to see a clean interface.

I can't remember if the google, other third party sites and social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) were disabled by default. If it's not, they can also be disabled manually.

When i am betting i watch all their old fights and i noticed that problem with Cody Garbrandt, he is super technical but sometimes he drops his hands and moves in head first, all of his knockout losses were the same, hands down moving in and getting caught. So there is no article regarding it but my take on his fights, if he could control his emotions and be technical he could still be the champion rather than hands down approach to elite fighters and today he proved that he could come back and win with a wonderful knockout.

Here is the only video i could find with all of his losses, just watch the sequence and what he is doing in those situation before getting knocked out.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHoi2Cjtews
It's more of a habit rather than him being emotional. He drops his hands while his chin is up there when he attacks and he does the same in fights where he won.

Watch that last part in his fight with Assuncao. His hands were also down while his chin is up. Assuncao connected first but his punch landed on the chest. Had that landed on the chin, Cody would have been the one lying on the floor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wyg7bwpGG04

He must do a quick response if he really want to save his huge money makers lol. But sadly he is doing nothing, it seems that he is not bothered of these shocking news at all.

Hmm, do you think Conor will do it or it's just his tactics to demand more from Dana. Your thoughts?

Like what hilarious said:
This is just their attempt at squeezing out more money.

All these "fighter's protest" isn't shocking to Dana at all. He's not bothered because it's not the first time and he knows what the fighters are trying to achieve. He'll talk to them when the time is right. I remember him saying in one interview that UFC is the best at solving problems. I like reading these "retirement" announcement but don't take them seriously. UFC and fighters will probably reach an agreement sooner or later. If not, then UFC will still move on.

I don't know about Masvidal becoming Conor but it ain't that bad to copy a seemingly successful strategy. Based on what he's accomplished so far, I think he also deserves to get bigger pay.

A coach can only be as good as how well his student listen to his coaching, in all of the fights Cody Garbrandt he lost the fight as he was not following the game plan rather he was fighting emotionally and he got the bad end of the result when he went wild and started to trade with the opponent, he would have won those fights if he could keep it technical rather than trading wild blows.
I'd like to see a video or an article that supports your claim of Cody not following what he's instructed to do.
In their first fight, Cody had all the momentum and almost won in R1. During the break, I remember Duane telling TJ to forget about setting up the kick and just throw it (something like that). Then we saw Cody getting dropped from a kick in R2 and that completely changed the direction of the fight.

Looks like Fight Island is going to be in Abu Dhabi - UFC Fight Island Location Revealed: Report

Quote
Per Combate, the UFC’s current plan is for the company to debut Fight Island on either June 27 or July 11.

Additionally, the reason Abu Dhabi made the most sense to the UFC was because of it’s less strict travel regulations and COVID-19 procedures during the global pandemic (translated by Google):

Quote
In Abu Dhabi, restrictions on international flights are less. Whoever arrives in the country is tested on landing, but is not forced into isolation for 14 days; only self-quarantine is recommended until the test result is released.

~
GGG is not too much for Manny. He is bigger of course but I believe Manny can handle him pretty well.

Coach Freddie would not be considering this fight in the first place if he believes his fighter does not have a chance.

Manny is already the greatest boxer of all time. No other boxer in the whole history of the sport has ever been an 8-division world champion.
Read the article shared by the OP first mate before joining the conversation.

For your convenience, here's what Freddie Roach said:

One thing about Manny: He doesn't just want to beat anybody, he wants to beat the best out there. He wants to fight the top guys. I like that fight [versus potential next opponent Mikey Garcia],” said Roach on DAZN's "Boxing with Chris Mannix.”

“But the thing is, Manny might want to go a little bit higher and fight GGG or one of those guys who’s supposed to be the best. I would not advise him to go to 160 pounds, no. That would be a little crazy. But putting him at 147 was a risk at one time … and it worked out really good for us."

~
GGG has slowed, I noticed the same but Manny looks like a young Manny who can beat a younger and stronger fighter than him, that is because of his technique in boxing, also, his experience and being the only 8th division world champion made his confidence to boost high, and no opponent that he will not agree to fight with. GGG is big, but Manny has been fighting big opponents in his career.
Yeah, Manny had some renaissance lately but let's not also forget that he's going to fight at 160 and at an older age now. Maybe he could still handle punches of his opponents at a lower weight class but we can't say the same for guys who are naturally fighting at 160.
