Another problem with a single prominent lobbying group is that they are subject to blackmail and other forms of exploitation. Now that you have been to their house and have been scrutinized, you should be wary of delegitimizing personal situations.
302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Report on the Bitcoin Foundation's Trip to Washington D.C. on: August 28, 2013, 04:25:17 PM
This is a load of bullshit. The regulators dont respond to anything but powerful people. And the established financial industry is way more powerful than some measly bitcoiners. All you are doing is giving credibility to an institution that has done nothing but stifle innovation, and rack up costs when it comes to the financial market. They couldnt predict the housing bubble, they couldnt stop bernie madoff, they gave trillions of dollars to institutions doing shady buisnesses. Credit Default Swaps. Very shady stuff. Now some people apparantly want to mingle with these guys. What the fuck, they are nothing but bad news. It might not seem like it, but they will work tirelessly to restrict bitcoins ability to compete with the dollar regardless of a little q & a with some bitcoiners

This "incompetence" is the intended condition. The monetary system promotes and rewards such behavior because it creates profits. And obscene profits are created by obscene behavior. If you want significant change, then I suggest investigating a resource based economy.

They do not enjoy the freedom of speech in the uk. Nobody on the Internet has the freedom of speech on a commercial website.

I am skeptical over engaging TPTB in any fashion. BTAIM, I am appreciative of the follow-up report. I would welcome additional missives from your colleagues, if they deign to inform us -- the great unwashed masses.

I think this course is the only chance we have at softer interaction from the inevitable collision of the two communities, and therefore entirely appropriate. Your post puts a huge grin on my face, though.  Cheesy

...and with that, my work here is done.

waitaminnit - nope, not quite

MSantori - was this meeting recorded? Is there a transcript available? If not, why not?

Government industry collusion is not a very transparent process.

What regulatory and enforcement methodologies did you endorse?
306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: On 'Trust': By Austin of the Life On Bitcoin documentary project on: August 27, 2013, 10:00:46 PM
Do they understand that building a tighter knit community by intimately engaging with all of the people that they depend on by building that trust is of more significant value than any currency can provide?

That is well said, and is absolutely true. LightRider, do you think bitcoin will build stronger community over the long haul?

Only in the sense that people will recognize that money is a fiction, ultimately illusory and destructive to humanity and the environment we all depend upon, and that the only true wealth we have is the relationships we have with others. While Bitcoin is a better money, it still promotes the distorted values and aberrant behaviors associated with any monetary system.

So no interest on the rainbow gradient suggestion?

BitcoinWifi Prototype Video

Irony - video not enabled for mobile.

Government industry collusion is usually not a highly transparent process. Maybe if you buy in to their paywall, you might get scraps of information.

The owner of groklaw (which she just shut down, btw), suggests https://mykolab.com/.
314  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: August 21, 2013, 07:39:25 AM
Suggestion for chartbuddy: Make the leading price edge line, the front line on z-axis if you will, a rainbow gradient with each pure color set on a modulus 10 price point. Say, red (#FF0000) is pegged to $100, and each $10 dollar increment has a gradient progression to the next pure color in either direction ($90 is Violet, $110 is Orange, etc.). That way, when the screens are put together in video format, we can easily determine the price movement.

Just an idea. What do you guys think?

After further consideration, this might work better on a modulo 5 price point color shift.

Citing the Lavabit shutdown and the need for private email collaboration rendered impossible by US spying, she is no longer updating the site.

What do you mean sucked away? Was he the victim of a computer virus?
I guess one thing you can do is periodically do a google search of that address and see if the owner shows up (I would also search TOR) .  Interestingly it shows up in a list of lost accounts here:

(note by John : removed sessID)

Meaning that I believe the web wallet operator transferred a large number of smaller deposits into a large 10k block and put them in cold storage or something.

Thanks for your comments, but you are not understanding the situation. I sent my friend 1.5 bitcoin to an address he provided to me, and they were almost immediately sucked into another address that now currently holds over 10000. There were transactions sent to that address as recently as last month. I'm asking if anyone knows who controls that address, which is likely being kept in cold storage by some online wallet provider. I'm looking for that provider. Thanks again.

Long ago, when bitcoins weren't priced anywhere near where they are now, I sent my friend some to an address he provided. He promptly forgot all about them. Now that they're worth more, he wants to know how to retrieve them. He doesn't remember where or how he got the bitcoin address, but I do know where I sent them and where they are now.

They are parked in this address, along with 10000 other bitcoins. Does anyone know who controls this block, and where my friend can reclaim them? I hope it isn't mywallet, which I think was popular at the time. Thanks for your help.
320  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DATA - Authority or Association? on: August 07, 2013, 02:54:24 AM
If there's one thing that the past has taught us, it's that when business leaders seize authority, they always do the right thing for everyone.
