3141  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bestchange keeps scammer exchangers and probably collaborates with them on: December 01, 2022, 09:18:58 PM
I wouldn't blame everything on BestChange, but I wrote about their terrible review system multiple times and I demanded improvement and update.
It's interesting that not long ago before you created this topic I asked BestChange about this KYC icons and if they can guarantee that exchange won't ask for verification, they replied NO, they can't guarantee that information is correct.
If exchange is using third party exchange they need to publicly show this and say they can freeze your coins at any time, otherwise I wouldn't use this exchange at all.

What's not okay, is anonymous exchanges that ask for personal documents. They can easily use it for identity theft, and you have no idea who they are.
I totally agree with you, and I would rather use exchanges from list provided by kycnot.me website.
I heard nice things about eXch (they don't use any third party, and they claim to have their own reserves of coins and can prove that), but I never used it so I can't claim how good or bad it is.
3142  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: FixedFloat — fully automatic cryptocurrency exchange with Lightning Network⚡️ on: December 01, 2022, 09:08:02 PM
No it doesn't mean they can. I mean it doesn't mean they can put terms like this in ToS. It's illegal. But of course they will block your funds because they'll do anything they want. And as for Bestchange's admin, I already talked with him by email. I wrote about it in my new topic here.
It's not really illegal, they can have their own terms and change them at any time, and I am not defending anyone here, just stating the fact.
If you examine what was happening with  centralized exchanges, lending platforms and some gambling website, they did hold ands seized coins of their customers many times.
In case you used russian version and there was no ToS rules, maybe you have some chance to get your coins back, that is if you can prove this somehow.

I personally found it especially suspicious that the 'last changed' date of their TOU was not updated; therefore leaving users in the belief that nothing changed since 2020. This may even be used in court to argue that any changes to the document since 2020 are not enforceable.
That is really problematic, but I would like to hear someone official from FixedFloat talking more about this issue.
Have they ever registered and wrote something in Bitcointalk forum?
3143  Other / Meta / Re: AI writing messages on Bitcointalk.org on: December 01, 2022, 08:54:03 PM
Looks a more than decent answers to me.
Do you think anyone can use this G-OpenAI platform to write posts in bitcointalk forum, and is there a way to detect this?
Maybe we need to have some kind of detector for text written by bots, but I often think that some people are worst than AI after I read their posts  Tongue
3144  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The kind of hard disk to keep your bitcoin blockchain data on Laptop on: December 01, 2022, 08:38:51 PM
HDD isn't that bad, i still use a HDD to run few full node software. Besides, 1TB SSD could be relative expensive on country with high import duty tax or low minimum monthly wage.
Around 70 to 80 euros for good 1TB SSD drives is really not a lot of money for most countries, you could even find very good deals and discount around Black Friday.
Sure, HDD drives are cheaper and you can use both of them, I prefer using HDD for storing big files that don't move, and for everything else SSD is much better.
If you have enough money to own computer and run Bitcoin node, than for sure you have money to buy one SSD drive that will last for years.
There is nothing wrong in using big HDD and old laptop for Bitcoin, just accept the fact everything will be much slower.
3145  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Warning]: Password Manager LassPass has been breached, accessed customer data on: December 01, 2022, 08:26:43 PM
Just a heads up for those who are using LastPass as Password Manager, this is the second time that they have been breached though, so that is not a good record to begin with.
I hope everyone switched from LassPass last time they had breach like this, since there are so much better options that are open source, like KeePass for example.
Hacks like this are certain to happen to any centralized websites, it's just matter of time when, even if LassPass could claim that everything is encrypted and safu, I don't trust them.
Few more open source alternatives other than KeePass are Bitwarden, KeeWeb, LessPass, Buttercup, and few KeePass forks.
Some of this alternatives are accepting Bitcoin (and other coins) donations, and that is always good to hear,

3146  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: [VELIKA LISTA] Hardverski novčanici (80+) on: December 01, 2022, 11:15:40 AM

https://onekey.so/products/onekey-classic-hardware-wallet/

Još malo novosti, Keystone hardverski novčanik trenutno ima velike popuste od 30% do 40%, a Jade novčanik je najavio poskupljenje za svoj hardverski novčanik i od 2023 biće $65.

3147  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Black Friday Hardware Wallet Less Known Deals on: December 01, 2022, 12:21:46 AM
Keystone decided to prolong their Black Friday discounts with new type of promotions offering 32% discount to first 40 customers who enter special codes.
They posted this on twitter, first it was code opensource, than they added microsd, and now they have code random.
Keystone website is also offering 30% storewide discount for two more days, but I don't think this two discounts can be combined.
If you wanted to buy open source wallet, Keystone could be a good choice with this discount codes, so try if they are working for you.
With this discounts Keystone Pro version is $114.92 + shipping, and Keystone Essential is $80.92.
3148  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Breaking] Crypto Lender BlockFi Filing for Bankruptcy on: December 01, 2022, 12:00:54 AM
The others, like Bybit or Yield App or Nexo are simple centralized platforms, they can go down tomorrow without a warning, just somebody flipping a switch and that's it and there is no list whatsoever on the hundreds of platforms that offer investment plans, not even counting the thousands of fraudulent ones.
Do you know what is happening with Nexo platfrom? Did they have any connection with FTX/Alameda and BlockFi or not?
I heard they are going down soon also, and I recently started receiving unrelated spam emails in one of my temp email addresses I used for testing related with Uphold.
It's possible that emails got leaked either from Uphold or from Nexo, and I didn't hear anyone talking about this yet.

3149  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Another One Bites The Dust - BitFront Is Shutting Down Operations. on: November 30, 2022, 11:54:06 PM
Bitfront, a U.S. cryptocurrency exchange sponsored by the Japanese social media company Line Corp, announced it had ceased new sign-ups and credit card payments. The firm also said it would stop operating within the next few months. This development followed their attempts at addressing difficulties in the rapidly changing sector.
It's not surprising they had their own ''revolutionary''shit token and centralized blockchain...
I never heard about BitFront exchange, but I am checking it out on CoinGecko website and they only had six coins listed and trading pairs for them.
CoinGecko listed around 550 exchanges, CoinMarketCap probably has the similar number, and most of the are worthless crap used only for washing money.
I would say that 80% to 90% of all exchanges should stop existing and this will probably happen in near future.

3150  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is Satoshi a Russian? on: November 30, 2022, 11:37:27 PM
The reason why I asked this question is because I have been following local boards activities posted monthly by Rikafip. Every month Russia activity is always more than double of the other countries. This means that the population of Russians in this forum is higher than other countries by large portion.
It's obvious that largest countries in the world will have biggest activity in their local boards, and that doesn't mean that Satoshi is coming from that area but they have a lot of blockchain developers.
If United States/United Kingdom/Australia would have local board for some weird reason, they would probably have the most activity in forum.
However, I never understood why China and Japan never had any big activity here.
Back to Satoshi, according to all of his written posts and messages, most likely he (or they) have British origin.
3151  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The kind of hard disk to keep your bitcoin blockchain data on Laptop on: November 30, 2022, 11:19:30 PM
I just explored hard disk several days ago because I want to focus to download blockchain data to run the bitcoin core wallet or maybe
next to run a full node.
Oh please don't use Goldenfir junk drives, it's time ticking self-destruction drive, and speed is much lower than advertised especially for stuff like Bitcoin blockchain.
When you are looking for SSD drives it's much better to check out used quality drives that have higher life expectancy, something like Samsung evo 860 or evo 870 would be just fine.
Just look at higher TBW number or bigger warranty if you are purchasing new ssd drive, and they usually have better controllers built in.

Here is one good forum post for all good SSD drives in all tiers:
https://linustechtips.com/topic/1092033-ssd-tier-list/

but, i heard research by Alvin Cox, JEDEC, that SSD drive is not safer to keep your data and will be lost in a couple of months if not turned on because SSD frive have limited life where different like HDD in general. so dwyor
HDD drives don't have unlimited life, and the have their own issues like noise and much slower speed.
Good SSD drives have big warranty and can last you five or more years or until you fill up all space.
3152  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I'm finally saying goodbye to CEX and Centralised projects on: November 30, 2022, 11:06:18 PM
If you are been told in November of 2021 that Luna will go to zero will you believe it?
Yes I would, and I think the same way for almost all worthless shitcoins and similar ponzi schemes..

If you are been told in November of 2021 that FTX will go bankrupt and others like 3AC, Genesis and Voyager will be on the list too will you believe it?
Not exactly.
I never supported centralized exchanges, but we already saw Mt.Goc and other websites going down before , so it was not impossible for similar thing to happen with FTX and others.
Lending platforms are even worse because they never calculated what would happen in serious market crash, or some of them maybe they wanted to exit scam like this.

Start Using the likes of Uniswap, DoDo, Biswap, Sushiswap and pancakeswap.

You like order book features? Yes few Dex have this already, e.g dYdX, Raydium, serum and Posi exchange.
All of this things you mentioned are not really decentralized, and I won't support anything built on centralized blockchains.
Bisq is one real decentralized exchange, and there are also wallets that support atomic swaps if you want to swap between coins.
3153  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Is there good wallet decentralized app ? on: November 29, 2022, 10:11:06 PM
But Are there such a wallet app ? If not i think it should be
Right term would be non-custodial wallet.
You should pay attention to use Open Source wallets that are tried and tested by community, audited and verified by websites like WalletScrutiny.
For multicoin wallets I would first suggest hardware wallets like Trezor, BitBox or Keystone, but you have to purchase them if you want to use them.
There are not many good alternative free software wallets, but I would say that good mobile wallet is Unstoppable.money, and for desktop you can check AtomicDex wallet.
Everything else is closed source wallets and I don't suggest using them for anything more than pocket money.

PS
It's best to stick with Bitcoin, and drop all other coins.
3154  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Securing Your Seed Phrase with Washers on: November 29, 2022, 10:04:14 PM
the acid reacts with the zinc. let's see what happens in the long run.
How long do you plan on keeping washers in this acid liquid?
One more idea is to do long term test with salt water, some stainless steel is affected by sea and salt water and corrosion can happen for cheaper stuff.
This could happen if there is no molybdenum in stainless steel mix, but we never know this until we test it Wink

Here is one example of mostly used grades of stainless steel, so better check out what type is used in your washers:

3155  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Breaking] Crypto Lender BlockFi Filing for Bankruptcy on: November 29, 2022, 09:48:13 PM
I doesn't really make a difference if the exchange is offering unsustainable interest rates to their customers, or if they are just pocketing 100% of the profit for themselves. The fact is that every centralized platforms is/was taking part in this shady and often illegal practice of just handing out customers' deposits to random third parties.
They are not that stupid to take 100% of profit.
One of the purposes for existing centralized exchanges like FTX is money laundering, and I am sure others are doing exactly the same thing.
When their job is finished they will self-collapse, and some mysterious hacker will than conveniently show up to ''steal'' the money.
Some people actually believe in the official story, but not me.

A ton of them, but only a few really big players on the CeFi loan and earn business.
Yeah but I wanted to see a list with most of them, something like CoinMarketCap or CoinGecko is doing but for lending and interest earning platforms.
That is why I tried searching something like this on both websites and I found lending and borrowing pages on both websites.
If you look carefully you will find a bunch of crap tokens like Aave, Maker, Compund, etc and Celsius token is still shown on top.

We should check this list to find the next Titanic project:

Here's an interview with SBF that just got released: https://twitter.com/TiffanyFong_/status/1597627998626160640
I just listened about half of this interview and I had to stop it at that point.
This guys sounds like being on drugs, and he repeated said word f*cking several times like he is speaking drunk in some bar.
He claims that FTX US was not affected at all and it was only FTX international exchange that got in trouble, but they are still filing for bankruptcy.
If you ask me Sam and guys like him just used Bitcoin industry and his exchange with crap tokens to wash his money and money from other people.
Case closed for me, but I doubt he will ever be convicted or sent to jail, because he has strong political ties.
3157  Other / Archival / Re: Is there a chance we get a takedown notice? on: November 29, 2022, 09:00:01 PM
I wouldn't deem any usage of it as "proper." As a matter of fact I strongly recommend staying away from ChipMixer altogether.
And we should all join your shitcoin projects right?  Cheesy
If I remember correctly you got accused of doing some illegal things before, that means we should all avoid you and anything related with you, right?
You and OGN should take each other hands and sing kumbaya song, because you seem to be plying for the same team.

I'd also reiterate that making money better traceable is not required to catch criminals. In the fiat world, authorities almost never trace cash serial numbers for criminal investigations, yet still they can get thieves behind bars. There are so many so much better ways to do it than tracing the money, which don't interfere with honest users' privacy.
Yeah, but that is why they are creating CBDC to track everything and I think some guys here will love this modern day digital slavery system.
Twisted minds of some people is thinking like this: Let's make privacy illegal and there will be no more criminal...
3158  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: I found a paper wallet on a beach ... seriously on: November 29, 2022, 08:34:59 PM
This was posted by zasad@ in Scam Accusations topic, but we see that Austalian police finally had to react about this scam!
I would like to think that someone listened my advice about police that I wrote several months ago about this, and I hope scammers will end up in prison for doing this.
They even mentioned Bitcointalk forum and our topic in this article written by Przemysław Ćwik Smiley

https://coinpaper.com/710/scam-alert-police-warn-of-fake-paper-crypto-wallets
3159  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam alert! Police warn of fake paper crypto wallets on: November 29, 2022, 08:31:16 PM
"After scanning the code, the user is asked to click on the link to access the wallet with funds up to AUD 16,000. Next, they are prompted to pay the withdrawal fee and provide their crypto wallet credentials to be able to transfer the assets to their address. Once the victim sends the money and discloses the wallet details, their balance is emptied. New South Wales Police Force detailed the scheme in a post on Facebook."
I know this scam, and we even had real victims posting in bitcointalk forum several times.
When I suggested this should be reported to polive and authorites some members said police has better work to do than this, well obviously they don't.
I have zero trust in police that are just serving corrupt government officials, but it was right thing for Australian polive to warn people about this scam than became widespread.

Here is original topic posted by member easternklaas in Jully of this year, and it is related with this article:

Ne samo da je počeo pisati u gamblingu naš slackovic, već i rastura u onom world cup contestu kojeg vodimo. Ali dobro skupine su jedno, vidjet ćemo kako će se snaći u baražu kada nema mjesta grešci.
Još sad kad Slacko osvoji taj vaš world cup contest i dobije malo više Bitcoina... ma nije on kralj bez razloga.
