2342  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens when your identity is stolen -- real story || Avoid CEXs! on: March 11, 2023, 09:45:39 PM
So are you still willing to use CEXs?
Not really, but I can understand why many people are still using centralized exchanges a lot, maybe when they are exchanging larger amount of money and they want to buy/sell lot of Bitcoins.
I am all for P2P trading and decentralized exchanges like Bisq, but let's be realistic and say that we can't expect everyone to use DEX especially if they are companies or financial institutions.
Identity and documents can be stolen anytime if they are sent for any verification, so I would suggest regular people to stay away from CEX like Coinbase, Binance., etc, or at least be aware of the risks and use them sparingly.
2343  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to be notified about the status of the mempool on: March 11, 2023, 09:17:20 PM
I monitor mempool.space and https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#BTC,24h,weight occasionally, but is there a Telegram bot or a way to be notified when the fees are below a certain threshold?
There is CryptocurrencyAlerting website that have option for mempool notifications based on megabytes or unconfirmed transactions:
https://cryptocurrencyalerting.com/bitcoin-mempool.html

Second option is website txfees.watch, and they are using only email addresses for notification:
https://txfees.watch/

You can also use my Bitcoin Mempool Fees Extension/add-on for Firefox or Chrome browser, that will allow you to easily watch the state of mempool on small ticker icon in your browser next to address bar.
This includes information you can manually choose from mempool.space (default option), bitcoiner.live or blockchain.com.
I think it would be possible to add notification to my extensions, but I don't know how to do it Tongue

USDC izgubio peg.
Neke ''zanimljive'' organizacije imaju veze s USDC, Coinbase, digitalnim identitetom, Euro robovskim CBDC,  i još nekim shitcoinima.

2345  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Crypto Nest | The Home of Cryptocurrency Hardware on: March 10, 2023, 06:20:10 PM
Passport and Keystone are both pretty awesome wallets but definitely on the pricey end. We've always thought the Ellipal Titan and Keystone wallets were pretty similar in many ways, just at
Keystone is not expensive at all, especially Essential version, and they have discounts all the time maybe because they are working on their new gen hardware wallet, that should be released later this year.
Big difference and advantage compared with Ellipal is that Keystone has open source code, while Ellipal is a closed source device and they had some embarrassing bugs in past, they are basically more or less like android phones.
If I had to choose hardware wallets I would never choose Ellipal, and they are even more expensive than Keystone, Ellipal Titan is Sale $139 and Keystone Essential is $119 (Pro is $169), plus they have from 30% to 40% discount on that.
2346  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Crypto Nest | The Home of Cryptocurrency Hardware on: March 10, 2023, 05:56:47 PM
We're keen to get some feedback from you guys, what do you think of our current product range? what products/brands would you like to see us stock? and most importantly, what can we do to help make self-custody more acessible for newbies?
Welcome!
I am not a fan of ledger hardware wallet at all, but you could add their products on your website since they are (sadly) one of the most popular hardware wallets in the world.
If you want to add more expensive quality device than I would suggest adding Passport wallet by Foundation, and Keystone hardware wallet.
There are more devices available but I don't think there are so much demand for them.

hi OP, what should I do because i can't update my Bisq app??
I don't know what's the issue in your case, but you can try downloading Bisq directly from official website or github and install application manually.
OP is not active in forum since 2022, but you can contact Bisq support in other ways that can be found on their website:

2348  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Second time of downtime in 3650 Days on: March 10, 2023, 05:05:44 PM
Tom said and i quote: It’s been 3650 Days, almost 10 years exactly since Bitcoin has had a second of downtime.
I don't know any other network in the world that has 99.98% of uptime for such a long time like Bitcoin.
There are several websites we can use for tracking exact percentage, and this is a good way of promotion whenever people tells you bitcoin is worthless.
Bitcoin total uptime is around 14 years, with 100% uptime since August 2013!

2349  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: MultiSig wallet vs Multiple SingleSig wallets on: March 10, 2023, 03:09:46 PM
Therefore, in that case, if anybody gained access to two of my backups that belong to the 24 out of 30 total backup combinations, they would be able to steal all of my money.
I don't understand why you are suggesting something knowing that it works almost the same like your current system.
If you want to increase security you can simply introduce additional passphrase on top of your 2 of 3 multisig setup, that would be more than enough.
Making so many complications can often result is losing of all your funds, so I would be very careful setting any multisig, especially if you are bitcoin newbie.

Thanks, although that's not really what I wanted to ask. You are right, but I never mentioned keeping a backup on a device that has access to the internet.
You literally said this:
...and 1 internet-exposed device.
2350  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Most Durable Hardware Wallets on: March 10, 2023, 02:52:58 PM
Hardware wallet, this is not a device for extreme recreation and hiking, respectively, will not experience excessive load.
You don't have to bring hardware wallet on hiking with you, but you can cross border, bring it on business trips and they should be able to survive natural disasters.

I understand that it's not normal when plastic breaks in the hands, but the test with hammer blows will be too much. I can test any device in the world in this way and after I break it to smithereens, I will say that it is poorly made. Smiley
I can clearly show you multipole hardware wallets that can survive test with hammer and they would survive without any issue or damage.
Almost every hardware wallet in format of credit card will score high in this test, and I know few wallets with screens that are using tempered glass, gorilla glass and metal instead of plastic.

I think this is an extra check for HW devices. Whereas a drop test (not only on the ground, but on hard surfaces too) is necessary. Testing for water permeability is also a dubious test. Under normal circumstances, who will use the HW in the bathroom or at sea? You need to test under normal average conditions.
What can I say... you obviously live in perfect world...
I personally know examples of people who washed their clothes with hardware wallets or they dropped it in water like it happens with smartphones all the time.
I don't see why  hardware wallets should be made like cheap chinese toys that easily breaks and stop working when sprinkled with water.
Floods are very common in some parts in the worlds, even my friends old house was totally flooded few years ago.
Even wrist watch I have is proven to be water resistant and it's not expensive at all.
2351  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Which best for long term investment? Hardware wallet or Software wallet . on: March 10, 2023, 02:41:31 PM
Plus it's not really "paranoid". That method of using fake I.D. and opening a P.O. Box is actually a standard safety measure used to buy "something else" from the internet.
It is paranoid and super expensive doing all this just for one hardware wallet, I am not talking if you are dealing drugs, selling alcohol or nuclear fuel all the time, so you need to have this.
But go ahead and keep recommending people to buy fake ID (aka commit crime) because that is ''standard safety measure'' in your world Cheesy
What I proposed is 100 times more simpler, cheaper and safer, plus you don't have to commit any crime along the way.
2352  Economy / Exchanges / Re: PeachBitcoin P2P mobile app on: March 10, 2023, 02:32:51 PM
According to their privacy page, they are registered in Switzerland, however, you say they without the need for any KYC verification or registration.
I can also create an app and register it anywhere I want, and I would avoid using banks if possible.

As for the data, I am talking about your bank account or any other data. You must send them during trading, and therefore it may be sent to the tax authorities.
There is nothing you are going to send for P2P cash meetups, and that is something I am mostly excited for.
If you look at the map they posted on website you would see location for all current meetups, and new ones are coming up every day.
https://peachbitcoin.com/for-meetups/

In terms of trust, downloading an unknown source application is the problem.
Yeah, but if you are using smartphone you are already using unknown source for your operating system and for most of the apps  Tongue
Nobody is stopping someone to create something similar that would be with open source code, there is clear demand for stuff like this.
2353  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Paper wallet on Android phone on: March 10, 2023, 02:14:12 PM
I guess my choice would be a Debian-kit. This is clearly the safest option from my point of view. Once this is installed I imagine I will generate privates keys offline from a safe device, and import them to an Electrum.
I would never do that when there is perfectly good open source alternative called GrapheneOS, only problem is that you can use that OS only on g00gle devices.
In ideal scenario smartphones should be like computers and you should be able to install any operating system you want, but doing that is much easier said than done.
Second best option is using something like LineageOS, DivestOS or CalyxOS that can be installed on different smartphone models, but they inferior in many ways compared to GrapheneOS.
One more plus for GrapheneOS is that you can support development and updates with Bitcoin donations.
2354  Economy / Exchanges / Re: PeachBitcoin P2P mobile app on: March 10, 2023, 12:28:20 PM
Doesn't everything sound too good about PeachBitcoin to be true?
No it doesn't.
I clearly said I don't like closed source code, and the fact that this is not available worldwide in countries outside Europe.

Have you, dkbit98, used this P2P mobile app yourself? Why do you consider "this is probably one of the best mobile P2P trading app"?
I didn't use it yet because there are currently no cash meetups in my region, but I will try testing it with PayPal and few other options soon.
It's the best P2P mobile app simply because there is nothing better available right now, it's like Bisq for mobile.

If this trading platform takes into account the interests of its users as much as possible, simplifying the exchange process, then how soon will regulators pay attention to this mobile app and tighten the use (or block it altogether)?
Nobody stopped Bitcoin, nobody stopped Bisq, and nobody stopped torrents, so it's not going to be easy to stop PeachBitcoin, but that is not my concern anyway.

It is difficult to trust them, especially since they do not have a web application. All the service is done by downloading a closed-source app, which makes me doubt the percentage of their trading volumes, or the inability to impose identity verification in the future, or at least sell user data.
Dude, it's P2P, you don't have to trust them, this is not centralized exchange and they can't sell data they don't have  Roll Eyes
I don't know what ''trading volume'' you are talking about... I will repeat... this is not centralized exchange.
2355  Other / Archival / Re: [BIG LIST] Crypto Debit Cards on: March 10, 2023, 12:17:53 PM
By spending 1 Euro, you'll get a single point and there's a limit of 12,500 points for each month [refer to the "latter part of this" page].
And they are probably going to convert those points in some worthless tokens, and since their rewards market is work in progress they say it's going to be able to exchange that points for their merchandise and items.
So customers spending money with their cards will be able to buy ''exclusive'' bybit hats and t-shirts... .. what a joke Cheesy
I would seriously be very careful using any cards that are connected with centralized exchanges.

2356  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: INFO> If you have your wallet installed on your phone you need to activate DNS. on: March 10, 2023, 11:03:02 AM
By following these easy steps, you may activate your DNS and completely protect your phone from unwanted Ads (most come with virus), etc. if you use an Android phone to store your coins and you dislike having pointless pop-up messages, blocking open wifi connections, or dangerous links when you visit a website.
Private DNS should be mandatory for everyone and Adguard is fine but I think using Mullvad VPN  is better for this purpose, they are known to support privacy a lot.
For blocking adds you should type this in your phone settings: adblock.doh.mullvad.net, and Bitcoin wallets or browsers should work just fine.
This is much better for mobile devices than installing any extensions, addons or separate apps, but for desktop browsers uBlock Origin is a king.

2358  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Most Durable Hardware Wallets on: March 09, 2023, 09:37:20 PM
We talked a lot about most durable solutions for keeping seed words backup, using stainless steel washer or plates from strong metals like titanium, but we didn't about durability of hardware wallets.
Jameson Lopp tested a lot of backup solutions, and there are people who are testing smartphones (JerryRigEverything), but I never saw anyone testing hardware wallets like this.

Most hardware wallets are made of plastic but there are few exceptions that use more quality materials like metal and glass, that will have higher rating.
I will divide hardware wallets in few basic categories based on the big list of hardware wallets we are maintaining in our local board.

Hardware wallets are usually small electronic devices that usually have small display and few buttons, there are bigger devices that looks like phones and have more buttons, and third type of wallets  looks like a regular credit cards.

Note that in some cases it might be a good idea to have hardware wallet that can be easily destroyed, to prevent anyone ever extracting any information from your device.

What are my plans for this research?
- I will try to contact hardware wallet developers and ask them if they conducted any testing on durability and if they can provide some information in public.
- I will consider if device would survive drops to ground and hits with hammer.
- Using common sense I will assume if wallet can easily be broken with hands (real testing is possible in future if manufacturers are willing to donate).
- Water resistant and waterproof features will be rated higher.
- Glass screen protection from scratches and breaks will be checked.

What can you do?
- You can post any public or private information you have about durability of hardware wallets.
- You can perform your own tests and post results here.
- Post videos and articles about destroying various hardware wallets.

Videos and articles of destroying hardware wallets:
- Destroying BitBox02 hardware wallet
- Destroying Trezor One hardware wallet; Trezor One 2nd video; Trezor One 3rd video; Trezor One 4th video
- Destroying Ellipal Titan Mini hardware wallet
- Destroying Keystone hardware wallet with a hammer

- Tangem HW tested in water; Tangem HW tested in ice cold

This is work in progress, research will take time and rating for hardware wallets is not yet standardized, but I would like to see this improved and changed in future with your suggestions.
2359  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: At what point exactly do transactions in the mempool start getting purged? on: March 09, 2023, 08:53:22 PM
But there is no problem, right? Bitcoin works just fine, although fees went up a bit. But fees have been 100 times higher than they are now, and I don't think the meme-spammers are going to pay that much for the gigabytes they're spamming.
Bitcoin is still processing transactions. Although the full mempool and dropping price reminds me of what happened at the end of 2017.
Imagine what would happen on top of bull run with much more transactions and much higher fees, it can become very hard to use Bitcoin for regular people.
Speaking about meme-spammers, they paid much higher fees on shitereum blockchain so I don't see why they wouldn't pay the same thing on Bitcoin blockchain.
Bigger problem is that someone who is malicious (including governments that have unlimited funds) can use this as a way to attack Bitcoin and blame regular people for everything.
2360  Economy / Exchanges / [UNOFFICIAL] PeachBitcoin P2P mobile app on: March 09, 2023, 08:37:44 PM
I didn't see anyone talking about Peach Bitcoin, but this is probably one of the best mobile P2P trading app alternative for Bisq exchange (that only works on computers).

Peach Bitcoin is mobile application that connects Bitcoin buyers and sellers without the need for any KYC verification or registration.
It works anywhere, anytime and you can choose many payment options including cash that you can exchange in bitcoin meetups in Europe.

Other payment methods available are Bank Transfers, Online Paymemts (Paypal, Revolut, ADVcash, Mobile Pay, Wise...), Gift Cards, and various National Options depending on your location and currency.
I think that Peach Bitcoin is currently available only in Europe, but there are plans to expand to other regions in the world.
All payment methods are available are listed on their website:
https://peachbitcoin.com/how-it-works/#payment

Peach Bitcoin app is available both on Android and iOS devices and only supported cryptocurrency is Bitcoin.
One issue I have is the fact that source code is private and not open source, but maybe this can change in future.

https://peachbitcoin.com/

If you downloaded and tested this app please write your feedback below with pros and cons.

I am not affiliated with PeachBitcoin in any way, so use it at your own risk.
