Matthew must be a pilot, at least FB thinks he is/wants to be.  hehehe Cheesy

Good eye. Went to pilots school at John Wayne Airport at 18.
3142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin app for Facebook on: June 27, 2012, 11:13:46 PM
Guys, there already exists a much better one.

I've been using it for about a month.

http://apps.facebook.com/yougotcoin/

http? so you switched off secure browsing to use a wallet app? does it work right now, cause here it doesn't.

Works the same http or https. It will convert to https automatically, won't it?

anyway, this is from seconds ago:

3143  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BITCOIN MAGAZINE ARRIVED! on: June 27, 2012, 10:25:30 PM
I was holding these back for an article, but I decided to leak them here instead. The issue in the photo got a little wear on the ride to Korea.

Enjoy!

The magazine won't be in the racks of B&N until maybe September. It takes a while to process even after the contract is signed (which it is). Asking them not to stock it though is productive though.
Will do!  Cheesy

Fixed. Good god what was I smoking. My grammar not Enlgihs good wut
3145  Economy / Services / Re: [10 BTC prize] Logo design contest for my company on: June 27, 2012, 08:10:27 PM
Anyone else see "OMG" when they see this?
3146  Economy / Speculation / Re: Uptick in sales of Casascius Coins on: June 27, 2012, 07:47:33 PM
barnes and noble blow me off when i ask them to carry bitcoin magazine. they say they have no control of what they  can stock.

Apparently, they can only stock what is in their system, and they dont have the mag in that system. Its different in each store i guess. I dunno, i ended up just buying a year subscription direct from the source because it was obvious they didnt want to help me. frustrating.

Sorry you experienced that. It's possible that the distributor hasn't fully added it into the systems yet. Wait about 2 weeks and try again.

Anyway, it'll be cheaper directly from us regardless.
3147  Economy / Marketplace / Re: 6 BTC to someone who comes up with a slogan I like on: June 27, 2012, 07:46:26 PM
Also, your mascot needs a name.

I was going for "TizzyTazzy" being the name of the character.
3148  Economy / Speculation / Re: Uptick in sales of Casascius Coins on: June 27, 2012, 07:37:07 PM
Someone needs to hit a B&N and take a photo of it sitting in the racks... B&N is a good half hour away from me.   BTW I just bought a couple Casascius coins for gifts; this thread reminded me of 'em. Thx!

I grabbed one because someone said it was a good way to show someone that bitcoins are a real representation of value.

Forgot where I saw that post.

The best way to show someone that Bitcoin is a real representation of value is to show them Bitcoin Magazine. Why would Barnes & Noble carry a magazine about a scam ponzi scheme no-value fake currency afterall?

Not that I would toot my own horn (*gasp* "Completely unlike matthew!") but given that everyone I handed a magazine to in Korea, everyone that my reps in the USA handed to etc all commented immediately on the Casascius coin, I would say that your advertisement paid off.

Hope you bought more than one spot!  Wink

I am in for next month, same ad, but with the (gold plated B) silver coin as the centerpiece rather than the gold coin.

That's a much better choice in retrospect.

3153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] The world's first handheld Bitcoin device, the Ellet! on: June 27, 2012, 12:40:53 PM
I guess it just begs the question, which I am sure has already been asked- why? I mean you're free to develop it, and I'm sure people would really love it, but I'm curious as to how useful it would really be. Since it will still be *years*  until BTC is spendable at any place you normally visit in real life, I think it's a bit premature to be designing something that will be outdated by the time it's useful. Until then, why not just get a smart phone? (Or you already have one) and use that?

Smartphone you say? Grandmas can't use smartphones. Forcing a device into the public space before there is clear demand certainly is a high risk venture but a do-it-all bitcoin device could potentially (if done right), lower the barrier to entry massively. This would give the network effect something to expand into easily and quickly. But still with great risk, comes the possibility of great reward. When Apple first coined the the name for it's "revolutionary" device the "i"-Phone I chuckled at the silly sounding name. iPhones were nothing special back then, there were heaps of mobiles with cameras and such. The iPhone however made a very polished, easy to use device that delivered a simple, straightforward and enthralling experience no other phone out there could.

Maybe the Ellet could also deliver a simple and straightforward experience for Bitcoin finances (or maybe the Bitcoin card can). It's a tough ask but even if it just makes things a little bit easier it's worth doing.

Jesus christ, someone actually gets it!  Cool
3154  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: If bitcoin become illegal? on: June 27, 2012, 02:17:31 AM
Yep.
I hope there is some lawyer pro bitcoin in this forum that can gives us good advice...

That's illegal.

By which law?

http://skeptics.stackexchange.com/questions/6852/is-it-illegal-in-the-u-s-for-legal-professionals-to-answer-legal-questions-on-p

It's only illegal under some circumstances, but I think moreso than illegal it could ruin their career and get them debarred.

An interesting link - reminds me of the job I was doing during April/May where in the vast majority of cases (over 80%) people consulted non-lawyers about the full range of legal problems someone might encounter.  The most common source of legal advice - family and friends.  (Not sure if the report we produced is public.)

And, if bitcoin becomes illegal, then I'll have to pay for my BTC magazine with Neopoints or some MMORPG- thing gold (if I ever bothered).  And yes Mathew, I did get my magazine yesterday 26th June.

Sweet! Good to hear

Can we at least get something from Mr. Blurrycam?

Mr. Blurrycam is below my standards. I'd rather have people barking in the thread than release garbage. It's coming. Sorry for the wait. I just took on 4 more projects as well including SafeBit. Little busy 'round here lately.

3158  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: This forum needs new boards on: June 27, 2012, 12:45:01 AM
I think this forum should have regional board like USA, Canada, France, etc to ease people to start projects locally and ease the formation of physical community that will use bitcoin for trading.

You must be new here. I for one, welcome you to the land of spergy tinfoil hatting privacy obsessed libertards. Did you know there are people who refuse to buy the Bitcoin Magazine because they didn't want to give the magazine a mailing address?
