321  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 21, 2024, 04:30:04 PM
Two more days until the return of NBA basketball. I think I’m going through withdrawals. There haven’t been many moves as far as signing players either. Hopefully the players return refreshed and healthy to make a run into the postseason. I expected the Warriors to make some signings or something. Weird there aren’t more free agents finding homes.

Looks like most of the teams in the NBA don't need any additions to their rosters and they just gonna fix their rotations instead of adding more players to disrupt their chemistry, especially those star players. So far, the teams that we expect to reach the playoff tree are doing good and they also dominate the league this season like the Boston Celtics, I wonder if they could keep that up and make some more wins until the end of the season games. Also, they are expected to reach the NBA finals this year since the Bucks are likely to be choked because they chose an incompetent coach instead of adding more role players to help them win more games.

That's likely because the Bucks are struggling now, while the Sixers don't have Embiid anymore and might likely miss the remainder of the season. Their biggest rival now is the Miami Heat as they still can't figure out how to defeat this team. The last time they met, they were dominated and lost big time on their home court, and that's considering Jimmy Butler was out. You can't question Boston in the regular season since they are clearly dominating, but every team has its kryptonite, and it seems like the Heat were theirs.
TBH, I'm just hoping that the Celtics will win the title this season already.
I think they've been one step away from it for the past 2 years. Last season, they almost made an impossible 0-3 deficit comeback against the Heat. If only Tatum didn't get injured in the first minute of the game, the outcome might be different. 2 years ago, they were up against the Warriors in the NBA Finals, and lost in 6 games. Now that their roster is better, I'm hoping they can conquer the East, and win that title.

The Bucks are struggling, the Sixers might have some problems as well, and I don't see the Cavaliers as a competitor as well. The Knicks for me is their main problem just by looking at their new roster. As for the West, the Nuggets might be at the 4th spot, but they're still the defending champion, and nothing much change has happened to the team so I expect that they'll be the same as they were last year. Thunder? Timberwolves? Nah they're too young of a team to compete in the playoffs. The Clippers might have a better chance of winning at least.

I'm a Warrior fan, but I'm predicting that it will be Nuggets Vs. Celtics in the NBA Finals.

Re: Does Technical Analysis Really Work?
Yes, it works, but don't look at it like a crystal ball where it can predict anything with 100% accuracy because it will never happen.
TA is what the analysts are using aside from the Fundamentals, but even the expert analysts are still making wrong predictions that's why some analysts are sharing their predictions on both sides (downward, and upward).

Now the question is "Does TA work in bull run?" because we know that during the bull run, nothing is going down, but it's all going up. I'm not an expert in TA, but I don't think that it's necessary if you want to invest. What I mean is that, when we are in a bull run, you can still make an analysis, but it doesn't matter because coins are going up at a fast pace.

TA works, but relying on it alone isn't enough. You need to know the sentiment of the investors and the fundamentals.
323  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it too advanced to get into Bitcoin now? on: February 21, 2024, 05:46:32 AM
Did the Bitcoin flight already leave investors? or is there still time to buy a ticket?
I'll ask you OP, and all other users here who are until now, thinking if they still have an opportunity.
What's the purpose of you buying Bitcoins?

If you believe that Bitcoin will go $20,000 this year then by all means, don't buy this time, but wait for that to happen. Now if you believe that Bitcoin will rise, and surpass it's past ATH this year, then you can still buy right now and have some profit. Now if you believe that Bitcoin will reach $100,000-$120,000 by the year 2025 then the market is giving you an opportunity to buy still.

At the end of the day, it all depends on you. We can say that you can still buy right now, but a few weeks from now, Bitcoin might plunge to below $40,000. On the other hand, we can say that the market will experience downward pressure in the upcoming weeks so don't buy yet, and wait, but the opposite happens. Don't trust us, but trust yourself. After all, it's your money and not us.
324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in Bitcoin, for long time Holding on: February 21, 2024, 05:10:16 AM
There are many types of Bitcoin investors, some invest for long-term holdings, while others invest for short-term holdings. But one thing is true, those who invest in Bitcoin for short term are never able to achieve anything big. On the contrary, they face more losses.
No there's one exception on the text that I bolded.
What about those traders who are successful in trading? I mean they're short-term holders of Bitcoin but they became successful? What about them then? They didn't achieve anything big? Tell that to those successful traders. Tongue

every Bitcoin investment should be long-term.
~
So those who have been patiently holding Bitcoin since then have already reaped double the return on their investment.
You don't have the right to decide for other investors out there. I can invest into Bitcoin, and hold it for mid-term only. At the same time, I can just buy Bitcoin after the halving and sell it immediately if I know that I will get profits from it. I know that Bitcoin is a good long-term investment, but is isn't only good for the long-term. At the end of the day, it will depend on the strategy of the one who's holding it. Well, I agree with what you said though. Those who are patient enough to wait for the bull run are the ones who maximize the profit now. Those who risked, and bought during the bear market are the ones who have the most profits now.

Now another big opportunity is going to come in front of us.
~
So just Hold bitcoin for long time.
Yes, a big opportunity for me to sell all of my token holdings, and will be patiently waiting for the bear market to happen again. Cheesy It's a cycle, and holding assets for years, and not taking the opportunity will lead to regret like what I felt last bull run. Hold Bitcoin for a long time? I might be holding Bitcoin for 4 years at least. When the time is right, I'll sell, and will buy again. Smiley

If there's an opportunity, always take it.
325  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum gas fee on: February 21, 2024, 04:01:34 AM
Why is it when making some transactions on Eth network the gas fee is always higher than other network?
Small block size is the main reason why Ethereum has very high gas fees.

Smaller block sizes often lead to network congestion, and knowing how popular Ethereum is, many transactions are waiting to be confirmed. Because of this, it often leads to higher transaction fees because people want to get their transaction confirmed as quickly as possible, and they're willing to pay higher fees for it. This is the reason why Ethereum has high gas fees currently.

TBH, I don't know how Ethereum will solve this high gas fees problem, and to my surprise, there are still many new projects that are being created under Ethereum, and I don't know the reason why.
326  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you feel excited while gambling on: February 21, 2024, 02:33:43 AM
I have been seeing some changes in me and it's gradually beginning not to please me anymore I don't know If I will say I am becoming too emotional with my funds but sometimes it's very painful to place a bet for about 2 to 5 consecutive times no winning and this is what is beginning to me make feels sad. I know is a game of luck but sometimes whatever we do and not feels happy we should try to quit it.
When I'm still gambling, I also experienced the same thing that you've experienced.
Winning multiple times, and then after that, a series of losses is happening that makes me lose my money in the end.

Do I feel sad about it? TBH, yes. I'm sad "FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS". After that, I'm Ok again. How's that? It all comes down to how you think about your money whenever you start gambling. My mindset when I'm still gambling is that the money that I use in gambling is what I consider as "LOST MONEY" where if I lose all of that money, I'm ok with it because I already treated it as my lost money. Do I lose every time I gamble? No, and when there's an opportunity, I withdraw a portion of my winnings, and will bet what I consider as "LOST MONEY".

With this kind of mindset of mine, I detached my emotions from it that's why I'm sad for the first 5 seconds only, but after that, I'm all good again. Being emotional with gambling will lead you to various problems like what you're feeling right now. You feel pain, and disappointment because you lose. Try to be emotionless while gambling, and you will not feel that way again. It's hard to be emotionless whether you're trading, or gambling, or investing, but over time, you will learn thru it. Trust me I've been thru it, and I don't care if I lose money anymore whether in investing, or gambling.

Overall, just be emotionless whenever you're gambling. Excitement? Sadness? Disappointment? You will not feel any of that. Learn how to detach your emotions.
327  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hey! it's $50k today. on: February 20, 2024, 03:57:12 PM
~
Can you now see the effect of the ETF approval?

What do you think...
  • An upwards trend from $50k
  • An downwards movement from here
Effect of ETF approval? I guess so because the demand is too high compared to the total number of Bitcoins being created thus, increasing its price.

We've seen the price of Bitcoin above $50,000 for a week now, and I'm thinking that it might just continue to go up. The sentiment is bullish right now with the market, and with the bull market being anticipated, many want to ride on the train, so many might buy more hence, increasing its price. I don't see any reason as to why Bitcoin can go down. Grayscale is done selling their BTC already, and we are seeing the effects of Bitcoin ETFs already. Well, I'm bullish on Bitcoin for this year, but it will not be a smooth road of course. Smiley

Downwards movement? If there's a piece of negative news maybe. I mean the US stock market is kind of bullish right now, and the S&P500 just had its new ATH,  and both are correlated with each other. TBH, I don't see any reason for Bitcoin to go down below $50,000 at least for the next 2-3 weeks. Tongue
328  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much have you made from airdrops this year, got PIXEL? on: February 20, 2024, 03:16:47 PM
I didn't get any PIXEL tokens, but I'm lucky that I'm eligible with DYM airdrop and got some tokens on it.
I'm just a bit disappointed with how Altlayer did the eligibility. The amount of TIA tokens is way too high for an average investor like me to enter. 35 TIA is the minimum, and I got lower. Anyway, I moved on with it already, and I believe that there will be many more for this year.

Just a few hours ago, Starknet launched their token already, and I've seen many people on Twitter having the best airdrop of their lives because they got so many STRK tokens. I've seen one who has around 40,000 STRK tokens worth around $100,000 which is insane for an airdrop.

Anyway, DYM is the only airdrop that I got so far, but I've been participating in different campaigns thru bridging on their website hoping to get some tokens soon. I believe that many projects will be created now that many are anticipating the bull run to happen next year hence, I'm actively participating in these airdrop campaigns. Cheesy
329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where did u put your Money ? on: February 20, 2024, 03:00:05 PM
I basically stick to idea buy low priced coins like 0.00001$ that have good potencial
so when coins get to 0.01$ its a very good profit of %
I don't get the idea of why people think that holding a huge amount of tokens will give them better profit than holding a smaller amount of tokens/coins.
I mean will you have better profit if you will hold a coin like SHIB than a coin like ETH? Just because it has many zeros at the start of it? It doesn't make any sense at all. Is "0s" the basis right now already? I didn't know that.

For my self i have 60% of assets on BTC
But i wonder on which coin you have more % invested ?
Well, having more than half on Bitcoin is always good. As for my case, when I reallocated my portfolio, it went down from more than 50% to now 40%. I might accumulate more, and more Bitcoin in the upcoming weeks to come in preparation for the bull run. As for my largest holding, it will always be Bitcoin, followed by ATOM, TIA, OSMO, and ETH. It's kind of weird TBH that I'm holding more ATOM or TIA than ETH, but I believe that these 2 coins have more upside than Ethereum so... yeah. Cheesy
330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to find and hold in Atlcoin effectively? on: February 20, 2024, 02:41:43 PM
Community, tokenomics, fully diluted value, use-case, uniqueness, transparency, developers.

These are just some of the factors that might affect my decisions on whether an altcoin is a coin to hold for the long term. It will be a different case if I buy an altcoin and hold it for the short term because, in the short term, I believe that hype is better than fundamentals or whatever factors it is. The way investors think is very different, and it depends on how long they will hold that altcoin. As for me, I'm buying an altcoin that has been in the market for quite some time, survived during the bear market, and has a huge community behind it. After all, I will just sell all of my altcoins at the peak of the bull run (if lucky).

Just always take note that the lower the market cap, the higher the risk, and vice-versa. Just think that not altcoins on the top are good long-term coins to hold as well. I guess what I also say is that, always be ready in whatever may happen because you might see your token plummeting by -80% or even more because the token you bought is a scam coin. Cheesy
331  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 20, 2024, 12:22:08 PM
I have seen a good suggestion to make it better. I have seen that maybe it should turn into USA vs World players next season to make it fun, and I think that is a wonderful idea. Maybe during the game players may not act like they care, but after a few wins from one side, the other side will care about it a lot for sure lol. Think about a team with Luka, Giannis, Jokic playing together, those guys would represent their own flags on their jerseys as well, and they will do their best without a doubt.

And in return, USA players would have to care, because if they lose then they are already in the USA, and they wouldn't want fans to hate them. This is actually a good idea that will make teams fight again, they will play defense, they will try to win for sure.
With the increasing number of players outside the US, this might happen, but not now.
US Vs. the World isn't the solution for this boring all-star game. They should play like it's Game 7 of the NBA Finals. I miss the time when players are defending. I guess it's around the year 2000's when Kobe, MJ, AI, and others are still fighting for that win, and for sure, fans are way happier seeing their idol playing than compared to just shooting here, and there with no defense whatsoever.

Here are the records that got broken during that boring all-star c/o Stephen A. Smith.

Just based on that image alone, you can already see why the game ended up with 397 points in total. 3 fouls only for the whole game? I mean WTF!!! I guess it's good that I didn't watch it either or I might end up sleeping. Instead of me watching on the TV, the TV is watching me sleeping Cheesy.

Overall, the all-star game is a complete embarrassment, but I don't see any changed in it for the next couple of years. This is the reason why people prefer watching Football or Soccer than Basketball.
332  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you stand to gain from the bull run. on: February 19, 2024, 02:02:24 PM
As the bull run is right around the corner, most of us newbies have heard about it,  and even the experience crypto enthusiastic knows how and what always transpired during the bull run, but the sad reality is that not everyone will gain from it,  so my question is that what measures have you put in place to be among the beneficiary of the bull run?

We should start asking ourselves question like, how far have we gone in our Bitcoin accumulating process?  If the bull run comes this week, how much can we milk out from our current holdings? if we had any.
I continuously bought during the bear market and last year.
That's the measure that I made so that I can maximize profit when the bull market comes.

Some investors are panicking when they're seeing the market going down 2 years ago. Some are panic selling, some didn't do anything, and some like me just took the opportunity to buy more Bitcoin. Whenever I have spare money at that time, I will use it to buy Bitcoin. I remember the time when I had to choose between upgrading my computer and buying Bitcoin. I decided to buy more Bitcoin because it's price will appreciate, and at the same time, upgrading my computer wasn't my main priority at that time. When the bull market comes, I can upgrade my computer, and add more things to it as well. Smiley

Those who risked their money in the past 2 years are the ones who will benefit when the bull run come especially those who risked in 2022 when everything is on a freefall. Those brave investors who choose to buy Bitcoin than buying others will double, triple or even x5 their initial investment.
333  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] Spot And Avoid Some of the Common Crypto Scams. on: February 19, 2024, 01:28:15 PM
I've seen it all already. All types of scams that OP has shared with us, but I'm disappointed in myself because I almost fell into a phishing scam.
I'll share a bit of my experience with it, and I hope 1 or 2 can learn as well.

It was at the time when we are waiting for the DYM airdrop. I saw a link that is almost the same as the legit website (always the case), but something's wrong already with the website because I can't log in to my Kepler Wallet. I gave that link to my relative and my surprise, he said to me that it was a phishing site. I guess the fact that I can't log in to my account is already a "blessing in disguise" on my part, and even though I didn't log in, I'm still thinking that somehow, the hacker can drain my wallet. Well, weeks have passed and fortunately, nothing has happened to my account... or has it?? Cheesy

I guess the lesson is that don't get excited too much, especially when you are eligible and about to get the free tokens. Like I always say, when emotions are high, intelligence is low, so don't get excited like I did. Cheesy I learned from that as well anyways.
334  Economy / Economics / Re: Save money today so money would save you tomorrow. on: February 19, 2024, 02:13:54 AM
~
To cut the story short, I’m advising mostly the young people of our generation to save, avoid unnecessary spendings and save even if it’s so little, cause you might find yourself in a situation tomorrow and you wouldn’t want to call home or ask for help, cause you have a second choice, that means you are literally getting yourself out of a problem. So please it’s not too late to stop spending on things that doesn’t really matter, so basically the money you saved today could literally save you tomorrow.
In short, save for emergency funds. Smiley
It's not always good to buy some things that you don't need, but if you will then at least consider saving some money for emergency funds first. I said "emergency funds" twice because, for me, that's the only reason why we need to save money.

Saving for the sake of saving will not help you because of this stupid inflation. Saving for emergency funds would be helpful for us because like OP said, we don't know when will be the time when we might need that money for something whether it's for an emergency, or somebody from our family needs urgent help, etc. Well, of course always don't forget to invest still. Don't save only, but invest as well if you have money of course. Smiley

There are many reasons why there are many people who aren't saving, but one reason is they are lacking financial literacy. Another reason is that they can get easily attracted to these sales in malls or whatever establishments it is. Like I said, save early, but don't save only. Invest as well. Smiley
335  Economy / Speculation / Re: 60k possible before end of this month? on: February 19, 2024, 01:58:47 AM
From the look out of things there is no doubt that $60k is sure before the end of this month February reason being that bitcoin has surpasses the price of 50k and headed to $52k if I am not mistakenly and you can correct me if I am wrong.
Also does this proves the idea of most people saying that bitcoin could hit half a million dollars after the halving by 2025, does this sign proves it right?

Let us discuss.
There's always a possibility for everything. That's how unpredictable Bitcoin is.
We might see its price going $60,000, but there might be a chance that we might see it below $45,000 again.

$60,000 by the end of the month? I don't think so, and before thinking about that price, I guess let's wait before Bitcoin surpasses the $55,000 price first. Right now, I don't see any reason why Bitcoin will reach that price at least for this month. One big news is what we need for Bitcoin to reach that price, but aside from that, what I expect is that Bitcoin will just go sideways around the $50,000 area. Well, you're not wrong because like, you're also just speculating.

Bitcoin reaching $500,000 by next year? Too optimistic I would say. I mean I know that everything is possible, but let's be realistic at least with our predictions, please? I don't think that it will happen. My realistic prediction towards the peak of price of Bitcoin is more or less $150,000 by 2025.
336  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How safe is it letting the bank know that you are a BTC Investor? on: February 19, 2024, 01:39:47 AM
~
Question please: was the official question on me necessary? And was it wrong of me letting her know that I am a BTC investor? My conscience just keep saying "Hello man, you fucked up talking about BTC out there".
You can just say that you're a freelancer. I mean that's the safest answer to that one (at least for me).
They only asked you what you do for a living, and you said that you're a Bitcoin Investor.

Your conscience is telling you that you fucked up, well I guess you fucked up with this one OP. I just realized it lately, but picking a good bank to store the profits that you got from cryptocurrencies is a big deal just because they can just freeze your account if they know that you're involved in it. Some banks are against it, but some aren't. TBH, I haven't experienced encounters like this, but I already have a strategy for me to cash out all of my profits without any suspicions from all of the banks that I have. I might have many bank accounts, but all of them only have to maintain balances because I don't store money in banks.

Well, I guess saying the truth to the banks will not make your account freeze. It's just that, some are very strict when it comes to this hence, they freeze or lock the account of the person involved in crypto.
337  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which project/token inflicted your biggest loss? on: February 19, 2024, 01:14:08 AM
I did read what you said OP, and this just shows that even the highest coins can still scam investors like what happened with FTX, and Terra Luna. Always beware and like what they're always saying, "Invest what you can afford to lose."

Quote
Re: Which project/token inflicted your biggest loss?
For me, it's Pancakeswap.

I was blinded by the fact that it was the first DEX under Binance Smart Chain, and at that time, BSC was becoming more and more popular because of NFTs and games being made under Binance. I thought that Pancakeswap would be the same as Uniswap hence, I bought it when it was around $32. Weeks passed by, and it went down, and down, and down and to cut the story short, I sold all of my CAKE tokens when the price was at $2. I guess I'm just lucky that I didn't go all in with CAKE or else, the disappointment will be much greater. Right now, I moved on from that already, and I realized that I bought it during the peak of the bull run which was my mistake. I made a mistake, and I learned from it, and I will not do it again. Smiley

  • What percentage and amount did you lose?
  • How did this experience impact your investment journey?
1. I can't do basic mathematics for now but just compute. I bought it at nearly $32 and sold it at $2. Cheesy
2. Financially, it doesn't affect me that much because like I said, I was diversified, and I only put a small amount into Pancakeswap. I would definitely say that the learnings is way more than the losses that I incur investing into that shitty token. Cheesy
338  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 19, 2024, 12:55:23 AM

I just think nba players are generally uninterested in the dunk contest or at least enter.  Like I said all these dunks are just being re packaged and super stars don't want to look bad on TV.  3 point contest is always going to be interesting because it's not about creativity but rather who can drop the most in.  Looking forward to tonight's game.  Just hope it nails the under 364.

This year, I am more interested to see who wins in the 3-point contest than the slamdunk competition because after Lavine did what he has done with the kind of dunks he showed the judges, it's hard for anyone to come up with a new style and creativity because they are also limited due to their height and high jumping capability. I think next year they will gonna change the way they judge this competition and might come up with some new plan let's just wait for their updates because slamdunk contests are no longer fun since no one can make another historical dunk unless he is uniquely talented.
If they focus on the entertainment, they can get those dunkers outside the league and compete on all-star.
I mean if somebody here watched the show "Dunk King" way back years ago, you will see dunks there that even the NBA players can't even do. I had an opportunity to watch some of its episodes and I would say that some of the dunks there are on par with how LaVine and Gordon competed a few years ago. Most are dunks that NBA players can't even do.

Aside from the first option that I gave, one option that they can do is to increase the prize so more players are attracted to join. There are some players who don't want to join because of the low prize, and if the management hears them and they want to have better players in that contest, better make some adjustments like a prize increase.

Another is to just remove the Slam Dunk Contest completely, but of course, this will not happen so the best option among the 3 is to get those dunkers outside the NBA, compete, and entertain the fans. That way, fans will be way happier than seeing these NBA players making amateur dunks.
339  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is your advised for being a trader? on: February 17, 2024, 04:35:05 AM
~
So What things do you follow and advice before open a trade?
Nah just forget about opening a trade, and just copy those expert traders out there. Tongue
Kidding aside, I tried trading already. Three times to be exact, and I lost in all of those 3 times.

I will not give much advice because I'm not a successful trader, but what I know is that, before clicking that buy/sell button, make sure that you're always ready in whatever situations might happen. What I mean is that, if things go your way, you must have a selling strategy. The same goes when things aren't going your way. You must have an exit plan or a stop-loss plan.

Also, disregard your emotions. Emotions are one of the main reasons why traders lose their money. Some pare panicking when they see their positions down double digits. Some are making unnecessary decisions when they see that the market is going down. Traders are making bad decisions because they get too emotional. I learned how to be emotionless most of the time in trading. It's just that, there are times when my emotions are getting me hence, I make very bad decisions that make my capital disappear. One wrong decision can make your capital wipe especially when you're trading in the future.

Overall, trading is a risky thing especially when you're a newbie. Many give advice such as "Stay away from trading" blah blah. I would say, let them experience and from there, they can decide whether they will continue trading or not. Learn to be patient, learn to be emotionless, always have a strategy.
340  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My wealth plan in the next 3 years from today on: February 17, 2024, 04:05:46 AM
Well, no offense to you OP, but I'm not a fan of TRON ever since Justin Sun has been into many dramas and sh*t in the past.
I don't know if it's only me, but I'm not hearing anything about the project for years already. I mean is there some upgrades or changes on the project lately?

It's your plan OP so I don't have the right to criticize it because it's your money. It's just that, I'm not a fan of the token, and going all in isn't a good strategy either. Maybe if you can diversify your portfolio then at least it will lessen your losses just in case something bad happen. Well, the token has been there for quite some time, and like Litecoin, I've never heard anything talking about TRON online.

Anyways, you are keeping your money in TRON, Tron USDT, and Tron USDC. You will not earn any capital appreciation from it aside from TRON, or at least you will earn less by holding the 3 tokens that you shared because 2 of them are pegged to a dollar which decreases the volatility hence, lowering your potential profits. Anyhow, good luck to you OP I guess, and I hope your 3-year plan works for you. Smiley
